Agree that one cup is probably fine and it does have lots of phytonutrients. But remember how ten years ago they were telling us that alcohol was good for us in moderation (particularly red wine), and light drinkers were supposedly healthier than non-drinkers. Surprise, surprise, it was a total lie and the studies had been funded by the booze industry.
For those saying they aren't addicted, try stopping for a few days and let me know how you feel. If you have headaches (which you almost certainly will if you drink 4/5 cups a day) then you are suffering physical drug withdrawal symptoms.
I drink 3-4 cups a day and freely admit I'm addicted as I definitely feel miserable if I stop. However, it's not mind altering and doesn't cause me any problems beyond coffee breath. But I recognize it's a weakness and not something to celebrate.
Actually, coffee (caffiene) IS mind-altering, just not in a way most people think of that term. There's a pic of spider webs made by spiders under the effects of different drugs.. The web made by the spider given caffience was chaotic! I posted it on C&C's Telegram channel.
