The future is ours to seize. So long as our God gifted capacity to dream and to will that dream remains, choice defies fate; and thus does freedom defy slavery.

Tritorch, for some reason I am planting Words. “The power of life and death is in the tongue.” I can, at 72 still see my Mom and Dad on their knees , still hear them praying for us 7 kids. Their prayers are still circling round us as we live our lives, though they are long gone.

The Most High has been stoking my faith through His Word and His righteous deeds. He sets up kings and kingdoms and He takes them down. And I trust Him.

As I prayed last night I reminded the swirling darkness that HELL was created just for them. They lost. And they knew they lost when the stone was rolled away from the tomb for them to examine.

So. I am planting Words .... you know....those

“It. Is.Written.” those kind of words. Those Words have power.

And flowers.

I’m gonna plant some flowers.

Blessings to you, Jeff Childers and Tritorch.

I was out of the country when 9/11 happened--so didn't witness, but later heard that folks were flocking into the churches. I was hopeful that this signalled an Awakening. But it didn't last. Not that time. Last week some clever commenter remarked that God isn't a taxi cab to be called only when needed. Yesterday I finished reading Judges for second time this month, and was much confused by last two chapters. But sure looks as though Israel had sunk to calling on God only in distress--and almost lost a whole tribe as a result (and only managed to avoid that loss through "creative" use of words).

But God is merciful and will always respond when you ask for help even if only when you are in distress.

Jesus told Saint Faustina: My mercy is greater than your sins and those of the entire world. Who can measure the extent of My goodness? For you I descended from heaven to earth; for you I allowed Myself to be nailed to the cross; for you I let My Sacred Heart be pierced with a lance, thus opening wide the source of mercy for you. Come, then, with trust to draw graces from this fountain. I never reject a contrite heart. Your misery has disappeared in the depth of My mercy. Do not argue with Me about your wretchedness. You will give Me pleasure if you hand over to Me all your troubles and griefs. I shall heap upon you the treasures of My grace. America 1775-91 founded upon, in part the Book of Judges; No King but GOD, Morality, decency education and self-rule based on individual responsibility, duty to God and community. Even most slave-owners had to give lip-service to proper treatment, religious instruction and obligation to slaves.

Most today do not know about this or appreciate it if they did. This was the common ethic held in the American culture and was a commonly held attitude with Americans as late as my grandparents and my parents generation. To re-learn this, Americans will have to go through the same hard-times the Israelites did when they strayed from God's law.

Judges 21:25 (ESV)

"In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes."

This He tells us at the very end of Judges.

Then the people wanted Saul. They did not judge rightly, they wanted a king that was like the kings of the gentiles. Those kings were tall and powerful; Rephaim bloodlines. God made it clear that they would regret Saul, and they chose him anyway.

When Saul failed them, God gave them a young humble shepherd, who knew that God is in control and who knew he had to rely on His mercy and grace and steadfast love.

Amen brother. It amazes me how many people that call themselves Christians use the word "terrified" when describing current events. The Bible is crystal clear on this, that word does not belong in any Christian's mouth.

We can be concerned about the way things are heading. We can take prudent actions to protect our loved ones. We can work to try and change things. But one thing we cannot do is to live in fear as it means we don't really believe God is in control

Expand full comment
PamelaZelie's avatar

Yes, it can be difficult.

But for those who suffer with anxiety and depression, don’t castigate yourself.

Sometimes, Bible reading, prayer, church attendance, and prayers with other Christians won’t eradicate anxiety. I’m suffered through many painful episodes in the past. Finally, I learned that while God may not remove those dark periods, He will walk through them with me!

This doesn’t have to be the result of a lack of faith or any failure, it may be a problem of mental health. Talk to a doctor, you can trust, or a Christian counselor, or pastor.

Expand full comment
WindsofChange's avatar

I agree. You can’t will fear or anxiety away, especially when it is deep seated. God can remove it, but often it is for our salvation that He allows it to remain. And like you said will never leave us in it, and will walk through the darkness with us. THAT is the comfort that lessens the fear. To think we can live fully free of fear or else we aren’t “Holy” or trusting enough is not realistic, nor is it kind. Living with PTSD myself, fear and lack of trust is embedded in my brain, I can’t will it away and it gets better with time and wonderful, trusting relationships. But I know God is always with me and walking me through life. Doesn’t mean the fear goes away and that the trust is always solid, but I keep turning back to Him. And that is all He wants, and all he asks of us. He understands how to be human more even than we do.

Everyone experiences fear. It is how you react to it that determines whether or not you are living in faith or living in fear. When we are confronted by fear, we put our faith in the Lord and press forward IN SPITE OF the fear. We are to take courage from what God has done for us and from His Word and face what confronts us trusting in God. This is what the armor of God is for...for battle. Fear is not a sin. It is a fact of life. Whether or not we have courage based on faith, therein is the test.

Expand full comment
Tom's avatar

Fear is like any other temptation. The sin is when we indulge in it. Like any other sin, it's not righteous to "white knuckle" your way through it and then pat yourself on the back in pride. It's by the Spirit that we put to death the deeds of the flesh, fear included.

"Whether or not we have courage based on faith, therein is the test."

Amen!

Many times in Scripture God urges the people have courage and not lose hope but to trust in the Word of God and His faithfulness. I don't see fear as a temptation or a sin or a deed of he flesh. Fear is a circumstance of life that everyone experiences. The unbeliever has no hope beyond himself in those circumstances. The Christian faces fear by "walking in faith", trusting in God's providence regardless of whatever fear he is confronted with. This is courage informed by his faith. With Christ's ascension to the throne at the right hand of God, the Holy Spirit was poured out to indwell the church militant as the body of Christ on earth to carry out Christ's commission to disciple the nations and redeem all of history. For 2,000 years since Christ's Crucifixion, He has progressively discipled the nations of the world through His Body on earth. No evil or power has been able to overcome the power of God through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. By all secular reasoning, the fringe Christian sect should have died in 70 AD. Never let it be said that evil can overcome the power of the Holy Spirit. The expectation that hell will reign on earth is a lie. Christ the King now sits on the throne at the right hand of God and of His reign there will be no end. Because of this, we do not live in fear but rather have the courage to face the battle ahead with the Word as our sword and His armor as our protection.

Advice which I take myself: send a soil sample to your state univ., to find out what you have and what you need in your soil. Makes a huge difference and probably will save a lot of money. In our yard we trap the groundhogs and squirrels; after 30 odd years of this attention, we rarely see groundhogs. They can mow down a bed in minutes (or maybe an hour). Scout your garden perimeter for signs of excavation showing groundhog activity. Fencing is the only way I can feel confident about keeping them out. I find that deer leave iris alone. YouTube is a wonderful help--there are some people there who should not have channels (they don't know what the heck they are talking about, and newbies wouldn't recognize that), but I find lots of valuable experience there.

This is our third home in 51 years. At each we planted fruits--grapes in the first, a small 'vineyard' and fruit trees in the second--but left within 10 years so didn't reap the harvests. Moved here 36 years ago, put in fruit trees over the next few years, probably about 20, of which only 8 remain. Note that this was in the dark ages, the before-the-internet-made-information-so-widely-available. The "information differential" would have resulted, I am sure, in far more success. Two years ago a large mulberry fell, opening a lot of sunshine--clearly an opp for more trees. 5 stone fruits with currants and gooseberries between, went in. Hoping for a few fruits this season. This caused me to re-think the value of a hedgerow I had built 30 years ago, so ripped it out, put in 9 fruit trees, hazels, more elderberries last spring. Cleared out another corner, planning a hazel hedge for that space. Along remaining border, in November removed overgrown honeysuckle and forsythia and putting in plums and peach. I find I am just thinking differently about use of land. I think this is the outdoor version of people re-modeling their living space. However, a large part of my message is that so much information now is available in nursery catalogs, on nursery websites, on YouTube, that success is much more likely for anyone.

The flowers should also promote the production from the vegetables. A sweet circularity. However, do be on guard against the morning glories killing other plants--I lost a whole 5x20 bed of corn last summer, when those vines with gorgeous purple flowers thought cornstalks just the finest kind of support, and cut out the light from the corn. So no fruit. I was away too often to notice in time.

Of course, that doesn't _completely_ play out. We saw a lot of people moving from urban cities to "red state backwaters" who found that ... those "backwaters" were actually not all that bad, especially once they ditched their preconceived notions. :)

People don’t realize what they’re missing out on by not growing their own food. It’s a fabulous experience going out in the yard and picking fruit.

I started planting right after Covid. This past year I harvested (albeit small) pecans, blueberries, blackberries, persimmons, kumquats, and tangerines. My mulberry trees got confused with the late freeze and the fruit didn’t mature. I’m looking forward to what might harvested this year.

My pups set me back a bit when they tore up my young peach, nectarine, and apple trees. So I planted additional fruit trees & bushes in the side and front yard in 2022& 2023. It looks nice too. I have pawpaws, mulberries, apples, figs, goji, blueberries, blackberries, pecan, persimmons, chestnuts, plums, peaches and an Asian pear. In between the fruit and nut trees, I planted a tulip poplar and Autumn Blaze maple along with 2 Mexican Red Bird of Paradise trees.

The “Green Thumb” idea is usually just a person that has had a lot of practice, some success, and a whole lot of failures. Because in gardening, the failures are where you learn the most! Like any skill, it requires practice, not giving up, and increasing your knowledge base. Green thumbs don’t magically happen! Approach everything like a science and art experiment, and not a fail/succeed mentality and it becomes exponentially that much more fascinating and fun. Gardening encompasses ALL the learning subjects and is great exercise to boot!

Thank you for stating that so clearly--as I maintain the same. Even after 5 decades of experience, I find there are some things which do very well for me, others which struggle. It helps that husband notes morning temp and precipitation on the calendar, as well. He just likes to do that; I am the gardener.

Also--I view my gardening as my chance to be steward of my little piece of His creation.

Another way to put this manifesting concept is "energy follows thought". Yes, words do have meaning. Yes, thoughts do have meaning even if left unspoken.

There are many people around the world holding and creating positive space. Why is this important? When enough people resonate with positivity (i.e. create a large energetic field), it will aid in diminishing the negativity (also an energetic field). This is the Law of Resonance in physics.

How many times has someone feeling happy, walked into a room of people and immediately felt the happy drain - to whatever magnitude. This occurs because the room people have a larger negative field, or frequency, which extremely quickly interacts with the happy individual's field which is of smaller magnitude in this example. If the happy persons energetic field was larger than that of those in the room, the negative people would to some extent become more positive in how they're feeling. It's physics - there's no conscious choice in this because it happens to quickly. This is vibratory resonance.

Well said, they will do everything they can to drag us down and the road will be long. They will make it seem as if the odds are impossible. And yet, they are anything but. Your wisdom brought this story to mind:

----

As a group of frogs was traveling through the woods, two of them fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs crowded around the pit and saw how deep it was, they told the two frogs that there was no hope left for them.

However, the two frogs decided to ignore what the others were saying and they proceeded to try and jump out of the pit.

Despite their efforts, the group of frogs at the top of the pit were still saying that they should just give up. That they would never make it out.

Eventually, one of the frogs took heed to what the others were saying and he gave up, falling down to his death. The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die.

He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, “Did you not hear us?”

The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.

I was 50 at the time and weighed 110 lbs myself. When I made it out of the hole I realised what I’d done and collapsed. Totally agree. I often worry that my comments online are taken to mean something they are not intending to mean. I think there is value in calling out the scope and scale of the global cabal that wants to control the world (or at least all of the West, unified into one tyrannical state). They certainly have a lot of money and power. They control a lot of institutions. They try to control minds via narrative control. They are not a conspiracy theory. They are real and their plans are real.

But they are not by any means in total control. They do not have it all figured out. They are not playing 4-D chess. There is no such thing. They do not have nearly the iron-clad control that, say, Stalin had over his people. (And the USSR fell.) They TRIED to control the narrative and they've lost. That game is now over. They tried to take over the West with covid and have lost. The pushback has only just started. The lawsuits and legal remedies have only just begun. The world can once again thank the Founders of the United States for creating a system tough enough and resilient enough to handle even a carefully coordinated soft power attack from combined foreign and domestic enemies like we just lived through.

Some find this hard to believe, but we are going to win. It's not "if," it's "when."

All that being said, if a math type person was to look at my math scribbles, their pencil would bleed all over my worksheets! 😂🤣

I have a lifelong friend since before kindergarten, a penpal after my family moved to another state when we were 7 years old. She told me only as an adult that I once sent one of her letters back with grammar corrections - in red - (I had completely forgotten) and her reaction was, "That's it! I'm done!" Musta been 5th or 6th grade when English instruction was heavy into grammar, diagramming sentences. Somehow she forgave me. Her construction is pretty much impeccable these days, and for decades running. Can I take credit? Oooo, careful now. 😅 How nuts is that!!?? 😂🤣

ASSAULTS ON WASHINGTON STATE EMPLOYEES WILL BE PROSECUTED TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW

"CHAPTER 47.60 RCW"

The caps are in the original, I am not shouting.

What gets me are the quotation marks. I have this imaginary conversation in my head between the sticker contractor and the procurement officer.

Contractor, "What do you think?"

Yes Google is the state’s mouthpiece. My guess is that we’ve hit the “vaccine bad” tipping point so they’re shifting from total censorship to those stories promoted by their controlled opposition crew, including McCullough, Malone, Kirsch and Gates, the latter which will be more muted because no one trusts him anymore. They want to build trust in these phony “anti-vax” “scientists” so they will be the chosen ones to guide us henceforth. That’s how controlled op works.

I’m afraid he is. I’ll agree he’s very likable but there is a lot written about this- mostly about what he will not say. Certain individuals were elevated to the top of the anti-vax rhetoric list and are still given press over others.

Uncensored media (including that which has not been banned on YouTube) always funnels back to the CO crew (McCullough, Malone, Kirsch, Weinstein). They gather together to control the narrative: "Mistakes were made but it's brilliant technology and we'll do it better next time!"

Whatever they say or do, it's to keep the importance of vaccination alive--the rest is just drama. That they are sacrificing Pfizer and using that as a platform is a no-brainer--that injection died as soon as it hit the ground for every important reason so its not worth protecting.

They were talking about the fact that the ferrets died in the attempts to make an mRNA "vaccine" for SARS1. He knew how many steps were skipped and/or consolidated.

Expand full comment

Because they knew people would die by the millions and if Trump were re-elected, they could blame him. But then they pivoted because they knew 50% of the population wouldn't take a vaccine Trump took credit for and endorsed. Biden, Harris, and many others were caught on video saying they would never take this vaccine. That changed pretty quickly after November 2020.

All of a sudden there is more news about the horrors of these vaccines--even Google has loosened its censors on the issue---directly on the heels of the New Hampshire primary results. They know what's coming and want to use it against Trump during this campaign. And this opinion is coming from someone (me) who thinks its a very good possibility that Trump has been in on it as much as the rest of them. They'll figure out a way to undermine Trump and still preserve vaccine integrity. After all, billions are going into this psyop campaign.

She saw Dr. Malone in the lobby for an appointment., confirmed by the receptionist. Sure, this could have been Dr. Malone's doctor before the plandemic, but what are the odds he is now seeing this guy if he has not been jabbed?

The clinical trials were theater for the public, including the one that Pfizer contracted out to Ventavia which Brook Jackson was hired to supervise, machinations in dismissal of her lawsuit a case in point. Any "data" from phony clinical trials is not legit.

From the real life clinical trial, i.e., brainwashed, mandated and/or coerced injections around the globe, I hesitate to use absolutes but understand the use of "never" considering how governments, all in on the crime, will use any and all means at their disposal to keep data under wraps. They're criminals! Ed Dowd's words have been ringing in my head for a year or so. His arena/wheelhouse is different, but he said he just has to "think like a criminal" to gauge their moves. Guess I'm not understanding your frame of reference, because the FDA was in this whole mess up to their slimy behinds. If you meant only that the FDA doesn't 'approve' EUA, yes I'm aware of that. Oh, and I also have to object to your "single study' comment; there have been a few good ones out of other countries, published in such clinician-oriented journals as Nature, Biologics, Japanese Journal of Antibiotics and Infection, and the International Journals of Vaccines & Vaccinations and of Vaccine Theory, Practice and Research (the part about clinician oriented is /s). I’m not sure either Fred as I can’t access the entire thread right now, but I appreciate your response — as to the FDA, I was referencing the fact that the way this “vaccine” was introduced was never subject to FDA approval, even though (and you are correct) it was presented to the public as if it had to just like any other drug/vaccine. It turns out that the law they carefully crafted throughout several presidencies but particularly since Obama, does not require any safety testing or other oversight altogether. HHS/DOD has full authority. I know it sounds crazy, certainly unprecedented, but that was all by design. Sasha Latypova snd Katherine Watt do great work explaining how this works- and how it was long designed to be “legal” even if it killed millions.

That they all PRETENDED that the FDA had any role in this was gaslighting us all.

As for studies, I meant there are none here- none by the pharma companies or independent medical groups, that would ever help us. I do believe there are now over 2500 studies reporting on the vaccine induced myocarditis (and other vaccine harms) and certainly studies from other countries. No arguments there. by the promoters. Even so, not much released into or commented by the mainstream. And no official studies or investigation by the powers in charge that forced this on us and are insisting it works and is safe.

That they are sacrificing Pfizer and using that as a platform is a no-brainer--that injection died as soon as it hit the ground for every important reason so its not worth protecting.

Yes, there is always a lot of fist-shaking and angry rhetoric, but you'll notice he does not call out the DOD or DARPA and its role in all of this, how this was planned, or his underlying role in it or his role in the experimental vaccines used in Africa that killed so many. He has never clearly explained the mRNA role he had and why he was silent on key issues of reverse transcription, whether residing at injection site, whether vaccine content dissolved or not and when, DNA plasmid, harms etc., for he MUST have known the answers to these. It's impossible that he does not.

In Dec. 2021 he tweeted this: "In summary, the risk of hospital admission or death from myocarditis is greater following Covid-19 infections that following vaccination and remains modest following sequential doses of mRNA vaccine including a third booster dose...in the overall population." This, ---months after "almost dying" from his vaccination shots. Really? He knew better---as did many of us. Clearly, he had his orders because not enough of the gen pop had taken enough shots.

Dismay at DARPA, lol. Yes! A lot of "dismay," disappointment, mistakes were made, incompetency, anger! That stuff is rent-free. Great men and women trying their best and just screwing up, over and over again! This is the long game for these people Amy--they've been planning this for YEARS and spent billions. Do you really think they have no one playing that role of controlled opposition? If they are, then who are those people? There aren't that many to choose from---they are the ones given mainstream platforms and interviews. Do the research, then decide who to trust.

It does not divide to call out liars and gaslighters. It is part of the overall responsibility.

Dr. Malone (and Dr. McCullough) have been telling the truth about vaccine injury from day 1 - and I did research them when discerning who to trust. And I had the good fortune to meet them and have a conversation with Dr. McCullough. I don't pretend to know them, but truth tellers seem rare, so I appreciate them. Maybe looking too hard for controlled opposition can take a toll on our psyches - I know I find it overwhelming.

FlaMom-stop the hero worship and open your eyes. Take your created stories and comparisons and sell them elsewhere.

Keep in mind that Malone published his book, "And the title was "Novel Coronavirus, Prepare and Protect Yourself" in February 2020. February 2020--before the world (and certainly the US) had ever heard about Covid. He had met with Michael Callahan the CIA operative who was in Wuhan in December 2019 to help plan the "plandemic." Involved with DARPA, DOMANE, and other intelligence operations for decades.

Here are the "evil consequences" of a false hero: They say all the right things to suck you in and gain your trust, then they are placed in decision-making positions to "fix" all of the "old problems," so that you trust everything they say and recommend--after all they are on your side! Next time, he will say, THIS ONE is safe--you don't have to worry. The technology is fantastic--it's just that Pfizer and Moderna were forced to rush the earlier versions, but now we've fixed the problems. Nothing wrong with vaccines--they save lives! The next pandemic is real! And a bunch of other wild lies that you now believe because he was touted as the poor, vax-injured expert who had the balls to discredit the covid vaccine.

I suggest you read the criticism of him and make a more informed decision. You can start with Charles Wright's substack series.

I have read a lot of criticism of him, and like yours it's a lot of innuendo. I won't trust *anyone* who claims some biologic is 'good' anymore. I realize now that I was honest; at least some of my medical research colleagues were honest; but beyond that I cannot say. I do not 'worship' any human, and why you have the gall to claim to know I do is beyond me. That alone is enough for me to stop paying attention to you.

This isn't about you or me, or your colleagues. This is a well-planned and strategized program to deal with the fall out of these vaccines which occurred as soon as the first injection was administered. They knew there would be problems, so they needed a few new, but very embedded faces, to manage the outrage. They all "took" the vaccines so they could be "relatable"--Malone, Kirsch, Weinstein --all had the best interests of America in their hearts but happened to suffer injury too. How convenient. They've all been standing in place, speaking out only in proportion to public awareness, expressing empathy and regret but not demanding justice or investigation. Moving on! They are here for one reason: to calm the marks.

When Trudeau "Hitler" froze their bank accounts and many others for just donating, many people lost everything, their homes, they couldn't eat or buy needed medicines, it was horrific, so with this win, Trudeau "Hitler" is forced to pay back all the money spent in court by plaintiffs. I believe he should be arrested and locked up for the amount of clear crimes he's committed. He recently took a vacation where we, the tax payers paid for his $9000 plus a night trip, he is evil and demonic, the WEF chose him because he's got shit between his ears and is easily manipulated to do evil. Germany flourished during this time after establishing their own currency. The Reichsmark. He didn't want war. He stated it clearly 3 times. Yes, he burned books but it was all the degenerate filth he burned. I was more disgusted with how the German POW's were treated by Eisenhower. I started researching when I realized I had been lied to about the Gulf War while deployed. Nothing but banker wars for those who hunger for complete control and domination. May I just humbly say, be careful about the "insurance crisis" game, this is what all the leftists are doing, as if government can solve market problems. If there is a way for the governor to influence and encourage business in a different direction, he will do it. But it is not the role of government to subsidize insurance in another government bureaucratic spending boondoggle. DeSantis has another three years in Florida, and that is a very long time for people to forget, for him to accomplish things, and for him to learn lessons from the national scene. He will likely never have the charisma, but he may have enough other desirable characteristics.

I fear that your dreams will never be fulfilled. Trump’s weakness is that he doesn’t actually understand how to govern. The whole deep state will be against him and the swamp republicans will do nothing to assist him and us. DeSantis would had been a better choice if you actually wanted to accomplish something conservative. The backlash in 2028 if Trump were to win in 2024 will make it difficult for the Republicans to win in 28.

In response to your comment that Trump “doesn’t actually understand how to govern”...he was able to stay out of war, managed to gain a semblance of normal relations with our adversaries and was respected throughout the world. Our economy was doing well, we were energy independent and his “America First” policies were bearing fruit. This all happened while being undermined, lied about, deceived by members of his own cabinet and vilified by the press. The 2020 election was rigged and stolen from him. He isn’t perfect, neither are you or me. Only Jesus Christ lived a perfect life on this earth. I’m sick of the criticism from people who haven’t walked in his shoes. You have a right to your opinion but Monday morning quarterbacking accomplishes nothing but negativity. President Trump is still my choice for 2024. Our nation will not survive if he doesn’t prevail and maybe that’s part of God’s perfect plan as revealed in the book of Revelation.

As a FL resident and as much as I appreciate what DeSantis has done, I have to say that the claim that he saved the country from Covid tyranny is a bit of an exaggeration. As Governor, DeSantis pushed the shot as much as anyone did, especially on the elderly, and by the time he ended the lockdown and banned the mandates, the roll-out of the bio-weapon was a fiat accompli. It made for great theater but effectively did nothing to protect the citizens of FL from the bio-weapon. The shot had already been delivered. Furthermore, the shot is STILL being legally administered in FL. So where is the ban?

Trump was given the Executive Order, which was later dubbed Operation Warpspeed, to sign 3 MONTHS before Covid was even a thing. Three month before the first covid patient. Do you think the deep state told him they planned to use that EO to kill people? Or do you think they lied to him about what the EO was? I'll give you 3 seconds to answer: Go.

DeSantis on the other hand, had much more information available to him yet he locked FL down and pushed the shots. He did this even after Dr. Martin had published all the evidence of the shots lethality, evidence I personally sent him, his AG and his Surgeon General. Trump had none of the information, only what the deep state wanted him to know. He was lied to just as JFK was lied to about Cuba.

Expand full comment
Skeptical Actuary's avatar

He's talked about the dangers of the shots and appointed a surgeon general who is honestly looking into all the dangers and is trying to get them pulled.

That's a lot. He's admitted that going along with the lockdowns was a mistake (in hindsight).

Expand full comment
Politico Phil's avatar

Yeah, there is a lot of hindsight going on these days. I think Trump is ready to put some of that to use - IF he lives long enough. I wouldn't give him more than 50/50 odds.

As for DeSantis, he has not had the courage to declare the shot a bio-weapon and ban it by Executive Order until the results of a full forensic audit is performed even though it is BEYOND dispute that this is reality. As such he is complicit in every death and injury still occurring.

Honestly, this was my biggest reservation in supporting Trump again. I don't want to rehash, again, the BUT, BUT, BUT argument loop but I will say that I hope he really has learned and that he acts decisively on the issues he can (e.g. how great would it be for him to call for a true Covid inquiry and reveal all the Deep State bad actors who undermined him throughout the pandemic?). Meanwhile, it’s clear that the left just don’t get it. In this op-ed, you could take out every reference to stopping Trump and insert stopping conservatives who hate the deep state:

“We told ourselves that Robert Mueller’s investigation or Trump’s first impeachment or his second impeachment would stop him. We told ourselves that the methodical work of the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol would seal his political doom. We told ourselves that he couldn’t survive four indictments encompassing 91 felony counts. We told ourselves that his outbursts were finally growing too vicious, his temper too volcanic, his lies too outrageous and ornate.”

It’s not about Trump, he’s just currently the most likely person to do anything about it. We hate the corruption, the lying, the evil, the loss of freedoms, the brokenness of our country, and impeachments, indictments, and congressional hearings don’t do a thing to change that perspective. Get rid of Trump, and we’ll find another the left hates just as much.

Soon-Shiong did not make his (first few) billions in vaccines. I worked for him in the early 2000’s. He made his first few billions building APP Pharmaceuticals, (generic injectable pharma), and the amazing drug Abraxane, which is albumin-fused paclitaxel for cancer treatment. It’s a brilliant invention, sImple, obvious, yet not conceived before. He’s a brilliant inventor. After the sale of APP to Fresenius Kabi for roughly $4B, Abraxis, (parent company of Abraxane), was sold to Celgene for ~$3B. Like all billionaires, he isn’t the most likable, but he is brilliant. Saying I don't like the billionaires writing their own laws is far different from wanting to write them myself.

I consider myself conservative socially, but more of a mixed bag economically. Economically, I'd like to see the US more like it was back in the 50s, where middle class families could own homes (or afford a decent apartment) with only one income. So I favor policies that tend toward that.

Quite a few studies have found that billionaires actually pay about the same or less as a % of their income than average people, because they get so much of it in the form of dividends (they got to write the laws, remember?) And they have a lot of tax shelters available. I don't think it's too draconian to have a 2% or 3% annual wealth tax on wealth beyond $20 million or so. That and steep taxes on residences that are kept vacant. And have small taxes (0.01%) on stock trades to cut back on the high volume trading that kills us little people. In return we need to cut sales taxes and other regressive taxes.

Add in Twitter's "Community Notes" and it's even harder to push a false narrative that doesn't get checked by others.

I'm kind of curious about what's next for the Canada ruling. There have been a couple of good "case dismissed" type reports or "that was massive overreach" (in this case), but it still seems like our neighbours to the north have a long way to go in order to get their freedom and rights back.
