There are many people today who all they have is hope. At one time or another we all know that even hope can starve. Every soul you meet has fought a battle we know nothing about. A person that is rude to you may have a sick child. The woman that cuts in line may be rushing to her mother’s death bed, we never know. So the only sensible thing to do is to be kind, always kind, even when you have nothing left to give. Especially then, that’s when it matters most. That’s when you discover what you’re really made of.
Faith isn’t about believing everything will be fine, it’s about believing you’ll be fine even when everything isn’t.
Precious things are meant to be passed along. The promise made when you were in need and someone reached out and helped you, that one day when you’re able you would reach out and help another, is the most precious gift we can pass along. This is how light spreads in dark places. It’s all about passing along the light.
We are all just links in a chain that goes back to the beginning of time and forward to eternity, we’re all just passing it along. Keep the promise, keep helping people and always remember it’s never about money, it’s about that moment when everything seems wrong and someone sees you, really sees you, and reminds you that you matter, that you’re worth saving, that your dignity is sacred, and they helped you. Passing the light continues the chain of human connection.

If so, I urge you to pray for God to help you and speak through you, and do it. I’m 71 years old now, and I had led an extremely immoral and promiscuous life for the first half of it. God had mercy on me and saved me in my 40’s. I was asked to give my testimony at the very large church I was a member of at the time. I have always had terrible stage fright and I was terrified to get up there in front of all those people. I get the physical trembling and cracking of the voice, etc. BUT GOD gave me perfect peace to get up there and read what I had prepared, with a calm that I cannot describe. Do it afraid, but do it. Somebody needs to hear what God has done for you.
Sometimes it’s a Bible verse that penetrates someone’s heart and gives them hope. Sometimes it’s the encouragement of someone who cares about you. Nothing has been able to penetrate mine lately over what I am dealing with personally (and haven’t been sharing,) and it causes me to wake every day with a feeling of dread and despair.

In that moment it’s the only way I know how to respond. I really am the nicest person you’ll ever meet, befriend, or abuse in person. It could be misread as meek and compliant even. Excessively concerned with how others feel.

(As you all know 😆) I don’t know what it is about the internet, but maybe it’s because I sense evil and dishonest people who genuinely want to hurt others, or a bot trying to normalize a message that is a lie and is dangerous to the fabric of our communities. I slap it back harshly. They often say “you’d never have the courage to say that in person” and I’d say … they are correct. LOL I wouldn’t. Yeah, social media gives me a shield.
I’m aware that online readers are affected the same way by harsh words online as if in person, and do try to be blunt without the nastiness. I fail more often on X than here, but I have failed here on occasion. I often wonder how “God’s love” and “kindness” would be effective against some of these evil forces we face online. Sometimes blunt truth and harsh rebuke/correction are effective to protect others reading from the sidelines.
I have a spiritual gift of stating the truth in every situation, it’s probably the least popular of the spiritual gifts because many people perceive speaking the truth as not being kind. They don’t understand the inner drive to speak it and their gifts are different, so they harshly judge those of us with mine. They accuse us of “not speaking in love”. Quite often we are, but the receiver does not “hear” it in love. So I can be misread as being unkind. It’s a difficult position, and I’d love to swap it with the gift of prayer or helps if anyone wants to. 🤣
You are a better person than I am, I usually try to be kind and give the person the benefit of the doubt but I also am convinced that there a lot of very entitled people out there just doing things because they think they are better than everyone else and don't have to follow the same rules. I might not say anything directly to them but I certainly grouse to myself and will shoot them a dirty look on occasion :P

When I lived in Washington, and my son and his wife were still renting in Bellevue, their apartment complex was strewn with parents of highly paid H1B tech workers, many of whom had the habit of cooking pungent asafoetida laced stews out on their decks and patios and polluting the complex almost daily. When their flush tech worker children came by, they parked their luxury model Lexus or BMW in non-guest spots meant for the residents, and acted like they owned the complex.
Meanwhile, at the Bellevue Mall, it was apparent that the demographics of Bellevue, which in the 1980s was filled with courteous blonde Scandinavians and other Northern Europeans, had been supplanted with crowds of rude, pushy Chinese, Indian, and Pakistani tech workers.
It is! The entire Demographics of Silicon Valley changed! The housing market skyrockets! They tend to balkanize! Suddenly a neighborhood shopping center anchored by a Wonderful family grocery store with healthy foods has become a slummy Korean Market. The other shops and services go out of business because they lost their demographic. Within a few years limping along, and the parking lot looking more like a WWII minefield, the businesses give up. The neighborhood has lost the local pharmacy, ice cream shop, Pizza place and hair dresser to the gray haired grandmothers' who still remain in the home they purchased when their husbands returned home from war. Nearby fourplexes are now housing multiple families and parking and even the sight of a curb is rare! Fast forward to today, the minefield sits empty and wrapped in cyclone fencing awaiting the wrecking ball and the Mandated High Density Housing "projects" that the Socialist Legislature has demanded be built in every city to house their constituents!
I was born and raised in Ballard and you are absolutely correct in your assessment of who was living in Bellevue back in the day! There was a reason that the Nordstrom at Bell Square was so successful, before they started importing cheap crap from China and still charging outrageous prices for it! Thankfully, the family has taken the company back private and I did see an improvement in the quality last time I went there!
And yes, the parents of the "tech sector" are a far bigger issue than most people realize! They qualify for all kinds of "assistance" but most are rude and refuse to acclimate to American culture. I still live just north of Seattle and deal with them often in my daily life. Most do not speak English, and show no interest in learning it!
My in-laws knew when they came here that they were expected to learn the language and the culture! They got jobs, worked hard, and never took one dime of money that they had not earned! It would have never occurred to them to bring over their parents - that was part of the deal when they left their homeland and they knew it! Aunts and uncles came to visit and they went back to their native country when they could afford to do so but that was on them financially and no one ever expected, or demanded, anything else!

I am in hospitality, and recently had a guest with me for about 6 months. He and his wife are from India, have been here in this country at least 10 years, long enough to buy a home in NC, where they reside, and I'm sure are here on H-1B visas. He is a mechanical engineer, and was in my area on a temporary job assignment. The wife, get this, teaches English to middle schoolers in NC, and was recently promoted to the head of the English department at the middle school. Really? NC can't find any native English speakers to teach the kids English, or be head of the department? Yes, her English is fairly good, but it is her second language, with a heavy accent. Seriously, folks.
We live in NW WA state, and if I go to any medical office or the hospital, I think I am in a foreign country, with so much of the staff from India or somewhere in the Middle East. Fortunately, my own doctor is a sweet local gal, born and raised here. My husband has a doctor that's Egyptian. Go figure! We are losing our national identity and culture.
I have to say, seeing the quality of English used by the teachers I know personally, I am not sure there are that many who are qualified :P We need to bring up our standards! I am consistently disappointed at the poor writing skills of most teachers and at their lack of critical thinking skills :/
I understand when people post quickly and don't have time to proofread or autocorrect happens or whatever. But some of the errors I have seen these teachers make on social media posts are ridiculously elementary. It is pretty discouraging.

When I worked with international students, I had very few pursue H1-B visa status. One I do remember came to the US from PRC. She took a few entry level accy courses, and applied to a firm in California, as an accountant. She was hired as an accountant and granted H1-B visa status. Clearly, she was neither qualified (except as a bookkeeper) nor filling a position that there were too few US native applicants.
One thought about the $100K fee: countries/governments with vested interests in planting operatives in US businesses will pay the freight. I hope it puts those countries (looking at you PRC) further under the 100X microscope of our State Dept.

I hope one of the first companies the Wage and Hour Division investigates for past H-1B abuses is Disney. My friend’s S-I-L lost his IT job the same way but he was mid 40’s and had young children at the time. His wife’s job is carrying the family now as he has not been able to re-enter the job market in that field.

Recently my youngest son got a job at a nearby factory. He only lasted 3 weeks. His biggest complaint was that no one spoke English. He doesn’t speak Spanish. Even his direct boss only spoke broken English making instructions difficult to understand. It was intolerable.
Every time I call a customer service number for an American company, most of the time foreigners answer the phones and don't live in the US. When I ask where they are, its India or the Philippines most of the time.

I have a former maga family member that has been throughly blackpilled by certain social media ‘influencers’. I couldn’t have been more shocked when he started believing & spewing garbage & outright lies against Trump. ( “he’s a pedophile” for ex. ). At first we tried to be rational with him, recommending he read C&C for good information. So far no change.
He lives in another state so thankfully we don’t have to be around him. We keep our relationship going, but never talk politics. To his credit he goes along so the relationship (adult son) is not completely damaged, but no longer close 🙁. He’s always in our prayers as it seems something bad has gotten ahold of him.

There are many people today who all they have is hope. At one time or another we all know that even hope can starve. Every soul you meet has fought a battle we know nothing about. A person that is rude to you may have a sick child. The woman that cuts in line may be rushing to her mother’s death bed, we never know. So the only sensible thing to do is to be kind, always kind, even when you have nothing left to give. Especially then, that’s when it matters most. That’s when you discover what you’re really made of.

The promise made when you were in need and someone reached out and helped you, that one day when you’re able you would reach out and help another, is the most precious gift we can pass along. God had mercy on me and saved me in my 40’s. I was asked to give my testimony at the very large church I was a member of at the time. I have always had terrible stage fright and I was terrified to get up there in front of all those people. I get the physical trembling and cracking of the voice, etc. BUT GOD gave me perfect peace to get up there and read what I had prepared, with a calm that I cannot describe. Do it afraid, but do it. Somebody needs to hear what God has done for you.

In that moment it’s the only way I know how to respond. I really am the nicest person you’ll ever meet, befriend, or abuse in person. It could be misread as meek and compliant even. (As you all know 😆) I don’t know what it is about the internet, but maybe it’s because I sense evil and dishonest people who genuinely want to hurt others, or a bot trying to normalize a message that is a lie and is dangerous to the fabric of our communities. I slap it back harshly. They often say “you’d never have the courage to say that in person” and I’d say … they are correct. LOL I wouldn’t. Yeah, social media gives me a shield.
I’m aware that online readers are affected the same way by harsh words online as if in person, and do try to be blunt without the nastiness. I fail more often on X than here, but I have failed here on occasion. I often wonder how “God’s love” and “kindness” would be effective against some of these evil forces we face online. Sometimes blunt truth and harsh rebuke/correction are effective to protect others reading from the sidelines.
I have a spiritual gift of stating the truth in every situation, it’s probably the least popular of the spiritual gifts because many people perceive speaking the truth as not being kind. They don’t understand the inner drive to speak it and their gifts are different, so they harshly judge those of us with mine. They accuse us of “not speaking in love”. Quite often we are, but the receiver does not “hear” it in love. So I can be misread as being unkind. It’s a difficult position, and I’d love to swap it with the gift of prayer or helps if anyone wants to. 🤣
You are a better person than I am, I usually try to be kind and give the person the benefit of the doubt but I also am convinced that there a lot of very entitled people out there just doing things because they think they are better than everyone else and don't have to follow the same rules. I might not say anything directly to them but I certainly grouse to myself and will shoot them a dirty look on occasion :P

The next part of the H1B Visa scam that needs to be addressed is the number of "family members" brought in as soon as the foreign worker gets their Green Card! No, they don't qualify for Social Security and Medicare, but they DO get SSI (Supplemental Security Income) and Medicaid, because they are "low income seniors"! And that often adds up to thousands of dollars per month, per household, which is how so many immigrant families can afford million dollar homes, pricing out the young people who grew up in the same area!
All "reunification" policies need to be completely rewritten, immediately! Anyone who wants to bring over family members must agree to assume the care of and pay the living expenses of said persons for LIFE, just as they would be expected to do back home, in most cases! And we need to stop offering 27 different languages for services, too!! Learn English, just like every other group of immigrants was expected to do in the past - PERIOD!! (I am married to the son of legal immigrants and all of these policies were in place when his family arrived and they survived, and even thrived, in their new country, and we need to return to those standards, immediately, IMHO!)

When I lived in Washington, and my son and his wife were still renting in Bellevue, their apartment complex was strewn with parents of highly paid H1B tech workers, many of whom had the habit of cooking pungent asafoetida laced stews out on their decks and patios and polluting the complex almost daily. When their flush tech worker children came by, they parked their luxury model Lexus or BMW in non-guest spots meant for the residents, and acted like they owned the complex.
Meanwhile, at the Bellevue Mall, it was apparent that the demographics of Bellevue, which in the 1980s was filled with courteous blonde Scandinavians and other Northern Europeans, had been supplanted with crowds of rude, pushy Chinese, Indian, and Pakistani tech workers.
I had to look up “ asafoetida” and the dictionary describes it as “fetid”, which means “stinking”, for those of you in Portland or Rio Linda. Yuck.
Well, in Indian curries, a little goes a long way. In most American locations, Indian restaurants omit it from recipes.

It is! The entire Demographics of Silicon Valley changed! The housing market skyrockets! They tend to balkanize! Suddenly a neighborhood shopping center anchored by a Wonderful family grocery store with healthy foods has become a slummy Korean Market. The other shops and services go out of business because they lost their demographic. Within a few years limping along, and the parking lot looking more like a WWII minefield, the businesses give up. The neighborhood has lost the local pharmacy, ice cream shop, Pizza place and hair dresser to the gray haired grandmothers' who still remain in the home they purchased when their husbands returned home from war. Nearby fourplexes are now housing multiple families and parking and even the sight of a curb is rare! Fast forward to today, the minefield sits empty and wrapped in cyclone fencing awaiting the wrecking ball and the Mandated High Density Housing "projects" that the Socialist Legislature has demanded be built in every city to house their constituents!
I was born and raised in Ballard and you are absolutely correct in your assessment of who was living in Bellevue back in the day! There was a reason that the Nordstrom at Bell Square was so successful, before they started importing cheap crap from China and still charging outrageous prices for it! Thankfully, the family has taken the company back private and I did see an improvement in the quality last time I went there!
And yes, the parents of the "tech sector" are a far bigger issue than most people realize! They qualify for all kinds of "assistance" but most are rude and refuse to acclimate to American culture. I still live just north of Seattle and deal with them often in my daily life. Most do not speak English, and show no interest in learning it!
My in-laws knew when they came here that they were expected to learn the language and the culture! They got jobs, worked hard, and never took one dime of money that they had not earned! It would have never occurred to them to bring over their parents - that was part of the deal when they left their homeland and they knew it! Aunts and uncles came to visit and they went back to their native country when they could afford to do so but that was on them financially and no one ever expected, or demanded, anything else!

I am in hospitality, and recently had a guest with me for about 6 months. He and his wife are from India, have been here in this country at least 10 years, long enough to buy a home in NC, where they reside, and I'm sure are here on H-1B visas. He is a mechanical engineer, and was in my area on a temporary job assignment. The wife, get this, teaches English to middle schoolers in NC, and was recently promoted to the head of the English department at the middle school. Really? NC can't find any native English speakers to teach the kids English, or be head of the department? Yes, her English is fairly good, but it is her second language, with a heavy accent. Seriously, folks.
We live in NW WA state, and if I go to any medical office or the hospital, I think I am in a foreign country, with so much of the staff from India or somewhere in the Middle East. Fortunately, my own doctor is a sweet local gal, born and raised here. My husband has a doctor that's Egyptian. Go figure! We are losing our national identity and culture.
I have to say, seeing the quality of English used by the teachers I know personally, I am not sure there are that many who are qualified :P We need to bring up our standards! I am consistently disappointed at the poor writing skills of most teachers and at their lack of critical thinking skills :/

When I worked with international students, I had very few pursue H1-B visa status. One I do remember came to the US from PRC. She took a few entry level accy courses, and applied to a firm in California, as an accountant. She was hired as an accountant and granted H1-B visa status. Clearly, she was neither qualified (except as a bookkeeper) nor filling a position that there were too few US native applicants.

I hope one of the first companies the Wage and Hour Division investigates for past H-1B abuses is Disney. I still remember them replacing employees years ago with foreign workers and making the U.S. workers train their replacements. If they didn't, they lost their termination package. It was outrageous.

In 2010, I suffered my first-ever layoff when Nielsen Media Research decided that imported Indian programmers could handle its necessary software development as good as or better than the (mostly-)Americans who were currently fulfilling that task. As part of our 'severance package', we were required to train our replacements in a software architecture that was -- for lack of a better term -- unique in all the visible universe.
I was, at the time, 63 and already contemplating retiring, so being laid-off wasn't the worst thing that could have happened to me, but among the group that felt the axe, I was one of very few who were smiling.
NMR, of course, had a multitude of reasons for replacing greybeard IT-folk with youngsters from the subcontinent, but everyone knew the real reason was salary costs.
What a twisted practice, forcing people to train their low budget replacements.
My friend’s S-I-L lost his IT job the same way but he was mid 40’s and had young children at the time. His wife’s job is carrying the family now as he has not been able to re-enter the job market in that field.
That’s certainly demeaning but having worked with a few subcontinental IT folk that training was likely not as fruitful as management assumed simply because most Indians will always pretend to have understood something rather than ask or admit they aren’t really ready to take over for cultural reasons.
Sometimes has pretty hilarious results where they will build a mock-up and pretend it’s the finished item, management can’t tell the difference because they laid off the people who would spot it right away. Then those guys come back as consultants at 4 times the cost.
Still a win for management because it reduces costs for a few quarters.
Yes the "saving face" cultures can be very detrimental in that regard :/

Recently my youngest son got a job at a nearby factory. He only lasted 3 weeks. His biggest complaint was that no one spoke English. He doesn’t speak Spanish. Even his direct boss only spoke broken English making instructions difficult to understand. It was intolerable.
Every time I call a customer service number for an American company, most of the time foreigners answer the phones and don't live in the US. When I ask where they are, its India or the Philippines most of the time.

I often wonder about the black-pill crowd. I suppose some of the MAGA dissenters might be genuine in their beliefs, though I suspect they were carefully targeted and their errant views exquisitely curated by their handlers.

I have a former maga family member that has been throughly blackpilled by certain social media ‘influencers’. I couldn’t have been more shocked when he started believing & spewing garbage & outright lies against Trump. ( “he’s a pedophile” for ex. ). At first we tried to be rational with him, recommending he read C&C for good information. So far no change.
He lives in another state so thankfully we don’t have to be around him. We keep our relationship going, but never talk politics. To his credit he goes along so the relationship (adult son) is not completely damaged, but no longer close 🙁. He’s always in our prayers as it seems something bad has gotten ahold of him.
Some people just go with whatever they hear or whatever seems to be the trend. That is very frustrating.
