I realized Sunday as I reflected on the shooting and read the manifesto that I was grateful for: first, the shooter exposed major security vulnerabilities in the postscript of his manifesto and in his actions which Kash and Susie Wiles are now addressing FINALLY. Second: all those complicit media folks were held hostage to TDS they helped foster and some of them may actually now choose to be less biased in the future.
You would think. But most of them already live in an alternative fantasy reality in their heads. It was like watching a movie to them, and not hitting home like it should.
One difference this time is that a lot of TDS journalists were potentially in the line of fire this time. Just maybe that will penetrate a few formerly closed minds.

When I first registered to vote back in the 80s, it was as a democrat. When Dukakis ran for president, the attorney I worked for then asked me who I was voting for. When I told him, he told me all the reasons I shouldn't. I was just an ignorant young girl. He changed my mind. Gradually, the Lord worked on me and completely changed my heart. I am so grateful that because of Christ's fathomless mercy, I am not who I used to be and still becoming who I should be.
When I was young and naive I really believed the government wanted to protect Americans and our elected officials. I thought there was a common selflessness putting country, our constitution and our way of life above personal wealth and success. I always maintained that there were large groups of people that would rise up and crush any type of tyranny that threatened America. That was a time when I blindly trusted life here would simply work out for the good. I don’t feel that way anymore. The decades of lies from the left changed me. Exactly. I attend a large church here in Oregon and we now have armed guards We’ve changed our volunteer policy to having our name badges on prior to entering the building. We use to keep them at our station and put them on once settled in. It’s a sad world when you can’t feel safe at church.
Our parish is building a wall (a little ironic) at the police department's suggestion to protect our school's children and other parish members from being vulnerable to an attack from a main thoroughfare next to us. We've had armed parishioners providing security for a few years now. It makes you quite aware that the world does not like faithful Christians.

Iron bars and armed guards surrounding the synagogue where my grandchildren attend Hebrew school is similar to your parish. I am not Jewish, but the grandchildren are being raised in the Jewish faith of their mother. I fully support that, but definitely fear the fact that they cannot be safe in a place of worship.
Our church started one more than 15 years ago as we started growing. We had 3-4 armed men in different areas at times before and during the service. And at one time due to threats of a divorced ex-parent threatening to come and grab the children from my area, we locked down the gym/classroom area immediately and no one came in or went out until the police had the parent and it was confirmed to us.
A formal, trained, armed, and communication connected team was then established and has continued since. The team was not the only ones who carried, either. ALL staff were instructed in Safe Team procedures. And all staff are fingerprinted and have background checks! Plus many other safety measures put in place in the Children’s Ministry area and new ones added when needed.
Our parking ministry is also part of the Safe Team and rotate through the church parking lot and checking outside doors.

Well stated James. I also grew up young and naive just as you described. I would only add I have changed after recognizing the decades of lie fed to me by the establishment, both Left and Right. Now I continually question my assumptions and refuse to blindly trust anyone. The Uniparty establishment has lied to America for over a century and I've been here for three quarters of a century.
It was a shock during covid to see how easily and completely we could become a national government state. That churches and schools could be shut down and people panicked into hysteria by a lying government, echo chambered by a mockingbird media. There were times when I did not think I wanted to stay in a world turned upside down. It was an even bigger shock to learn I had been lied to my whole life of 70+ years, by the government I always thought would never betray the people they served.
It took some serious, “Come to Jesus” moments to realize, the U.S. does not solely own the rights of Christianity, but we were to be a beacon. Evil, as it always does, seeks out strongholds and will destroy one way or the other what Freedom had erected in the name of liberty and justice for all.

This. I feel the same way. I felt safe until 9/11/2001. I remember saying many times that it was that date and those horrific events that forever changed how I felt regarding safety here. We all came together for such a time as that, and then the true change came with one Barack Hussein Obama. Trump rose up BECAUSE of that traitor. I am thankful that I believe God is on His throne because that is what gets me through these times. It is heartbreaking to go through, and I miss my parents, the greatest generation but am thankful they aren't here now. My dad, a RADM in the US Navy (served 33 years) would be devastated. During Desert Storm he wanted to put on his uniform again and fight. He was 58 at the time. And still fit in his uniform. God is in control even when it doesn't feel like it.
I don’t know how old you are, but when I was ‘young an naive’, I lived through the assassination of a president as well as quite a number of political figures. That was the reality, even though now, at this point in my life, I look back at my youth and assume it was a different, safer country . Was it really? Or was it because, without the internet, we perhaps had less of an idea of what was really going on.
We had more personal freedom, as citizens. We could come and go without hassle, we could take public transportation, we could walk into buildings. As children, we could ride our bikes to the park, and no one called the police claiming child neglect.
There wasn't all the fear of other people that has been inculated into the population since the 80s.
I think much depends on where you live, actually. There are still neighborhoods where much of what you say still exists. When I was 12, I was molested in a New York City bus station. I suspect that may not have been the reality everywhere.
Maybe there are neighborhoods like that, but I recall a story about a boy coming home from school and he went into his garage because his mother wasn't home, and the neighbor called the police.

And, that God has blessed America. Therefore, I participate in our political system because a study of history shows that every other system is worse.

None of the evil that has occurred or will yet arise in the world has ever taken God by surprise. The Bible makes it clear that He took all of that into account before creating the first human being, including the fact that He would have to enter into our world as one of us, to be tempted as we are, but live in perfect righteousness, suffer, die an excruciating death on a Roman Cross, after being rejected, reviled, and mocked by the very people He came to save (as prophesied) - to take on the entire weight of sin for the whole world, for all time - and then suffer the righteous Divine penalty for that dark evil. And His estimation of the entire story was such that, “…for the joy that was set before Him (He) endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2b)
These things, and so much more that is to come, are heartbreaking. But they are unavoidable aspects of God’s Redemptive Plan of the Ages, and we need to anchor our hearts in that strong ground of reality, trusting “…that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

In answer to your question, is there anyone on the Left who can stop this stuff, I don't think so. It's the answer I keep giving to a couple of my well-meaning friends who still think there is such a thing as a "conservative Democrat." Yeah, there is one, named John Fetterman, and they are trying to get him out. "Liberal Patriot" closed up shop last week. That says a lot. Today, Ryan Burge's "Graphs About Religion" shows that white Christians are absolutely stampeding away from the Democrats. So who will "moderate" them? No one. Only active resistance. Think U.S. Grant.
That has been my puzzle. The amount of Christians I know who steadfastly are on the left. Who have bumper stickers glorifying abortion. Who wanted the likes of me punished for not jabbing. The true mission to bring Christ into every space has just led to their total capitulation to the left. Kicked Christ out. Faithful Catholics, the remnant, desperately seeking out alternative sources for worship, are not okay with abortion. They work the pro-life Women’s Help centers, supporting women through pregnancies and providing materials for care of little ones.
The Catholic Church as a whole gives at least token support to the Pro-life movement. They have a Pro-life Sunday observance, fill the baby bottles with cash, buy diapers and such for the Women’s Help Centers. I don’t imagine them coming out with teaching that accepts abortion. Even the far left Pope Francis is quoted as saying that abortion is like ‘hiring a hit man.’
And it is still a written teaching that contraception is a sin. But the tiny sized Catholic family of today shows that it’s being ignored. There’s a label for modern Catholics, ‘Cafeteria Catholics’. They pick from the faith what they like and leave the rest. I can certainly believe liberal Catholics would get abortions and support legalization.
The priest’s homilies (sermons) are very ‘be nice’ generic for most churches and will not offend any sinners. This is first hand observation from a Catholic Convert. Maybe the real work of conviction and repentance happens in Confession. For the faithful, I’m sure it does.
I think it points to a bigger problem. The problem is that the left is willing to abandon any sense of basic human rights and morality to achieve their end goal. It’s not just violence. They are willing to violate anyone’s rights, every right, who is not for their ideological beliefs. They are working on creating the very thing they claim they are against. An authoritarian government that removes all opposition by any means possible.

Exactly. I attend a large church here in Oregon and we now have armed guards We’ve changed our volunteer policy to having our name badges on prior to entering the building. We use to keep them at our station and put them on once settled in. It’s a sad world when you can’t feel safe at church.
Our parish is building a wall (a little ironic) at the police department's suggestion to protect our school's children and other parish members from being vulnerable to an attack from a main thoroughfare next to us. We've had armed parishioners providing security for a few years now. It makes you quite aware that the world does not like faithful Christians.

Iron bars and armed guards surrounding the synagogue where my grandchildren attend Hebrew school is similar to your parish. Our church started one more than 15 years ago as we started growing. We had 3-4 armed men in different areas at times before and during the service. And at one time due to threats of a divorced ex-parent threatening to come and grab the children from my area, we locked down the gym/classroom area immediately and no one came in or went out until the police had the parent and it was confirmed to us.
A formal, trained, armed, and communication connected team was then established and has continued since. The team was not the only ones who carried, either. ALL staff were instructed in Safe Team procedures. And all staff are fingerprinted and have background checks! Plus many other safety measures put in place in the Children’s Ministry area and new ones added when needed.
Our parking ministry is also part of the Safe Team and rotate through the church parking lot and checking outside doors.

Well stated James. I also grew up young and naive just as you described. I would only add I have changed after recognizing the decades of lie fed to me by the establishment, both Left and Right. Now I continually question my assumptions and refuse to blindly trust anyone. The Uniparty establishment has lied to America for over a century and I've been here for three quarters of a century.
It was a shock during covid to see how easily and completely we could become a national government state. That churches and schools could be shut down and people panicked into hysteria by a lying government, echo chambered by a mockingbird media. There were times when I did not think I wanted to stay in a world turned upside down. It was an even bigger shock to learn I had been lied to my whole life of 70+ years, by the government I always thought would never betray the people they served.
It took some serious, “Come to Jesus” moments to realize, the U.S. does not solely own the rights of Christianity, but we were to be a beacon. Evil, as it always does, seeks out strongholds and will destroy one way or the other what Freedom had erected in the name of liberty and justice for all.
We are told over and over to vote Red, but we can’t get a simple SAVE act, 83% approval, through a Republican led Senate. They don’t even make excuses as to why. They simply ignore us, let the voices of the hysterical drown everything else out and go about business. What decent person wants to run for national or even state office any longer?

This. I feel the same way. I felt safe until 9/11/2001. I remember saying many times that it was that date and those horrific events that forever changed how I felt regarding safety here. We all came together for such a time as that, and then the true change came with one Barack Hussein Obama. Trump rose up BECAUSE of that traitor. I am thankful that I believe God is on His throne because that is what gets me through these times. It is heartbreaking to go through, and I miss my parents, the greatest generation but am thankful they aren't here now. My dad, a RADM in the US Navy (served 33 years) would be devastated. During Desert Storm he wanted to put on his uniform again and fight. He was 58 at the time. And still fit in his uniform. God is in control even when it doesn't feel like it.

I don’t know how old you are, but when I was ‘young an naive’, I lived through the assassination of a president as well as quite a number of political figures. That was the reality, even though now, at this point in my life, I look back at my youth and assume it was a different, safer country . Was it really? Or was it because, without the internet, we perhaps had less of an idea of what was really going on.
We had more personal freedom, as citizens. We could come and go without hassle, we could take public transportation, we could walk into buildings. As children, we could ride our bikes to the park, and no one called the police claiming child neglect.
There wasn't all the fear of other people that has been inculated into the population since the 80s.
That is the difference.

I think much depends on where you live, actually. There are still neighborhoods where much of what you say still exists. When I was 12, I was molested in a New York City bus station. I suspect that may not have been the reality everywhere.
Maybe there are neighborhoods like that, but I recall a story about a boy coming home from school and he went into his garage because his mother wasn't home, and the neighbor called the police.

These things, and so much more that is to come, are heartbreaking. But they are unavoidable aspects of God’s Redemptive Plan of the Ages, and we need to anchor our hearts in that strong ground of reality, trusting “…that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. In answer to your question, is there anyone on the Left who can stop this stuff, I don't think so. It's the answer I keep giving to a couple of my well-meaning friends who still think there is such a thing as a "conservative Democrat." Yeah, there is one, named John Fetterman, and they are trying to get him out. "Liberal Patriot" closed up shop last week. That says a lot. Today, Ryan Burge's "Graphs About Religion" shows that white Christians are absolutely stampeding away from the Democrats. So who will "moderate" them? No one. Only active resistance. Think U.S. Grant.
That has been my puzzle. The amount of Christians I know who steadfastly are on the left. Who have bumper stickers glorifying abortion. Who wanted the likes of me punished for not jabbing. The true mission to bring Christ into every space has just led to their total capitulation to the left. Kicked Christ out. I pray that they are stampeding away from the evil they have tangled themselves in.

Faithful Catholics, the remnant, desperately seeking out alternative sources for worship, are not okay with abortion. They work the pro-life Women’s Help centers, supporting women through pregnancies and providing materials for care of little ones.
The Catholic Church as a whole gives at least token support to the Pro-life movement. They have a Pro-life Sunday observance, fill the baby bottles with cash, buy diapers and such for the Women’s Help Centers. I don’t imagine them coming out with teaching that accepts abortion. Even the far left Pope Francis is quoted as saying that abortion is like ‘hiring a hit man.’
And it is still a written teaching that contraception is a sin. But the tiny sized Catholic family of today shows that it’s being ignored. There’s a label for modern Catholics, ‘Cafeteria Catholics’. They pick from the faith what they like and leave the rest. I can certainly believe liberal Catholics would get abortions and support legalization.
The priest’s homilies (sermons) are very ‘be nice’ generic for most churches and will not offend any sinners. This is first hand observation from a Catholic Convert. Maybe the real work of conviction and repentance happens in Confession. For the faithful, I’m sure it does.

John, I am currently living in CT which is just as awful but in a historical kind of way. I was raised in southern Oregon (north of Medford, south of grants pass ) and it has been horrifying to see the transformation of my beautiful home state to what we behold today. Just terrible. When my family moved there in the 70s (from California but I promise it was not like that), no one would have believed how corrupted the state could become. But in only a few decades the die was cast and Oregon was on the trail (sorry) to obscene levels of crazy. My poor parents saw it starting to slide and did what they could to affect it but they were only a working class couple with mouths to feed. But they raised up sensible children who are now sprinkled across the country raising their own sensible children (I have five!). God will see us out somehow. I pray for our nation every evening at 9pm (the “Big Ben minute”) and these words come to mind every night …

After reading the post & several hundred comments, I wondered how many rabble rousers were on Blue Sky & C&C today. I wonder if some of these folks who incite violence can be tried as accessories.
Would it be those who were taking the wine and Champaign from the tables as they left the room?
