Well put. I take comfort in knowing that the people I deal with every day (friends, coworkers, church acquaintances, etc.) are decent people just trying to do the best for their families and themselves. The sociopaths running things and their brownshirt thugs aren't representative of the population. In fact if it wasn't for the internet I wouldn't know they existed as I never see them in my day to day activities.

But we are fortunate that we live in a bubble to some extent that we've created through God's grace and some good decisions. We don't see street crime or racial tensions. We aren't in debt up to our eyeballs. We aren't permanent clients of the medical industry. We attend a very diverse biblical church pretty equally split between blacks, whites, hispanics, and asians and people couldn't be kinder to each other. I'm as white as Wonder Bread as they say and my best buddy from church is a black guy. We are all God's children and enjoy praising God together.

The problem for many is that you need to have some money and much wisdom to isolate yourself from America's pathologies. The prevailing culture tells people to be self-destructive, divisive, and hateful towards others. The beauty of it though, is that if you follow God's Word you will gain wisdom. And as you gain wisdom, you'll make some money. Not from stealing from people, but from being productive and a good coworker.

Once you get to that point you can shield your family and yourself from much of the ugliness, and take comfort in what this country still offers. But you have to understand that virtually everything the government, media, news, and advertising says is a lie meant to enslave you. Tune it out and seek wisdom in God's Word.

I realized a long time ago that my job as a husband and father was to honor God, create stability and remove chaos from my home.

That was the best thing I could do to fight Satan for my little ones.

They're all grown now, and I still remind them of that same mission.

Thank you for pointing out the only source of truth and righteousness which is God’s Word. We need to keep our eyes focused on the Bible and what God has said and done. He’s the Creator and has made Himself known to us through His Word. He has a plan that will prevail; He will never fail us.

For now, yes, thank God this is largely true.

I remember, however, growing up hearing stories about Christians in the USSR. Insulation was no longer possible for them. They lived in poverty, under constant threat of having their kids removed, often the pastor husbands were taken away to work camps in Siberia. It was quite awful.
