I knew a woman who was so allergic to everything she couldn't go outside. She did research and started making changes in her life and the severity of the her allergies went away. She was able to lead a normal life. I wish she still lived near me because I'd like to pick her brain. What did you do to take care of your UC?

I was so bad I could barely get out of bed and didn't care if I died... I was in very good shape and took no meds before this happened.

I took steroids for 3 months to allow my gut to heal and balance, made and ate/drank fermented veggies and kombucha, kefir, took a very good tumeric and just ate every carefully listening to my body's reaction slowly getting better.

....stayed away from sugar, fried foods, even coffee... There wasn't much I could eat.

I think I may have to do something similar to deal with issues I have. Part of me balks at the idea of giving up all the foods I love so much but the alternative is possibly killing me and certainly effecting my physical health which in turn effects my mental health.

Did you follow a specific eating plan? When you doctor prescribed steroids, how did you get them to agree to that? I think if I went to my doctor and said I needed steroids to allow my gut to heal and balance, they'd laugh me out of the office. I don't go there anymore, either, so they'll never get the chance! 😏

Did you have an integrative or functional doctor?

I didn't go back to eating all the junk either but integrated the probiotic and Prebiotic Foods and I just eat a lot less sugar and fried foods etc.

I didn't have a choice but I had to change my diet. It was only temporary though. My GI doctor is the one that prescribed the steroids to calm my ulcerative colitis. I'm pretty sure you could get a prescription for prednisone from your regular doctor. Tell him you want to allow your gut to heal so your body doesn't keep attacking it. Tell him you want to do a little experiment and see if it works. Tell him if it doesn't work no harm no foul.
