I think protection is already in place. Immunity is removed if a president is impeached, tried and convicted BY CONGRESS. That isn’t what was done to Trump. He was never tried and convicted by Congress. Therefore Presidential Immunity should apply to Trump. We’ll see what SCOTUS rules.
That’s what I think too. Impeachment was the founders idea to hold a president accountable. If convicted by the senate he can be charged. If not it’s over.

I'd super appreciate that. I lean towards total immunity but what if he went bonkers and actually, i don't know, murdered someone?
