Who gives a rats ass what's in that old book, Susie?

The Bible was written from multiple sources. But a political dynasty oversaw the compiling and editing of those sources at the Council of Nicaea. That there was power and wealth to be derived from consolidating the fables into a single book calls it into question. Motivation was huge to mislead. The Bible is at best a compilation of previous Pagan mythology.

Why do a Christians expect a book written by unknown authors in a variety of languages, that was translated, rewritten, edited countless times ~ is evidence for anything? It's just a book. Every statement of "Jesus said" needs to start with "my old book says that Jesus said."

Why is it so hard for people to understand that "My book is true because my book says it is true" is not a valid form of reasoning?

God wrote a number of books. That number is zero. - Christopher Hitchens

BTW, speaking of God's provision and helping those in need: If God can 'heal', please tell me why God does not heal all blind people. And if God is all loving and powerful, why are there so many children on this earth that are starving to death? And why has God stood by with folded arms while 1,000's of innocent women and kids are slaughtered in Gaza? Either he does not give a shit, or more likely he does not exist!

Pagan? As compared to what? A religion composed of scientific theories or state approved narratives? Pagan is a meaningless description.

To assume that the Bible came into existence at Nicea ignores the existence of the Tora many centuries before Jesus was even born. To assume that a political council invented the Bible in 325 AD from pagan myths is truly unlikely - and I'm being kind. One may not believe there is a Creator but it is much more likely, by comparison, that the Creator revealed himself to His creation and providentially supervised the compilation of His divine revelation down through the centuries. That is a possibility that probably should not be rejected out of hand.

As for your last question that is ALWAYS the refrain of the unbeliever, as if it proves anything, God cannot be judged because of man's actions. God gave man free will and the responsibility of his actions. God is the Judge of history. He is not the tooth-fairy that grants wishes. And for our brief sojourn in this life, God will judge all things, that men do, in eternity. That is the reality given in His Revelation.

LOL. All just CLAIMS with no evidence. God never uttered a single word. Somebody just made this shit up!

Stop the bullshit, Phil! Just present the evidence for the existence of your “God”. God only exists in the minds of people who need him to give answers to questions they want to hear.

You are really stuck on "evidence", aren't you? Even if I offered evidence, you have made it clear that your only response will be "Somebody just made this shit up!" You don't want any evidence - Not really. You just want an argument and the opportunity to call people Bullshit. Tell me I'm wrong.

But you don't get it and if you did, you would deny it. The evidence is ALL AROUND YOU. The evidence of the Creator is the Creation. You are the living evidence.

Now... Where is your evidence that the Creator does not exist? Hmmmm?

"The evidence is ALL AROUND YOU. The evidence of the Creator is the Creation." LOL Not this sorry old argument! GMAFB.

"Look at the trees" is such a classic Christian response to a request for evidence of God the Creator. The number of people who I've heard unironically saying this is mind-boggling.

“Why do you believe in a Creator?”....“Dude! Look at the trees!”

"Now... Where is your evidence that the Creator does not exist? Hmmmm?"

I don't claim that the Creator does not exist. She could.

But there is not enough evidence to prove she exists.

But the burden of proof is not with me, it's with the person making the claim. And ...'The evidence of the Creator is the Creation' is laughable. I thought that even you were smarter than that!

'Look at the trees' ~ you can clearly see that it was Krishna , or Thor, or Woden , or Yahweh or Jehova, or Mormoni , or Galgesh, or Zeus, or farmer John who created them.

Furthermore, merely attributing wonderful things to your God is not evidence for your God, or her being the Creator. You have no reason to believe that a tree points directly to a Creator. Trees are evidence of a Creator the same way lightning is evidence of Zeus. You don't get to infer that some supreme almighty being creator exists simply because you can't explain trees otherwise. Why do theists always say, “Look at the trees,” instead of, “Look at the eyeball-eating parasites?”

BTW, we're blessed with tape worms, plague, cancer, leprosy, dengue fever, malaria, and mosquitoes that spread diseases. The brain-eating amoeba is a special gift from a Creator if you believe in a Creator.

You need to study the Bible more Dennis.

I'm 77-years-old, Jon. Raised in a Cristian family.

Read the Bible every day and prayed to "God" every morning and night.

With as much humility as I could muster.

Went to Church every Sunday. Taught kids Sunday School.

Attended many adult Bible Classes. Went to Bible camps.

Betcha I know the New Testament better than 90% of Christians.

Looking over my shoulder every day worrying I was pleasing God. Being forced to love someone I feared. The very essence of sadomasochism.

And being aware as I got older that our dioceses were sexually abusing kids. And being forced to keep my mouth shut.

At 56-years-old "God" had never revealed himself to me. Not once.

I finally figured out that I had been brainwashed as a young child. And it was all bovine excrement! Either God did not give a shit, or he did not exist. I threw of my chains and shackles of tyrannical religion and learned to think for myself. And have been a happy secular humanist ever since. The best thing I ever did. I changed my life for the better.

When I realized that Hell wasn’t true it was the biggest relief of my life. Now I don’t worry that my friends and loved ones are in danger of burning in hell because they don’t believe in the Bible. I’ve slept much better since.

My only regrets: wasting so much time of the only life you get here on earth with this debilitating nonsense. The whole story about Jesus coming back to life after crucifixion is a story invented by religious cultists. Myth at best. Lies at worst.

Thank you, that explains a lot. You have thrown off your "chains and shackles of tyrannical religion" but you have not learned to think for 'yourself'. I don't doubt at the improvement but you are now chained to the faith (and I use that word advisedly) of Secular Humanism. You have substituted one spiritual prison for another that only smells better.

My only comment: now learn to really think for yourself.

You are condescending asshole, Phil.

Stating that I have not learned to think for myself is a sure way to fail to convince me of your point of view.

If you learnt to think for yourself, you would know that there is no imaginary guy in the sky who created you and cares about you.

And that there is no "faith" involved with secular humanism.

Condescending and clueless.
