There’s a bar that opened in Massachusetts called The Last Ditch Bar. It was 3 woke communists women that took out a “loan” for 50 thousand dollars and opened their dream bar where if you couldn’t afford it the drinks were free. Oh yah, wearing an n-95 mask is mandatory 7 days a week.
Well 2 of the 3 partners decided they didn’t want to run a bar any longer so the 3rd partner got stuck holding the bag of sh-t. One of the partners that left decided to go to clown school. The remaining partner said she is now working 4 jobs, has become homeless, is living in her truck, is behind on the bar rent and is about to be evicted. This is socialism in a nut, and I mean nut, shell.
Well because she is complaining about working 4 jobs being homeless, credit has gone to sh-t, the other 2 partners and thousands of other insane woke socialists are bashing her saying she’s a racist, capitalist pig.
Socialism is wonderful until you run out of someone else’s money (Margaret Thatcher). Funny I don’t see any liberal communists stepping up with suitcases of money to bail out the socialist bar. Maybe AOC could donate 7 or 10 shifts a week getting her old job back as a bat-back? I don’t think so!

I am stuck on the phrase “they got a loan”- who gave them a loan?? How in the world could they have had a business plan and collateral for a loan. Loan officer needs to go back to grocery store stocking.
Before they opened the bar they must have had credit so they went to the bank and got a loan for 50,000. I’m sure they will default on the loan. The funny thing is, isn’t getting a loan to open a business a capitalist idea? I guess if you have no intention of paying it off it’s a great socialist idea…
This is why many of the mortgage companies lost so much money in 2009. People could get a loan , but they couldn’t afford to pay them back. I fear we’re on that road again.
When the re market crashed in 2009 they were no buyers for houses. For two + years I made a living listing and selling foreclosures. That was a sad market. It wasn’t just middle class people who their homes. I handled a few million dollar homes in foreclosure.
Off this topic but equally important. During the 4 years of the unelected autopen regime, approximately 20-30 million illegals were allowed to cross the border by mayorkas/biden and the criminals at every level below them. Their first stop was at NGOs waiting for them in the desert, which bused them to hotels and other facilities where they were housed and processed. Did part of that processing include filling out the Federal Post Card Application to register to vote, which only requires checking a box to claim US Citizenship? And a ballot address going to the NGO addresses in the state where the illegal was destined - mostly blue states, who will not check for citizenship documents. This process ensures "someone" will vote in the federal elections for that state.
The 30k illegal voters "discovered"? Bullshit! Its millions and millions of mail in ballots all over the country which will be fraudulently voted. The Senate and SCOTUS denied us the fixes which would have prevented these ballots from being mailed.

100% agreed, EVERYONE MUST VOTE especially those who don't normally vote because they think their vote wont count, etc. The crooked states, like the one I live in, Arizona, keeps very up to the second records of mail in ballots received during the unconstitutional mail in period (which also has no chain of custody and no voter ID) of weeks/months and on s_Election day with ePollbooks (ESS and whatever Dominion's equivalent is) which tells them precisely via the VPN they establish, who has voted and more importantly who hasn't voted. If you don't vote, they will vote for you with last minute "mail in" ballots dropped at voting locations or the county offices. And they will also vote for all Democrats who are registered but may not have voted - one of the main reasons for their voter registration drives is not that they are concerned people will vote but that they will have lots of ballots to vote which will not be challenged. And of course they will vote for the illegals who registered, checked the box on being a US Citizen and the mail in ballots then arrive at the drop houses to be voted by election thieves. They have multiple ways to inject all the ballots they need, and of course, they will keep counting well after the election until they achieve the necessary numbers (also unconstitutional.)
California already pays everything for illegals. The only good thing Newscum has done is veto the 2024 bill that passed our CA legislature that would’ve given illegals $150,000 to buy a new house.
I'm curious about how voter registration at DMV came about, would that be federal legislation or state or require no legislation at all? Along the same line, I wonder when the change was made to allow non-citizens driver's licenses, which I think was probably at the state level? It's hard not to think it was all by design.
State legislation for DMV registration. It was/is another part of the scheme for wholesale mail in ballot fraud. I believe it is on a state-by-state basis. California's motor voter legislation came about in 2014-15, after they were sued by Common Cause over botching DMV voter registration. (CA has a history of absolute failure when it comes to large computer projects 🤡) I have a feeling a lot of motor voter legislation came from lawsuits instituted by left leaning NGO's, but I only looked into what happened in my former state.

This morning, before reading C & C, I was thinking about Rush Limbaugh, and how much I miss him. You could always count on him to beautifully articulate the true conservative cause, and the dangers of socialism/communism. My children were "raised" on Rush, and proudly take the mantel of"Rush babies". One of the many things I will be eternally grateful to Rush was the legacy and ongoing impact he left to so many of his fellow Americans. I thought this morning, what would Rush be saying today about the state of his beloved America?, what words of encouragement and sanity would he impart to us who groan in dismay over the mantel of deception that has descended on half the country? The golden microphone would be trumpeting loudly the exceptionalism of this American experiment in self governance for a moral people, he would call us out of our dark stupor and rally us, once again, to champion and defend our country. As a boomer, born at the beginning of the group, I do get tired of putting the blame on us. We are no more a homogeneous group than any other. Can the US pay that back? We are already paying over a trillion a year just in interest.
The golden goose is actually the US dollar being the world's reserve currency, which enabled the empire to use the labor and resources of the rest of the world, since they needed dollars to function in the global economy.

2) Bring in central bank crypto as a refinement over Federal Reserve Notes in the service of the dual ends of enslaving and tracking. Federal Reserve Notes and crypto have one thing in common, both have no known material existence. Both are a Wizards Trick, the casting of a spell. And the people believe the unreal is real. It's Plato's cave all over again, but with Philosopher Kings who are always ready with the right Philosophy (narrative) to 'share' with us. It is all smoke with which to keep the blind blind to their own self interest. We, the little people, must always be 'altruistic' in the service of our 'better', even if it kills us for trying.
3) Enlargement. Merge all of North America together, and not necessarily to give it a new label. But law harmonized and homogenized the populations for a more easy political control over the populations. There are many features and ins and outs to all of this. To achieve the above there has to be a Super-Mega Crisis and big enough that the people will beg for earthly salvation so that the people will sign onto terms which they in a state of wholeness would never sign for. And that is maybe why neither Rs and Ds give a hoot for prudently administer financial governance. Even $40 Trillion Donald seems okay with the madness of unbridled spending inducive of collapse. And the money crashes first. Then everything else. And then things get ugly. JuJu thank you. we are only made in the image of God, the Bible doesn't say we are equal in all things. There is nothing wrong with people making different amounts of money. When people have incentive to better themselves, they work harder. Or at least they did when I was growing up.
If anyone should be upset it’s my husband and I. We do not make what we earned and deserve (in respect to worldly “deserving”.) A whole host of particular challenging circumstances in the hand we were dealt combined with the economy prevented us from being where we should be today. My husband and I worked hard early in our marriage before kids, and after kids, and ever since, he has worked harder than any man on earth, without grumbling (much 😂). We are no where equal in income to others that worked just as hard as we did. Far from it. Is that fair? 🤷🏼♀️ It doesn’t have to be.
So here I sit, happy, with a smile on my face. I have freedom. I have much compared to most other corners of the world. I don’t have to have equality.
Now, if we lose our home because of overreaching real estate taxes and a corrupt government stealing our taxes, THAT’S when my shackles get up.
But I don’t care how much my neighbors have compared to us. God didn’t choose me for those blessings. And I celebrate in the joy of those for who He did.

Reminds me of my teaching career! As a high school math teacher, my students were expected to pass state exams at the end of the year so I worked very hard to help them do that. Some of the "fluff" subject teachers could listen to music and paint their nails during the school day! All teachers on the same pay scale, taking into account only "years of experience."

Well, good, but... The plain fact of the matter is that inflation is cumulative. Just because the inflation RATE comes down doesn't mean that prices will go down. Prices still go up, just not as fast as they did when the rate was higher. BUT... when the wage rate is higher than the inflation rate, things appear to be more affordable, and in some cases prices actually do go down, but that chain is very long indeed.

Implying that I don’t understand the complexities of the economy. The amount of personal debt people have is by and large a matter of choices; this is an infuriating concept to lefties.
Certainly there are exceptions, but the vast majority of Americans' debt is consumer debt. And what's new in people's perceptions is they see hard times as "unfair" and look for someone else to blame.
As far as our national debt, I would challenge the average person to describe in what way that effects their daily life; they won't be able to tell you.
I AGREE!! My sister and her husband both worked and earned around the same as my husband. (I did not work most of the time while raising our children.) They had such debt she didn't know how we survived with one income. We were fine. Careful with spending but could afford modest vacations and things for our kids.
Car payments are a great example of the core problem. Two things have happened, first car manufacturere have added features, some mandated by govt (safety, emissions reqts) some by capitalistic strategies (power wdos, locks, RKE, fancy trim, full audio systems, etc). Second, we have bought into them, and the prices they command. My first new car 1978 Firebird had 3 speed stick, manual locks, windows, am/fm monaural radio, cost $2700. My recent Equinox cost $30k, but has power everything, wifi, bluetooth, multi speaker stereo, clean exhause, 30mpg...We don't "have" to get all the bennies, but we "want to", and car makers are happy to help.
The core is we want all the bennies. If we are in debt, then we should stifle those wants, buy basic transportation, used, "pre owned" or don't drive. Same applies to housing. Houses of yesteryear cost less partly because they contained less. One example: when my 30yo washer finally died, i didn't buy the $2k horizontal maxifeature washer, but another conventional for $350. It does have the low water option, a stainless tub, etc. But way less $$ and way less to go wrong.
Of course, all I just said is only part of the problem. A big chunk is inflation that the Fed tries to keep at "only" 2%. 2%/year compounded means everything will cost more every year even if nothing in them changes. While our government baseline diminishes our wealth every year, sometines Technology helps, electronics prices generally have reduced even with increased features. But even there we don't have to get the bennies. I paid $90 for last year's Samsung recently, not the $2k latest Iphone, and it does all I need it to do.
And don't forget what Obama's "Cash For Clunkers" program did to distort the used car market!! It took a whole lot of used cars out of circulation and made it more expensive and difficult to find a decent used car :/
Yep! The last time we bought brand new and used financing was 2000. Every car since was paid with cash. We buy used, like new when possible. Sometimes we bought a 10-15 year old beater that was well maintained and what do you know! We got to where we needed to go! And it had all doors in tact too! We haven’t had a car payment since 2005. I stubbornly refuse. I’m too spoiled now being free of that kind of debt. If everybody did that I bet new car prices would plummet quickly. If you can’t afford it with cash, you need to look at older ones until you can. Save your money while you don’t have a payment so you can afford newer with cash next time. Instead of paying someone interest, and nearly 20-30% more on the price in the long run, earn interest on your own money instead.
All we carried for the past 20 years is a mortgage. Even that is starting to irk me and I’m looking for the exit to not have one at all.

As far as cars go, those bennies are wildly overpriced in order to increase the margins on the vehicle. Plus now, car companies are advertising 60-72 mo payment schedules!
My first was a 4 yr old 68 Charger 440. It had power windows and an 8 track. I paid $1500 for it, but sold it when gas jumped to $0.60/gal lol

In the fall of 2000 we bought a brand new Honda Odyssey. We paid $32,000 for it and our monthly car payment was $589. My mortgage payment was $800. 🤨 Just using the same ratios of today’s mortgage payments to car payments, car payments should be a lot higher than they are. Overall they ARE way too high as the sale prices are extreme and unaffordable without debt.

Yeah I’m teaching my sons to forfeit car payments. Cash only. But my youngest hit a snag last summer when our old odyssey beater coughed up her soul right when he moved there and had to start his new job the next morning. He was supposed to drive her until he found a really good used car, or saved up enough of a down payment to keep any auto loan to under 12 months. (That’s what our older son did and he had it paid off in 7 months.) So my youngest was stranded with no way to get a used vehicle to get to work the next day and the costs of Ubers was ridiculous. He panicked and signed a three year lease for a middle of the road make/model at the nearest dealership to where he broke down. 🤦🏼♀️ The sad part is the money he is paying each month now is what he was supposed to save for a down payment or to pay outright in cash.
We are working to help him figure out how to get back to original plans. The hard part is at their young age, if they have an income that can afford the payment, they just don’t understand why it’s not a smart idea to lease, or carry a car loan. I can see how easy it is to get trapped in that endless cycle of debt when you “think” you can afford it because you don’t have a crystal ball to show you just why you can’t.

I wrote about this on my own 'Stack, but during lockdown, my mother was taken to the hospital with pneumonia. Her covid tests were negative. They dumped her in the covid wing anyways. No, I'm not in the mood for granting "amnesty", thank you for asking.
Thank You for this nudge to the C&C group about watching this important Congressional Hearing hosted by Senator Johnson. I’m sure this will be new information for a majority of the public. Thousands of Americans and their families suffered through these deadly Covid hospital protocols. It’s the same sad story over and over of how the hospitals treated their covid patients so cruelly and ineffectively. These horrendous government policies need to change how emergencies/ pandemics are handled in the future so this murderous brutality to citizens does not re-occur. We went to the hospital for help and all we got was harm.

Hey Kelly, thanks for posting this. Got a question: my mom was in “memory care” in a nursing home, so not literally a hospital. She was denied access to her family, which with her mental state of about a 4 yr old, was extremely cruel. And she ended up dying all alone because of the draconian lockdowns. Is this data base also for such health institutions since it was not in a hospital? Thanks again. I thank the Lord for those like Ron Johnson. 🙏
A few years ago, under Biden, I had to go the local Social Security office. It was packed with foreigners. In the waiting area were a couple of large screens cycling through various bits of information. One view in the cycle contained information on registering to vote. Nothing wrong with that except it was in Spanish. I had plenty of time to sit and observe and I sat through several cycles on the screens. There was never an English version of the voter registration information, only Spanish. I'm sure it's nothing...rare and whatnot.
This makes my blood boil. Agree that for years now, any visit to any government agency like SSA, DMV, etc., the waiting room has WAY more foreigners ( I’ll use that accurate but “racist” word too! ) than English speaking folks. May God help us 😢🙏
Agreed. As a former rural Oregonian, lots of illegal farm workers are getting drivers licenses and registering to vote. DMV employees are complicit, and nitpick actual citizens’ identification but not the « English as a second language « applicants that need their children to translate. Whatever number the Dems are scoffing at, add three zeros, enough to throw an election. If elections are not honest, those who actually pay taxes will quit funding the corruption evident in all social programs.
There is nothing new under the sun…When I was in 7th grade, a record company guy paid me in records (yes actual vinyl) to call in to radio stations and request certain songs. I would have to call repeatedly for hours. I racked up lots of albums.
And even if we did it, there was no law against it when we did it and if there was a law it was a bad law so we still were not wrong if we actually did it for which there is no evidence so we are innocent. ;-)

There’s a bar that opened in Massachusetts called The Last Ditch Bar. It was 3 woke communists women that took out a “loan” for 50 thousand dollars and opened their dream bar where if you couldn’t afford it the drinks were free. Oh yah, wearing an n-95 mask is mandatory 7 days a week.
Well 2 of the 3 partners decided they didn’t want to run a bar any longer so the 3rd partner got stuck holding the bag of sh-t. One of the partners that left decided to go to clown school. The remaining partner said she is now working 4 jobs, has become homeless, is living in her truck, is behind on the bar rent and is about to be evicted. This is socialism in a nut, and I mean nut, shell.
Well because she is complaining about working 4 jobs being homeless, credit has gone to sh-t, the other 2 partners and thousands of other insane woke socialists are bashing her saying she’s a racist, capitalist pig.
Socialism is wonderful until you run out of someone else’s money (Margaret Thatcher). Funny I don’t see any liberal communists stepping up with suitcases of money to bail out the socialist bar. Maybe AOC could donate 7 or 10 shifts a week getting her old job back as a bat-back? I don’t think so!

This is why many of the mortgage companies lost so much money in 2009. People could get a loan , but they couldn’t afford to pay them back. I fear we’re on that road again.
When the re market crashed in 2009 they were no buyers for houses. For two + years I made a living listing and selling foreclosures. That was a sad market. It wasn’t just middle class people who their homes. I handled a few million dollar homes in foreclosure.

Off this topic but equally important. During the 4 years of the unelected autopen regime, approximately 20-30 million illegals were allowed to cross the border by mayorkas/biden and the criminals at every level below them. Their first stop was at NGOs waiting for them in the desert, which bused them to hotels and other facilities where they were housed and processed. Did part of that processing include filling out the Federal Post Card Application to register to vote, which only requires checking a box to claim US Citizenship? And a ballot address going to the NGO addresses in the state where the illegal was destined - mostly blue states, who will not check for citizenship documents. This process ensures "someone" will vote in the federal elections for that state.
The 30k illegal voters "discovered"? Bullshit! Its millions and millions of mail in ballots all over the country which will be fraudulently voted. The Senate and SCOTUS denied us the fixes which would have prevented these ballots from being mailed.
Dan the communist democrats are promising to legalize full benefits for all 30, 40, 50 million illegals if they regain power. 100% agreed, EVERYONE MUST VOTE especially those who don't normally vote because they think their vote wont count, etc. The crooked states, like the one I live in, Arizona, keeps very up to the second records of mail in ballots received during the unconstitutional mail in period (which also has no chain of custody and no voter ID) of weeks/months and on s_Election day with ePollbooks (ESS and whatever Dominion's equivalent is) which tells them precisely via the VPN they establish, who has voted and more importantly who hasn't voted. If you don't vote, they will vote for you with last minute "mail in" ballots dropped at voting locations or the county offices. And they will also vote for all Democrats who are registered but may not have voted - one of the main reasons for their voter registration drives is not that they are concerned people will vote but that they will have lots of ballots to vote which will not be challenged. And of course they will vote for the illegals who registered, checked the box on being a US Citizen and the mail in ballots then arrive at the drop houses to be voted by election thieves. They have multiple ways to inject all the ballots they need, and of course, they will keep counting well after the election until they achieve the necessary numbers (also unconstitutional.)

State legislation for DMV registration. It was/is another part of the scheme for wholesale mail in ballot fraud. See most people hear about these small time illegal ballot harvesting and say no big deal, not a problem, conspiracy theory, blah blah blah. I believe it is on a state-by-state basis. California's motor voter legislation came about in 2014-15, after they were sued by Common Cause over botching DMV voter registration. (CA has a history of absolute failure when it comes to large computer projects 🤡) I have a feeling a lot of motor voter legislation came from lawsuits instituted by left leaning NGO's, but I only looked into what happened in my former state.

This morning, before reading C & C, I was thinking about Rush Limbaugh, and how much I miss him. You could always count on him to beautifully articulate the true conservative cause, and the dangers of socialism/communism. My children were "raised" on Rush, and proudly take the mantel of"Rush babies". One of the many things I will be eternally grateful to Rush was the legacy and ongoing impact he left to so many of his fellow Americans. I thought this morning, what would Rush be saying today about the state of his beloved America?, what words of encouragement and sanity would he impart to us who groan in dismay over the mantel of deception that has descended on half the country? The golden microphone would be trumpeting loudly the exceptionalism of this American experiment in self governance for a moral people, he would call us out of our dark stupor and rally us, once again, to champion and defend our country. His voice from the past still can be heard in the halls of our minds! Never, never surrender!

As a boomer, born at the beginning of the group, I do get tired of putting the blame on us. We are no more a homogeneous group than any other. A lot of our national debt does comes from the MIC and the endless wars.
But the debt started skyrocketing after the 2008 crash, when both parties decided to bail out the bankers and screw the taxpayers.
They put their debt onto the national debt, and let them keep gambling with comped taxpayer money.
The debt is now over $40 trillion and climbing daily. Ordinary Americans, who apparently will work for $1.50 a post, can't understand those numbers, because they are far above our ken, even though we owe it.
A million is a thousand thousands, a billion is a thousand millions, and a trillion is a thousand billions.
Can the US pay that back? We are already paying over a trillion a year just in interest.
The golden goose is actually the US dollar being the world's reserve currency, which enabled the empire to use the labor and resources of the rest of the world, since they needed dollars to function in the global economy.
But Scott Bessent, the man who collapsed the British pound and destroyed the Bank of England for his boss, George Soros, is busily wringing the neck of the golden goose.
Why? Apparently they have some plan to destroy the dollar and then try to put the world on crypto currency, which they think will somehow wipe out the US debt and keep the US in charge of the world.
We'll see if it works.

'They' (The Money) always have a plan. And who are 'they'? Well, it's money that makes the world go around. That would be the High Table of the central banker establishment located ostensibly in New York and London. And until BRICS came along for mutual financial self-defense, this central banking cartel pretty much had their way with Global Banking mechanisms.
What is the plan?
1) Don't look for Spy Everything to go away because Spy Everything is intrinsic to their personal and world order plans. Spy Everything is Globalism. And maybe 'Globalism' will go away. But 'we' only change the labels. 'We' also change methods but only to what is necessary 1) to preserve wealth (theirs), and b) to keep the herds of humanity happy and fooled.
2) Bring in central bank crypto as a refinement over Federal Reserve Notes in the service of the dual ends of enslaving and tracking. Federal Reserve Notes and crypto have one thing in common, both have no known material existence. Both are a Wizards Trick, the casting of a spell. And the people believe the unreal is real. It's Plato's cave all over again, but with Philosopher Kings who are always ready with the right Philosophy (narrative) to 'share' with us. It is all smoke with which to keep the blind blind to their own self interest. We, the little people, must always be 'altruistic' in the service of our 'better', even if it kills us for trying.
3) Enlargement. Merge all of North America together, and not necessarily to give it a new label. But law harmonized and homogenized the populations for a more easy political control over the populations. There are many features and ins and outs to all of this. Too much for an 'all in one place' discussion.
To achieve the above there has to be a Super-Mega Crisis and big enough that the people will beg for earthly salvation so that the people will sign onto terms which they in a state of wholeness would never sign for. And that is maybe why neither Rs and Ds give a hoot for prudently administer financial governance. Even $40 Trillion Donald seems okay with the madness of unbridled spending inducive of collapse. And the money crashes first. Then everything else. And then things get ugly. And who ends up dead is a thing of little consequence because the Ends Always Justify the Means in the world of Psychopathic Rule.

You need to look a little further into the derivative of all our debt. Clue: the rich just keep getting richer, just as they do in the socialist and communist countries. If anyone should be upset it’s my husband and I. We do not make what we earned and deserve (in respect to worldly “deserving”.) A whole host of particular challenging circumstances in the hand we were dealt combined with the economy prevented us from being where we should be today. My husband and I worked hard early in our marriage before kids, and after kids, and ever since, he has worked harder than any man on earth, without grumbling (much 😂). We are no where equal in income to others that worked just as hard as we did. Far from it. Is that fair? 🤷🏼♀️ It doesn’t have to be.
So here I sit, happy, with a smile on my face. I have freedom. I have much compared to most other corners of the world. I don’t have to have equality.
Now, if we lose our home because of overreaching real estate taxes and a corrupt government stealing our taxes, THAT’S when my shackles get up.
But I don’t care how much my neighbors have compared to us. God didn’t choose me for those blessings. And I celebrate in the joy of those for who He did.
Philippians 4:11–12: “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.”
Place those verses up against the wisdom of the left today, where they try to convince everyone to believe we all deserve to be on the same level playing field and we should tear down and destroy any system that prevents that. Merit means nothing. Power and property without earning it does. I know which ideology causes ulcers, and it’s not God’s.
When everyone is being paid the same, nobody cares to try and do good work. If everyone around you at work is lazy, you stop working.
All this does for everyone is lack of ambition and stagnation.
If you work harder and do more you should be compensated accordingly.
Reminds me of my teaching career! As a high school math teacher, my students were expected to pass state exams at the end of the year so I worked very hard to help them do that. Some of the "fluff" subject teachers could listen to music and paint their nails during the school day! All teachers on the same pay scale, taking into account only "years of experience."

If they don’t have the same things, it’s “inequality” in their minds. I think it’s a combination of the two that’s creating the conflicting emotions.
I paid $12.99-14.99 per lb of bacon up to two years ago thanks to Biden. All last year it was $9.99-10.99. Just two days ago I paid $8.99/lb. That’s pricing coming down, not inflating. (Just one example of many from my receipt.)

Well, good, but... The plain fact of the matter is that inflation is cumulative. Just because the inflation RATE comes down doesn't mean that prices will go down. Prices still go up, just not as fast as they did when the rate was higher. BUT... when the wage rate is higher than the inflation rate, things appear to be more affordable, and in some cases prices actually do go down, but that chain is very long indeed.

The amount of personal debt people have is by and large a matter of choices; this is an infuriating concept to lefties.
Certainly there are exceptions, but the vast majority of Americans' debt is consumer debt. And what's new in people's perceptions is they see hard times as "unfair" and look for someone else to blame.
As far as our national debt, I would challenge the average person to describe in what way that effects their daily life; they won't be able to tell you.
I AGREE!! My sister and her husband both worked and earned around the same as my husband. (I did not work most of the time while raising our children.) They had such debt she didn't know how we survived with one income. We were fine. Careful with spending but could afford modest vacations and things for our kids.
I am amazed at the amount of money people are paying as a car payment.
Car payments are a great example of the core problem. Two things have happened, first car manufacturere have added features, some mandated by govt (safety, emissions reqts) some by capitalistic strategies (power wdos, locks, RKE, fancy trim, full audio systems, etc). Second, we have bought into them, and the prices they command. My first new car 1978 Firebird had 3 speed stick, manual locks, windows, am/fm monaural radio, cost $2700. My recent Equinox cost $30k, but has power everything, wifi, bluetooth, multi speaker stereo, clean exhause, 30mpg...We don't "have" to get all the bennies, but we "want to", and car makers are happy to help.
The core is we want all the bennies. If we are in debt, then we should stifle those wants, buy basic transportation, used, "pre owned" or don't drive. Same applies to housing. Houses of yesteryear cost less partly because they contained less. One example: when my 30yo washer finally died, i didn't buy the $2k horizontal maxifeature washer, but another conventional for $350. It does have the low water option, a stainless tub, etc. But way less $$ and way less to go wrong.
Of course, all I just said is only part of the problem. A big chunk is inflation that the Fed tries to keep at "only" 2%. 2%/year compounded means everything will cost more every year even if nothing in them changes. While our government baseline diminishes our wealth every year, sometines Technology helps, electronics prices generally have reduced even with increased features. But even there we don't have to get the bennies. I paid $90 for last year's Samsung recently, not the $2k latest Iphone, and it does all I need it to do.
And don't forget what Obama's "Cash For Clunkers" program did to distort the used car market!! It took a whole lot of used cars out of circulation and made it more expensive and difficult to find a decent used car :/

Yep! The last time we bought brand new and used financing was 2000. Every car since was paid with cash. We buy used, like new when possible. Sometimes we bought a 10-15 year old beater that was well maintained and what do you know! We got to where we needed to go! And it had all doors in tact too! We haven’t had a car payment since 2005. I stubbornly refuse. I’m too spoiled now being free of that kind of debt. If everybody did that I bet new car prices would plummet quickly. If you can’t afford it with cash, you need to look at older ones until you can. Save your money while you don’t have a payment so you can afford newer with cash next time. Instead of paying someone interest, and nearly 20-30% more on the price in the long run, earn interest on your own money instead.
All we carried for the past 20 years is a mortgage. Even that is starting to irk me and I’m looking for the exit to not have one at all.
God is pretty clear to be careful indebting ourselves to others. I didn’t listen when young. 😢 Oh to reach the young today to not make the same mistakes.
As far as cars go, those bennies are wildly overpriced in order to increase the margins on the vehicle. Plus now, car companies are advertising 60-72 mo payment schedules!

In the fall of 2000 we bought a brand new Honda Odyssey. We paid $32,000 for it and our monthly car payment was $589. My mortgage payment was $800. 🤨 Just using the same ratios of today’s mortgage payments to car payments, car payments should be a lot higher than they are. Overall they ARE way too high as the sale prices are extreme and unaffordable without debt.
Yeah, this has been a significant problem in the making for a very, very long time.
But sure it’s easy to make a snippet about it today as if it’s somehow Trump’s fault. Patience grasshopper, he’s made all the right moves to turn this monster around, but it doesn’t turn overnight the way some people demand before giving him credit.

Yeah I’m teaching my sons to forfeit car payments. Cash only. But my youngest hit a snag last summer when our old odyssey beater coughed up her soul right when he moved there and had to start his new job the next morning. He was supposed to drive her until he found a really good used car, or saved up enough of a down payment to keep any auto loan to under 12 months. (That’s what our older son did and he had it paid off in 7 months.) So my youngest was stranded with no way to get a used vehicle to get to work the next day and the costs of Ubers was ridiculous. He panicked and signed a three year lease for a middle of the road make/model at the nearest dealership to where he broke down. 🤦🏼♀️ The sad part is the money he is paying each month now is what he was supposed to save for a down payment or to pay outright in cash.
We are working to help him figure out how to get back to original plans. The hard part is at their young age, if they have an income that can afford the payment, they just don’t understand why it’s not a smart idea to lease, or carry a car loan. I can see how easy it is to get trapped in that endless cycle of debt when you “think” you can afford it because you don’t have a crystal ball to show you just why you can’t.

Thank You for this nudge to the C&C group about watching this important Congressional Hearing hosted by Senator Johnson. I’m sure this will be new information for a majority of the public. Thousands of Americans and their families suffered through these deadly Covid hospital protocols. It’s the same sad story over and over of how the hospitals treated their covid patients so cruelly and ineffectively. These horrendous government policies need to change how emergencies/ pandemics are handled in the future so this murderous brutality to citizens does not re-occur. We went to the hospital for help and all we got was harm.

Hey Kelly, thanks for posting this. Got a question: my mom was in “memory care” in a nursing home, so not literally a hospital. She was denied access to her family, which with her mental state of about a 4 yr old, was extremely cruel. And she ended up dying all alone because of the draconian lockdowns. Is this data base also for such health institutions since it was not in a hospital? Thanks again. I thank the Lord for those like Ron Johnson. 🙏

A few years ago, under Biden, I had to go the local Social Security office. It was packed with foreigners. In the waiting area were a couple of large screens cycling through various bits of information. One view in the cycle contained information on registering to vote. Nothing wrong with that except it was in Spanish. I had plenty of time to sit and observe and I sat through several cycles on the screens. There was never an English version of the voter registration information, only Spanish. I'm sure it's nothing...rare and whatnot.
This makes my blood boil. Agree that for years now, any visit to any government agency like SSA, DMV, etc., the waiting room has WAY more foreigners ( I’ll use that accurate but “racist” word too! ) than English speaking folks. May God help us 😢🙏

Agreed. As a former rural Oregonian, lots of illegal farm workers are getting drivers licenses and registering to vote. DMV employees are complicit, and nitpick actual citizens’ identification but not the « English as a second language « applicants that need their children to translate. If elections are not honest, those who actually pay taxes will quit funding the corruption evident in all social programs.
