Cool! Don’t know what you received or have checked out, so one more. A cover. Something about their treatment of this heartfelt piece. Reverence? A grasp of McClean’s reverence? Or grasp of his grasp of tragedy? I must be an old sop ‘cause it raises a tear every time.😭

Did you know that the woman Vincent supposedly lost his mind over (he was already suffering from paroxysms of mental illness, we can’t know for sure what) was a prostitute? His aim was to save her. Set up house. She apparently had a more grounded view of reality. He was penniless, supported for most of his adult life by his brother, Theo. Tragedy, family and just plain human.
And yet, the art. Clouds, shadows, of mind, in life, and still bursts of brilliance marked by the same edges or depths of... psychosis? Then again, sometimes I wonder if some forms of mental illness are as “straightforward” as the piercing of the veil; they see beyond 5 sensory illusion, the real truth, to which the sane are insulated and blind. What do I know? (Not much! Practically nothing in fact!!)
Except perhaps that psychopathy when you have more money than you can spend is a very dangerous thing.
Yes..I did know that about Vincent van Gogh - did you ever read the book "Lust For Life"? I read that as a teenager (many moons ago--LOL!) and it was made into a movie starring Kirk Douglas as Vincent (an uncanny likeness between the two men). As for mental illness--my dear Mom suffered with for most of her adult life - I have my own "analysis" of why she developed what they now call "bipolar syndrome"--the diagnosis back in the early 1960's was "manic/depression". I always say the "real crazies" are on the outside--and I espouse to what you termed "piercing the veil" as to why some humans behave "quite outside the box" but yet they are able to function "somewhat" in the "sane" world. A bit of "craziness" can be quite exhilarating (as long as you aren't harming yourself or anyone elsel) LOL!! The powerful potentates throughout human history have always exerted their "wealth and power" upon ordinary people as you and me are. But we who have given our "will and souls" to our Creator God have the SUPREME KNOWLEDGE and SURETY that "this world" is not our HOME--we're "just a passin' through" as the old spiritual tune goes!!
Nope, never read Lust For Life. If there’s still a copy around meant for me at some point, I guess it’ll arrive at the appointed time. !
Wow, you do know, as a first hand witness, something about mental illness. Yes, “manic-depression” fell by the wayside in maybe the 80s. I had a friend who suffered with m-d - before and after the terminology changed. I can’t possibly understand it. I do wonder about that departure from 5 sense illusion (even Einstein called it illusion). I’m 100% sure there’s more here than meets eye-ear-nose-touch-taste “reality”. Take dreams for instance. They are things. Just not 5 sense things. Consciousness is the final frontier. Gene Roddenberry missed the mark. Did you know that “kirk” is a Gaelic form of “church”? I have veered off on a tangent. My brand of crazy.
Yep, it’s a short trip this earthwalk, whether a soul comes and goes as an infant or as an elder. HOME. I’m not rushing, would be interesting to see in 5-sense how this rather climactic chapter plays out, but, any time is ok with me. Shedding the body for good (love love love spending expanded me in dreams and meditation :) will be miraculous!
You do know, Het, that our Creator God "spoke" to so many people on earth through DREAMS - and as I age, my "dreams" are becoming more and more vivid AND prophetic. It's rather exciting--as sometimes I even HEAR in my dreams....that was not the case when I was in 'younger years'. I have never seriously "meditated" but the "out of body" experience while in the "conscious mental state" must be SUPREME ECSTASY. I guess that's why so many "addictive" types go to DRUGGING for that experience. I have always been averse to that route of "messing with my brain".
Welp, the way I see it we’re all a part of Creator’s creation and The Creator is no less cut off from His-Her creation so we are inseparable from the Creator, each a part of the whole, Creator and Creation. Words make it pretzel like, sorry. It should be taken as expansive vs pretzel-y. I think we have innate abilities – gifts – that go completely unnurtured in western society, stuff that, due to our connection/inseparability make it completely natural to join with or encounter everything that’s out there/in here (*points to self, inseparable from the whole). Trouble is, if we connected in waking consciousness to everything all at once, or even if just a little bit all at once, it would drive a person crazy. Or perceived as crazy as in the very thing referred to earlier. Or the body might not survive the experience of other consciousness.
So hearing from the Creator in dreams? Makes perfect sense to me. I’ve had precognitive dreams since I was a kid. Not a lot, and nothing bad like accidents, tragedies or death, thank goodness, that could have freaked me out. Just saw stuff in dreams that fit a near future scenario or a present one that I could have had no knowledge of. Also have an open-shut (fast, like an old school camera shutter) something-or-other to other people’s thoughts. Ask me a question I wouldn’t likely have the answer to and I can sometimes give you the correct obscure answer because I see an image flash in my mind. I‘ve gotten a lot of “How did you know?” It’s not constant, thank goodness again. That would be invasive. I‘ve come across people who are practiced at telepathy on the receiving end. Good people who get the ethics involved and have to consciously shut down the capacity. It’s a thing. I gotta wonder if in the future after this volatile chapter winds down and humans realize that TPTB have worked their oppression to keep us in the dark about our innate abilities, what powerful beings we are, if society will evolve to instruct members about, well, ourselves, via a new system of education. I‘m thinkin’ that’s for the X’ers, millennials, Z’s and future generations to figure out. I’m in late fall here. Not dead yet, but not one of the implementers of the new systems. Ask us elders about what and how though, and we’ll have a wealth of input!
We were all young once. Some did recreational experimenting. When lucky, nothing stuck. Meditation’s pretty cool if it works for you. I have hovered at the ajar door of some ineffable something. Even hovering is an expanded state of consciousness. The final frontier.
I have a “meditation” for you if you’re game. A quickie. 10-15 seconds. Repeatable. The more the better in service to the planet. Posted elsewhere so it’s possible you might have seen it? In your mind’s eye pull way, way out from the planet. Picture her surrounded by and infused to her core with blinding brilliant white or brilliant golden-white light. That’s it. Everything is energy. Thoughts are things. Send/bring light to the planet. It’s what will overcome the darkness. So sez me. But not just me. ;) For your consideration.
I "get" what you are espousing - I've been involved with several "light people" in the past 23 years--the man with whom I presently live (a long-time friend who is also addicted to substances that make him no fun to be around) could be a wonderful asset to the universe if he would give up the substance abuse. As it is--he has helped a few people with his "spiritual insights"...now, for some odd reason, he has become a rabid conservative - I don't put "labels" on myself or others--but Jeff (this is MY FRIEND--not the "leader of this pack") has become a "poster person" for the "ult conservative" people in the world--too, too sad!!
Oof. Thou art a better person than I. It would appear thou art doing a service for thy fellow man, including its inherent difficulty. I respect that and applaud you. Not sure I could do the live-in with a boxed-in thinker, in any direction.
I have been "recognized" as a "lightworker" by both my elders (the preceding generation) on down to younger folks. Who knew? Always a misfit. Tried while young to reshape and squeeze into the mainline norm. Playacted. My society bought it but it was never comfortable. I'm too weird. Had to grow into acceptance of the whole lightworker thing. Foundation of my heterodoxy I guess. And there you go.
God is my guiding light. I am inseparable. And am not a body with a consciousness. I love the way C.S. Lewis put it: You don't have a soul, you have a body. You *are* a soul. ~le fin~ :) :)
Not a "better person" than thou, dear Het! Just perhaps more pragmatic--I "pay the price" for that though in my "harmony factor". In any event...anyone who can quote C.S. is "A #1 Persona Grata" in my "book"!! Keep on shining your "light" into the deep, dark corners of our sad world!

Het--if you haven't read this interview with Don McLean about the genesis of "Vincent"--I believe you'll be "tearing" as you finish reading it! TEAR ON, Het! https://donmclean.com/story-behind-the-song-don-mcleans-vincent/
Thanks for this.

Sigh.
On with Tuesday...

I find "tearing" to be a WONDROUS RELEASE - so I'm right there with you, Het!
💯% agreed!
Plenty of it, too, in the past few years watching monstrosities unleashed.
More determined than ever I will not comply. Even if it means I make my final exit. So be it.
I'll be right behind you, Het - screaming...TAKE ME HOME, LORD JESUS!
