I realized Sunday as I reflected on the shooting and read the manifesto that I was grateful for: first, the shooter exposed major security vulnerabilities in the postscript of his manifesto and in his actions which Kash and Susie Wiles are now addressing FINALLY. Second: all those complicit media folks were held hostage to TDS they helped foster and some of them may actually now choose to be less biased in the future.
You would think. But most of them already live in an alternative fantasy reality in their heads. It was like watching a movie to them, and not hitting home like it should.
One difference this time is that a lot of TDS journalists were potentially in the line of fire this time. Just maybe that will penetrate a few formerly closed minds.

I have been thinking the same, JenniferS! Many from the legacy media were there and experienced firsthand an assassination attempt. I’m hoping that the danger and magnitude of being present at such an event will be a pattern interrupt that they desperately need. This guy is a change agent, he's also erratic and unpredictable. The sorts of traits that make an adversary difficult to counter. If you're the establishment, this has to frustrate you to no end. So, what are you left with? Getting rid of the threat by any means necessary.
1. Trump 1.0. We saw the Democrats use the impeachment process, weaponized and distorted beyond anything we have seen before. The truth is now coming out. More to the point, the Democrats never should have been able to take over the House back in 2018. They had help though.
2. During the Russia collusion brouhaha, there were three House committees digging into what had happened. There was the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and the Judiciary and Oversight Committees, who were holding joint sessions. All three committees brought in witnesses for interviews. I wound up getting my hands on the transcripts of the vast bulk of those interviews (i.e, the receipts). What I found, shouldn't surprise anyone here. To the person, the witnesses threw cold water on the whole narrative, but this never made it into the public sphere.
3. Now, why would you not publicly release this information? This was TNT quality stuff. It had the potential to blow up the midterms and would make for a nasty October surprise against the Democrats. Alas, Speaker Ryan and Leader McCarthy sat on it, thereby allowing the Democrats to take over the House. One would believe that they would want to keep their party in power and that this would provide the means of doing so. But, not so fast....
4. In the final days leading up to the 2016 election, Speaker Ryan urged any Republican who had been holding onto Trump's coattails to let go. That way they wouldn't go down with a sinking ship. It didn’t sink, surprise! The result was so much of a surprise that the campaign hadn't thought of the kind of administration that it needed to form (think cabinet secretaries, agency heads, etc.). And so, it took recommendations from the worst possible sources, including the very establishment Trump had railed against. They were in a perfect position to stymy his agenda, which they did in no time flat. Which is why 2.0 surrounded itself with loyalists (some with their own self interests disguised as America First) and very few policy experts. Fortunately there is a shift taking place to remedy this.
5. Shortly after his departure from government (2019, what a coincidence), former Speaker Ryan was able to start up a SPAC (special purpose acquisition company) during the 2020 pandemic. Not being one to judge, but I wonder where the capital raised for the IPO came from in order to get this thing off the ground. Inquiring minds want to know.
6. Fast forward to the previous election cycle and the lawfare being used to keep Trump from returning to the White House. We had the classified documents case in Florida. The election interference cases at state (think Georgia) and federal levels. We had at least two states try and keep him off of the ballot with a distorted reading of the 14th Amendment. We had three cases against him in New York. Two at the state level and one at the federal, level. And, of course, the two assassination attempts.
Yeah. This guy is radioactive for the powers that be. Kinda like Kryptonite is to Superman, or the color yellow for Green Lantern's power ring. He is not someone that they want left standing, which is why they relish the thought of at least taking back the House in November, and not only impeaching Trump for a historic third time, but also dragging anyone within his orbit before the various committees they would control, just for the express purpose of revenge and making their lives miserable. The worst part is that they have publicly stated as much. Make no mistake, the establishment is giddy with the prospects of a change in control of the House.

When I first registered to vote back in the 80s, it was as a democrat. When Dukakis ran for president, the attorney I worked for then asked me who I was voting for. When I told him, he told me all the reasons I shouldn't. I was just an ignorant young girl. He changed my mind. Gradually, the Lord worked on me and completely changed my heart. I am so grateful that because of Christ's fathomless mercy, I am not who I used to be and still becoming who I should be.
When I was young and naive I really believed the government wanted to protect Americans and our elected officials. I thought there was a common selflessness putting country, our constitution and our way of life above personal wealth and success. I always maintained that there were large groups of people that would rise up and crush any type of tyranny that threatened America. That was a time when I blindly trusted life here would simply work out for the good. I don’t feel that way anymore. The decades of lies from the left changed me. Normal Americans know when they’re being lied to. A lifetime of living free is a daily battle. I’ve come to realize it’s not others I need to rely on.
Exactly. I attend a large church here in Oregon and we now have armed guards We’ve changed our volunteer policy to having our name badges on prior to entering the building. We use to keep them at our station and put them on once settled in. It’s a sad world when you can’t feel safe at church.
Our parish is building a wall (a little ironic) at the police department's suggestion to protect our school's children and other parish members from being vulnerable to an attack from a main thoroughfare next to us. We've had armed parishioners providing security for a few years now. It makes you quite aware that the world does not like faithful Christians.
The ‘world’ (lefty-leftists?) does not like any group seen as a threat to their power. Iron bars and armed guards surrounding the synagogue where my grandchildren attend Hebrew school is similar to your parish. I am not Jewish, but the grandchildren are being raised in the Jewish faith of their mother. I fully support that, but definitely fear the fact that they cannot be safe in a place of worship.
Our church started one more than 15 years ago as we started growing. We had 3-4 armed men in different areas at times before and during the service. And at one time due to threats of a divorced ex-parent threatening to come and grab the children from my area, we locked down the gym/classroom area immediately and no one came in or went out until the police had the parent and it was confirmed to us.
A formal, trained, armed, and communication connected team was then established and has continued since. The team was not the only ones who carried, either. ALL staff were instructed in Safe Team procedures. And all staff are fingerprinted and have background checks! Plus many other safety measures put in place in the Children’s Ministry area and new ones added when needed.
Our parking ministry is also part of the Safe Team and rotate through the church parking lot and checking outside doors.

I remember going to high school and kids had gun racks with shotguns hanging in the window of their trucks. No school shootings, no trucks broken into.

Someone in the group quoted a news organization, and the woman said, “I need a verifiable source.” So, they sent her links to multiple articles. Then she denied that she called others liars.

Well stated James. I also grew up young and naive just as you described. I would only add I have changed after recognizing the decades of lie fed to me by the establishment, both Left and Right. It was a shock during covid to see how easily and completely we could become a national government state. That churches and schools could be shut down and people panicked into hysteria by a lying government, echo chambered by a mockingbird media. There were times when I did not think I wanted to stay in a world turned upside down. It was an even bigger shock to learn I had been lied to my whole life of 70+ years, by the government I always thought would never betray the people they served.

I grew up in an anti-government family. I was taught that “Once you accept that all politicians are liars and crooks, you will never be disappointed.” But, I believe in my fellow citizens and my country’s flag with all of my heart. And, that God has blessed America. Therefore, I participate in our political system because a study of history shows that every other system is worse.
I don’t know how old you are, but when I was ‘young an naive’, I lived through the assassination of a president as well as quite a number of political figures. That was the reality, even though now, at this point in my life, I look back at my youth and assume it was a different, safer country . Was it really? Or was it because, without the internet, we perhaps had less of an idea of what was really going on.
We had more personal freedom, as citizens. We could come and go without hassle, we could take public transportation, we could walk into buildings. As children, we could ride our bikes to the park, and no one called the police claiming child neglect.
There wasn't all the fear of other people that has been inculated into the population since the 80s.
I think much depends on where you live, actually. There are still neighborhoods where much of what you say still exists. When I was 12, I was molested in a New York City bus station. I suspect that may not have been the reality everywhere.

That has been my puzzle. The amount of Christians I know who steadfastly are on the left. Who have bumper stickers glorifying abortion. Who wanted the likes of me punished for not jabbing. Faithful Catholics, the remnant, desperately seeking out alternative sources for worship, are not okay with abortion. They work the pro-life Women’s Help centers, supporting women through pregnancies and providing materials for care of little ones.
The Catholic Church as a whole gives at least token support to the Pro-life movement. They have a Pro-life Sunday observance, fill the baby bottles with cash, buy diapers and such for the Women’s Help Centers. I don’t imagine them coming out with teaching that accepts abortion. Even the far left Pope Francis is quoted as saying that abortion is like ‘hiring a hit man.’
And it is still a written teaching that contraception is a sin. But the tiny sized Catholic family of today shows that it’s being ignored. There’s a label for modern Catholics, ‘Cafeteria Catholics’. They pick from the faith what they like and leave the rest. I can certainly believe liberal Catholics would get abortions and support legalization.
The priest’s homilies (sermons) are very ‘be nice’ generic for most churches and will not offend any sinners. This is first hand observation from a Catholic Convert. Maybe the real work of conviction and repentance happens in Confession. For the faithful, I’m sure it does.
Fetterman is a fascinating and tragic case. He was elected as a progressive democrat with policies like Bernie and AOC. Then he suffered a debilitating stroke. A stroke kills neurons and results in brain damage. This caused him to become a MAGA republican.

I was raised in southern Oregon (north of Medford, south of grants pass ) and it has been horrifying to see the transformation of my beautiful home state to what we behold today. Just terrible. When my family moved there in the 70s (from California but I promise it was not like that), no one would have believed how corrupted the state could become. I realized Sunday as I reflected on the shooting and read the manifesto that I was grateful for: first, the shooter exposed major security vulnerabilities in the postscript of his manifesto and in his actions which Kash and Susie Wiles are now addressing FINALLY. Second: all those complicit media folks were held hostage to TDS they helped foster and some of them may actually now choose to be less biased in the future.
You would think it would be a sobering moment for everyone there, even those with the worst cases of TDS.

This guy is a change agent, he's also erratic and unpredictable. The sorts of traits that make an adversary difficult to counter. If you're the establishment, this has to frustrate you to no end. So, what are you left with? Getting rid of the threat by any means necessary.
1. Trump 1.0. We saw the Democrats use the impeachment process, weaponized and distorted beyond anything we have seen before. The truth is now coming out. More to the point, the Democrats never should have been able to take over the House back in 2018. They had help though.
2. During the Russia collusion brouhaha, there were three House committees digging into what had happened. There was the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and the Judiciary and Oversight Committees, who were holding joint sessions. All three committees brought in witnesses for interviews. I wound up getting my hands on the transcripts of the vast bulk of those interviews (i.e, the receipts). What I found, shouldn't surprise anyone here. To the person, the witnesses threw cold water on the whole narrative, but this never made it into the public sphere.
3. Now, why would you not publicly release this information? This was TNT quality stuff. It had the potential to blow up the midterms and would make for a nasty October surprise against the Democrats. Alas, Speaker Ryan and Leader McCarthy sat on it, thereby allowing the Democrats to take over the House. One would believe that they would want to keep their party in power and that this would provide the means of doing so. But, not so fast....
4. In the final days leading up to the 2016 election, Speaker Ryan urged any Republican who had been holding onto Trump's coattails to let go. That way they wouldn't go down with a sinking ship. It didn’t sink, surprise! The result was so much of a surprise that the campaign hadn't thought of the kind of administration that it needed to form (think cabinet secretaries, agency heads, etc.). And so, it took recommendations from the worst possible sources, including the very establishment Trump had railed against. They were in a perfect position to stymy his agenda, which they did in no time flat. Which is why 2.0 surrounded itself with loyalists (some with their own self interests disguised as America First) and very few policy experts. Fortunately there is a shift taking place to remedy this.
5. Shortly after his departure from government (2019, what a coincidence), former Speaker Ryan was able to start up a SPAC (special purpose acquisition company) during the 2020 pandemic. Not being one to judge, but I wonder where the capital raised for the IPO came from in order to get this thing off the ground. Inquiring minds want to know.
6. Fast forward to the previous election cycle and the lawfare being used to keep Trump from returning to the White House. We had the classified documents case in Florida. The election interference cases at state (think Georgia) and federal levels. We had at least two states try and keep him off of the ballot with a distorted reading of the 14th Amendment. We had three cases against him in New York. Two at the state level and one at the federal, level. And, of course, the two assassination attempts.
Yeah. This guy is radioactive for the powers that be. Kinda like Kryptonite is to Superman, or the color yellow for Green Lantern's power ring. He is not someone that they want left standing, which is why they relish the thought of at least taking back the House in November, and not only impeaching Trump for a historic third time, but also dragging anyone within his orbit before the various committees they would control, just for the express purpose of revenge and making their lives miserable. The worst part is that they have publicly stated as much. Make no mistake, the establishment is giddy with the prospects of a change in control of the House.

I thought there was a common selflessness putting country, our constitution and our way of life above personal wealth and success. I always maintained that there were large groups of people that would rise up and crush any type of tyranny that threatened America. Exactly. I attend a large church here in Oregon and we now have armed guards We’ve changed our volunteer policy to having our name badges on prior to entering the building. We use to keep them at our station and put them on once settled in. It’s a sad world when you can’t feel safe at church.
Our parish is building a wall (a little ironic) at the police department's suggestion to protect our school's children and other parish members from being vulnerable to an attack from a main thoroughfare next to us. We've had armed parishioners providing security for a few years now. It makes you quite aware that the world does not like faithful Christians.
The ‘world’ (lefty-leftists?) does not like any group seen as a threat to their power. Iron bars and armed guards surrounding the synagogue where my grandchildren attend Hebrew school is similar to your parish. I am not Jewish, but the grandchildren are being raised in the Jewish faith of their mother. I fully support that, but definitely fear the fact that they cannot be safe in a place of worship.

Our church started one more than 15 years ago as we started growing. We had 3-4 armed men in different areas at times before and during the service. And at one time due to threats of a divorced ex-parent threatening to come and grab the children from my area, we locked down the gym/classroom area immediately and no one came in or went out until the police had the parent and it was confirmed to us.
A formal, trained, armed, and communication connected team was then established and has continued since. The team was not the only ones who carried, either. ALL staff were instructed in Safe Team procedures. And all staff are fingerprinted and have background checks! Plus many other safety measures put in place in the Children’s Ministry area and new ones added when needed.
Our parking ministry is also part of the Safe Team and rotate through the church parking lot and checking outside doors.

Well stated James. I also grew up young and naive just as you described. I would only add I have changed after recognizing the decades of lie fed to me by the establishment, both Left and Right. Now I continually question my assumptions and refuse to blindly trust anyone. The Uniparty establishment has lied to America for over a century and I've been here for three quarters of a century.
It was a shock during covid to see how easily and completely we could become a national government state. That churches and schools could be shut down and people panicked into hysteria by a lying government, echo chambered by a mockingbird media. There were times when I did not think I wanted to stay in a world turned upside down. It was an even bigger shock to learn I had been lied to my whole life of 70+ years, by the government I always thought would never betray the people they served.
It took some serious, “Come to Jesus” moments to realize, the U.S. does not solely own the rights of Christianity, but we were to be a beacon. Evil, as it always does, seeks out strongholds and will destroy one way or the other what Freedom had erected in the name of liberty and justice for all.
We are told over and over to vote Red, but we can’t get a simple SAVE act, 83% approval, through a Republican led Senate. They don’t even make excuses as to why. They simply ignore us, let the voices of the hysterical drown everything else out and go about business. What decent person wants to run for national or even state office any longer?

This. I feel the same way. I felt safe until 9/11/2001. I remember saying many times that it was that date and those horrific events that forever changed how I felt regarding safety here. We all came together for such a time as that, and then the true change came with one Barack Hussein Obama. Trump rose up BECAUSE of that traitor. I am thankful that I believe God is on His throne because that is what gets me through these times. It is heartbreaking to go through, and I miss my parents, the greatest generation but am thankful they aren't here now. My dad, a RADM in the US Navy (served 33 years) would be devastated. During Desert Storm he wanted to put on his uniform again and fight. He was 58 at the time. And still fit in his uniform. God is in control even when it doesn't feel like it.

And, that God has blessed America. Therefore, I participate in our political system because a study of history shows that every other system is worse.

I don’t know how old you are, but when I was ‘young an naive’, I lived through the assassination of a president as well as quite a number of political figures. That was the reality, even though now, at this point in my life, I look back at my youth and assume it was a different, safer country . Was it really? Or was it because, without the internet, we perhaps had less of an idea of what was really going on.
We had more personal freedom, as citizens. We could come and go without hassle, we could take public transportation, we could walk into buildings. As children, we could ride our bikes to the park, and no one called the police claiming child neglect.
There wasn't all the fear of other people that has been inculated into the population since the 80s.

I think much depends on where you live, actually. There are still neighborhoods where much of what you say still exists. When I was 12, I was molested in a New York City bus station. I suspect that may not have been the reality everywhere.
Maybe there are neighborhoods like that, but I recall a story about a boy coming home from school and he went into his garage because his mother wasn't home, and the neighbor called the police.

Are Catholics ok with abortion now? Seems to me, they might be.
Faithful Catholics, the remnant, desperately seeking out alternative sources for worship, are not okay with abortion. They work the pro-life Women’s Help centers, supporting women through pregnancies and providing materials for care of little ones.
The Catholic Church as a whole gives at least token support to the Pro-life movement. They have a Pro-life Sunday observance, fill the baby bottles with cash, buy diapers and such for the Women’s Help Centers. I don’t imagine them coming out with teaching that accepts abortion. Even the far left Pope Francis is quoted as saying that abortion is like ‘hiring a hit man.’
And it is still a written teaching that contraception is a sin. But the tiny sized Catholic family of today shows that it’s being ignored. There’s a label for modern Catholics, ‘Cafeteria Catholics’. They pick from the faith what they like and leave the rest. I can certainly believe liberal Catholics would get abortions and support legalization.
The priest’s homilies (sermons) are very ‘be nice’ generic for most churches and will not offend any sinners. This is first hand observation from a Catholic Convert. Maybe the real work of conviction and repentance happens in Confession. For the faithful, I’m sure it does.

I am not even slightly shocked. I have sat with two groups of educated left wing people at dinner parties. They worry about climate change. Both times these people ended at ‘well we know what we have to do, don’t we? People must be culled.’ Lefties all look down solemnly and ‘reluctantly’ agree. That thinking is out there. This was 8 or 9 years ago. I stopped attending neighbourhood soirees as I don’t attend psychopath parties.
Also once COVID hit and I voiced my concerns I have never been invited to even speak with them and have tea. I know they wanted to kill anti vaxers.

100%. So much early dementia in the 70 year old cohort. Parkinson’s, Lewy Body, lots of undiagnosed. Not just memory issues, but confusion. Asking questions that they should know the answers to. I had a friend say ‘do you have children William?’ He has known my children for 45 years. Then he cleared up. Then back confused again.
He was cycling between confusion and clarity. Five minutes weirdly confused. 15 minutes normal. Then blank looking and confused for 5 minutes. Over and over for 2-3 hours.

The civil war is nowhere close to being over on the Left Coast. I left Portland to be left alone, but the other side refuses to do that.
John, I am currently living in CT which is just as awful but in a historical kind of way. I was raised in southern Oregon (north of Medford, south of grants pass ) and it has been horrifying to see the transformation of my beautiful home state to what we behold today. Just terrible. When my family moved there in the 70s (from California but I promise it was not like that), no one would have believed how corrupted the state could become. But in only a few decades the die was cast and Oregon was on the trail (sorry) to obscene levels of crazy. My poor parents saw it starting to slide and did what they could to affect it but they were only a working class couple with mouths to feed. But they raised up sensible children who are now sprinkled across the country raising their own sensible children (I have five!). God will see us out somehow. I pray for our nation every evening at 9pm (the “Big Ben minute”) and these words come to mind every night …

I came here to say almost the same thing. He, and many if not most liberals, think they’re the smartest people in the room. If you give them enough time, they’ll tell you this to be a fact. I may not be the smartest, but I’ve hung out with some fantastically intelligent people. I was once accepted to MIT, but didn’t go. I chose the Army and Police Department instead. I’ve not looked back.
Re: the shooter’s education and work experience. I saw a video today (wish I could find it again) in which the speaker noted the shooter’s connection to the JPL and the many recent mysteriously missing and dead scientists, quite a few of them who were associated with the JPL.
The left never sees the end results of their policies. There are always the unintended consequences of their actions because they act on emotion. This will backfire on them. God’s will be done. Evil knows its end is near and is doing all it can to blow things up.
