What has me in a bit of a Debbie Downer mode this morning, is that I just read results of a Rasmussen poll: 59% of Dems think the unVaxxed should be under house arrest and not permitted to leave except in an emergency. That's almost 2 out of 3!! Only 79% of Repub oppose it. It should be 100%. I guess those 20% get all of their information from the TeeVee and assume it's all true.
Almost HALF of Dems think the Govt should be able to fine and IMPRISON people who question the efficacy of Vax on social media, radio, tv, or ONLINE!
45%, again, almost HALF of the Dems think the unVaxxed should be put into "designated facilities" (i.e, Camps) until they submit.
In other words, unless you live in a solid red neighborhood, you have neighbors - people you say hi to while walking the dog - favor you being fined, imprisoned, hauled away (preferably by boxcar no doubt), to a Camp, if they happen to discover your "unclean" status. Almost half of this country favors full on Australia fascism, over a medical procedure.
My twitter feed is full of people who think that tennis player who got booted from Australia, "got what he deserved." Ridiculous. I think I need to find new people to follow. :)

HOWEVER, I noticed that the way they asked the question -- about whether people should be fined OR imprisoned if they question the narrative online . . . how many people answered in favor because they thought a fine would be a good idea? And now how often will it get reported that they are in favor of imprisonment??? That is an irresponsible question, one that never would have passed muster in my grad stats courses when we studied the Likert scale. I'm thinking this may well be a poll meant to flare up things -- kind of a troll poll of sorts. Don't let it flare you up!
Also, the group they interviewed was only a little over 1K people, so it's not the country. And where did they choose from? I'd question the poll methods. But, either way, even if they did an excellent job of getting a random sample, as the narrative changes, so will people's opinions. Obviously the talking points are now out there (echoed almost verbatim by different "authorities" and mainstream news outlets--notice the near identical headlines in Bloomberg and The Hill about the Israeli 4th booster study).

I did question the regions of sampling since here in Seattle it would be well over 50% of people that would want more draconian measures seen. Most of us rurals here have SOME friends/family who took the V. We who have not in my blue state (Delaware) are probably a pocket of outliers? But anyway, yes. It will be a long haul, I think, for gaining personal rights back in schools and on the job even after the pandemic is declared endemic by the ones in charge.

And I understand why: is their newsfeed coming from the employer. When they get home to their large families (here people have 4-7 children), they get busy with life matters and most likely have CNN or a local news channel playing In the background. They have no time Left to know or care about news feeds like ours.

There is an entirely different attitude and behavior for people working in smaller companies like my husband’s employer.

Any news on the state or possible outcome of the CMS lawsuits in the lower courts? My hospital has once again mandated the shots. I was exempted for religious reasons, as were many of my colleagues, but they also denied a lot of people. Many of these people submitted legitimate REs. Some people were previously approved for flu, but denied covid. I also know of people in the same family, where one was denied, and another was approved (and letters were similar).
It's looking like the ones who were denied are going to have to sue. It's pretty crappy they're treating employees this way, last year's heroes! BTW, this is a large healthcare org in NE Ohio (you can guess which one).

May not be impossible but there is a s#1tload of bureaucratic paperwork, licensing, etc to have a "hospital". Need to look for alternatives (? loopholes?) that would allow physicians, nurses, et al to see and treat patients. The fed and state governments plus AMA want to be in control. At one time, was helpful to apply standards and minimum requirements but as we've seen, the red tape had overgrown and taken away clinical judgement, community best practices, any measure of logic or common sense, let alone operate with acknowledgement of ethics or rights of the individual.

I might be wrong but I have heard that DC is using some sort of vax pass at this time. I personally have three small children that are not used to wearing masks, so we will surely end up on the news should we ever try to board a flight again.
D.C.'s vax pass is only for restaurants, gyms and I think maybe movies. Not for museums, not for metro (just masks in those places). The event organizers have reserved blocks of rooms just over the river in VA -- remember, Arlington used to be part of Washington (it was a big square). Super easy to ride metro in. No masks required anywhere in VA. And I betcha if you went to a D.C. restaurant with 10 people from the march, they will let you in! It's about survival (economically).
I've been flying my grand daughter back and forth across the country for visits since beginning of May 2020. We wear masks when at the counter and through security, and then at the gate and on the flight we EAT the entire way :). If the kids have bags of apple slices and carrot sticks in their laps while watching Frozen for the 100th time, nobody gonna bother them.

Last time we flew with our brood (spring of 2021, me pregnant with our latest addition) we almost didn’t make it because our then 2 year old could not be persuaded to wear a mask and there was a very nasty airline employee who enjoyed making a big spectacle. This was shortly after the Brandon admin had taken office and the rules had changed. We packed up our business and our house, put everybody in our car and drove down from New York to Florida, never to return.
My experiences with the little people with too much power that love to enforce ‘the rules’ have not been pleasant unfortunately.

But don't worry, they will give people Remdesivir instead, three days of it, outpatient. That's 10 grand, and they don't care what harm it could do. It's disgusting. They are still saying we need to "do our part" - get jabbed get boosted get muzzled get distanced. The propaganda spewing is epic. It's sick coming from anyone, but particularly so when it's coming from people we ought to be able to trust. I don't even want to go to the hospital where I work, I have that little trust in them anymore.

One of my fond desires is the depolarization of modern life. The polarization habit is fairly recent (accelerating since the Reagan administration and Lee Atwater).
To that end, I try to tickle people's critical thinking skills, for example by pointing out that vaccination doesn't prevent infection or transmission. It takes a certain amount of self-awareness which is sadly lacking generally. So I resist pigeonholing people or ideas as left or right, red or blue, and instead examine the facts of each circumstance. There are people I loathe who do the occasional thing I agree with, and people ordinarily considered "on my side" who do things I disagree with.

Really good news. But why am I so bitter about how deftly the corporate, political and media liars are garnering kudos for lying about their crimes? I might be wrong but I have heard that DC is using some sort of vax pass at this time. I personally have three small children that are not used to wearing masks, so we will surely end up on the news should we ever try to board a flight again.
D.C.'s vax pass is only for restaurants, gyms and I think maybe movies. Not for museums, not for metro (just masks in those places). The event organizers have reserved blocks of rooms just over the river in VA -- remember, Arlington used to be part of Washington (it was a big square). Super easy to ride metro in. No masks required anywhere in VA. And I betcha if you went to a D.C. restaurant with 10 people from the march, they will let you in! It's about survival (economically).
I've been flying my grand daughter back and forth across the country for visits since beginning of May 2020. We wear masks when at the counter and through security, and then at the gate and on the flight we EAT the entire way :). If the kids have bags of apple slices and carrot sticks in their laps while watching Frozen for the 100th time, nobody gonna bother them.
I saw a vid of a dude on a flight who kept a french fry in his mouth the whole trip. Just to keep his mask off.
How about the long straw(s) from the beverage all the way up to the mouth for the entire flight? Works great.

Last time we flew with our brood (spring of 2021, me pregnant with our latest addition) we almost didn’t make it because our then 2 year old could not be persuaded to wear a mask and there was a very nasty airline employee who enjoyed making a big spectacle. This was shortly after the Brandon admin had taken office and the rules had changed. We packed up our business and our house, put everybody in our car and drove down from New York to Florida, never to return.
My experiences with the little people with too much power that love to enforce ‘the rules’ have not been pleasant unfortunately.

It is somewhat less sane than I had hoped even up here in the North East. But we last lived on Long Island (left the city behind 5 years ago). All my friends and neighbors were pretty much salt of the earth type. I miss them. Can’t have a business and raise your kids though with the completely insane government up there.
Our 5 year old has to be pinned down with three people to be vaccinated. I don’t think anyone would go through with it against our wishes. But my husband and I surely told her to keep that up should anybody try when we are not there. :)

Just had a friend's brother die after the whole Remdesivir/ventilator treatment. Enough already!

They are still saying we need to "do our part" - get jabbed get boosted get muzzled get distanced. The propaganda spewing is epic. One of my fond desires is the depolarization of modern life. The polarization habit is fairly recent (accelerating since the Reagan administration and Lee Atwater).
To that end, I try to tickle people's critical thinking skills, for example by pointing out that vaccination doesn't prevent infection or transmission. It takes a certain amount of self-awareness which is sadly lacking generally. So I resist pigeonholing people or ideas as left or right, red or blue, and instead examine the facts of each circumstance. There are people I loathe who do the occasional thing I agree with, and people ordinarily considered "on my side" who do things I disagree with.

Really good news. But why am I so bitter about how deftly the corporate, political and media liars are garnering kudos for lying about their crimes? Why would it bother me that they are blaming the people who knew what they were doing from the git go, for what they were in fact doing? I don't know. At least we're not confused anymore. They are horrible and this charade of righteousness insures that they will at least try this again.
Their claim will be that they've arrived at their new conclusions though "the science" while our conclusions, averred from day one and following, were just lucky guesses based on the now-debunked, highly-overrated, so-called common sense.
