I wanted to say something to the young mask-wearing pharmacy tech at Costco last week, but I’m not as brave as your hubbie so I kept silent. She was really absurd though, with her N95 perched precariously on the very tip of her nose, and wide gaps on either side of her nose, which got even bigger when she talked. It was so ridiculous it would have been funny if it wasn’t such a sure sign of another young adult permanent broken by all the lies.
A while back at the grocery the woman who watches as you self checkout was wearing a mask and it was so nasty. I told her that her mask was doing her more harm than good since if it is not washed every day harmful bacteria and other things build up in it. Short version: She pulled her mask down and was missing teeth. She was embarrassed. She lost them in 2020. I asked her to consider whether it might be the mask that was causing the tooth loss. I haven't seen her since, but my dentist said he would work with her (at cost) to get her front and incisor back in (or at least a fake one). There are good people in the world. She had a sweet smile even without some teeth.
