For all the men here:

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭25‬-‭27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The biggest complaint I hear from single Christian women is that they can't find a man who will not only love them, but be the spiritual leader of the home. Thank you for sharing these verses.

To be transparent, if we do not have the true Christian character, we cannot endure a real marriage.

And now more than ever this matters.

“As men we need to learn from JesusChrist to be real husbands “.

Amen. And we women need to learn to respect and love our husbands and learn to submit as unto the Lord as Scripture tell us. The two go hand in hand.

I felt the same way. For so very long. It took me realizing I may just not find one “more spiritually mature” and single. And that it is ok as long as he is a believer and he desires to lead, strives to.

and wives respect your husbands.

also in Ephesians.

I think these inspired writings show that it is for women to respect the authority that is their husband and that this is required to be given favor with God.

I used to say my husband was my hero…being the youngest was not always easy, so I went down a few dark paths. He came along and saved me. I have 2 wonderful children and a very close relationship with my siblings…my husband is gone BUT always with me ❤️

But being aware, that exercise authority doesn’t imply abuse of it.

My mother, sometime in mid- 60's when I was a youngish teen, said to me (her only daughter), "A woman needs to be able to look up to her husband." Which is really easy to do, if one chooses carefully that husband.

This is the passage chosen by my daughter and her future husband to be read as the second reading at their wedding Mass! They are even including the preceding verses which exhort women to be subordinate to their husbands ;)

Just be careful. With the right husband, the subordination thing works. with a narcissist who believes this, it is devastating. abuse then runs rampant. "But it is biblical!!" he screams. ignoring his wife who is suffocated.
