The news bag today contains: a word of thanks to C&C from new Representative Harriet Hagemen of Wyoming; ANOTHER former White House official finds classified documents under the couch cushions; the developing Seth Rich story is finally finding its legs; a C&C movie review; it’s Doomsday, again!; courageous president Zelenskyy takes prompt action to protect his backside; Governor DeSantis tackles teachers’ unions and woke school boards; lawsuit against the California doctor law picks up steam; and an amusing comeuppance video to help kick your day off right.

🪖 Harriet Hagemen, who took Liz Cheney’s Congressional seat in Wyoming, called me yesterday to thank Coffee & Covid, again, for our multiplying her during the campaign. She wanted to let you guys know that the multiplier was critically important, not just in the financial sense, but also because it greatly encouraged her and her staff that there was significant grassroots support for her campaign.
She specifically mentioned all the $20.22 donations.
Harriet wants us to know she’s been appointed to the Judiciary Committee and is trying to get on the committee investigating how the federal government was weaponized against the American people. She said just wait, things are going to get interesting.
On behalf of Coffee & Covid, I thanked Harriet, for intentionally walking into the political crosshairs and for serving the country. We are grateful that Liz Cheney is no longer in office (I’ve heard she’s now helping democrats pick candidates for the next go-around). We have high hopes for Ms. Hageman.

🔥 In the Great Annals of Throwing Yourself Under the Bus, CNN ran a politically explosive story yesterday headlined, “Classified documents found at Pence’s Indiana home.” Oh no, not again!
According to CNN, Pence asked his own lawyer to search his property ‘just in case.’ The lawyer found “a small number of documents with classified markings” in four taped-up cardboard boxes in an unsecure location at Pence’s house. His team immediately called the FBI, came clean, and asked the feds to pick up the documents.
Pence vowed to “fully cooperate” with any investigation, whether with the National Archives or any Congressional investigation. This will be significant in a moment.
“He has agreed to fully cooperate with congressional oversight and any questions we have about the matter,” said [House Oversight Chairman James Comer], adding that Pence’s transparency “stands in stark contrast” to the Biden administration’s response to Congress over the classified documents.
I’m starting to wonder who DOESN’T have classified documents at home? To be perfectly clear, under the “rules,” that isn’t okay. It’s like serving bacon-wrapped figs at a bar mitzvah, or misgendering a bad facsimile of a woman. See, only the PRESIDENT can take classified documents home without special arrangements.
House Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul told CNN that grab-and-go secret files are no bueno:
“I don’t know what to tell you other than it’s not permissible, whether you’re a chairman of a committee or president of the United States or vice president. And I’ve been dealing in the classified world all my career; I don’t understand people taking these documents home. If you do that, you’re supposed to have a safe designated for storage and you have to have a proper briefcase to carry it in. I don’t know all the facts here,” the Texas Republican said.
It sure seems like nobody’s really keeping track of where classified documents are, or who’s got them, or whether they’ve been returned or destroyed or whatever, and the whole thing apparently runs on the honor system, which — let’s be honest — given who we’re dealing with here is the worst idea since somebody woke up from a meth hangover blurrily thinking about mRNA.
Grade-school libraries have better systems for keeping track of coloring books than the U.S. Government does for our top-secret classified documents.
Although CNN tried to spin the Pence document blunder as being helpful to former vice-president Biden, because it shows “other people do it too,” really this story is a dagger puncturing the Trump document prosecution’s legal liver.
Among the laundry list of bizarre defenses raised to Biden’s classified documents haul, dems stressed his status as vice-president (although some documents dated back to his senatorial career, nor do VPs have declassification powers) and Biden’s level of cooperation (good with DOJ, not so hot with Congress).
But now we have another former vice-president who is even more cooperative than Joe Biden. And it sure is starting to look like what we have here is a “custom” or “course of conduct” that lots of politicians were assuming was kosher. Once you hit three in a row, people rightly conclude there’s probably a lot more than three.
Are we going to throw them ALL in jail? Are we going to send squads of FBI raiders to every former president, vice-president, and senator’s homes and offices? Think about it: if home-stored secret documents really ARE a national security threat, given what we know now, don’t we have to be SURE? Can we take ANYBODY’s word for it?
The Pence story shows they might not even KNOW they have classified documents laying around.
Mike Pence has SOME political armor since, to democrats, he remains the bipartisan hero of the 2020 elections. Still, they’d go after him in a hot second, if they thought they could. But this time, if the dems claim Pence did anything illegal, it will stick to Biden too. Pence just made the whole issue into a political boomerang.
If they try to throw it at anyone, it will come right back and knock them silly.
Thus the democrats are snared in a semantic slough. While admitting that storing classified materials in unauthorized tree forts is wrong, they now must slice the semantic onion very finely, and claim there’s a loophole: years later, once the documents turn up like a bad penny, if you “cooperate” the right way, then you can get out of jail Scot-free.
Cooperation! THAT’S the ticket. Not like that awful Trump person. Plus, orange.
But … unfortunately for the deep state, Pence is ALREADY cooperating better than Biden, because Biden is stonewalling Congress. It’s Goldilocks! We now have three “levels” of cooperation: the Trump level (too hot),* the Biden level (too cold), and the Pence level (just right), which makes it insanely difficult for corporate media shills to easily mold complicated exculpatory principles into psyop-friendly soundbites.
(* I know, I know, Trump cooperated too; but that’s the lie the dems are going with. Fine.)
So Pence just turned the deep state’s only play into something everybody will recognize as mealy-mouthed equivocation and special pleading. Plus Pence’s story reveals that classified documents commonly sneak into boxes at former officials’ homes. Apparently.
There’s some speculation that Pence, who’d told NBC he’d never take any classified documents home, no, never, don’t be silly, is really covering for Biden, since this also gives Biden an out. But I think the evidence is weak for this claim, especially considering Trump’s reaction:
To the extent that Pence’s awkward disclosure does help Biden, it also yanks the teeth out of any effort to dump Biden using the documents pretext, the way they flushed that mass-murderer Andrew Cuomo using stale groupie-groping allegations. They’ll have to find something else for Biden.
What I suggest is the FBI should finally take a look at the Anthony Weiner, Seth Rich, and Hunter Biden laptops.
🔥 Since we’re speaking of Seth Rich… remember Seth? He was the DNC’s 2016 voter expansion data director who turned whistleblower and was promptly murdered under suspicious circumstances. You may not know that there’s a lawsuit percolating through the courts against the FBI for, among other things, failing to investigate and failing to respond to FOIA requests about the slain staffer.
On January 13th, the plaintiffs in that lawsuit filed a motion accusing the FBI of a coverup. Significantly, it says the FBI has admitted that Seth Rich was involved in the DNC’s email server hack in 2016:
Since Rich was involved in the DNC server hack, that means he did have the dirt, thereby establishing motive. And … what’s on that laptop?
🎥 That Goldilocks reference reminded me that we took the boys to see the new ‘Puss in Boots’ movie this weekend. It was funny, active, artistic, and a lot of fun, even for adults. The characters were great; particularly the Goldilocks crime family, who was deliciously memorable. And surprisingly, it was 99% woke-free. It earns a C&C “strong recommend.”
🚀 Thanks to the Ukraine war, the gloomy member of the Science and Security Board moved the hands of their “Doomsday Clock” to 90-seconds till midnight:
Meh. Again? The Doomsday Clock is set once a year by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. Back in 1991, it was like ten seconds to midnight:
In that clip, I found their facial expressions hilarious. Imagine the videographer’s instructions. “Okay, smile! No wait, don’t smile. No, not that much. Frown a little more … a little more … stop! Right there.”
Plus, we’ve already lived through the “Doomsday Virus.” So. Bring it on.
🚀 Yesterday, news broke simultaneously all across corporate media about how hard the Ukrainians are — suddenly and unexpectedly — working to combat corruption. Something bad must have happened and they’re trying to get ahead of it. It smells like a hastily-conceived psyop, because (1) every corporate outlet reported virtually the same story, on the same day, and (2) they almost all used the exact same words in their self-parodying headlines.
That’s just a drop in the bucket, there are many, many more. What we REALLY need is a corruption crackdown on corporate media. But I digress.
Apparently our psy-operators think the words “corruption” and “crackdown” are the keys. Or else it was all just a giant coincidence and all the headline editors somehow came up with the exact same phrases.
Or, as I keep telling you, there’s already one person in charge of this freak show.
Anyway, someone must have been about to go public with a big reveal on corruption in Ukraine, which has been happening for ages and has never been a secret. The headlines show the deep state is trying to de-fang the story: “Yeah, yeah, there WAS corruption but as soon as president Zelenskyy found out, he did the right thing and got rid of all the bad actors. Problem solved! What a great president!”
You can believe that if you want to. But if so, I’d like to discuss some high-return, zero-risk investments with you. It’s a sure thing. In Ukraine. You can’t lose.*

🔥 Governor DeSantis tossed another political hand-grenade yesterday, when he announced his newest package of education reforms.
There’s a LOT to unpack here. The bottom line is, among a bunch of other great individual pieces, DeSantis intends to break up the teachers’ unions and the blue school boards.
First, it rewrites a bunch of the rules related to teachers’ unions. Teachers would no longer be REQUIRED to join the local union, and they could not be punished in any way for opting out. It would require unionized teachers to pay their union dues directly, not through a paycheck deduction, and would require annual disclosure to members of the costs of membership. And union officials may not earn more from the union than the highest-paid teacher in that union gets paid by their school.
And that’s not all, not by a long shot.
Next, and this is truly amazing, the new law would set 8-year term limits on school board service. This will help break up the blue school boards, whose members used make entire careers out of school board service. A 12-year term limit was more recently enacted, and this new law would shorten the time even more, to only two terms.
Finally, the whole thing is wrapped in a delicious breakfast burrito of a billion-dollar raise for teachers and individual liability protections for teachers from harassment by woke school administrators when teachers do things like buck illegal orders to teach materials they know are prohibited by Florida statute. Plus it would give teachers a way to file complaints against school officials who try to get them to break the law, and creates new powers to investigate those complaints.
Back in 2020, I predicted the teachers’ unions would be sorry for locking down schools and pushing for mandates. The stone wheel always turns. It’s a nice view when you’re on top of the stone wheel; but not so much when you’re down on the grinding side. It’s better to just stay off the stone wheel altogether. Watch Netflix or something.
This is shaping up to be an exciting legislative session in Florida.
🔥 The Sacramento Bee ran an uplifting story yesterday headlined, “Judge Questions Clarity of New California Law Targeting Doctors Who Share COVID-19 Misinformation.”
The widely-despised law punishes doctors who advise their patients about anything that varies from the “approved” covid playbook. I’ve said before this is unconstitutional. The judge seems to agree and think it’s unconstitutionally vague.
Effective January 1st, the law says doctors who share “false” information about covid treatment options or vaccines, deliberately or not, could be disciplined for “unprofessional conduct,” which could lead to them losing their medical license. But the judge doesn’t get it:
A federal judge said Monday that he couldn’t make sense of a critical provision in a new law that punishes doctors for spreading false information about COVID-19 to their patients. Senior Judge William Shubb called its definition of misinformation “nonsense” during a hearing in the United States District Court in Sacramento.
The law’s language defines misinformation as “false information that is contradicted by contemporary scientific consensus contrary to the standard of care.” Try to explain that without word salad, I dare you.
Don’t feel bad. During yesterday’s hearing, Governor Newsom’s lawyers couldn’t come up with any concrete examples of what would be considered actionable misinformation under the law either, and the judge seemed downright skeptical:
When asked to more specifically discuss statements that could violate the rule, [government attorney] Liska declined to do so, saying it was dependent on the circumstances of each individual patient. Then how do you expect doctors to know what may violate the law? Shubb countered.
Indeed.
The lawsuit is being argued by excellent lawyer Jenin Younes. Long-time Team Reality member Dr. Tracy Høeg is one of the plaintiffs. Great work, guys.

The local library keeps better track of what books I've taken out than the government does of their classified documents. I think the government should contact the library system to manage their classified info.
