Go back and read that and pay particular attention to the word "things". And what are these things? They are the fulfilling of everything foretold by the OT prophets concerning the coming of the Messiah and the closeout of the Old Covenant in the days of vengeance when "they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory" to establish His New Covenant in His shed blood; to establish the kingdom of God.
Understand, the Messiah was talking directly to all those who were following Him, to all who were hearing His words, to "this generation". These things were recorded for our benefit and understanding but He was talking directly to the people in front of Him and He was warning them to escape the desolation of Jerusalem. Thus was His church there in Jerusalem saved from the destruction that the Roman army would bring upon Jerusalem fulfilling God's judgement upon apostate Israel.
When the Messiah rose from the grave, He ascended to the right hand of God and sat down to rule and reign as "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth." How did he teach them to pray? "...Thy kingdom come..."
"These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that ALL THINGS must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms CONCERNING Me." Luke 24
