We need some good news! My traditional Lutheran church has seen an upsurge in not only marriages, but baptisms! We are now averaging a couple a month. For a small country church that is so encouraging. I also witnessed young men, (likely in their early twenties), going to communion. This was several, also never seen pre-covid. I prayed for a revival and this makes my heart happy.
We truly rejoice at this news! Our LCMS (the conservative) Lutheran church is also seeing more young families with children. Youth of any age makes our hearts glad. ❤️

Neither is running up the national debt to over 100% of GDP, where it now sits. Highest level vs. GDP since WW2. This results in fiat currency depreciation and structural inflationary pressure. I.e. when debt is high, government borrowing competes with private investment, leading to higher interest rates. Crowding out like this reduces productivity growth, which can worsen inflationary pressure, over time. And we’ve been in this zone since US national debt was 85% ratio to GDP back in 2010-2011. The Uniparty is incapable of reigning in spending in any meaningful way.
But, you never truly own your home as you are held hostage as a perpetual renter due to property taxes. When they can take your paid for home because taxes can’t be paid, you have a real problem. Too much taxation everywhere.
That’s a somewhat weak rebuttal, for most home owners, IMO. Unless you haven’t saved much, most can manage property taxes. Suggest people think long and hard about where they retire, and how the local taxation winds are blowing. That said, some blue zone property taxes have really increased rapidly. Mine have for sure, in my purple locality, in a deep blue state. I’m unsure if I’ll retire here. Some HOA fees have also really spiked too, which can be subject to whims of that particular board.

I just replaced my 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a *newer* 99 Dodge Dakota. Oddly, the Jeep had a CD player in the dash (non-functional, unfortunately), but the Dakota has a cassette player! Well, the door seals on the Jeep started leaking, unfortunately, which then corrupted some of the wiring, which has made the electrical system totally unreliable. The engine still runs! Going to donate it.

You should go watch Tucker’s latest interview with The New York Times. Often when anyone’s personality changes so dramatically the expert recommendation is a medical checkup. Could be - but anytime Tucker gets a hint of our involvement in war he goes completely isolationist; not bothering losing any critical thinking skills he may have had. In addition he’s become quite the manipulative liar. I once was his biggest fan, but since Charlie Kirk’s assassination he’s gone left, repeating leftist propaganda. Just because you don’t agree with Tucker about Iran war doesn’t mean he’s incorrect on all other subjects and in need of medical help. I’ve enjoyed many of his past good interviews. But he’s not the same person imo. In an interview he questions whether Trump is the Antichrist. In another he says both that Israel controls Trump and also that Trump casts a spell on people so he can control them. Which one is it? I have no problem with disagreement on the war or any other policy. But Tucker is a liar.
I think TC got a glimpse of Israel’s influence on US policy when Ted Cruz called him an anti-semite during the interview—Tucker was asking questions Ted Cruz did not like, (AIPAC money). That exchange drove Tucker toward more exploration/research and he gave voice to what he discovered.
I think it’s the other way around. Tucker knew going into the interview that Cruz wore a NASCAR jacket with only one patch all over it: AIPAC. And questioned Ted’s loyalty to the American 1st project. One thing for sure that came out of that interview, and it’s that Ted Cruz will never occupy the White House nor a seat on SCOTUS. Canada has few religious fundamentalists in the "Christian" vein. I only encounter them in the U.S.

Really happy the war is declared to be over, but a lot of us “subjects” struggle, daily trying to figure out how to pay the bills, while they live in their mansions. I know first hand all about the protectionist, Teachers' Union and how they choose lazy but loyal staff over the welfare of children! I first experienced it as a young Teachers Aide, when I was expected to take up the slack left by other Aides while they sat on their largest muscle and gabbed with others while on the clock, and threatened to keep quiet while they played favorites with particular children.
As a Teacher, I got pushback for going the extra mile and requiring that aides in my class focus on the children rather than their date Saturday night. As a parent I reported an abusive teacher to the Principal, only to later learn that the two were close friends, which was likely why the Principal requested that I not put my complaint in writing! I did of course. When our son was in grade 3, he would come home daily with the latest updates on his teachers backyard relandscaping project. it turns out she was on her cell multiple times per day managing contractors. Then came her son's wedding preparations (to be held in newly renovated yard). One parent pulled her daughter from the class sighting neglect by the teacher and we ended up having our son repeat the year, this time with a more child focused teacher, as did another parent. The office claimed they could not remove the teacher due to the Union.
We the taxpayers and our children should have more say or the right to shop for a child-based school, and the right to take our pupils dollar allotment with us!
The California Teacher's Union wields all the power over the government in California. They get their paws on an unbelievable amount of money and pretend to be working for the education of CA students, but in reality they do absolutely nothing of value for anyone but themselves. Their union dues go to backing Democrat extremist candidates, but they never ask their union members what they want. They created a silly radio ad about bullying and have probably spent millions on this ad, which has been running unchanged for a number of years now. Ond ad and that's it. Never a word about mental issues with the kids, their lower than low reading and math scores, no special programs or anything of merit for teachers or students. My daughter is a 6th grade teacher and she refused to sign up for the union because they are worse than useless.

Main Street is hurt by Local and State taxes, fees and policies far more than it is hurt by Federal Spending. If we look at California, very much like Massachusetts in so far a Governance, we see that the number and amount of taxes, fees and added costs due to ridiculous mandates (high-density housing, High-Speed Rail, Homeless projects, needle dispersal, et cetera) add up to a major squeeze on the middle class that makes too much in earnings to qualify as a pet of the Democrats, yet not enough to "feel" that they can invest in their own future. The truth is that anyone can invest in the market, if they have the ability to research funds and the personal discipline to forgo the easy "grab and go" temptations in favor of allocating a small amount to mutual funds.
Somehow during the Plandemic, many of us were able to make our own coffee, go without haircuts, restaurant meals of any kind, vacations, clothes chopping, Sporting events, new furniture, et cetera. It is often our own mindset that tells us we cannot achieve something therefore we do not even do the basic research, but just spout the lines that others' wrote for us.
Our debt is out of control, and is making the dollar weaker, which means main street has less buying power - it certainly does impact main street.
Most people in our country live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford an unexpected $400 expense (which isn't much these days) - how can anyone falling in this category afford to "invest?" They can't even afford to invest in a home for themselves, let alone the stock market or mutual funds.
While I agree people in general could be more frugal, I see a lot of families who already are, and are still scrapping by. It's only going to get worse with oil prices increasing the cost of everything for months or years to come.

I think possibly the United Arab Emirates leaving OPEC could possibly be a good thing. OPEC has influenced oil prices for decades, and not for the better. Even though the U.S. doesn't get a lot of oil for the Middle East, our prices don't go down as they should because of OPEC and its constraints with pricing of all OPEC members. I hope the U.S. gets out of OPEC too.

I’m not sure if you can block individual comments but you can block a commenter and hence all of his/her comments. Just click on their user name, you should see three dots at the top right on their account, click on that and you should see several options, including “block.”
The only commenters I’ve ever blocked were name callers. To block people for their beliefs or arguments that are different than yours, makes a mockery of ‘sticks & stones’ adage.
That’s not the people we are blocking 🙄 As a matter of fact I hold different opinions from a lot of people here that I never blocked.

We need some good news! My traditional Lutheran church has seen an upsurge in not only marriages, but baptisms! We are now averaging a couple a month. For a small country church that is so encouraging. I also witnessed young men, (likely in their early twenties), going to communion. This was several, also never seen pre-covid. I prayed for a revival and this makes my heart happy.
We truly rejoice at this news! Our LCMS (the conservative) Lutheran church is also seeing more young families with children. Youth of any age makes our hearts glad. ❤️

Neither is running up the national debt to over 100% of GDP, where it now sits. Highest level vs. GDP since WW2. This results in fiat currency depreciation and structural inflationary pressure. I.e. when debt is high, government borrowing competes with private investment, leading to higher interest rates. Crowding out like this reduces productivity growth, which can worsen inflationary pressure, over time. And we’ve been in this zone since US national debt was 85% ratio to GDP back in 2010-2011. The Uniparty is incapable of reigning in spending in any meaningful way.
But, you never truly own your home as you are held hostage as a perpetual renter due to property taxes. When they can take your paid for home because taxes can’t be paid, you have a real problem. Too much taxation everywhere.
That’s a somewhat weak rebuttal, for most home owners, IMO. Unless you haven’t saved much, most can manage property taxes. Suggest people think long and hard about where they retire, and how the local taxation winds are blowing. That said, some blue zone property taxes have really increased rapidly. Mine have for sure, in my purple locality, in a deep blue state. I’m unsure if I’ll retire here. Some HOA fees have also really spiked too, which can be subject to whims of that particular board.

You should go watch Tucker’s latest interview with The New York Times. We were exceedingly civil and polite. We were very well-educated in the traditional manner. It was not until the Troodo horror hit this country that anything changed from this approach.
Canada has few religious fundamentalists in the "Christian" vein. I only encounter them in the U.S.

I might argue that your polite and non offensive brand of Christianity is how we ended up with 55 year old bearded men insisting on toileting with schoolgirls. I have found using the combination of keys "CTRL" and F5 and or reopening in another window to be successful in fixing these anomalies.

I know first hand all about the protectionist, Teachers' Union and how they choose lazy but loyal staff over the welfare of children! I first experienced it as a young Teachers Aide, when I was expected to take up the slack left by other Aides while they sat on their largest muscle and gabbed with others while on the clock, and threatened to keep quiet while they played favorites with particular children.
As a Teacher, I got pushback for going the extra mile and requiring that aides in my class focus on the children rather than their date Saturday night. As a parent I reported an abusive teacher to the Principal, only to later learn that the two were close friends, which was likely why the Principal requested that I not put my complaint in writing! I did of course. When our son was in grade 3, he would come home daily with the latest updates on his teachers backyard relandscaping project. it turns out she was on her cell multiple times per day managing contractors. Then came her son's wedding preparations (to be held in newly renovated yard). One parent pulled her daughter from the class sighting neglect by the teacher and we ended up having our son repeat the year, this time with a more child focused teacher, as did another parent. The office claimed they could not remove the teacher due to the Union.
We the taxpayers and our children should have more say or the right to shop for a child-based school, and the right to take our pupils dollar allotment with us!
The California Teacher's Union wields all the power over the government in California. They get their paws on an unbelievable amount of money and pretend to be working for the education of CA students, but in reality they do absolutely nothing of value for anyone but themselves. Their union dues go to backing Democrat extremist candidates, but they never ask their union members what they want. They created a silly radio ad about bullying and have probably spent millions on this ad, which has been running unchanged for a number of years now. Ond ad and that's it. Never a word about mental issues with the kids, their lower than low reading and math scores, no special programs or anything of merit for teachers or students. My daughter is a 6th grade teacher and she refused to sign up for the union because they are worse than useless.

Main Street is hurt by Local and State taxes, fees and policies far more than it is hurt by Federal Spending. If we look at California, very much like Massachusetts in so far a Governance, we see that the number and amount of taxes, fees and added costs due to ridiculous mandates (high-density housing, High-Speed Rail, Homeless projects, needle dispersal, et cetera) add up to a major squeeze on the middle class that makes too much in earnings to qualify as a pet of the Democrats, yet not enough to "feel" that they can invest in their own future. The truth is that anyone can invest in the market, if they have the ability to research funds and the personal discipline to forgo the easy "grab and go" temptations in favor of allocating a small amount to mutual funds.
Somehow during the Plandemic, many of us were able to make our own coffee, go without haircuts, restaurant meals of any kind, vacations, clothes chopping, Sporting events, new furniture, et cetera. It is often our own mindset that tells us we cannot achieve something therefore we do not even do the basic research, but just spout the lines that others' wrote for us.
Our debt is out of control, and is making the dollar weaker, which means main street has less buying power - it certainly does impact main street.
Most people in our country live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford an unexpected $400 expense (which isn't much these days) - how can anyone falling in this category afford to "invest?" They can't even afford to invest in a home for themselves, let alone the stock market or mutual funds.
While I agree people in general could be more frugal, I see a lot of families who already are, and are still scrapping by. It's only going to get worse with oil prices increasing the cost of everything for months or years to come.
The Oil oligarchy just suffered a major blow when the they lost the United Arab Emmerants. The new alignment is in the process. Perhaps you are too young to remember gas rationing in the 1970's. I guess people will need to rethink their budget priorities mush like we did when we retired in the Biden Economy of high gas prices, high egg prices and no SSI funding to come for another year and a quarter. We set a budget and stuck to it. Thankfully, we always lived frugally and what we didn't spend on entertainment, and other nonessentials, we invested in our future, therefore, we could tap into a few dividend checks to ease the transition, because even a check for $19.47 is helpful.
I think possibly the United Arab Emirates leaving OPEC could possibly be a good thing. OPEC has influenced oil prices for decades, and not for the better. Even though the U.S. doesn't get a lot of oil for the Middle East, our prices don't go down as they should because of OPEC and its constraints with pricing of all OPEC members. I hope the U.S. gets out of OPEC too.

I’m not sure if you can block individual comments but you can block a commenter and hence all of his/her comments. Just click on their user name, you should see three dots at the top right on their account, click on that and you should see several options, including “block.”

I then learned that two CIA officers were killed in Mexico (or died?) in mid April. For those in Portland, mid-April was just a couple weeks ago. Nothing in the MSM about this! Here's the story that I put together with help from my AI:
--The DOJ indicted 10 sitting and former Mexican officials on April 29, 2026, including Sinaloa's governor, for running a cartel protection racket in exchange for bribes.
--Both the governor and Culiacán's mayor temporarily stepped down — inadvertently stripping themselves of their legal immunity under Mexican law.
--Mexico's President Sheinbaum refused extradition, insisting any prosecution would happen in Mexico, not Washington.
--Ten days earlier, two CIA officers died in a vehicle crash in Chihuahua's mountains after an unauthorized counternarcotics operation — their deaths are the direct trigger for the indictments.
--Whether the crash was an accident or something more deliberate remains publicly unanswered by either government.

It was another world for me as a decidedly not-rich Canadian there on scholarship. It was also an amazing education. While you were attending University under the watch of government sharp shooters, I was, for a short period of time, followed to school by a Secret Service detail assigned to the safety of my BF's cousin who magically appeared in the middle of the night in 1974. Not sure what Trump can do about MSNBC, CNN and the other cable news outfits...but I'm sure the Feds have leverage because thanks to 50+ years of Dems and RINOs constantly expanding the size of the Fed Govt...the Feds have leverage over EVERYTHING!
A tip about the MSM. Turn them all off. The only thing you'll miss is the phase "...will hurt Trump/republicans in the midterms..." following every report, whether the info is accurate or opined.
I haven’t watched or listened to them in decades.

Actually, the only people who watch the MSM are dying off now. The generation we need to worry about does not get their indoctrination from the Dinosaur Media, they get it from bots and Podcasts, Instagram, Reddit and numerous other sources that seem to change and multiply monthly. The instigators'' who creating such a gullible and unlearned generation of sponges are our very own Government schools. I watched it happening to my children in the 2010's and did my best to counter act the Socialist, sexualized, world that the hip young Middle School teachers were dangling in their adolescent path, in the name of "tolerance".
Thankfully, my children, now adults, came to realized how empty and intolerant that lifestyle model actually is. Each generation seeks independence from the previous to some extent, and if not brainwashed and broken in the process, is capable of finding a sane place to land, that they can call their own and get on with the business of living.
