The SNAP soda situation is a no brainer... Anyone would agree that our taxpayer dollars shouldn't be subsidizing crack for addicts. Soda and sugary drinks are similar in their addictiveness, albeit (slightly) less bad for your health.
So why on earth would taxpayers be forced to subsidize soda for the unemployed and obese? Why should tax dollars pay for soda for anyone?
You're free to do cocaine or drink soda. Not my business. I don't care that Trump drinks Diet Coke. But I sure as hell don't want to pay for someone else's unhealthy choices, especially if they are gainfully unemployed.
The exclusion of soda from SNAP recipients is not really an opinion about whether people should drink soda. It's based on the concept that SNAP should help buy nutritious food, i.e., what impecunious people need. They aren't barred from drinking soda, but the public isn't obligated to pay for it.

I must be older than you, because I remember green bottles of Coca-Cola that held 6-1/2 ounces, and were sold from coin operated flat refrigerated machines. In 1960, those bottles cost one nickel plus one penny, and exact change was required.
I will never forget the smell of that bottle cap popping and that first taste. I would ride along with my dad when he drove a laundry truck. And that treat, was just beyond anything I can remember.
6.5 ounces....and now the soda comes in buckets called Super Big Gulps or even bigger--the Double Big Gulp at a whopping 50! ounces(which is about 1 full cup of sugar) And we wonder why type 2 diabetes is rampant.

We had to divide a 12 oz Pepsi 3 or four ways. I’d get my nose at tabletop level and pour very carefully so nobody got more than me. Lol. My brother licked a spill off the table once. Yes, it was a big treat. Hubby shared when he divided a bottle with his younger brother, he would put ice in his brothers glass first, but not his. Lil’Bro was none the wiser. We called it “pop” here in Midwest. I think there is some borderline where it turns into “soda”. We were a Pepsi pop and Skippy peanut butter family.

She tells about her years as a progressive beginning with her support for Obama as a teenager. She’d inherited a live-threatening lung disorder and benefited from Obamacare—her Midwestern family’s finances were precarious and her frequent hospital stays threatened bankruptcy. So she became a True Believer. The book traces her career becoming a top campaign fundraiser and her eventual disenchantment with the damage wrought by identity politics.
That this NYT story lands today is eerie. The number of campaign operations below the public’s radar she outlines is huge.
The book opens with her walking out of the 2024 DNC convention in disgust.

But when things become serious in risking Deep State agendas, the "Calls are made". Uncontrollable people are a risk to the 'agenda'. Why is it with 53 Senators, we only know maybe 10 off the top of our heads? And of those, half or more are basically do-nothings at this point? That isn't an accident. For X, if people have access to Grok there (as opposed to the stand-alone version) you can find shifts in the ones I mentioned. Just ask Grok about how they were posting on a topic Pre January 2025, and now. There are more than just those. I used to have a list of 80+ I could follow and expect them to be 90% good. Sadly that is down to maybe a dozen that I don't have to figure out the angle of the shift on various issues.

I still listen to Glenn (first discovered him while he was still at CNN!) and appreciate his viewpoint for many reasons. He is a great storyteller and constantly probing topics and discussing with guests many issues I don’t hear about elsewhere. It is insightful and thought-provoking. It’s another part of the spectrum of conservative thought that informs, educates and entertains, just like C&C.

I miss Rush Limbaugh and even Glenn Beck on Fox News. Does anyone still listen to Glenn Beck anymore? I occasionally see things he puts out but only snippets here and there. I mainly follow C&C and read the comments for links.
I still listen to Glenn (first discovered him while he was still at CNN!) and appreciate his viewpoint for many reasons. He is a great storyteller and constantly probing topics and discussing with guests many issues I don’t hear about elsewhere. It is insightful and thought-provoking. It’s another part of the spectrum of conservative thought that informs, educates and entertains, just like C&C.

It is extremely offensive that an active duty Army officer, LTC Adam D'Ortona posting as @infantrydort, is posting FED slop during normal working hours from his job in the Pentagon, totally violating the Army's strict social media policy.
I didn't like it when this kind of crap happened under the Biden administration especially with the push for the covid jabs, and it seems even more offensive under the Trump administration.
