Appointing Kirsch directly might be too much of a lightning rod, but looking at the list of new appointees, I see a group that will be open to his data and take it seriously. He can probably get more accomplished as an informal consultant than as a committee member.

. . . and been so ignored. That's the part that is about to end, I hope. Ditto for Ed Dowd. Both Kirsch and Dowd are data guys with no medical credentials, that's why they would be too controversial. But in an open-minded forum they will carry enormous weight.
Oh they would fit just fine. But the "media" and the "experts" would make a big fuss trying to discredit them and it would distract from getting the work done. Don't get me wrong - I think Kirsch (Dowd too) would be wonderful committee members. My caution is purely political, nothing to do with their expertise.

Agreed. But he is incredibly informed. He has invested so much time.

Yes, Dowd!
But science is ultimately made up of data..so why wouldn't they fit.
