Do not be wise in your own mind. Never paying back evil for evil to anyone, respecting what is good in the sight of all men, if possible, so far as it depends on you, being at peace with all men, never taking your own revenge, beloved—instead leave room for the wrath of God. For it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Good morning Janice, your verse today is a good one and I would like to throw a couple of my pennies out there.

“For it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.”

I would like to replay my reply to an earlier C&C post: “For the sake of those of us who believe in God, I would like to say that maybe we shouldn’t be so concerned about consequences in this life for these evil people, but more, I’m thinking, we should be satisfied that what was whispered in secret is shouted from the Internet, and what was done in the dark is brought into the LIGHT.

…God can handle the rest of it.”

“But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink;…”

In the latter part of the month of September back in 2001, I witnessed televised network news interviews with five of the leading Christian televangelists in America, every one of whom was fully in favor of bombing their enemy instead of feeding them or giving them something to drink, apparently believing that was a fulfillment of this part of the verse; “for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Actually, ‘heaping burning coals on his head’, was not a reference to dropping bombs on your enemy, but instead to the ancient custom of sharing your household fire with someone whose fire had gone out. They carried the coals in a pan on their head, so when you heaped those coals on his head, you were actually helping him get his fire started, which was a favor. A favor which perhaps equates to sharing the gospel with someone that lacks that fire.

… come on ,Jesus, light my fire

We need to also be careful and WISE when we ‘feed our enemies’.

The Kibutzim that shared the border with the Palestinians became ‘friends’ with the very people who murdered them in their sleep. They invited these demons into their homes and broke bread with them.

They took note of where they slept, which ones had dogs, they shot the dogs immediately and killed many of the children first.

Some of the Gazan families came in and took hostage and/or murdered some of the very families who ‘thought’ these Gazans were their friends.

But then, the kibbutzim families were the very ones pushing for the Government to divide the Land, which GOD expressly ordered them NOT to do.

Discernment is the order of the day.

We need to remember Yeshua also told his disciples that while he was gone, they were to carry swords.

You are correct CStone. I believe the music concert was also geared towards 'peace', and became a death trap.

I will never think less of the massacre, a real genocide, and the evil that occurred that day, by the misguided intent of kibbutzim residents and the concert participants.

The spiritual battle became crystal clear that day. Many of the heinous actions that were carried out in those hours were done by 'civilians' with permission of uniformed Hamas fighters. Pure drug fueled hatred that defies any earthly explanation.

Yes, so many of these commands were for Christians with Christians (Jews with Jews before Christ came) who shared the same values. Many see kindness as weakness, an invitation to harm. So while kindness is our mode of operation, discernment has to be our guide. King David, a man after God’s own heart, waged war on his enemies practically his entire reign in order to protect Israel.

This is more of a question or concern. At some point it seems to me that dropping bombs on someone's head is accountability and not vengeance. Governments are supposed to protect their citizens just like we are required to protect our families.

It was American and European christian government leaders that decided to bomb good and gentle people in Afghanistan and Iraq, resulting in millions upon millions of angry people crossing borders with a chip on their shoulders as they left their bombed out homes on the way to the homes of good and gentle people in other countries.

The mistake that many christians make is thinking that their country is the only country that is justified in wreaking vengeance upon their enemies. As you and I and others, even on this post, proclaim absolute defense of our homes and families, we neglect to consider the fact that there are many previously good and gentle men in Iraq and Afghanistan, who have seen their families devastated by American and European bombs, that feel the same way, which is why I referred to a chip on their shoulders.

… so maybe bombing them wasn’t such a good idea after all

Bombing those people was simply wrong and now good and gentle people in America and Europe are paying the price for the mistakes that our leaders have made.

… mistakes that many christians have applauded

Here's just one little clue. Isn't it interesting that our govt was able to find among all the wreckage, the undamaged passports of the specific alleged terrorists right on top of the mess? Right there alone, it should make you think something stinks. 9/11 ushered in the surveillance state we now have with the Patriot Act removing much of the Constitution as law. It allowed the Afghan forever war, it allowed the reshaping of the Middle East with the invasion of Iraq (again).

And the Oct 7 event in Israel allowed that gov't to carry out it's current genocide.

You can pretend not to see if it makes you more comfortable.

I too, care about innocent Americans being killed. Which is why I mentioned how the good and gentle people in America and Europe are paying the price for the deadly decision to bomb those two countries and the people in them, countries that hadn’t done a damn thing to us. Your thinking that Iraq or Afghanistan had anything to do with the twin towers in New York is totally without basis in fact, completely without evidence, and we all should know Iraq was based on a lie. That is not speculation. American government leaders conspired with leaders of European countries, for example, Britain and Germany, to bomb two countries that had not done anything to any of us. And as a result of that conspiracy, people in Europe and in America are going to suffer the consequences. That is not speculation. It is not ‘could have been’, it is ‘gonna be and now is’. It is happening today on the streets in America and Europe. Murder and rape and kidnapping and torturing little children to death is being done to American and European christians today, by muslim migrants who are doing it as a consequence of us dropping bombs on Iraq and Afghanistan. That’s what I’m saying and there ain’t no denying.

Very few christians are aware of the law concerning the ‘avenger’ (redeemer) of blood, where it was required by God that if any man killed someone, on purpose, that someone’s male blood relative was required to kill the killer, in order to redeem the life that was lost. That’s the chip that these muslim men carry on their shoulders into our previously peaceful countries, and we’re talking about men that cut other men’s heads off in the middle of the town square. For show.

Men that prefer to kill with knives because it’s more personal. And some of these previously good and gentle muslim men have watched their wives and children burn to a grotesque death because of the phosphorus bombs that ‘we’ dropped through their roofs while they were sleeping. And ‘we’ here in America slough it off as though it was righteous and justified. I’m calling bullshit.

“Although they know God's judgment that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do these things but also approve of others who do them.” Rom1:32

There are comments on this post today by men who say they will kill to protect their families. I am one of them. What could possibly make us think that some of these muslim men are any different when it comes to their families? (It is actually lack of thinking that makes us think that, just saying.) I’m saying that America and Europe killed the families of muslim men that believe that they’re required by their god to kill ‘us’ back. Life for life. Think about that.

By us, I mean any of us, including you and me, essenbe. And what I’m trying to say here is simply that you and I, well I don’t know about you, but I know I, and many ‘innocent’ Americans and Europeans don’t deserve to have a muslim man fulfill that requirement by taking any of our lives. I didn’t want anything to do with bombing Iraq or Afghanistan. I don’t know about you, but that’s the point I’m trying to make here. There are millions of people in Iraq and Afghanistan that didn’t want to have anything to do with fighting a war with America. They did not attack us, contrary to your misconception of what happened in New York. It is common, and easily available, information that proves those two countries had nothing to do with that day, ‘though it requires that one is able to ‘see’ in spite of all of the smoke and mirrors.

A wise man once said, “if you want to know why someone (gov’t leaders) did something, just look at the outcomes.”

One of the outcomes of ‘us’ bombing them is that there are now untold tens of millions of people that have been driven from their homes into other countries because the homes were bombed. We now have millions of angry men roaming our streets, when, before we bombed them, they roamed their own streets. Maybe that outcome was what the leaders wanted.

Regardless, we have learned that there are consequences for our actions. We are living, and dying, in the consequence of us dropping bombs on our enemy. And it’s not good.

…So maybe instead of bombs, bread and water.

America generally tries to target military positions. Muslim military targets civilians. The good and gentle Muslims allowed their military to camp in schools and hospitals and residential areas. If you watched any of the programs on fighting in Afghanistan, you would have seen our soldiers tracking a Muslim target, calling back to some office in D. C. to get permission to shoot when he was identified and being denied that permission because a possible civilian was in the vicinity.

Expand full comment
Jeremiah Davidson's avatar

What you say is true Donna, however, we’re discussing the idea that bombing these people was a horrible mistake. The things that you point out actually bolster that argument by pointing out that bombing them was a logistical nightmare that America would have done well to avoid. Your use of the words ‘generally tries’ implies that America does hit targets other than military positions, which is true. There have been reports of large numbers of innocent muslim civilians that have died due to the bombs that American and European gov’t leaders chose to drop upon these two countries.

Hence, the American military‘s use of the words ‘collateral damage’.

Your statement that “Muslim military targets civilians” gives us a good reason to consider the wisdom of dropping bombs on people that we know are gonna kill innocent American and European civilians in return. I’m saying that it was not a good idea to drop these bombs in the first place, you’re talking about the problems that existed after we started bombing them.

… problems that would not have existed if we had obeyed God

So here are my twisted first thoughts but not sure what I would actually do...

We should remember these verses when a drugged, possibly violent, homeless man comes into your yard and scares your children while playing...

Maybe feed and clothe him... pray with him. God may save his soul.

However, it is risky with people who are drugged with nothing to lose.

Sounds looney but it may change his life and then if he doesn't move on, cock your gun and defend your family.

I had a similar situation in L.A., part of what prompted my move to Idaho after 68 years in California. We were installing a new garage door. Our property was alongside an alley way, (which had been a safe place for 30+ years). My family was in the back yard having a birthday party with many neighbor kids included, when a severely deranged larger man and his "woman" barged into my yard terrifying everyone. they were unspeakably filthy and very loud and threatening. After several of the "MEN" tried to wrangle these two and getting hurt in the process. I decided that I wasn't going to pray for them, feed them or offer housing. All of the children were now safely inside my home and out of sight when I appeared with my "unapproved" California 9mm pistol. When these two saw their immediate future staring them in the face, their fear mongering and threatening disappeared and so did they, never to return.

Just to quantify: I am a born again Christian my entire life (73yrs). I along with my family, do not fear the defensive use of firearms.

1 Timothy 5:8:

"But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." This verse emphasizes the responsibility to care for and provide for one's family.

Excellent! I find it appalling when people who likely have never faced evil in their lives try to use scripture to advise those of us who have, to be loving & supportive, & passively accept the decaying status quo to allow God to handle evil. Weak-kneed Christianity is a path to obliteration of otherwise good & gentle people. As for me, we do not welcome illegal alien invaders or psychotic lunatics into our household, city or State. My first & foremost duty is to my family not the imported street vermin whose primary purpose seems to be to justify billion$ of ineffective "aid" & pad vote totals for urban Leftist politicians. I read your account and William's account - both of you relocated from quite liberal/permissive locations to conservative states. From what I can see, each of you had a breaking point that caused you to leave the permissive locale. Before you left, did you generally agree with the policies that resulted in the disaster that caused you to leave and therefore it was acceptable until it came through your front door? (My husband's zone of attention is focused on the front door and what comes through it - ok, technically, the front yard and I try to "shame" him by saying he doesn't care until it comes through his front door. :)) Or did you tolerate them because, in your case, it sounds like you wanted to surf which you obviously can't do where you are now? Or something else? I am interested in the psychology of humans when they end up like the frog in the proverbial boiling pot of water. Lastly, in your new location are you vigilant for cues that it's going in the same direction as Ca? Dawn, I think of this issue every time I see a homeless and/or pitiful person downtown or beside the road. My heart goes out to them, but I don't know what my role is. That said, some years ago a friend's son was in the hospital near me. The Lord led me to bring two sandwiches for him. On the way there, a man was on a corner where many times people are panhandling and I felt compelled to give him one of the sandwiches, so I did. This dilemma feels like a tight-rope walk between ministering and staying "safe." But then I wonder if we are supposed to strive to be safe. Or if even being concerned about that shows a lack of faith in God's ability to lead and protect. Just throwing some thoughts out there . . .

It spoke to it when she changed her voice. I called it a liar and to leave her in the name of Jesus. She snapped out of it and told me she can't talk to me anymore. There is more but that was a short version.

I have to present an alternative picture of the Fed to the one presented by our esteemed host. Not sure which is accurate, but here are some facts and theories.

It does not appear accurate to say that Powell held rates down through the Obiden presidency and then raised them on Trump. Quite the opposite appears to be true.

According to my AI, Powell raised rates from .33% to 5.33% between 2022 and 2023, as soon as he got out from under Covid and right in the middle of the Biden presidency. Then he eased down a point between September and December 2024, just as Trump was taking control.

The Fed is a problem, for sure, but in practical terms, it has been raising the cost of off-shore dollars and bringing them back home to be retired. Meanwhile, the near zero-interest money that Ubu ushered in, which was then used by foreign actors (e.g. Soros) to start revolutions, pay off politicians, and pull shenanigans like BLM has become much less available and more costly. (Probably one reason why recent agitprop events like "No Kings" have been so small and unimpressive. It takes lots of money to stage those things.)

There is a theory that Powell and Trump are working together but that they must seem to be adversaries to maintain the appearance of an independent Fed.

I also happen to think that very low interest rates are bad. They only encourage investments in worthless things because the money is nearly "free".

I’m not arguing the numbers, but this statement jumped out at me: “Then he eased down a point between September and December 2024, just as Trump was taking control.”

President Trump was not taking control during that time frame. He was inaugurated on January 21. He may have hit the ground running, but he had zero control of the federal government at that time.

Those months straddle the first quarter of our federal government fiscal year 2025 (10/-12/31). In fact I wonder at the trick employed to use the month of September in the description, which I assume was generated by an AI tool.

Anyway, that first fiscal quarter would be the “Biden” administration crucial last full quarter in office, and TPTB likely hoped lowering interest rates in any amount would juice overall economic numbers, even a tiny bit. (Given the significantly corrected numbers around employment and GDP, I can’t see how it would have made a difference, but that question is well above my pay grade.)

We need lower interest rates but that’s because we spend trillions of $ too much money every year so we have to pay interest at current rates. When I was a senior in high school interest rates were 16.64%. Current 6-7% mortgage rates are nowhere near high historically. We have a govt spending problem not an interest rate problem.

Is it just me, but when I look at the photo of the Hindu temple, the Fed construction project comes to mind; maybe it’s because of what appears to be two buildings. I can imagine the high priest, and head priest of the temple, walking around the site, 1,500 years ago, having pretty much the same conversation . . . and then, as now, the head priest of the temple was in trouble.

Expand full comment
Reasonable Horses's avatar

You set up an interesting metaphor. That Hindu Priest of a Divided Site came before Cambodia and Thailand bombed what they fight over. “Shiva, God of Destruction” is an alias for Satan, “the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon, the Destroyer” (Revelation 9:11). Reminds me of Solomon’s test of true love: “Shall we split the baby?” The childish and fatal choice is, “Yes, if I can’t have it, neither can you.”

Stretching the metaphor . . . When we don’t live up to our founding principle, one nation under God, we preside over our own destruction. Way back in 1 Kings 18:21, Elijah boiled it down. “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him. But if Baal is God, follow him.”

Apparently, “Baal” means something like “owner or possessor.” Chilling notion.

Jeremiah Davidson's avatar

Baal son of el

El means God

El had been the primary god of Canaan

Baal is the son of El

Baal means lord or owner or master or husband

Baal was a common term for husband. (Bridegroom)

Baal was storm and fertility god (Canaan)ite

His symbol was a bull.

The two gods that Jeroboam put up in Israel for the people to worship were golden bulls

Baal (bull) worship was taught by the church leaders of Israel as religious truth. It wasn’t. It was just the false teachings of men. (not biblical truth)

Elijah tried to stop the worship of Baal, the son of El (the son of God).

Elijah is type of the bride (Elisha-144,000 invited guests?)

Cult strengthened again after Elijah.

(Seems like Elisha didn’t do a very good job.)

Was finally crushed by Jehu. (Jehovah is he)

God did not want them to worship the son of god.

“You shall be in charge of my house, and all my people are to obey your commands. Only with regard to the throne will I be greater than you.” (Gen41:40)

… this explains why Jesus said “God is greater than I”

Expand full comment
Reasonable Horses's avatar

Nicely fleshed out. Child sacrifice to Baal must be the ultimate insult to our Creator and “Redeemer who formed you in the womb” (Isaiah 44:24). It puts abortion in the proper light of a kidnap/murder. The vile irony of Satan calling himself a husband to whom Jesus claims as His bride. God designed a husband to create and protect life, not put children to horrific deaths.

Good point about Jesus saying “God is greater than I.” It magnifies His sacrifice of not only crucifixion but giving up His seat in heaven to live in this filthy world. Then He returned to heaven and said, “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth… He lives with you and will be in you” (John 14:16-17). I picture Jesus returning to heaven where He and the Holy Spirit high-five, and the Holy Spirit says, “OK, I’m going in to close out the game.” What kind of love is this? It’s another Holy sacrifice to protect and empower us on this corrupt earth.

“Or do you think Scripture says without reason that He jealously longs for the Spirit He has caused to dwell in us?” (James 4:5). He longs to bring His Spirit home, and the Spirit will take us too. I can hardly wait for the Holy Spirit to say about His role, “It is finished.”

Expand full comment
Jeremiah Davidson's avatar

Thanks for the compliment, Reasonable Horses. (Are there 4 horses?) I really like the things that you said here, and would like to discuss some of them with you.

It’s not only an insult to God, but one of the few things that he calls an abomination. The book says that we sacrifice our children to demons. These demons inhabit the bodies of those people that are torturing and terrifying the children, draining and drinking their blood, harvesting their organs, killing them, and ultimately cooking and eating them. Man (or horses) talk about an abomination. Jesus said it would be better for them that a millstone be tied around their neck and they be cast into the deep than what is ultimately gonna happen to them when they stand in front of him and receive their eternal judgement.

And now on the subject of spirits. Jesus said “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the spirit of truth… He lives with you and will be in you”

This is what God said previously; “And I will give them one heart, and I will put a NEW SPIRIT within them; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh” Ezek11:19

And again; “I will give you a new heart and put a NEW SPIRIT within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. / And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes and to carefully observe My ordinances.” Ezek36:26,27

Hebrews chapter 12 refers to God as the father of spirits, plural spirits. So what if the ‘spirit of truth’ that Jesus is referring to is not the third person of the Trinity God, but is in fact, a new spirit that is born of God, in fulfillment of the statement that Jesus made to Nicodemus, that we must be born from above in order to enter the kingdom. I’m thinking he was referring to the new spirit, born of God, that would be placed within us. A new spirit that is holy because it was born of God. A new spirit, a baby spirit that must be nourished by us and formed within us with God’s help, until it’s eating meat and not just drinking milk. That might be referenced in Hebrews chapter 6.

That might explain this quote in your response; “Do you think Scripture says without reason that He jealously longs for the spirit He has caused to dwell (birthed) in us?”

…think about it and then talk to me about it

Expand full comment
Reasonable Horses's avatar

“Abomination” and none of your sick embellishment appear in Matthew 18:6. Jesus welcomed children and said to the crowd, “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in Me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”

Scripture speaks of both created spirits—angels and demons—and the Holy Spirit of the Trinity. John 14 and James 4 unambiguously use the singular form. “The Spirit of truth… He lives with you and will be in you” and “He jealously longs for the Spirit He has caused to dwell in us.”

Your notion of baby spirits is occultic and has no basis in scripture. 2 Timothy 2:15 says, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

Got into a bit of a heated discussion yesterday. My 13 year old dog has a fast growing bump on her muzzle just above her nose. We biopsied it yesterday, she looked at the slide and wasn’t sure but we could send it to a pathologist just in case, for $260 on top of the $130 for the office visit and the needle aspiration. And when we were discussing whether to spend the money or not, I asked about treatment and she said if bad, chemo or radiation. I said, no, it’s not a good spot, and I would consider ivermectin and Fenbenzadole first. She got a little heated and said all those studies have ‘been debunked and said furthermore ivermectin didn’t cure covid’. Boy, she’s an MD who works in a holistic clinic. When I first went there 2 years ago I tried to get in with the holistic vet, but her practice was full. So, ended up with this doc as second best.

Now what? I realize I am worrying about something prematurely but what if it’s cancerous, there are no other natural vets in our area.

Ivermectin and fenbendazole would be a good way to go for your pooch. Just get the dog tested for the MDR1 gene since some dogs cannot tolerate ivermectin. You can order a test online. I paid $79 and it just required a cheek swab. Ivermectin can also be used, topically (paste form) on external cancers. If for some reason you can’t use the ivermectin, you can still use the fenbendazole, CBD, turkey tail mushrooms, etc. You could also consider a very low carbohydrate food, and feeding him once a day only would simulate the intermittent fasting that has shown to be so powerful for humans in their battles against cancer. Cancerous tumors need glucose to survive, and intermittent fasting and a low carbohydrate. diet helps starve the tumors.

My wife eliminated her Stage 2 Breast cancer taking 222mg of Fenben 3X per week. It was before we knew about Ivermectin's anti-cancer properties. She is cancer free, and still has a reduced size necrotic tumor. Oncologists think tumor size reduction is the cancer holy grail. Except for skin and uterine cancer, cancer is systemic, so eliminating the tumor does not eliminate the cancer in your body. The medical murder mafia would consider the 80 % reduction of this man't tumor a great success if their chemo or radiation had done it, even if he died. Sick but true.

We need to stop following their lead and tackle and measure cancer systemically, through great tracers such as nagalese and HCG, Human Chorionic Gonadotropen . Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to find anywhere to test these, as the MMM knows these are cheap reliable cancer tests so they eliminated the few places that did these test's ability to source the chemicals required. Very cheap. $65 plus shipping., 95 % + reliable, so long as you are not pregnant or have s serious trauma wound. Does not tell you where the cancer is, but as I said, since cancer is systemic, it doesn't matter. These tests also blow "the tumor, the tumor" psyop out of the water too, another reason the MMM does not want people using them.

We switched to American Metabolic in Hollywood Florida. A lot more expensive, but they did more tests too, and were very reliable. Almost all the employees had been there for decades. They got shut down at the end of last year when they had their chemical pipeline starved . Very sad. I talked to woman there , and she said between the chemical cut off, and their rent tripling, the owners had to give it up. It was always run more as a service than a profit center.

I’m willing to have the DOJ charge Obama and all the rest. What’s bad for the country is for them to get away with this. Who cares whether the media is covering it. That’s irrelevant. Obama, Comey, Brennan, Clapper and the rest need to be charged. Let them get lawyers and have their day in court. If the DOJ can’t prove their case then they all walk, but they must be charged and they must stand trial. The allegations against them are serious and MUST be investigated.

No one is above the law! Isn’t that what we heard for the last 5 years?

There is no statue of limitation on treason. Someone is putting that out there, but that is a lie.

Btw there was a statue of limitation on sexual assault accusations in NY, and the NY representative changed the law so they could charge Trump with rape after 30 yrs.

You think We the People are going to let Obama, Comey, Brennan, Clapper and the rest off that easy?

Have you not been paying attention? We’re taking our country back. These treasonous traitors will be given their day in court, but they WILL be charged because We the People will demand it.

We see how much effect that outrageous attorney fees (to me, not to lawyers) have on a person's wealth. Charge Obama - maybe he will have to sell 1/3 acre of his Martha's Vineyard seacoast mansion to cover his own attorney fees. Although there should be a few steadfast Dem supporters willing to put out a few more bucks to help keep Obama solvent.

It’s time for the New York Times to be recognized as anything but a newspaper.

The classification of ‘newspaper’ gives it immunity under the First Amendment. They continue to publish stories that are opinion and not facts throughout their product without labeling it ‘OPINION’… opinion is printed within the Editorial Section of the paper.

The DOJ should take the New York Times to court and let the Times defend the undefendable.

It has more than usual free speech protection, I think. There was a case in which the NYT made up lies about a town's racial policies (decades ago) and the town took them to court. Through all the appeals, I think all the way up to SCOTUS, it was established that 1) the NYT was lying 2) it had harmed the reputation of the town and some of its officials 3) the NYT was free to continue the lying.

Somehow the usual defamation exception to the first amendment doesn't apply to newspapers.

Yes. Some homeless want to be that way. Not sure if it’s psychological issues or drugs. I say, fine, you want to be homeless, ok, but go be homeless somewhere that won’t disturb the rest of us. I don’t want to sound uncaring but it’s all gotten too far out of hand. Jeff hit the truth when he said it’s about the money all the supposed “helpers” are getting. They don’t care about bit about the homeless as long as the money keeps flowing. This is probably another situation where churches would’ve stepped in and outcomes would probably be better.

Churches do step up, you just don't see it unless you look at churches budgets. In our community a new tiny home community for homeless seniors has sprouted up and is funded in great part by churches, orgs, and individuals giving monthly donations and helping to build the homes. Of course, any grants these projects manage to get for start-up is key, I won't downplay that.

Expand full comment
Bryn Cannon's avatar

In blue cities, unfortunately, a lot of churches contribute to the problem. When we lived in Seattle, it was common for churches to take turns “hosting” tent cities in their parking lots. The laws at the time said they could stay in one place for up to 3 or 4 months before they had to move on to another spot. Some congregations would also collect donated tents for the homeless. They had to be brand new, of course!

Oh Sarah's avatar

Churches used to be islands of refuge in a sea of uncertainty, but a lot of them are full of ultra bleeding heart liberals now.

Catholic Social Services has been pretty busy trafficking illegals into the US for the past four years.

I guess we should all be grateful that they have branched out and away from exclusively abusing little boys and now also facilitate the abuse of little girls too. That’s DEI in action folks!!

Oregon coffers will be hurting with this homeless funding change. The State does the very opposite of best practices for the homeless. The woke guv will just dig in her heels but Trump's plan is the best chance for the homeless. Oregon's red counties figured how to get around the State's liberal policies, so we look nothing like Portland when it comes to homeless, and we offer good services to those wanting it.
