Amen. I’m in my 40s and my GYN keeps pushing me to get a mammo. Dang it.

I am 54 and have never had a mammogram, you do not need one. We know our bodies better than anyone else. God made them wonderfully, we just need to trust Him and our own instincts. Allopathic care is disingenuous.

Amen sister! I’m mostly trying to figure out how I keep getting a pap without a mammo. They may refuse me.

If it helps knowing, I have not had a pap for about 20 years. The only one I ever had was a year after our youngest son was born. Even with very irregular periods and menstrual pain my whole life, I do not feel as though I have missed them… Trust yourself, don’t let them bully you.

Watch the movie “Boobs: The War on Women’s Breasts” first, then decide. Several places you can stream it.

Quick tip: Search on the entire title, not just the word “Boobs.” 😬

I listened to Sharyl Attkisson interview the woman who produced this documentary. I haven’t gone for a mammogram since. I started when in late 20s because mass of cystic tissue- or so my physician believed. If I ever screen for cancer again, it will be through thermography.

Kind of related(?): almost two years ago, I discovered some old blogs discussing completely abandoning shampoos and conditioners. Eventually I found e-book “Happy Hair” by Lucy Aitken Read (Amazon/Kindle). The book is over 10 y/o, still useful. I am 18+ months into it and while I am still experimenting, I will never go back and have changed all my skincare products.

I think commercial skincare products are probably not great for overall health, for lots of reasons.

Because of comments here, I have also changed out my dental care!

I am 10 years no shampoo and conditioner! It was a bit of a rough start (about a 2 week detox, plan accordingly) but now my hair is just happily living it's best life.

I read one woman’s account, she is down to water only. I am not there yet. But distilled or boiled water is fantastic.

What does Happy Hair recommend??

There are so many recommendations and tips in this book, I simply can’t summarize it. Also I think every head of hair is different, so my takeaways from reading the book will be different than yours.

The one universal recommendation is to use a boar bristle brush, essential for many reasons, such as distributing natural oils down the hair shaft as well as keeping the hair shafts clean.

If I were younger I would spring for one of the expensive brands, because with good care it would last for decades. At this point the decades ahead of me are far fewer than those behind. Amazon sells Spornette DeVille brand, more affordable.

And then there's the mutilation in the form of the removal of the healthy breasts of teenage girls who have been told the lie that their troubles are because they are really boys and this would make their mental and emotional anguish go away.

They pushed me and pushed me that they needed a “baseline” mammo. At 50 I finally relented. I have scar tissue all around my neck and clavicle from a whiplash injury + C4 fracture. I was in so much pain for about 3 months afterwards. It reactivated so much trauma. Never again unless absolutely necessary.
