There's a brigade sized group of Russians who just up and surrendered to Ukrainians. They appear to be undermotivated and poorly equipped conscripts.

Ukrainian DRG guys are well inside Russia causing havoc. This was an ambush a week ago

Not that you will, but I'd suggest watching The Duran and/or History Legends on YouTube for less biased reporting & analysis of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Yes, this was a successful surprise attack. Ukraine used non NATO tactics to gain a lot of sparsely populated territory. However, they can't support those troops and will be cut off by the Russian counter attack.

Russia is able to more consistently rotate their troops from the front with fighting age fresh faces. They aren't running low on anything, whereas Ukraine is running out of everything.

This was a last, desperate move of a country that is badly losing the war. My speculation is the reason is for a better negotiating position for the soon to be coming peace talks. If the troops can hold out for a few months.
