Words Beyond Me-Janice Powell's avatar

✝️✝️✝️

Let those be ashamed and humiliated altogether who rejoice at my distress;

Let those be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves over me.

Let them shout for joy and rejoice, who favor my vindication;

And let them say continually, β€œThe LORD be magnified,

Who delights in the prosperity of His servant.”

And my tongue shall declare Your righteousness

And Your praise all day long.

β€” Psalm 35:26-28 NAS95

We need some good news! My traditional Lutheran church has seen an upsurge in not only marriages, but baptisms! We are now averaging a couple a month. For a small country church that is so encouraging. I also witnessed young men, (likely in their early twenties), going to communion. This was several, also never seen pre-covid. I prayed for a revival and this makes my heart happy.

Freebird's avatar

We truly rejoice at this news! Our LCMS (the conservative) Lutheran church is also seeing more young families with children. Youth of any age makes our hearts glad. ❀️

Praise arises from humility and humility from our sin nature and need for forgiveness. Jesus’ sacrifice was not required of Him, it was a gift. I praise the One Who has saved me from the pit.

McDonald’s is reportedly going to follow Chick-fil-A and start only offering sodas at the counter and removing auto-fill stations. Taco Bell might take note.

Also, I wonder what Jeff would have to say about another Occupy Wall Street protest. I’m a lifelong conservative GOP voter and had sympathy for that movement. In the wake of β€˜08 crash, only those taking loans were punished, but never a banker who enabled them. Both Bush and Obama gave the banks a free pass. The Uniparty lives on and we get distractions (race, trans, climate, etc) to keep us Occupied with something else.

β€œThe increasing willingness of mainstream Democrats to align with extremist socialist groups is a major factor in why the Democratic Party is losing the center more and more, and why so many lifelong Democrats find themselves feeling politically homeless.” In a nutshell: A vote for democrats is a vote for communism!

Now apply that statement and compare it to the Biden Administration's 4 years of Anti-America. And take it one step further and think where we would be today if President Trump had not been elected (which still amazes me when considering Mr. Dominion & all of his friends). You know as well as I do that it would NOT be a pretty picture had Comrade Kamala & Dufus successfully stolen the show. Which brings me to the final point.

Its just insane, but predictable.

Leftist brains are still convinced that the only way to "progress" in the 21st Century is with a utopian ideology from the 19th Century that was resoundingly disproven in the 20th Century.

There is no limiting principle with progressivism. There is "no that'll never happen". It's a relentless one-way ratchet and every win they achieve is just a stepping stone to their next objective, over and over again, forever.

Ten years ago the DSA was a radical fringe that nobody really thought would achieve major power. Now the entire Democrat party is realigning themselves around it.

Socialism is a paradox:

Socialism requires that the poor exist. They promise to help them. But if they truly help them, they would stop being poor.

And without the poor, Socialism is n no longer "needed".

Well, since having been introduced to the extremist world of religious fundamentalism on this Substack, I would say that the TDS/WOKE-folk are similar in extremism to the far-rightwing religious groups. Neither extreme is a good place to be.

Something else they have in common is that people at both extremes believe they they are hyper-GOOD. That is how each side sees themselves -- as very righteous.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

Instead of just throwing the charge out there without a shred of evidence, how about proving your theory that "far right wing religious groups are extreme" Please explain to me how valuing the life of unborn innocents is extreme and evil, or upholding the ten commandments as a good model for how to lead a good life is extreme and evil, or committing to a monogamous relationship for life and growing, healthy, happy children (who understand there are only two genders, male and female, dont want to lop off their genitals to please some deeply ill/evil schemers to destroy humanity and also don't expect "the collective" to support them) into good adults who can successfully function in society, instead of blaming society for their problems is extreme and bad. The "woke folks" are diametrically opposed to functioning society built on functioning families.

But I ask you, please tell me what is extreme or wrong about "far right wing religious groups". Where are they wrong, what are they doing which is so horrible? Are you conflating Muslim religious extremism with the Christian "extremism" I've laid out above?

Only someone suffering from TDS and being "woke" could compare the two and find them comparable.

mspring's avatar

And don't forget the contrast between left and right in gun violence. I can't remember the last time a bonafied conservative Christian has shot anybody up, vs the constant reports of leftists doing it.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

Oh and the left will conflate our right to defend ourselves with their use of guns to tear apart society. You are right.

Dave's avatar

If you knew about the Christian faith, you’d understand that most have recognized their sinful nature, have been horrified by this realization and have received salvation and a solution to their dilemma before a Righteous God in the person of a living Jesus Christ. It is simple enough, the first step is to admit your propensity for evil (before God).

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

Im a practicing Christian, I understand the faith well, confess my sins if I commit one, strive to do better, have done better over the course of my life. to say I am sinful by nature is complete bullshit - to say I have the ability to choose between right and wrong is far more accurate.

What is your point and what does it have to do with "A"s stupendously ridiculous comparison of left work dehumanization extremism vs "far right Christian extremism" post?

Lisa Runquist's avatar

I would have said that your position is not far right but is mostly mainstream, altho to the right of the middle. Far rigjt id Tucker Carlson et al.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

"A" said religious fundamentalists are the extremist far right without taking even a second to define what exactly a religious right wing fundamentalist is. So, I defined religious fundamentalist for it, him, her, they, xi, dolphin person, etc.

I've been told that being pro-life is a far right fundamentalist position as an example.

James D Teel II's avatar

People like β€œA” throw out false comparisons in order to justify their own wrongs.

BelleTower's avatar

β€œFar right extremism” is only a call for the values that grew us to a point of prosperity where we could afford to dalliance into extreme left nonsense. β€œFar right” is not far at all. It is certainly not β€œextreme”. It is only an acknowledgement of biological reality and alliance with the social sciences before they were used to call for the murder of unhappy people or people (babies) with the potential to be unhappy. The label β€œfar right extremism” is only an offense-is-best-defense weapon rolled out by the left which is calling for unheard of things outside the history of fascist regimes. β€œSomewhere in the middle” is the smug language of a person who lacks traditional values and also the courage to go outright insane with the left.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

Extremely well said, thanks BelleTower.

A.'s avatar

I disagree, BT. I grew up in moderate, balanced Christianity and civil society. In Canada, actually. As a traditional Catholic.

We were exceedingly civil and polite. We were very well-educated in the traditional manner. It was not until the Troodo horror hit this country that anything changed from this approach.

Canada has few religious fundamentalists in the "Christian" vein. I only encounter them in the U.S.

On this Substack forum they are rampant. And their odd behaviour has nothing to do with the behaviour and Christian values I was raised on. They are far more similar to the WOKE or to other cultists than to balanced Christians

BelleTower's avatar

Jesus was not β€œbalanced”, not at all! He spoke truth with love.

A.'s avatar

So you think that "balanced" means a lack of truth and love? You are mis-understanding this.

Jesus Christ was probably the most balanced human being to have walked the earth. You should take cues from him. I cannot see Jesus screeching judgmentally at others the way most of the extremist religious types here do. He would be ashamed of you.

BelleTower's avatar

I might argue that your polite and non offensive brand of Christianity is how we ended up with 55 year old bearded men insisting on toileting with schoolgirls. I condemn is both … I was of this β€œpolite” non confrontational breed as well. I stood by for years, dismissing my conscience and discomfort in favor of β€œgetting along”. I called it β€œminding my own business” but what I was doing was creating a permission structure for everything that plagues us now. I’d say my experience is representative of most Christians. We played right into their hands until they started coming for our children with their trans story hours and x rated comic books. I don’t mind standing up now. I see how I can either stand up or lie down, there is no fence sitting in a day and age like this.

A.'s avatar

BT, why do you continually assume you know me? When you get it wrong every time. I have never been leftwing. Or rightwing. Always Centrist. Not even a feminist.

I am not WOKE. Nor am I a religious fundamentalist.

Why can't you grasp the idea that there is a whole lot of possibility between far-leftwing-ism and far-rightwing-ism? You seem to be convinced that those are the only ways you can be.

Nonsense! Their extremisn and your extremism are far more alike to one another than being a balanced Centrist type is to either of you.

A.'s avatar

I might get a lot of Scripture quotes and little praying-hand emojis in response to that one. But I have blocked a number of the very extremist types here....which provides some relief.

It’s incredible the fallen world starts at the top, in our government. I’ll never forget Kamala bailing out criminals. Off topic but Warren is my senator.

These Liars and Frauds. That sums up the democrat party. From their feeble dementia riddled president who they all swore was sharp as a tack and running circles around everyone, to the fraudulent Chief, Elizabeth Warren, who stole jobs from actual American Indians and minorities, to Secretary of β€œTrans”portation, Pete Buttigieg, who took 3 months off so HE could breastfeed HIS new adopted child, what a GUY!

Of coarse Elizabeth Warren took a short position with Spirit Airlines just before the merger with Jet Blue knowing the merger would fail, making a fortune when the merger was tossed. Recently she sold off the stocks she had knowing the airline was going belly up. The greed was just too much for the scumbag, produce nothing, democrats to allow the merger. BTW she was the senator that headed up the campaign to squash the merger with Jet Blue saying it was creating a monopoly among the discount airlines, how utterly idiotic and corrupt. She has done nothing for Massachusetts, nothing except hurt the people that live here.

You must know that Merrick Garland was also all in on stopping the merger which inevitably forced Spirit to close its doors. I’m sure he made boatloads of money as well as the dirtiest of all Nancy the Disgusting Pig Pelosi.

Really happy the war is declared to be over, but a lot of us β€œsubjects” struggle, daily trying to figure out how to pay the bills, while they live in their mansions. It’s gotten so bad at my house we’re trying to figure out what vehicle to sell to pay another outrageous number of monthly bills. We have both had a lifetime of working our asses off to the point our bodies are broken, while we watch these scumbag corrupt politicians get exorbitantly wealthy, as my family sinks.

Now not only the 14,000 Spirit jobs are gone but add to that another 30-40 thousand jobs that supported that airline. I’d say all the extra money Chief Spreading Bull made would help to pay off the massive wall around her mansion but that was completed long ago, just around the time she was killing the border wall, incredible. These stupid Massachusetts voters, many of them illegal aliens, I’m sure will vote the democrat back in, many of them are on the take themselves. J.Goodrich

And then throw in all the illegal immigrants who were let into the country, were registered to vote as part of their illegal entrance, to replace American citizens.

Can anyone please explain to me why government gets to run our elections and inform us of their "results"?

Lisa Ricketts's avatar

Well Dan, I for one think the cycle begins with Government Schools! As long as we allow the Government to educate our future voters' the bureaucrat underlings and staffers of the Congress will continue to run the Government with help from the Lobbiests.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

I don't disagree, but it is bigger than that. The barrage of leftist bullshit through every type of media and from leftist billionaires like deeply evil soros, gates, zuckerburg, etc who stole their wealth or was given it by our government -through the appropriations of our tax money is equally responsible or was given it by parents who earned it (but they never earned a penny themselves).

CL Shoemake's avatar

I also have thought this, Lisa!! Government schools. That is precisely what they are. And the Teachers Unions are for the most part, vile, left leaning, and seem to do little to nothing to better educate our kids, but routinely donate big bucks to those left leaning organizations. It’s disgusting. So thankful the horrific overreach of the Covid debacle, caused a fair number of parents to Wake Up to what was really going on in their kids’ schools and how poorly the kids were doing overall.

Johnny-O's avatar

You just highlighted why Trump has doomed the GOP. Main street is really hurting. Most middle and lower middle class families don't hold stocks other than being vested in a 401k. The needless Iran actions are going to hurt the working class for months, likely years. Kuwait shipped no oil during the month of April. If things escalate again, Iran may hit additional gulf oil infrastructure, which some analysts contend could take a decade to recover from.

While your family and most others struggle to make ends meet, our AIPAC bought and paid for politicians will vote to send billions more to Israel this year, and maybe even a $1.5 trillion dollar military package. Utter insanity.

Lisa Ricketts's avatar

Main Street is hurt by Local and State taxes, fees and policies far more than it is hurt by Federal Spending. If we look at California, very much like Massachusetts in so far a Governance, we see that the number and amount of taxes, fees and added costs due to ridiculous mandates (high-density housing, High-Speed Rail, Homeless projects, needle dispersal, et cetera) add up to a major squeeze on the middle class that makes too much in earnings to qualify as a pet of the Democrats, yet not enough to "feel" that they can invest in their own future. The truth is that anyone can invest in the market, if they have the ability to research funds and the personal discipline to forgo the easy "grab and go" temptations in favor of allocating a small amount to mutual funds.

Somehow during the Plandemic, many of us were able to make our own coffee, go without haircuts, restaurant meals of any kind, vacations, clothes chopping, Sporting events, new furniture, et cetera. It is often our own mindset that tells us we cannot achieve something therefore we do not even do the basic research, but just spout the lines that others' wrote for us.

Johnny-O's avatar

Our debt is out of control, and is making the dollar weaker, which means main street has less buying power - it certainly does impact main street.

Most people in our country live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford an unexpected $400 expense (which isn't much these days) - how can anyone falling in this category afford to "invest?" They can't even afford to invest in a home for themselves, let alone the stock market or mutual funds.

While I agree people in general could be more frugal, I see a lot of families who already are, and are still scrapping by. It's only going to get worse with oil prices increasing the cost of everything for months or years to come.

Main street Democrat socialists complain about everything all the time.

You pay attention to those that cry "wolf" daily if you want.

They're the ones that are now up to number 13 Covid injections. It's no wonder they are crying the blues, they're killing themselves and blaming everyone else.

Boo Hoo!

So sorry to hear how hard it is being, JG. I pray for blessings on you.

It's interesting how the trolls all show up first in the comments. "The war is lost" "Israel and the Jews are the real problem". See how they latch on to a spectacularly popular stack featuring optimism and encouragement to spew their garbage, hoping to snag a few devotees for their stacks. Parasites by definition.

Juju's avatar

Amazing. I don’t see a single one of them today 😊 My block function is golden

I had to check to see if I’d missed comments and you reminded me that I had blocked a LOT last week. What a wonderful read this morning in comments without β€œthem.”

They cannot rob this community of its celebratory joy and energy. Not while we have the power to preserve it.

Sounds wonderful. Do you have a link or directions on how to block individual comments? I tried a search but found very little information. Thanks in advance!

RunningLogic's avatar

I’m not sure if you can block individual comments but you can block a commenter and hence all of his/her comments. Just click on their user name, you should see three dots at the top right on their account, click on that and you should see several options, including β€œblock.”

Juju's avatar

Tap on their avatar. On their profile page there should be three dots upper right. From that menu you can block

The block function is genius.

nancy barker's avatar

How do I block someone, please?

Dolce Far Niente's avatar

Click on a poster's name in their comment; this takes you to their page. On the right top, you will see the 3 dot menu button. Click that and "Block"will become visible.

It's a delightful feature.

If you prefer mindless tribalism and cheerleading for our public servants who serve the ruling class.....you would call others with differing opinions trolls or bots. Maybe instead you could try to engage rather than just name call? Going around just calling others names seems much more like trolling than does sharing one's opinions.

I continue to be baffled by those that require laughs and misleading "optimism" in the face of the ship is that going down but hey, the band is still playing ( and the comedians are still try to wring some laughs from destructive choices that Trump makes). So very weird. Something happened to Trump's brain and the evil people that surround him feed it willingly. He seems so compromised now and totally controlled.

Johnny-O's avatar

Yes, thinking about all the campaign rhetoric around foreign conflicts, MAHA, prosperity at home....it all seems like a dreamworld. It is hard not to wonder if Mossad has some serious dirt on Trump, or if he really is just an insane zionist after all?

PonyBoy's avatar

"If you prefer mindless tribalism and cheerleading for our public servants who serve the ruling class..."

Do you mean like the "liberals"

did for the 4 years Cabbage Head "auto-penned" his way through Washington D.C.?

RunningLogic's avatar

Plus they are so boring since they always say pretty much the same exact things every day, not to mention being pessimistic and nasty. I finally decided I was done trying to accommodate and listen to them. I can get more rational, thoughtful and nuanced opinions elsewhere and from other people.

Dolce Far Niente's avatar

Fortunately, substack has the block feature, which removes these boring one-note propagandists from my view.

Since I would almost always scroll past the retards, anyway, this makes my daily consumption of Jeff's offerings quicker, tidier and much more pleasant.

RunningLogic's avatar

Yes I’m very glad I finally decided to take advantage of that useful feature 😁

All have TDS... and we should all continue to worship Orange "Bone-spurs" Caligula and his Court Jester Little Petey Hegseth for their unprovoked and illegal War (in direct violation of our Constitution, existing statutes and International Maritime Law).

The corrupt cowardly neocon scum of congress get special mention too... eh?

I prefer apartmented! Does anyone truly believe that a unhoused person, living on the streets or in a vehicle is suddenly going to become a actual homeowner? Or magically have the income to rent an entire house? I guess, it might be possible if all the taxpayer dollars that funneled through the NGO's earmarked for the un-apartmented actually... no, shelve that idea because this is the real world and not La La Land. People make a million little choices that result in their current status. Until people become mindful that they alone choose their circumstances, much like the Taco Bell employee and the non-customer, each chose their 2am antics, they will continue to be looked at as useful ignorant idiots for those wishing to control and further a narrative that feeds into their end game.

Choose wisely folks!

Jeff, I hope you don't mind a comment on Sunday's post. I know this borders on blog crime!

I'm not a subscriber (sorry the price is a bit steep for me...as much as I love your blog) but the headline about arrested Mexican officials got me curious and I searched it.

I then learned that two CIA officers were killed in Mexico (or died?) in mid April. For those in Portland, mid-April was just a couple weeks ago. Nothing in the MSM about this! Here's the story that I put together with help from my AI:

--The DOJ indicted 10 sitting and former Mexican officials on April 29, 2026, including Sinaloa's governor, for running a cartel protection racket in exchange for bribes.

--Both the governor and CuliacΓ‘n's mayor temporarily stepped down β€” inadvertently stripping themselves of their legal immunity under Mexican law.

--Mexico's President Sheinbaum refused extradition, insisting any prosecution would happen in Mexico, not Washington.

--Ten days earlier, two CIA officers died in a vehicle crash in Chihuahua's mountains after an unauthorized counternarcotics operation β€” their deaths are the direct trigger for the indictments.

--Whether the crash was an accident or something more deliberate remains publicly unanswered by either government.

Trump 2.0 continues to be able to handle 186 different issues at once! Amazing!

My first job in 1971 was at a fast food joint which shall remain nameless. I ponder what direction my working life would have taken if I could have pistol-whipped difficult patrons. (Not to brag, but my gun has never discharged when pistol-whipping, as I'm fastidious about trigger discipline.)

steven t koenig's avatar

I just don't abuse my guns by using them as clubs. Always carry around a baseball bat for your Taco Bell outings. That's my motto.

"They can find all the Nazi-tattooed, bearded white guys they want, but if socialism is the main selling point, it’s going to be a difficult sale."

No, the sale will not be difficult because the Dem Party isn't the only salesman. The MSM will be selling this hard. And when we win the midterms, one of Trump's first Exec Orders should be to revoke the broadcast licenses of ABC, NBC and maybe CBS. Although if CBS bucks the trend, the message would be even better by NOT revoking their license.

Not sure what Trump can do about MSNBC, CNN and the other cable news outfits...but I'm sure the Feds have leverage because thanks to 50+ years of Dems and RINOs constantly expanding the size of the Fed Govt...the Feds have leverage over EVERYTHING!

Valoree Dowell's avatar

A tip about the MSM. Turn them all off. The only thing you'll miss is the phase "...will hurt Trump/republicans in the midterms..." following every report, whether the info is accurate or opined.

RunningLogic's avatar

I haven’t watched or listened to them in decades.

RunningLogic's avatar

And too many people love β€œfree stuff” πŸ˜•

Lisa Ricketts's avatar

Actually, the only people who watch the MSM are dying off now. The generation we need to worry about does not get their indoctrination from the Dinosaur Media, they get it from bots and Podcasts, Instagram, Reddit and numerous other sources that seem to change and multiply monthly. The instigators'' who creating such a gullible and unlearned generation of sponges are our very own Government schools. I watched it happening to my children in the 2010's and did my best to counter act the Socialist, sexualized, world that the hip young Middle School teachers were dangling in their adolescent path, in the name of "tolerance".

Thankfully, my children, now adults, came to realized how empty and intolerant that lifestyle model actually is. Each generation seeks independence from the previous to some extent, and if not brainwashed and broken in the process, is capable of finding a sane place to land, that they can call their own and get on with the business of living.
