The fact that no one can provide a specific definition for what makes one person “black” and another “white”, besides saying vague things like “you just know” or giving archetypal examples instead of a set of immutable characteristics that we can base that definition on, is very telling. No one can tell me where the “black” skin tones on the foundation color swatches begins and where the “white” begins. Not to mention Asian and Hispanic. Also lumping in Indians because they’re on the same continent with the Chinese makes no sense. They are as unalike in many ways as so-called “white” people are compared to the Chinese, Japanese, and other East Asians. All of these attempts to categorize people and make them fit into boxes that clearly make no objective sense is just a failed simplification anthropologists tried to make that we’d be better served to jettison.
