Ppl certainly have very short and non working memories. Didn't get the wall built? Got a mega amt built before CONGRESS shut the funds down. Locked down the country? How so? Florida wasn't locked down. Neither was Georgia. How'd Trump lock it down? He didn't "bring" us Fauci and Birx. He INHERITED them from Obummer. Doesn't know the Cons…

Have you SEEN the EOs He wrote that are still in effect and in fact, have been extended by the current puppet in office? EOs that go against trafficking, corruption in every legal office, etc. You really should broaden your reading material and go back and refresh your memory.
Florida was locked down. The difference between Trump and DeSantis is that DeSantis recognized his decision was wrong and immediately changed course. Trump was just hoping it would all go away. He took the easy way out.
Hope is simply a substitution for strategy when a biz plan or war plan does not allow for change in tactics when the facts on the ground change.
Trump did not lock Florida down. I live here. That was a STATE decision by DeSantis to close the beaches for a short time (and then deny he'd done it later on). Churches never locked down unless they did so on their own. Again, our church never closed down for one day. If the county you live in is liberal enough to have done that.....that's a local decision. But TRUMP never made the states lock down. If there's a sound byte out there that I missed where he ordered states to shut down, please post it. Thanks!
I hear ya. But I did not say that Trump initiated the c19 response in FL. Indeed it was DeSantis.
And that's my point.
I moved to Sarasota from CA in May of 20 because I have children. Floridians will never understand how bad it was in the Clampdown states....and people in Clampdown states will never understand what it was like to be free at that time.
His mistake was allowing the 15 days to be extended another 30. Game over.
It was his decision and his decision alone. He has some responsibility.
I share that assessment for the most part. Only point of information that I find necessary to add is his recognition that his decision was wrong was largely driven by his political ambition and calculation.
From those with access inside his policy office and then campaign I interacted with in 2020-2021 DeSantis calculated that the crowded primary field he saw 2024 would be was empty in the "freedom" lane. By planting his ambition's flag in that otherwise unoccupied lane the other hopefuls to the throne would divide the the rest of GOP voters.
His calculation was that freedom seekers were a large enough bloc of voters to outnumber the divided rest of the field in the other GOP lanes that supported pandemic restrictions and mandates (DeWine, Hogan-like R's who were indistinguishable from the Newsome's, Pritzker's and Cuomo/Hochul's).
His political calculation was largely correct. Aside from the glaring miscalculation that Trump would be removed from the field. Which he still may be. But in that light, wrong and right is often arrived at for different reasons by politicians and their calculations. Whether or not their personal convictions align with their decisions.

That said, I'll be voting for him a 3rd time.

I agree with this
