If you have an iphone and updated recently you need to go to Settings, Battery and toggle OFF for the option that is now automatic for "charge phone slower if it is not a climate change friendly/sustainable charging option". mine started taking forever to charge also and this was the reason

I remember going to Diddny-land back in the 70's and Motorola had a big science-y displace with the new touch-tone "dials". You could dial your # on a rotary and have it timed and then dial the same number on the touch-tone to show you how fast these new phones were going to be! Pretty crazy!
Ah, we had an iphone and ipad both recently stopped charging, and I bet that's why. The ipad then randomly started again, with no obvious reason. (As a side note, I did find that if you plug it into the wall, and then power it off completely from the "settings -> general" menu, it WILL charge while it's switched off. But of course you can't use it or get calls during the process... also, plug it in BEFORE turning it off, or else it will turn itself back on when you plug it in.)

Sheesh. Do Tesla owners get the same message, when they plug their Virtue-Mobiles into the parking lot outlet at Whole Foods?
EV owners are really in for a surprise when they start extracting charge from their plugged in cars to put back on the grid in times of high demand.
Virtue Mobiles 🤣😆
Yes! 😂
Eventually we won't be able to toggle it off...need to find a better phone option soon
How does the phone know where the electricity is coming from by plugging into a wall outlet?
My guess is that it’s time of day and region that tell the phone how to charge.
My phone still has a rotary dial - I wonder if it knows where its juice is coming from???
Rotary dial? YOU WIN, hands down!!

Done, thank goodness for commenters - mine would most likely be on slow permanently here in CA!
I'm trying to get off all the big tech. Still clinging to an iPhone8+. No iTunes or cloud services tho. Thanks for the tip.
I have an iphone 10 amd never update it. We also dont use cloud services or alexa.
I keep not updating mine either. Especially not when the feds warn us we must. I'll take my chances.
I still use a I phone 7, and that isn't an option yet.
I'm still on my iPhone 6s, and OS 12. Still runs just fine, and no covid app installed
Mine is still iPhone 7 as well (without that battery charging option.) Also, I do NOT update ever.
When this iPhone dies, I’m switching to another brand… but which one? Any suggestions out there?
I'm going to buy a Pixel 6 phone, wipe the operating system and reinstall an open source os, probably Graphene.

Thank you! I checked out when they added the pregnant man emoji .. 🫃🫃🫃🫃🫃
I went to settings and Battery, updates are current, and I didn’t find that option. (I have an old iphone).
Thanks for this tip! I was wondering why my Lightning charger was not doing it's lightning job. Appreciate your post.
Thanks! I just turned my off!
Can someone jailbreak it so that it only charges when there's NOT "green" power? Then troll your hippie relatives with it... 😈
