I have a different "take" on this, Truth...I believe most parents have "abdicated" the responsiblity side of parenting to "the screens (large and small)". We now have a generation of what I call "weeds" - because their minds have not been "cultivated" to accept many aspects of maturation! It's very, very sad and unsettling. I find the most circumspect young people I have met in the past 25 years are those who are HOME SCHOOLED.
just like many people failed to make their own decision about the vaccine… and just allowed the government and social media to make their decision for them about the vaccine…
But I’ve seen the dark side of homeschool too. Where the parent wasn’t doing anything with their child- they just essentially weren’t going to school/being educated… at all.
If homeschool is done well though- it’s probably far superior to the majority of public school educations now- now that schools are mainly just indoctrination to ideologies.
I can understand how "easy" it would be to "fail to follow through" on Home Schooling--but I have not been privy to those "home school" failures--only the successes. Did you know that "public" education, for the most part, throughout the early part of our country's history was started by "groups of parents" in conjunction with the pastor(s) of the town's church(es). How different things would be if that were still the case. Alas...we have "progressed" into the abyss of mediocrity.
Parents are not parenting either - another serious issue in our country!
It’s my opinion that parents have lost their nerve to parent their kids… no one wants to say no to their kids about anything anymore.
And as a result, a huge percent of kids are completely infantilized.

I agree with much of what you’re saying

Indeed.
