“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” — Jesus, in John 16:33
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. — 1 John 5:4

I have two missions for this year (unchanged from last year). One, to live out my faith by seeking to make disciples for Christ. Two, to live out my faith by standing against the current evil and injustice. People need to know how to face what is happening in the world now and, more importantly, they need to be prepared for eternity. "In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." Romans 8:37
That is much the same resolve I have and I also have grown because of covid in my faith journey in ways I never anticipated. That “grit” has come to the forefront.
Our pastor talked yesterday of having the thing called grit, that we are not passing onto our children. The ability to persevere the tribulations we all will face and know we can have expectations for better because of what God has done for us. Grit has gotten generations through to the other side.
My mom, who was a woman of great Christian faith and who had an incredible brilliant mind of constant historical, spiritual and geopolitical research and curiousity, gave these last words to my daughter who just had a baby (the baby is her great grandchild): "make sure that you pray every day for her because she is going to live in a very evil world". Indeed. 😥May God have mercy on us all. 🙏
The bible condemns "pharmakeia" (in the original Greek) in several places but it is translated as "sorcery" rather than mind or body-altering drugs. If you google around you'll find plenty of "fact checks" insisting that pharmakeia has nothing to do with drugs. Uh huh.
"Pharmakeia" is obviously where we get the word PHARMACY, ya know, that place that hands out PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS? But I guess fact checkers know best! LOL!
When people start talking about the world our children will grow up in, I try to post this.

Don't feel sorry for your children/grandchildren because the world they will grow up in is not what it used to be.
Raise them up to know the power they walk in as children of God.
Train them up in the authority of His Word.
Teach them to walk in faith knowing God is in control.
Empower them to know they can change the world.
Don't teach them to be fearful and disheartened by the state of the world but hopeful they can do something about it.
Every person in all of history has been placed in the time that they were in because of God's sovereign plan.
He knew Daniel could handle the lion's den.
He knew David could handle Goliath.
He knew Ester could handle Haman.
He knew Peter could handle persecution.
He knows that your child can handle whatever challenge they face in their life. He created them specifically for it!
Don't be scared for your children/grand children. Be honored that God chose you to parent the generation that is facing the biggest challenges of our lifetimes. Rise up to the challenge!
Raise Daniels, Davids, Esthers and Peters!!
God isn't scratching His head wondering what He's gonna do with this mess of a world.
He has an army He's raising up to drive back the darkness and make Him known all around the world.
Don't let your fear steal the greatness God placed in them. I know it's hard for you to imagine them as anything but our sweet little babies, and we want to protect them from anything that could ever be hard on them, but they (as well as you) were born for a time such as this! (Ester 4:14)
Overcome: To conquer, prevail

Amen, sister!
Anne, you may enjoy reading “After Ten Years” by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. 🙏🏼 📖
Thanks! I ordered it!
Those are great missions.

I would like to have known your mom! My mom is also in heaven…
And I would add to her words: "... and ensure she never enters the school system."
Amen. I am 44 and fear for my girl daily. But she has a thick backbone. One that challenges me daily
And maybe even do it without antidepressants.

I'll go with my gut on this one.

As events worsen, our children will be forced to develop grit or, sadly, fall along the way.
