I was once down in a pit with nowhere to look but up and I saw Jesus (after I cried out to him) reach down and pull me out of the place that bad choices landed me. I’ve never looked back and try my best not to let all the crazy stuff going on get me down. A reporter interviewed a young man who is a climatologist and he was sitting down during his response. He told the reporter 2 times that it is too soon to say climate change was responsible for the glacial-mountain slide. However, the AI made video (Youtube) led the viewers through up-close "pictures" of ice melting and reporting of climate warming and managing the content in such a way that the whole disaster, by Saturday, was caused by global warming. But the climatologist said twice it was too soon to declare why the disaster had happened. Not enough checking and so forth had been done. Heck! By Saturday, I don't think anyone had been to the mountain to check out anything. And yet, Al had the answer before us in a trice!! And the whole Al generated presentation looked so real....too perfect, too artificial...but very real non-the-less. That may be why in the upper left-hand corner the video was identified as "Al generated." or some phrase like that.
What is happening now around the world is the burgeoning BEAST mentioned in Revelations - it is the technocratic/manipulative political partnership to DECEIVE and DEBAUCH (deceive people and debauch our Constitutional Republic - the only true free government on God's earth). In my first marriage (the one that gave me my 2 precious sons) my husband and I decided to forego getting a TV set for the first 5 years of our "wedded bliss". All of our family thought we were bonkers--I never missed it--but we finally gave in when our second son was about 18 months! That was probably a "fatal" mistake.
The SNAP soda situation is a no brainer... Anyone would agree that our taxpayer dollars shouldn't be subsidizing crack for addicts. Soda and sugary drinks are similar in their addictiveness, albeit (slightly) less bad for your health.
So why on earth would taxpayers be forced to subsidize soda for the unemployed and obese? Why should tax dollars pay for soda for anyone?
You're free to do cocaine or drink soda. Not my business. I don't care that Trump drinks Diet Coke. But I sure as hell don't want to pay for someone else's unhealthy choices, especially if they are gainfully unemployed.
The exclusion of soda from SNAP recipients is not really an opinion about whether people should drink soda. It's based on the concept that SNAP should help buy nutritious food, i.e., what impecunious people need. They aren't barred from drinking soda, but the public isn't obligated to pay for it.
In the 1950s people got coupons in the mail for 6 cents off soap, 3 cents off coffee, and so forth. The kids in my school took these to the local grocery store and bought candy with them. Dealers counted them as cash because there was a small mark-up on the face value for "handling." The fact that people do this doesn't make it legal.
This is tricky, who gets to say what's nutritious? A glass of orange juice has slightly (equal portions) more sugar in it than a coke cola. You can buy a bag of sugar for "baking" and put as much of it as one wants in their "healthy" drinks. Many "healthy" marketed food options are filled with sugar and seed oils. It's a slippery slope when you start letting the "experts" tell people what they can and cannot put in their body. C-19 is ringing a bell.
I most certainly do not have the answers but I do know that letting "someone" say whats healthy and whats not is dangerous, and not to mention, health is not a one size fits all. This is all very nuanced and if I had to guess our whole health care system getting an upgrade is a good start.
It's more of an exclusion of items not fitting within the definition of "nutrition," rather than a judgment of what is healthy. If an item has zero nutritional value, it is not a genuine need in a supplemental nutrition program. That's unlike C-19, which the government sought to inflict on every person at no monetary cost.
Healthy and or Nutrition is super nuanced and dependent on culture and many other variables.
To me the simple solution that weeds out all of the nuance/variables is only allow whole foods to be purchased, three ingredient max rule for purchase. That way the majority of food will be meat, dairy, fruits, veggies, beans/rice and with the 3 ingredient rule you can still get something like canned beans (beans, salt, water) for ease and still remain within the guidelines.

Truth Seeker, it absolutely is! When we were children my older sister performed an experiment for one of her classes. She put one of my teeth that the tooth fairy "forgot" to take (😄yes I cried but got a dime anyway) and let it sit for sometime in a small jar of Coke. It decayed badly.
I must be older than you, because I remember green bottles of Coca-Cola that held 6-1/2 ounces, and were sold from coin operated flat refrigerated machines. In 1960, those bottles cost one nickel plus one penny, and exact change was required.
I will never forget the smell of that bottle cap popping and that first taste. I would ride along with my dad when he drove a laundry truck. And that treat, was just beyond anything I can remember.
6.5 ounces....and now the soda comes in buckets called Super Big Gulps or even bigger--the Double Big Gulp at a whopping 50! ounces(which is about 1 full cup of sugar) And we wonder why type 2 diabetes is rampant.

My parents would let us get a soda when we went out to eat (which was a couple times a year, though maybe a couple more when we visited relatives). Only one, and if we finished it before the meal and wanted something else, we could have water. Back then, there were no refills on drinks at any restaurant. At home, I might get a soda a week, if I was good and did all my chores, as a treat. My mom drank Tab soda and said we could have as much of that as we wanted. Hint: it was terrible to my young palette as it had 1 gram of sugar in a 12 oz can (it was the original "diet" soda, before the poisonous artificial sweeteners came on the market).
The original Tab was sweetened with saccharin and cyclamate, but cyclamate was banned. Then it was aspertame instead of saccharine. The Parker Pen company made a sacharine dispenser that looked like a pen, with a pocket clip, loaded with little saccharine tablets.

DR was not some 'citizen journalist' who liked data. I like and work with data for decades myself. People thought she was acting independently all this time. What blew up was finding out who she worked for, and how she tried to explain it away with weaselly words. It was disingenuous at best. I followed her for years. Her 'tell' was in how she handled/obfuscated on the Kirk assassination. She had built up cred capital and used it to dissuade people from legitimate questions there. Right now, the Kirk assassination is a good rule to use to 'test' an influencer. The term "fed slop" is more apropos in that situation than even the Epstein Files.

She hid her background first. Knowing where someone's funding is coming from (salary or otherwise) is key. Understand limited hangouts. She went too far in her bad take on the Kirk assassination. Many people's eyes opened up at that point. It doesn't mean some of her other work isn't right. That is part of what limited hangouts accomplish. But the defacto trust factor is broken now. Just like with Bongino and Posobiec. Kirk assassination is a good ruler to use in evaluating people's openness to the truth. Believe it or not, people on our side can be bought and paid for too (and blackmailed, whether legitimately or not).
Scripture has it right when it says fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. If we fear anything else (loss of money, prestige, comfortable life, safety of family) above offending God, we are manipulable. Bad guys just need to find out that line. It's a spiritual battle first. So many Christians of the first two centuries were slaughtered because they wouldn't even toss a pinch of incense into the fire for a Caesar or false god. They understood nothing and no one in this life is more important than being right with God first. Eternity is at stake. This life is short.

WHO decides what is “healthy?” I have a friend who has thrown protein bars and such at her picky eater kids as a healthy option but I don’t think those things are healthy (long unreadable ingredient list). Our tax dollars pay for some many things I don’t want them being used for. But on the other hand, democrats have passed laws to tax sugary drinks at higher rates so yet again, they’re being hypocrites. It’s all such a mess.
Whoever is paying for them decides what's healthy. This is an incentive for the unemployed employable people to get a job, so they can have the whipped plastic and fizzy sugar drinks they crave.

Last night, I just finished listening to Nothing Left, the book written by former Democratic campaign operative Evan Barker. She tells about her years as a progressive beginning with her support for Obama as a teenager. She’d inherited a live-threatening lung disorder and benefited from Obamacare—her Midwestern family’s finances were precarious and her frequent hospital stays threatened bankruptcy. So she became a True Believer. The book traces her career becoming a top campaign fundraiser and her eventual disenchantment with the damage wrought by identity politics.
That this NYT story lands today is eerie. The number of campaign operations below the public’s radar she outlines is huge.
The book opens with her walking out of the 2024 DNC convention in disgust.
Problem is our side does it too. Remember the whole "Epstein Binder" fiasco? Just keep a list of who they were (Others as well):

What many people fail to realize is that the Deep-State controlled are not limited to just the people on the Left. People on the Right, especially elected ones, are allowed to attain to their various positions while still being 'kept in a box'. They may be able to operate 'freely' for most issues because they will be procedurally blocked or the issue is minor from a Deep State perspective. But when things become serious in risking Deep State agendas, the "Calls are made". Uncontrollable people are a risk to the 'agenda'. Why is it with 53 Senators, we only know maybe 10 off the top of our heads? And of those, half or more are basically do-nothings at this point? That isn't an accident. Look how hard they fought to try and get Cornyn back. Look at do-nothings (for the citizen) that Cruz, Cotton, and others have become. Thune is the one blocking Trump nominees, not Chuck Schumer. For X, if people have access to Grok there (as opposed to the stand-alone version) you can find shifts in the ones I mentioned. Just ask Grok about how they were posting on a topic Pre January 2025, and now. There are more than just those. I used to have a list of 80+ I could follow and expect them to be 90% good. Sadly that is down to maybe a dozen that I don't have to figure out the angle of the shift on various issues.

And why you think anyone who reads said book will all come to the same conclusion if they profess to be practicing Christians? (Christians don't hold to gnosticism.) 40,000 different protestant denominations shows the problem with that thinking.
A book (bible) cannot be self-authenticating. Actual history shows the majority of people who lived in the first century would not have been able to read/hear the majority of the books of what went on to become the new testament. And there are no originals of any of those anyway.
They had the teachings of the apostles and Paul. And a lot of what Paul wrote was letters to places AFTER he had spent time there preaching and teaching. So he wouldn't waste precious parchment ($$$) just atta-boying people on what they had gotten right in the practices themselves. He makes some encouraging passing mentions, but the focus is on correction and calling forth even more disciplined living.
Point is you rely on the Catholic Church for your bible, but reject the authority that Christ gave that Church to act in His stead here on earth. Hence the confusion on "5 Solas". Sounds good on the surface, but the foundation is built on sand.
The early Church was the Catholic Church. What came about 1,484 years later was not the church Christ founded. [And when you think about it it would be a pretty sick 'Father' who would allow His children to be deceived for that many generations. Using a genealogy generation, that is 60 generations of people before Lutheranism, let alone something more modern like Assemblies of God (75 generations), or more for the Saddlebacks, Calvarys, Vineyards, and 'store front' assemblies.] That would be some abandonment by God. I as an earthly father know not to abandon my children for even a week, let along a generation. I can't believe in a God who would abandon His children to chaos and confusion for a couple millennia.
The good news is each person seeking God doesn't have to reinvent the whole thing themselves. Christ left His Church.

Because you brought up this parable, I once heard this version that gave me goosebumps and I have never forgotten it and never heard it preached from the pulpit nor told to me by another. So, your opinion would be appreciated. Here goes: the best known version is about the Prodigal, but what if the story is about the Elder son? Who is he? What about his relationship to the Father? Does he ever change? Why is he like he is? Same father/2 sons, very different.And I think many of us see this paradox within our families, either the family we were born into or the family we have raised. Heartbreak.
Sometime in my twenties, I was an avid reader of the works of Dostoevski. In one of the Prefaces I recall reading this, that some big New York outfit sent an interviewer to Dostoevski. And I remember the interviewer saying to Dostoevski a la current mode of sophistication, “Mr. Dostoevski, they say you are a psychological writer.” This was, of course, the calculated hook put out to Dostoevski that he might bite down on it and with further intoxicating expansion. But Dostoevski did not do this. Instead Dostoevski responded, “No, what I do is plumb the human depths.” What Dostoevski knew was that formulaic short circuiting and boxing everything into a corner was a recipe for the strangulation of profundity. Dostoevski saw that life was a great and profoundly deep river and that all the psychologizing to kingdom come would only send a fewripples across the surface of a pond. And if Dostoevski has been ‘psychological writer’ then perhaps we would not know that name today.
Like Dostoevski, the Prodigal Son Parable does not seek to be ‘clever’ or ‘fashionable’. The Parable of the Prodigal Son gives us bare bones of well-connected story. It gives us the supporting cast and it goes just the right distance. The crowning glory of the parable under discussion is in the the very last lines of the parable, and from Luke 15:31 of the Geneva Bible:
“And he said vnto him, Sonne, thou art euer with me, and al that I haue, is thine. It was meete that we shoulde make merie, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is aliue againe: and hee was lost, but he is found.”
The goal in Pilgrim’s Progress is to pass through all the travail of the world, and in reaching the Wicker Gate to pass through it, and then to hew to the Straight and Narrow … and thereby live in The Light which is the Light of Christ. And so, in reading these last lines, I realized that this is a much deeper well here than just some guy going away and then who comes home, and then says he is sorry. And this may, or may not be stretching it, but there may be the hint contained within that ‘we are not saved by works alone’.
I once had a woman of whom I was fond, someone who had an uncommonly fine turn of mind. The trouble was that this women was prone to throwing world class fits, maybe the result of deep trouble in a previous marriage with a wandering man. To the above paragraph, I had tried all lines of attack to get Carol beyond her deep seated anger and torment. I have given your questions a lot of deliberation. I think I have failed to adequately respond. But with life being full of such deep rivers and broad spreading plains, what should I have expected? But then again, there is worth in probing, asking questions … and even so with not ever getting to the bottom of the well. And it seems that we always do learn something whenever we exert ourselves.

I miss Rush Limbaugh and even Glenn Beck on Fox News. Does anyone still listen to Glenn Beck anymore? I occasionally see things he puts out but only snippets here and there. I mainly follow C&C and read the comments for links.
I still listen to Glenn (first discovered him while he was still at CNN!) and appreciate his viewpoint for many reasons. He is a great storyteller and constantly probing topics and discussing with guests many issues I don’t hear about elsewhere. It is insightful and thought-provoking. It’s another part of the spectrum of conservative thought that informs, educates and entertains, just like C&C.
If his program is not on your local (conservative-oriented) radio station — it’s an AM station in my area — you can pull it up on the I Heart Radio app. Look for The Blaze Radio Network. That’s where I tend to listen in the mornings.
I liked Beck, but stopped listening to Glenn regularly when he made everything "must pay". All the articles at his site are hidden now until you pay. I only catch him if he records something for public release.
I miss Rush. He was good a far as he went which was pretty far for the day, for the time in which he lived.
Glenn Beck was fabulous. And remember that Lincoln Monument /Reflecting Pool Washington event which Beck organized. I was there that day. Great speakers, very orderly just like old America, and no litter or trash whatsoever anywhere to be seen. Clean as a whistle as they say. There were hundreds of thousands of people there. More people than the Fake Media ever wanted to say. And the sky was filled with spy helicopters and no telling what 'they' had on the ground. And this was the height of Glenn Beck.
After the national attention getting Washington, D.C., event something changed with Beck. I think the Deep State types decided Beck was getting way too, too influential to suit them. And I can't prove it, but I think that Beck and likely his family were threatened with some kind of 'unpleasantness' and/or there may have been some kind of control file, or whatever. We will never know for sure. But Beck was never the same thereafter.
I had a political platform to speak from in Virginia having to do with the Constitution Party. I did not see really, really bad stuff like poor Charlie Kirk getting knocked off, but I saw bad enough ... and some really vicious cunning stuff. Having had this kind of experience makes a lot of evil stuff more real to me than it otherwise would have been had I not be very active during the heyday of the Tea Party era.
If it is possible, a lot of these political types don't just have bad morals, they have negative morals. And that would be no morals at all , no conscience whatsoever ... and the end always justifies the means. And many of the types, especially at the upper levels, don't care how many people they kill, maim or ruin.

I was once down in a pit with nowhere to look but up and I saw Jesus (after I cried out to him) reach down and pull me out of the place that bad choices landed me. I’ve never looked back and try my best not to let all the crazy stuff going on get me down. But the climatologist said twice it was too soon to declare why the disaster had happened. Not enough checking and so forth had been done. Heck! By Saturday, I don't think anyone had been to the mountain to check out anything. And yet, Al had the answer before us in a trice!! And the whole Al generated presentation looked so real....too perfect, too artificial...but very real non-the-less. That may be why in the upper left-hand corner the video was identified as "Al generated." or some phrase like that.

In my first marriage (the one that gave me my 2 precious sons) my husband and I decided to forego getting a TV set for the first 5 years of our "wedded bliss". All of our family thought we were bonkers--I never missed it--but we finally gave in when our second son was about 18 months! That was probably a "fatal" mistake.
The SNAP soda situation is a no brainer... Anyone would agree that our taxpayer dollars shouldn't be subsidizing crack for addicts. Soda and sugary drinks are similar in their addictiveness, albeit (slightly) less bad for your health.
So why on earth would taxpayers be forced to subsidize soda for the unemployed and obese? Why should tax dollars pay for soda for anyone?

The exclusion of soda from SNAP recipients is not really an opinion about whether people should drink soda. It's based on the concept that SNAP should help buy nutritious food, i.e., what impecunious people need. They aren't barred from drinking soda, but the public isn't obligated to pay for it.

In the 1950s people got coupons in the mail for 6 cents off soap, 3 cents off coffee, and so forth. The kids in my school took these to the local grocery store and bought candy with them. Dealers counted them as cash because there was a small mark-up on the face value for "handling." The fact that people do this doesn't make it legal.
This is tricky, who gets to say what's nutritious? A glass of orange juice has slightly (equal portions) more sugar in it than a coke cola. You can buy a bag of sugar for "baking" and put as much of it as one wants in their "healthy" drinks. Many "healthy" marketed food options are filled with sugar and seed oils. It's a slippery slope when you start letting the "experts" tell people what they can and cannot put in their body. C-19 is ringing a bell.
I most certainly do not have the answers but I do know that letting "someone" say whats healthy and whats not is dangerous, and not to mention, health is not a one size fits all. This is all very nuanced and if I had to guess our whole health care system getting an upgrade is a good start.
It's more of an exclusion of items not fitting within the definition of "nutrition," rather than a judgment of what is healthy. If an item has zero nutritional value, it is not a genuine need in a supplemental nutrition program. That's unlike C-19, which the government sought to inflict on every person at no monetary cost.
Healthy and or Nutrition is super nuanced and dependent on culture and many other variables.
To me the simple solution that weeds out all of the nuance/variables is only allow whole foods to be purchased, three ingredient max rule for purchase. That way the majority of food will be meat, dairy, fruits, veggies, beans/rice and with the 3 ingredient rule you can still get something like canned beans (beans, salt, water) for ease and still remain within the guidelines.
What really get me is when you read about people using their EBT at head shops for over the counter drugs, like bathsalts and whatever other crap people are using.

I must be older than you, because I remember green bottles of Coca-Cola that held 6-1/2 ounces, and were sold from coin operated flat refrigerated machines. In 1960, those bottles cost one nickel plus one penny, and exact change was required.
AND those bottles were made of non toxic GLASS
AND kids could carry them to the distributor and collect two cents cash money for each one. Recycling 1960 style, before it was socially hip!
I will never forget the smell of that bottle cap popping and that first taste. I would ride along with my dad when he drove a laundry truck. And that treat, was just beyond anything I can remember.
6.5 ounces....and now the soda comes in buckets called Super Big Gulps or even bigger--the Double Big Gulp at a whopping 50! ounces(which is about 1 full cup of sugar) And we wonder why type 2 diabetes is rampant.

Many stores in the DC area sell Mexican Coke/Fanta, which are sugar. A case used to cast about $24 at Sam's and BJs, but has gone up to $36, so I haven't bought any in quite some time.

I grew up one of nine kids; a soda was divided by at least 3 or 4 glasses.
We had to divide a 12 oz Pepsi 3 or four ways. I’d get my nose at tabletop level and pour very carefully so nobody got more than me. Lol. My brother licked a spill off the table once. Yes, it was a big treat. Hubby shared when he divided a bottle with his younger brother, he would put ice in his brothers glass first, but not his. Lil’Bro was none the wiser. We called it “pop” here in Midwest. I think there is some borderline where it turns into “soda”. We were a Pepsi pop and Skippy peanut butter family.
My dad had a rule when dividing things for siblings. One person got to pour, the OTHER person got first choice. Our pours were as close as humanly possible.😆

My parents would let us get a soda when we went out to eat (which was a couple times a year, though maybe a couple more when we visited relatives). Only one, and if we finished it before the meal and wanted something else, we could have water. Back then, there were no refills on drinks at any restaurant. At home, I might get a soda a week, if I was good and did all my chores, as a treat. My mom drank Tab soda and said we could have as much of that as we wanted. Hint: it was terrible to my young palette as it had 1 gram of sugar in a 12 oz can (it was the original "diet" soda, before the poisonous artificial sweeteners came on the market).

DR was not some 'citizen journalist' who liked data. I like and work with data for decades myself. People thought she was acting independently all this time. What blew up was finding out who she worked for, and how she tried to explain it away with weaselly words. It was disingenuous at best. I followed her for years. Her 'tell' was in how she handled/obfuscated on the Kirk assassination. She had built up cred capital and used it to dissuade people from legitimate questions there. Scripture has it right when it says fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. If we fear anything else (loss of money, prestige, comfortable life, safety of family) above offending God, we are manipulable. Bad guys just need to find out that line. It's a spiritual battle first. So many Christians of the first two centuries were slaughtered because they wouldn't even toss a pinch of incense into the fire for a Caesar or false god. They understood nothing and no one in this life is more important than being right with God first. Eternity is at stake. This life is short.

Idk, yet again, this feels like murky water. WHO decides what is “healthy?” I have a friend who has thrown protein bars and such at her picky eater kids as a healthy option but I don’t think those things are healthy (long unreadable ingredient list). Our tax dollars pay for some many things I don’t want them being used for. But on the other hand, democrats have passed laws to tax sugary drinks at higher rates so yet again, they’re being hypocrites. It’s all such a mess.

Last night, I just finished listening to Nothing Left, the book written by former Democratic campaign operative Evan Barker. She tells about her years as a progressive beginning with her support for Obama as a teenager. She’d inherited a live-threatening lung disorder and benefited from Obamacare—her Midwestern family’s finances were precarious and her frequent hospital stays threatened bankruptcy. So she became a True Believer. The book traces her career becoming a top campaign fundraiser and her eventual disenchantment with the damage wrought by identity politics.
That this NYT story lands today is eerie. The number of campaign operations below the public’s radar she outlines is huge.
The book opens with her walking out of the 2024 DNC convention in disgust.

I've followed all the above mentioned for years on X. It is evident by what they post now versus prior on things like the Epstein List. And what they choose to ignore on the Kirk assassination. I've been blocked by a few for asking follow-up questions on X. For those of us who followed Dan Bongino the past decade, it is very clear with him that something happened. What many people fail to realize is that the Deep-State controlled are not limited to just the people on the Left. People on the Right, especially elected ones, are allowed to attain to their various positions while still being 'kept in a box'. They may be able to operate 'freely' for most issues because they will be procedurally blocked or the issue is minor from a Deep State perspective. But when things become serious in risking Deep State agendas, the "Calls are made". Uncontrollable people are a risk to the 'agenda'. Why is it with 53 Senators, we only know maybe 10 off the top of our heads? And of those, half or more are basically do-nothings at this point? That isn't an accident. Look how hard they fought to try and get Cornyn back. Look at do-nothings (for the citizen) that Cruz, Cotton, and others have become. Thune is the one blocking Trump nominees, not Chuck Schumer. Have we had a good Republican Speaker since Newt? No reason we still go through the continuing fund resolution when we controlled House and Senate in Trump 1.0 and Trump 2.0 first two years of each.

A book (bible) cannot be self-authenticating. Actual history shows the majority of people who lived in the first century would not have been able to read/hear the majority of the books of what went on to become the new testament. And there are no originals of any of those anyway.
They had the teachings of the apostles and Paul. And a lot of what Paul wrote was letters to places AFTER he had spent time there preaching and teaching. So he wouldn't waste precious parchment ($$$) just atta-boying people on what they had gotten right in the practices themselves. He makes some encouraging passing mentions, but the focus is on correction and calling forth even more disciplined living.
Point is you rely on the Catholic Church for your bible, but reject the authority that Christ gave that Church to act in His stead here on earth. Hence the confusion on "5 Solas". Sounds good on the surface, but the foundation is built on sand.
The early Church was the Catholic Church. What came about 1,484 years later was not the church Christ founded. [And when you think about it it would be a pretty sick 'Father' who would allow His children to be deceived for that many generations. Using a genealogy generation, that is 60 generations of people before Lutheranism, let alone something more modern like Assemblies of God (75 generations), or more for the Saddlebacks, Calvarys, Vineyards, and 'store front' assemblies.] That would be some abandonment by God. I as an earthly father know not to abandon my children for even a week, let along a generation. I can't believe in a God who would abandon His children to chaos and confusion for a couple millennia.

So, your opinion would be appreciated. Here goes: the best known version is about the Prodigal, but what if the story is about the Elder son? Who is he? What about his relationship to the Father? Does he ever change? Why is he like he is? Same father/2 sons, very different.And I think many of us see this paradox within our families, either the family we were born into or the family we have raised. Heartbreak.

Sometime in my twenties, I was an avid reader of the works of Dostoevski. In one of the Prefaces I recall reading this, that some big New York outfit sent an interviewer to Dostoevski. And I remember the interviewer saying to Dostoevski a la current mode of sophistication, “Mr. Dostoevski, they say you are a psychological writer.” This was, of course, the calculated hook put out to Dostoevski that he might bite down on it and with further intoxicating expansion. But Dostoevski did not do this. Instead Dostoevski responded, “No, what I do is plumb the human depths.” What Dostoevski knew was that formulaic short circuiting and boxing everything into a corner was a recipe for the strangulation of profundity. Dostoevski saw that life was a great and profoundly deep river and that all the psychologizing to kingdom come would only send a fewripples across the surface of a pond. And if Dostoevski has been ‘psychological writer’ then perhaps we would not know that name today.
Like Dostoevski, the Prodigal Son Parable does not seek to be ‘clever’ or ‘fashionable’. The Parable of the Prodigal Son gives us bare bones of well-connected story. It gives us the supporting cast and it goes just the right distance. The crowning glory of the parable under discussion is in the the very last lines of the parable, and from Luke 15:31 of the Geneva Bible:
“And he said vnto him, Sonne, thou art euer with me, and al that I haue, is thine. It was meete that we shoulde make merie, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is aliue againe: and hee was lost, but he is found.”
The goal in Pilgrim’s Progress is to pass through all the travail of the world, and in reaching the Wicker Gate to pass through it, and then to hew to the Straight and Narrow … and thereby live in The Light which is the Light of Christ. And so, in reading these last lines, I realized that this is a much deeper well here than just some guy going away and then who comes home, and then says he is sorry. And indeed, the last lines of the parable are the core message of the Gospel.
So as to human nature, and the Eldest Son? The Eldest Son appears to be caught in the the Slough of Despond, mired by the usual to be expected attitudes of The World. That is, and for one, the Eldest Son is outraged by the celebration and he has cause in that normally bad behavior should not be so rewarded. But there is more. Would the Eldest Son be not of The World, but have his gaze fixed on God the Father his worldly cares would eclipsed by the bounty of the Lord. And the Eldest Son would have realized that no one of us can count on being absolutely owed anything by anyone, not in this life. Oddly, and the irony of it was that the Younger Son was dead but is now alive, but the Eldest Son who did not wander is now the one in need of being reborn again so as to enter into the light and leave darkness behind. And still we are not done because the Eldest Son believes his works count and yet does not see his worldly spiritual blindness. And this may, or may not be stretching it, but there may be the hint contained within that ‘we are not saved by works alone’.
I once had a woman of whom I was fond, someone who had an uncommonly fine turn of mind. The trouble was that this women was prone to throwing world class fits, maybe the result of deep trouble in a previous marriage with a wandering man. Be that as it may be, she improved over time, enough so that I decided that it was opportune to risk marriage. Well, we had not been too long married and she threw one of those world class fits in world class spades. I can’t not remember what it was, but I was so fit to be tied that I jumped into my truck and off I was down a country road. I had not gotten too far before I turned and went home. Sometimes the rest of Scripture comes into play, like not holding onto one’s anger unduly long. After three years of marriage, my wife died of a what the doctors called ‘a stuttering’ heart attack. After she was gone, I used to visit my wife’s mother from time to time. To the above paragraph, I had tried all lines of attack to get Carol beyond her deep seated anger and torment. In the end, it was not abandoning Carol with all the family expected to arrive, not giving up on someone and that two wrongs don’t make a right, and the troubles vanished like fog lifting from a valley. Who would have thought that is all it would take … but I add, all in God’s good time. Very often we cannot reason our way out of trouble, sometimes it takes something larger than anything we are able to imagine. I’ve learned not to be a magic instant interventionist, but to just give things their time. And to do this, I have had to learn both humility and patience.
I have given your questions a lot of deliberation. I think I have failed to adequately respond. But with life being full of such deep rivers and broad spreading plains, what should I have expected? In the end, life cannot be bottled and sold. And we will never get to the bottom of it. Our minds are just too small, and God and his wonders are too large and beyond our fathoming. But then again, there is worth in probing, asking questions … and even so with not ever getting to the bottom of the well. And it seems that we always do learn something whenever we exert ourselves.

I miss Rush Limbaugh and even Glenn Beck on Fox News. Does anyone still listen to Glenn Beck anymore? I occasionally see things he puts out but only snippets here and there. I mainly follow C&C and read the comments for links.
I still listen to Glenn (first discovered him while he was still at CNN!) and appreciate his viewpoint for many reasons. He is a great storyteller and constantly probing topics and discussing with guests many issues I don’t hear about elsewhere. It is insightful and thought-provoking. It’s another part of the spectrum of conservative thought that informs, educates and entertains, just like C&C.
Where’s the best place to hear Glenn Beck?
If his program is not on your local (conservative-oriented) radio station — it’s an AM station in my area — you can pull it up on the I Heart Radio app. Look for The Blaze Radio Network. That’s where I tend to listen in the mornings.
I liked Beck, but stopped listening to Glenn regularly when he made everything "must pay". All the articles at his site are hidden now until you pay. I only catch him if he records something for public release.
Pretty sure once he became a Mormon they encouraged the monetization angle so a percentage would flow to them.
I miss Rush. He was good a far as he went which was pretty far for the day, for the time in which he lived.
Glenn Beck was fabulous. And remember that Lincoln Monument /Reflecting Pool Washington event which Beck organized. I was there that day. Great speakers, very orderly just like old America, and no litter or trash whatsoever anywhere to be seen. Clean as a whistle as they say. There were hundreds of thousands of people there. More people than the Fake Media ever wanted to say. And the sky was filled with spy helicopters and no telling what 'they' had on the ground. And this was the height of Glenn Beck.
After the national attention getting Washington, D.C., event something changed with Beck. I think the Deep State types decided Beck was getting way too, too influential to suit them. And I can't prove it, but I think that Beck and likely his family were threatened with some kind of 'unpleasantness' and/or there may have been some kind of control file, or whatever. We will never know for sure. But Beck was never the same thereafter.
I had a political platform to speak from in Virginia having to do with the Constitution Party. I did not see really, really bad stuff like poor Charlie Kirk getting knocked off, but I saw bad enough ... and some really vicious cunning stuff. Having had this kind of experience makes a lot of evil stuff more real to me than it otherwise would have been had I not be very active during the heyday of the Tea Party era.
If it is possible, a lot of these political types don't just have bad morals, they have negative morals. And that would be no morals at all , no conscience whatsoever ... and the end always justifies the means. And many of the types, especially at the upper levels, don't care how many people they kill, maim or ruin.
The other astonishing thing I learned from a brief foray into the political world, and to varying degrees, most of the political class are as stupid as stones, and most often believe their own justifications and guiding ideologies ... and they make idols out of everything so long as it is good for the collective (code for meaning them). That is to say, these people are highly properly under-educated and don't have a Scriptural bone in their bodies. They are evil incarnate.

now is known about Mexico (migration, drugs, cartels, absolute political corruption, etc.) and so Mexico is now is probably too hard to sell to the American public. But Mexico does not have to be 'formalized' in order to be totally controlled by a larger, more powerful, more formidable political entity.
The aim, so I believe, is re-industrialization ... which by the way has the ability to create dollar demand ... plus an enlarged resource base under one political umbrella and encompassing law harmonization. This solves a lot of problems, like currency translation, tariffing, market jurisdiction and access, supply chains accessing, etc.
People are and always will be connected. And somehow, nothing much these days surprises me.

TRM, I noticed today he said he doesn't punch right. I suspect he is not happy with the war either, but with his focus on positivity and now saying he doesn't punch right, well, that does seem to explain why he doesn't write about it anymore. Just my opinion, I can't speak for Jeff, of course.
I think that's why I love the comics. Punch every which way when it's wrong. Left, right, up, down, front and back.
The whole "don't punch right" line is lame IMHO. If the right does something stupid you call it out or you're in a cult. At that point it's just tribal.
