The Church which is "the Body of Christ" and which decided (pre schism) what to include in the Bible suggest prayer ropes (Orthodox) and beads (Catholic). Simply reading the Bible is not sufficient. Recall the story of the Ethiopian eunuch in the Acts who, when asked if he understood what he was reading in the Bible (book of Isaiah), wondered “How can I, unless someone guides me?” That's where the Church comes in and explains thing to us. Sola Scripture is a very protestant way of thinking. Remember, Christianity is not a buffet where we are free to pick and chose what we believe.

Simply reading the Bible is not sufficient as also congregating with other believers who read the Bible. Follow those who actually follow the Bible and not one man. The Pope is a man made power usurped by disgruntled "Christian" Pharisees who got put down when the Apostles confronted their legalism and works based Salvation. Your lady is a figment of their power grab and coffer buffer. Check Catholic history for yourself. They act of their own accord. They sell salvation. Many men do in the name of Christ.

It is a tenet of Protestant Christianity that scripture *IS* sufficient to salvation, though not sufficient to understand every deep facet of theology. (And as a corollary, that scripture is capable of being sufficiently understood by an ordinary person to reach that 'necessary' level to be saved.)

However, thoughtful Protestants would agree that many things outside the Scripture, including the Church both as a whole and as a local congregation, are helpful in understanding the full depth of scripture, and in supporting believers in the practical application of daily faith.

Things like beads / prayer ropes fall more into that latter, practical category, though I'm inclined to think that the idea of making "stronger" prayers is difficult to align with the teachings of scripture. It seems to me that the stronger prayer is the prayer most in line with the will of God, and little to do with the manner in which it is prayed.

If one is not understanding the Bible, they are either unsaved or deceived by the devil's lies which are abundant in the professing churches. There is instruction (doctrine) from the Lord as to how to come unto the knowledge of the truth for a saved member of the body of Christ (1 Tim. 2:4, kjb) but the devil has the truth hidden:

2 Tim. 2:7 Consider what I (Apostle Paul) say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

The Lord tells us who he sent to us in this dispensation of the grace of God with the gospel of our salvation and doctrine for the Church, the body of Christ by which we are to be edified; that is the Apostle Paul.

If a man is not following Paul as he followed Christ, then he is to be rejected as a teacher.

2 Tim. 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
