IMO Hitler was always going to war, given his faulty marxist-style ideas of "shrinking markets" being to blame for economic trouble (instead of putting the blame where it belonged: the increase in centralized government control and unsustainable social programs). The "stolen lands" were just a convenient excuse.

It's still fair to acknowledge that things would have been better economically in Germany if the "peace treaty" had been less oppressive, so who knows whether he might never have had enough support to seize power in the first place... *shrug*
