Good moral character is learned through teaching and learning. The curriculum to teach such is simply not available in public schools as the book that actually does that is not used, even banned from public schools.
We're legal aliens since 8 years already and before the 10 years is up want to become citizens. I didn't realize how great the USA is until we came to live here. I never missed old Blighty except, maybe, we could go to the sea (Bournemouth) in a few hours drive.

True story:
I was at the UoA in Edmonton a few years back, (loooong story that ended up with me having a broken jaw, (which mended itself by itself so still broken, but not) and a perforated ulcer FROM the "free" health care here), laying there one morning looking out the window on the 4th floor. The scenery was a rooftop of a lower floor. I know, totally grand for a soul's well being. Anyhoo, as I lay there, a cobra chicken landed and looked right into the window. Her big beautiful brown eyes looked directly into my now big green eyes directly, lasting well over 30 seconds! It was like we divinely connected with each other and I took it as a God Nod that I was going to be ok.
Her mate landed shortly after and they hung around there for a while, both peeking in randomly, before taking off to go build themselves a temporary home (see what I did there...lol), which they protect - FIERCELY - to death even. Side note: if a mate gets killed, the living mate will never mate with another, that's how loyal they are as well. A nurse came in and before she could plug another IV into my arm, I told her I had guests and to look out the window, which she did. She recoiled back and said, "I hate geese! They scare me!"
I just chuckled, thanked God for showing me He was there with me, and then winced when she jabbed in the IV a little extra hard.
PS - those "angry geese" in your next comment are ALSO defending their kids from those pesky people "attacking" them. I would imagine the Eagles would do the same if some jackass climbed high enough to bother the babies, eh.😉
I had a pet Pekin duck when I was a teenager. She was fully trained and a wonderful companion for a girl who loves animals. I noted that Haitians would be in back of the house, across a small canal and were fishing. This was in South Florida. We saw this in many different areas of the neighborhood. You could hear them speaking Creole. A few days after they started fishing across the narrow canal, my duck was gone. I never saw them come back after that. I had no doubt then and have no doubt now they stole her and ate her. I hope they choked on her bones.
How horrible. I love ducks! Our neighbors out here in the country had some that would come over on our property and swim around in our shallow pond, and I’d see them every day on my walk. Haven’t seen them in weeks, I guess they sold or ate them. Not Haitians, but we’ve been told by other neighbors that they are “strange”.

I really think that's not likely that he's dumb in any conventional sense. If you look at his background, education, his interviews from years ago, events from Art of The Deal, etc, he hardly comes across as either dumb or uninsightful. He's unusually clever and effective, and much braver than most.
I acknowledge that there are a lot of smart people that I either dislike or think are wrong/evil. E.g. Michael Bloomberg is a very intelligent man, very clever and peceptive, and right about many things. I just despise his statist and anti-freedom beliefs. Josh Shapiro is very smart. True Story: In early Summer 2022 - I saw something strange at a hotel in downtown Orlando. The hotel was a place where many Federal Marshalls stayed during regional training. In May, there were about 12-15 very fit, young Haitian men - all under 32 or so- with rolex's and satellite phones - at the hotel bar - just hanging out, working out at the hotel gym - for HOURS. Speaking creole to each other, talking into those satellite phones. Two days later, there were about 25. I asked three of them: "Are you guys here for a ...security conference?" Their fitness levels and satellite phones being the tell. One turned and walked away, one looked at his taller buddy "We're here at the request of the U.S. Government for a few weeks" - positively SMUG. I texted one of the Federal Marshalls I had befriended at the hotel bar in the months prior. I also called Gov Ron DeSantis' office. The next day - the Haitians were GONE. But the Federal Marshall came to talk to me and take a statement. He shared that many in the Marshalls program had switched to DHS. They believe that from 75,000-100,000 Haitian men have been placed in Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Jacksonville. They are all military trained, funded by NGO's - and all are armed ( explains the satellite phones). They also fully believe they are to foment civil wars - and their estimates are that militias are in close to 100 American cities ( not just Haitians, but militias of all stripes: Venezuelan, Chinese, Etc)
My husband was in Military Intelligence for decades and has been warning about this exact scenario since before 9/11. Make no mistake, they’re here and have been for a long time. I deal with a dentist in western North Carolina. He hired a new assistant about two years ago. She is a licensed dentist and a legal immigrant from Cuba. But the NC board of medical registrations does not recognize out-of-US licensure - for that matter, NC does not even recognize most out-of-STATE licensures. So this woman, who is qualified to perform most any dental service, is limited to employment as a hygienist. If the dentist tasks her otherwise, HE might lose HIS license.
My point with this anecdote? If North Carolina can enforce medical licensure laws, so can any other state that chooses to. Goodbye, TPS-enabled Haitian "doctors" ...
That's right... My father migrated from Cuba and obtained his citizenship here in the US. He was educated in the US at Georgia Tech and was licensed in Cuba, where we lived, as a Structural Engineer. After coming to America he worked as a draftsman for minimum wage until be could take his licensing exams - which he did for Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana.

After listening to the interagency presser on the healthcare fraud takedown a few days ago, indoctrination is not the only reason to not trust doctors. Horrible stories about patients getting wrong or no care, and death, resulting from fraudulent practices.
Not sure that is generalizable beyond the usual suspects.
For the record, I think there is still a lot of positive to be said for American medicine.
On a related topic, I do wish the alternative press would do more than go after pharma and blame doctors. The bigger problems that will result in a care crisis down the pike in 10-20 yrs are 1. the relentless corporatization/managerialization of medicine that results in dumbing-down of care, one-size-fits-all "standardization of care", endless masking, endless COVID mRNA pushing, and more pay for the bureaucratic layers with more insurance denials. Realize that a lot of practice is compelled from above. 2. the indoctrination of the next generation; I hear the craziest leftist nihilistic pro-abortion, pro-mRNA, pro-trans garbage from some of these "providers". Unless you find an old-school doctor with some degree of freedom (personally, which means financially in many cases since states have gone after licenses for not complying during the Biden era), realize you are choosing a whole plethora of bureaucrats when you choose a clinic.
I spoke to the manager of a semi-rural clinic recently and some of her staff had been considering refusing care to people who "wouldn't vaxx" (whatever that means) during the dark days. I told her, that's nice, now do male homosexuals and STD risk. Drug abusers? Shall we refuse medical care to prisoners? Uh huh, right.
Personally I prefer foreign trained dentists. They seem to have a better skill set. My current dentist is Indian as were 2 of my previous dentists. I also got a second opionion from a Pakistani dentist yesterday. He explained the mechanics of my dental needs in clear, unambiguous english.

I don’t understand how a court can block an order to enforce existing law. That judge should face immediate removal by arrest if needed. This whole judicial charade has gone beyond ridiculous. It IS a constitutional crisis and SCOTUS refuses to fix it.

“Look around you,” Grandpa whispered as he gently rested his left hand on my right shoulder, and waved out in front of us with his right. “This is what I see every day now.”
I looked out over rolling emerald hills, towering, snow covered mountains in the distance, and glistening, white-capped waves crashing into the sandy coast. I had never seen so much natural beauty in one glimpse. I thought to take a picture, but I didn’t want to move for fear of losing the moment.
A warm breeze blew my hair softly behind me, and the faint sound of chirping was growing closer. I looked up at Grandpa, watching his face as he undoubtedly recalled the exact species of bird we heard calling–one of his favorite pastimes. I briefly remembered the small Birdwatching Book that used to sit on the end table right next to his recliner in Grandma and Grandpa’s living room. On occasion, I was known to flip through the book, looking at all the pictures of the colorful and exotic birds, wondering how Grandpa could remember them all.
“What kind of bird is it?” I asked quietly, watching as a single bird landed in a tree just a few feet away from us. Its feathers rustled and it let out a few more chirps before sitting still and gazing out upon the landscape.
“A blue dacnis. Isn’t it beautiful?” Grandpa replied, moving his hand from my shoulder and guiding me toward the tree slowly; silently. We stopped just shy of the tree and took in the moment, embracing the nature, the life, the togetherness that it had been so long since we had felt with one another.
I stared up into the tree and noted the beauty of a bird I’d never seen before: striking black and deep blue with feathers that looked as soft as fur. It traveled alone, but seemed at peace in its solitude.
“Where does it come from?” I pressed, thinking how rare a find we must have stumbled upon.
“Lots of places,” Grandpa replied, “Mostly Argentina.”
I noted the curiosity that an Argentinian bird would be here on its own, but then reminded myself of the uncertainty of where “here” really was. I considered asking the question, but was filled with fear of what the answer might be.
I closed my eyes, breathed in, and was overwhelmed by the combination of the fresh air and Grandpa’s cologne–a scent I didn’t realize how much I had missed until this very moment. Time didn’t seem real, and I couldn’t put a finger on just how long it had been since I had last seen him, but I was certain it had been too long.
“So this is where you’ve been,” I stated, reaching out for Grandpa’s hand.
“Yes,” he said simply. “I’ve been getting it ready.”
He said the words as if it should be obvious–obvious that he had been here all this time, obvious that he was preparing, obvious what he was preparing for; but, I still could not understand.
“Ready?”
He smiled and nodded. “Someday, when the time is right, you will join me here. So will Grandma, and your Mom, and your aunt, and your cousins. Someday, we will all be together again, in this place.”
And I suddenly understood. This was our own piece of heaven.
“But I miss you,” I admitted, and for the first time since I’d found myself here, I knew I was frowning. My heart felt as though it was wrenching out of my chest, knowing that someday wouldn’t be soon–that I still had a long life ahead of me without Grandpa. He wouldn’t be at my birthdays, my wedding, wouldn’t get to see me be a mother, and watch my babies grow. I would be missing him. Always.
“I miss you, too,” he stated calmly, “But I’m always with you. Watching. Preparing. Waiting.”
There was a brief moment of silence as I reconciled the truth. What a blessing to see him, hear him, feel his presence; and yet, what a cruelty to know that it was an ethereal experience, and I couldn’t have him back in my life each day. I racked my brain for an answer–for some way to take him home with me, but I knew it was impossible, and that I had no choice but to savor each second I had left with him.
“I’m proud of you,” he beamed, and I knew it was true. He pulled me into his warm embrace and squeezed, “I am so, so proud of you. And one day, we will celebrate your accomplishments and your successes together, here.”
I felt tears welling up in my eyes, knowing this was the start of goodbye.
I squeezed him tightly, and quietly whispered, “I love you, Grandpa.”
“I love you, too, sweetie.”
I found comfort in his words, but the facts remained: I knew that this moment was fleeting–that sooner than later, I would be back on Earth, and he would be here, and there was no way of knowing when I would see him again. The thought made me squeeze him even tighter, as if I could hold him tight enough that the moment would never have to end.
And then it felt as though he disintegrated from the air around me. I was floating downward, through the plains and into the soil, into the clouds, and delicately descended until I felt the softness of my pillow beneath my head.
I hesitated to open my eyes, breathing in and hoping against hope that Grandpa’s cologne would still fill the air. Instead, I smelled bacon cooking a few rooms over, and when I opened my eyes, I could feel the fresh tears on my cheeks.
There are dreams that make you cry because you’re sad, dreams that make you cry because you’re afraid, dreams that make you cry because you’re happy, and dreams that make you cry because you’re loved.
Earth would never be the same without Grandpa, but I was eternally grateful for that brief touch of heaven.
Back when everyone I knew was despondent over Joe "Houseplant" Biden garnering the 'most votes in history', I told people to relax a little because Trump, in getting Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett on the Supreme Court had very long term beneficial implications. We are seeing the results of his appointments bear fruit now.
Can you imagine what nonsense the Court would be issuing if Obama had succeeded in getting the execrable Merrick Garland on the Court? Can you even imagine what the Court would look like if Hillary had made the three choices that Trump got to make? I was at the UoA in Edmonton a few years back, (loooong story that ended up with me having a broken jaw, (which mended itself by itself so still broken, but not) and a perforated ulcer FROM the "free" health care here), laying there one morning looking out the window on the 4th floor. The scenery was a rooftop of a lower floor. I know, totally grand for a soul's well being. Anyhoo, as I lay there, a cobra chicken landed and looked right into the window. Her big beautiful brown eyes looked directly into my now big green eyes directly, lasting well over 30 seconds! It was like we divinely connected with each other and I took it as a God Nod that I was going to be ok.
Her mate landed shortly after and they hung around there for a while, both peeking in randomly, before taking off to go build themselves a temporary home (see what I did there...lol), which they protect - FIERCELY - to death even. Side note: if a mate gets killed, the living mate will never mate with another, that's how loyal they are as well. A nurse came in and before she could plug another IV into my arm, I told her I had guests and to look out the window, which she did. She recoiled back and said, "I hate geese! They scare me!"
I just chuckled, thanked God for showing me He was there with me, and then winced when she jabbed in the IV a little extra hard.
PS - those "angry geese" in your next comment are ALSO defending their kids from those pesky people "attacking" them. I would imagine the Eagles would do the same if some jackass climbed high enough to bother the babies, eh.😉

I had a pet Pekin duck when I was a teenager. She was fully trained and a wonderful companion for a girl who loves animals. I noted that Haitians would be in back of the house, across a small canal and were fishing. This was in South Florida. We saw this in many different areas of the neighborhood. You could hear them speaking Creole. A few days after they started fishing across the narrow canal, my duck was gone. I never saw them come back after that. I had no doubt then and have no doubt now they stole her and ate her. I hope they choked on her bones.

How horrible. I love ducks! Our neighbors out here in the country had some that would come over on our property and swim around in our shallow pond, and I’d see them every day on my walk. Haven’t seen them in weeks, I guess they sold or ate them. Not Haitians, but we’ve been told by other neighbors that they are “strange”.

True Story: In early Summer 2022 - I saw something strange at a hotel in downtown Orlando. The hotel was a place where many Federal Marshalls stayed during regional training. In May, there were about 12-15 very fit, young Haitian men - all under 32 or so- with rolex's and satellite phones - at the hotel bar - just hanging out, working out at the hotel gym - for HOURS. Speaking creole to each other, talking into those satellite phones. Two days later, there were about 25. I asked three of them: "Are you guys here for a ...security conference?" Their fitness levels and satellite phones being the tell. One turned and walked away, one looked at his taller buddy "We're here at the request of the U.S. Government for a few weeks" - positively SMUG. I texted one of the Federal Marshalls I had befriended at the hotel bar in the months prior. I also called Gov Ron DeSantis' office. The next day - the Haitians were GONE. But the Federal Marshall came to talk to me and take a statement. He shared that many in the Marshalls program had switched to DHS. They believe that from 75,000-100,000 Haitian men have been placed in Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Jacksonville. They are all military trained, funded by NGO's - and all are armed ( explains the satellite phones). They also fully believe they are to foment civil wars - and their estimates are that militias are in close to 100 American cities ( not just Haitians, but militias of all stripes: Venezuelan, Chinese, Etc)

I deal with a dentist in western North Carolina. He hired a new assistant about two years ago. She is a licensed dentist and a legal immigrant from Cuba. But the NC board of medical registrations does not recognize out-of-US licensure - for that matter, NC does not even recognize most out-of-STATE licensures. So this woman, who is qualified to perform most any dental service, is limited to employment as a hygienist. If the dentist tasks her otherwise, HE might lose HIS license.
My point with this anecdote? If North Carolina can enforce medical licensure laws, so can any other state that chooses to. Goodbye, TPS-enabled Haitian "doctors" ...
That's right... My father migrated from Cuba and obtained his citizenship here in the US. He was educated in the US at Georgia Tech and was licensed in Cuba, where we lived, as a Structural Engineer. After coming to America he worked as a draftsman for minimum wage until be could take his licensing exams - which he did for Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana.

He is so disgustingly smug, sitting there signing these huge budget bills that are stripping the citizens of Illinois. And blatantly ignores federal laws regarding illegals. I am SO looking forward to that A-hole's arrest and imprisonment.
My Michigan born daughter, now lives in Chicago, in a very nice neighborhood in Lincoln Park that she pays a hefty amount for. She recently told me, she “loves” Pritzker as governor. My jaw nearly fell open to the floor. Talk about naive..Her small town, conservative mom is shaking her head, hoping she grows out of this….she drank the TDS kool aid.

I don’t understand how a court can block an order to enforce existing law. That judge should face immediate removal by arrest if needed. This whole judicial charade has gone beyond ridiculous. It IS a constitutional crisis and SCOTUS refuses to fix it.

Think of how transformed for the better Haiti would be with 300,000 new doctors, lawyers, caregivers, college professors, rocket scientists and engineers who have become successful under America’s largesse. Heck, if even half of them were law enforcement they would be able to bring some semblance of order to that hellhole.

Really noticeable a few months ago in NYC, about every third male (not counting the FOB DoorDash drones from Central America) on the lower East Side looked like him. Same age, rough demography. Lots of Robespierres and Allahu Akhbar just waiting to decloak.

A Brief Touch of Heaven by Stephanie Redieske
“Look around you,” Grandpa whispered as he gently rested his left hand on my right shoulder, and waved out in front of us with his right. “This is what I see every day now.”
I looked out over rolling emerald hills, towering, snow covered mountains in the distance, and glistening, white-capped waves crashing into the sandy coast. I had never seen so much natural beauty in one glimpse. I thought to take a picture, but I didn’t want to move for fear of losing the moment.
A warm breeze blew my hair softly behind me, and the faint sound of chirping was growing closer. I looked up at Grandpa, watching his face as he undoubtedly recalled the exact species of bird we heard calling–one of his favorite pastimes. I briefly remembered the small Birdwatching Book that used to sit on the end table right next to his recliner in Grandma and Grandpa’s living room. On occasion, I was known to flip through the book, looking at all the pictures of the colorful and exotic birds, wondering how Grandpa could remember them all.
“What kind of bird is it?” I asked quietly, watching as a single bird landed in a tree just a few feet away from us. Its feathers rustled and it let out a few more chirps before sitting still and gazing out upon the landscape.
“A blue dacnis. Isn’t it beautiful?” Grandpa replied, moving his hand from my shoulder and guiding me toward the tree slowly; silently. We stopped just shy of the tree and took in the moment, embracing the nature, the life, the togetherness that it had been so long since we had felt with one another.
I stared up into the tree and noted the beauty of a bird I’d never seen before: striking black and deep blue with feathers that looked as soft as fur. It traveled alone, but seemed at peace in its solitude.
“Where does it come from?” I pressed, thinking how rare a find we must have stumbled upon.
“Lots of places,” Grandpa replied, “Mostly Argentina.”
I noted the curiosity that an Argentinian bird would be here on its own, but then reminded myself of the uncertainty of where “here” really was. I considered asking the question, but was filled with fear of what the answer might be.
I closed my eyes, breathed in, and was overwhelmed by the combination of the fresh air and Grandpa’s cologne–a scent I didn’t realize how much I had missed until this very moment. Time didn’t seem real, and I couldn’t put a finger on just how long it had been since I had last seen him, but I was certain it had been too long.
“So this is where you’ve been,” I stated, reaching out for Grandpa’s hand.
“Yes,” he said simply. “I’ve been getting it ready.”
He said the words as if it should be obvious–obvious that he had been here all this time, obvious that he was preparing, obvious what he was preparing for; but, I still could not understand.
“Ready?”
He smiled and nodded. “Someday, when the time is right, you will join me here. So will Grandma, and your Mom, and your aunt, and your cousins. Someday, we will all be together again, in this place.”
And I suddenly understood. This was our own piece of heaven.
“But I miss you,” I admitted, and for the first time since I’d found myself here, I knew I was frowning. My heart felt as though it was wrenching out of my chest, knowing that someday wouldn’t be soon–that I still had a long life ahead of me without Grandpa. He wouldn’t be at my birthdays, my wedding, wouldn’t get to see me be a mother, and watch my babies grow. I would be missing him. Always.
“I miss you, too,” he stated calmly, “But I’m always with you. Watching. Preparing. Waiting.”
There was a brief moment of silence as I reconciled the truth. What a blessing to see him, hear him, feel his presence; and yet, what a cruelty to know that it was an ethereal experience, and I couldn’t have him back in my life each day. I racked my brain for an answer–for some way to take him home with me, but I knew it was impossible, and that I had no choice but to savor each second I had left with him.
“I’m proud of you,” he beamed, and I knew it was true. He pulled me into his warm embrace and squeezed, “I am so, so proud of you. And one day, we will celebrate your accomplishments and your successes together, here.”
I felt tears welling up in my eyes, knowing this was the start of goodbye.
I squeezed him tightly, and quietly whispered, “I love you, Grandpa.”
“I love you, too, sweetie.”
I found comfort in his words, but the facts remained: I knew that this moment was fleeting–that sooner than later, I would be back on Earth, and he would be here, and there was no way of knowing when I would see him again. The thought made me squeeze him even tighter, as if I could hold him tight enough that the moment would never have to end.
And then it felt as though he disintegrated from the air around me. I was floating downward, through the plains and into the soil, into the clouds, and delicately descended until I felt the softness of my pillow beneath my head.
I hesitated to open my eyes, breathing in and hoping against hope that Grandpa’s cologne would still fill the air. Instead, I smelled bacon cooking a few rooms over, and when I opened my eyes, I could feel the fresh tears on my cheeks.
There are dreams that make you cry because you’re sad, dreams that make you cry because you’re afraid, dreams that make you cry because you’re happy, and dreams that make you cry because you’re loved.
Earth would never be the same without Grandpa, but I was eternally grateful for that brief touch of heaven.
So glad I don’t need to put mascara on today. Tri!!!!

Back when everyone I knew was despondent over Joe "Houseplant" Biden garnering the 'most votes in history', I told people to relax a little because Trump, in getting Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett on the Supreme Court had very long term beneficial implications. We are seeing the results of his appointments bear fruit now.
Can you imagine what nonsense the Court would be issuing if Obama had succeeded in getting the execrable Merrick Garland on the Court? Can you even imagine what the Court would look like if Hillary had made the three choices that Trump got to make? Can you imagine the lunacy that would be flowing like sewage from the Court if the majority were made up of people like Sotamayor, Kagan, and Ketanji "I don't know what a woman is" Jackson?
One of the biggest failures of the Senate so far lies in their leaving so many Federal judgeship seats vacant. If the Democrats gain a majority in the Senate in November, you can bet they will fill those seats with their usual brand of lunatics. The Senate is missing a bet in not getting this done asap because as we have seen, a politician will have an impact over the short term, but a Judge is for a lifetime. The Senate HAS to get this done asap!!!

The blue slip process is the problem for Trump in getting the Fed judges in place. It helps both parties and nobody has the gonads to stop it. It's not a law but a courtesy started in 1917. Thune won't change that.
