I knew Jeff would clear things up for us, and keep us in a positive attitude. These clarifications from the SC are wins.

No matter what happens to that smug looking Lisa Cook at the Fed, Trump is working to replace that corrupt unconstitutional central bank and make it obsolete. Every "member" of that board are leeches on American citizens and serve zero purpose.

Jpeach's avatar

Trump will need to twist and break some arms in the Senate to get the SAVE Act passed. Replacing the Parlimentarian is also “Must Do”. Daylight is burning, so it’s time brutal measures.

Barbls's avatar

The Parlimentarian doesn't even need to be replaced. Her opinions are not rulings, and the Senate Leader can ignore or overrule them. Since Thune refuses to exercise this authority, one must continue to wonder how nearsighted he is. Why will he not force the Democrat Senators to go on record voting against the SAVE Act, which even their own Democrat constituents favor by 80%?

CStone's avatar

Because Thune has never been a Republican. He rAn as a Conservative, but he has always been a RAT.

CStone's avatar

Exactly…..add Murkowski and Collins.

Others have been primaried and lost their jobs, thankfully.

Mike Ware's avatar

Hopefully, he’ll be gone to the graveyard soon enough.

Steenroid's avatar

And today’s rulings can wait until Jeff discusses tomorrow.

zabs's avatar

I hope he can talk me off the bridge regarding birthright citizenship.

Steenroid's avatar

Me too. Something needs to change with this antiquated amendment.

Barbls's avatar

"

"under the jurisdiction of" is pretty clear. The amendment isn't the problem.

Garden Lover's avatar

Yeah, this pissed me off. The interpretation is wrong.

Arnold C Fossen's avatar

That decision was a travesty. It completely ignored national security concerns, and the fact birthright citizenship was established solely to protect blacks. Moreover, the statement these babies were subject to our laws was ridiculous, as millions of them are only subject to Chinese laws. This decision was about hurting PDJT. Our constitution is not a suicide pact.

Juju's avatar

And doesn’t JD Vance have power to overrule Thune?

Jpeach's avatar

I do not know the Senate procedures and politics behind not replacing Thune as majority leader. Thune clearly is blocking Trump at every turn.

BD's avatar

Remember...Thune is nothing but a McConnell acolyte.

Barbls's avatar

That I do not know. I've seen that claim, but not a statute or law to back it.

Does the VEEP's roll in the Senate extend beyond vote tie-breaking and chairing the certification of Presidential election counts?

Occam's avatar

We accept your terms ;)

Juju's avatar

They just upheld Birthright Citizenship. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I can’t see an upside to allowing CCP to drop babies in the U.S. to then later return to the U.S. and run for president in say 35 years. Really looking forward to Jeff’s take on this

Sunnydaze's avatar

I’m so disgusted by this. I don’t care how much we try to be fair with scotus - they ARE compromised. They rule based on blackmail or their own safety or for political points. There is no way birthright citizenship was EVER meant to be what the deep state has turned it into - a self destructive weapon. I’m sickened today.

Juju's avatar

Original intent for the 14th amendment is so clear, I can’t see why SCOTUS would ignore it.

Sunnydaze's avatar

They have been comprised for a long time that’s why. The fact that we even know which side of the aisle they belong is proof enough they are all compromised in some form or another. This is sick. And for those saying Congress will have to fix this - we’ll self destruct first. Congress are useless turds also bought and paid for. We haven’t had real representation in this country for my entire lifetime…and longer!

Kathleen Janoski's avatar

Lots of suspicion around the adoption of Robert's two kids.

Many feel it was illegal.

Juju's avatar

What I don’t get is how that’s adoption to legal citizen parents, whereas anchor babies are an entirely different issue. Is Barret conflating the two?

Kathleen Janoski's avatar

Re: Barrett...I always joke and ask if she bought those 2 Haitian kids from the Clintons.

Kathleen Janoski's avatar

Apparently there was some circuitous route to adopt those 2 kids which apparently are Irish, and the adoptions of Irish children to foreigners is extremely difficult.

PEL's avatar

At this point I feel if people suspect adoption shenanigans and then it’s confirmed now many years later what can be done? So I don’t buy that story. It’s already out there. He may just be a swamp creature like so many in Congress.

Dave aka Geezermann's avatar

Just hearing this. After yesterday many expected this to come down today. I don't know how Jeff will help me accept this ruling. There is an entire industry built around birthright tourism, where the whole intent is to have foreigners give birth in America to take advantage of this stupidity.

PEL's avatar

Yep this one is bad. The supremes think birth tourism ok then. Wow. Speechless.

The Supreme Court is expected to rule Tuesday in Trump v. Barbara, a high-stakes challenge to President Donald Trump's 2025 executive order that seeks to restrict automatic birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment for children of illegal immigrants and temporary visa holders. In the event the court rules against Trump, a number of Congressional Republicans have legislation pending that could practically accomplish what a different ruling would have done.

"American citizenship is a priceless privilege that must be protected, not exploited. We must restore integrity to our immigration system, uphold the rule of law, and protect the value of American citizenship for generations to come," Rep. Brian Babin, R-Texas, told Just The News.

Several bills, most notably the Birthright Citizenship Act introduced by Babin and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., one day after Trump's inauguration in 2025 (and similar versions in recent Congresses), seek to end or sharply restrict automatic birthright citizenship by amending the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).

There are five SCOTUS rulings that to be a NATURAL BORN citizen, a requirement to run for president. Both parents must be citizens. Even the dissent did not mention being able to run for president, just that they could in future Cole and go here as they please and travel the world on a US passport. (This is also what Birthers got wrong about Obama - his father was not a citizen and thus he was unqualified to run for president)

Just finished reading that. But with Thune’s betrayals, and other Rhinos, how will they get the votes to pass it?

DDForTruth's avatar

TAW

My take is that after midterms, it WILL be made into Law via Congress because after becoming what they declared they would never be, (insert sarcastic laugh and massive eye roll here), the now new Communist Democratic party will cease to exist, and so will the power of the upholders of it.

And it will be up to the new NOT activist federal judges to uphold that LAW, not the SC.

Timing is everything Friend.

Also, as the saying goes, there is more than one way to, welp, you get the gist of that...cuz I don't wanna say it. I LOVE cats!!

Sunnydaze's avatar

Scotus just upheld birthright citizenship to illegals. That’s the headline. Will be interesting to see Jeff break this down tomorrow.

I hope Jeff will also discuss NH District Judge Joseph Laplante's July 10, 2025 "setup" ruling that held that "unborn" children of illegal immigrants were being deprived of their "right" to citizenship on birth by Trump's executive order. Let's hear more about rights of the "unborn."

OK, here's the Cliff's Notes version: https://blog.12min.com/the-creature-from-jekyll-island-pdf/ As Thomas Jefferson said: “If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency first by inflation then by deflation the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered... I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs.”

Based on a few similar verses, using Isaiah 12:2 as an example we find:

Isaiah 12:2 (KJV) Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

If you look at the Hebrew words used here, Jehovah (as the KJV translates it) is the word we know as Yahweh - יהוה. The word translated “salvation” is the Hebrew word Yeshuah - ישועה. Yeshua is Jesus’ Hebrew name. So if we substitute these names back into Isaiah 12:2, we have:

Isaiah 12:2 (KJV) Behold, God is my [Yeshuah]; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD [Yahweh] is my strength and my song; he also is become my [Yeshuah].

Yahweh having become my Yeshuah, and Yeshuah being the son of God, through the lens of Isaiah 12:2, your comment has some merit.

This is also why when Simeon sees young Jesus in Luke 2, he says:

Luke 2:30 (KJV) For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

Now I’m curious, what Sumerian texts refer to Yahweh as a son of God and is it something I can find on Internet Archive?

I have forecasted the weather for June 29th successfully every single year for over 30 years after noticing that the prior 20 years always gave me a sunny and 80°+ day every birthday. Even if it rained for an hour it always opened up to clear sunny skies. Imagine my shock when I was certain this year would break my track record when yesterday bloomed into a high 80s sunny day. I spent it in my pool. 😎

Also, for 19 straight years, our first swim ranged from late March to Memorial Day. This is the very first year we were unable to swim until the end of June! 🤣 Such a weird thing. Pool owners notice these trends. Lol

In Trump v. Lisa Cook, I see a common sense respect of due process. Imagine if they had allowed Trump to fire cook based on being accused. What would prevent a future liberal president from firing ever conservative based on being accused of crazy stuff by unhinged liberals?

They would carry the accusations with no defense into the rest of their lives.

In Trump v Slaughter, they allow a President to fire at his pleasure, so when a liberal president fires conservatives, because politics, that’s a badge of honor.

They could carry that badge into private sector with pride.

Very well played SCOTUS.

JasonT's avatar

I understand the sentiment but every policy level position in the Executive should be at will to minimize stonewalling and sabotage.

Dolce Far Niente's avatar

It is only very recently that we as a people have realized that there IS stonewalling and sabotage from the Deep State.

Up until 2016, I think we assumed the bureaucracy backed the Executive, not really realizing the independent nature of the DS.

And at one time they probably did. In my lifetime the parties have become utterly estranged, until they are actually repelling each other like magnets. I don't see how we avoid bloodshed, I really don't.

Jerri Hinojosa's avatar

Agreed. As Jeff pointed out, the facts in the case were that President Trump’s lawyers had already conceded that Cook could only be fired “for cause” and they alleged good cause. SCOTUS is required by the constitution (and it is a basic conservative principle) that decisions should be made based only on the facts in front of them. Those facts included the inconvenient fact that Trump’s lawyers had conceded that they needed to show cause, and they alleged mortgage fraud. Based on those narrow facts, they simply held Cook was entitled to defend herself. In future cases, there will be no “good cause” requirement and the President will just fire people at will. Sometimes that will cut for Republicans and sometimes for Democrats. I see no betrayal, just a conservative approach. While it may not have been wrong to hold that the Lisa Cook issue was moot in light of Slaughter, it was more “conservative” to decide the issue based on the facts of Cook’s case. I wouldn’t be surprised if the District Court let her put her defense in the record and held the issue was moot based on the Slaughter holding that no cause was necessary for the President to exercise his plenary power. Unless there’s an activist democrat district judge who holds there was no good cause. But what would stop Trump from firing her again for no reason, based on Slaughter? Maybe Trump will test the Slaughter vs Federal Reserve “carve out” by firing Jerome Powell from the Fed Board Powell stayed on just to be a thorn in Trump’s side.

It may be as simple that a smile and hello to someone lifts their day. I often find people, especially seniors out and about alone, desiring a few words to acknowledge their worth and presence.

Stop and say hello to people; greet them in stores or on the street with a few friendly words of conversation. (Hmm … I wonder if that would work in Portland? 😉)

James Goodrich's avatar

Much of this began when the leftist media was allowed to post and or publish conservative justices addresses. The system broke down when a trans activist threatened and then went after SC Justice Kavanaugh at his house, and then Biden and Merrick Garland illegally allowed left wing activist protestors go to Amy Coney Barrett’s home and threaten her and her kids. From that point forward making decisions for Barrett on the basis of the founders intent was over. Well those threats have certainly continued to affect her, she stabbed us in the back again voting to allow election month not Election Day. You know 85% of the people want voter ID and clean elections but yet we have a legislature that won’t act and coerced unelected people in black robes making these critical decisions!

Even during the Civil War only ballets that made it on the day of election were counted. And how is ballot harvesting ok or people allowed to write on the envelope the day they mailed it looked at as acceptable? Like in California, they just extend the counting until it produces the desired left wing outcome.

This is completely delegitimizing elections to the point where conservatives need not vote in leftist blue states.

Coerced Barrett never fails to disappoint. Not looking forward to her going along with the commies on birth right citizenship. The knife marks in my back are adding up. I wish she’d resign now!

LMWC's avatar

It seems to me, the problem lies with the Senate. The House has passed at least 3 versions of the SAVE Act that the Senate Majority leader refuses to bring to a floor vote. Numerous remedies have been suggested, but Thune refuses them all, and when things get to the boiling point, he issues a recess and sends everyone home. Never has the Uniparty and the Good Old Boys Club been more apparent than in the month’s long stall of the SAVE Act. One giant finger held up to the American public, saying we care not at all what Americans want. We are the visible prongs of The Deep State.

LMWC's avatar

I highly doubt the Senate will come through. They were waiting to see which way the SCOTUS wind blew. I doubt this will prod Thune to do anything. Let’s see, Thune is not up for re-election. McConnell and Tillis are done after the Midterms. Collins is the only hope for a Republican coming out blue Maine. Someone supports her with big money. Murkowski has Alaska oil money behind her. As long as Thune keeps stalling and McConnell and Tillis can project as much hurt on the present administration for the next 5 months, they will do so.

Add that to today’s ruling on the Birthright question and we seem to be screwed, effectively, by our own SCOTUS.

James Goodrich's avatar

I did and I listened to it

Beckadee's avatar

Did you write this before reading Jeff's take? Sounds like it.

James Goodrich's avatar

I did and then I listened to it. I agree the senate needs to act. It seems to come down to an issue of mail in ballots and the term Election Day. The court has allowed states to accept what left wing state legislatures decide. So you get California type elections. California decided to let people write on their envelope what day they sent it. Post marks are changed simply. Remember the videos of election officials pulling out suitcases of ballets at 2 in the morning. Or how about a semi truckload of ballets being transferred from New York to Pennsylvania and the whole truckload of votes disappeared probably counted in Pennsylvania. There were more votes than voters. Well the Supreme Court wouldn’t take those cases, so why did they take this case? Why didn’t they just say it’s a legislative issue? Their ruling is again kicking the can down the road and Novembers coming. Were the 4 dissenting judges Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh misinformed? Mail in ballots are a recipe for stolen elections. This has been tried in many countries and eliminated quickly because it welcomes fraud. For me it’s a huge question of custody of the ballots. Are postal workers considered certified election officials. I remember a story of a postal worker throwing hundreds of ballots out in the woods. It’s a disgrace the Supreme Court threw this chance to fix some of these corruptions back to Thune and the senate.

Sauce for the goose, sauce for the gander. The next Democrat president can be expected to use the new power to fire these people to the full -- firing everyone even suspected of once having harbored a non-Far Left thought.

The real message here from the Supreme Court is the 800-pound gorilla in the corner of the room that no-one wants to talk about -- the absolute institutional worthlessness of Congress, which for decades has consistently failed to represent the American People while filling their own pockets. Until We the People completely reform that damaging body we will be condemned to endure rule by unrepresentative minority views. Sadly, it is hard to see how Congress can be reformed before those foolish people drive the country off the cliff. Congress has failed!

Juju's avatar

Thankfully I can’t see democrats getting back power in 2028 with their running straight into communist arms. I wonder if the deep state saw that coming or not? We very well may have four more years of gutting the deep state out of our Congress even if we lose the midterms.

Matt L.'s avatar

Yes, defanging the agencies will force Congress to legislate as the Constitution enabled. They can no longer pass the buck and hide. If Congress doesn’t want to legislate they can either shut up, or people can elect new Reps who will.
