Another terrific order in Missouri v. Biden; Zuckerberg gives away the censorship game; Smugnurse correction and update; Zelenskyy snubbed by NATO; tough Biden skips NATO dinner; and more.
Good morning, C&C, it’s Wednesday! Your roundup today includes: another great order from Missouri v. Biden as the judge denies the government’s first motion for a say of the censorship injunction; Zuckerberg contradicts government lawyers in podcast interview; Smugnurse correction and update; vexxed Zelenskyy snubbed by NATO; tough Biden skips official NATO dinner; and an uplifting update on a young patriot.
🗞💬 *WORLD NEWS AND COMMENTARY* 💬🗞
🔥 Yesterday, not surprisingly, the Judge in the Missouri v. Biden case denied the government’s motion to stay the injunction forbidding it from censoring Americans. He’s being careful; he typed up a well-drafted, thirteen-page order. In this new order, in showing that the government was likely to lose, Judge Doughty provided examples of clear censorship from each of the following federal agencies: the White House, the Surgeon General and his staff, the CDC, the NIAID, the FBI, the CISA, and the State Department.
The government’s misconduct was so widespread, one wonders what the federal government was doing during the pandemic apart from censoring Americans.
Sometimes it only takes reading one sentence in an order to tell which way the Court plans to go. Here’s that one sentence from this order:
CISA Director Jen Easterly views the word “infrastructure” [expansively] to include our “cognitive infrastructure,” which deals with the way people acquire knowledge and understanding.
Easterly’s remark was not just a throwaway line. CISA is part of Homeland Security, which has jurisdiction over the Nation’s “critical infrastructure.” Easterly meant that “cognitive infrastructure” — our collective brains and the thoughts in them — are part of the country’s critical infrastructure and thus subject to HomeSec oversight and control.
Orwell himself would never have believed that a real, unelected, unaccountable government official said something that sinister.
Federal court rules required the government to try to seek a stay from Judge Doughty first. Now that he’s denied the stay, they can try again at the Fifth Circuit. As I’ve noted before, the Plaintiffs picked possibly the very best circuit in the country to bring this once-in-a-lifetime civil rights case, since the Fifth Circuit was reliably pro-freedom during the difficult cases of the pandemic.
Judge Doughty’s new order sort of summarizes his previous 100+-page order, so if you want to get a quick sense of the case, read this one (it’s double spaced).
🔥 Haha, while the government’s lawyers in Missouri v. Biden were busy arguing that no censorship occurred, in a recent podcast interview, Meta/Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted straight out that government censorship went too far and undermined trust in the institutions. In part:
“There hadn’t been time to vet a lot of the scientific assumptions, and, you know, unfortunately I think a lot of the kind of establishment on that, um, kind of waffled on a bunch of the facts, and you know, asked for a bunch of things to be censored, that in retrospect wound up being more debatable, or true, and that stuff is really tough, right, and really undermines trust.”
Zuck didn’t say, not explicitly, but WHO has the juice to ask Facebook “for a bunch of things to be censored?” It wasn’t my Aunt Sally. Unless Jen Easterly is my Aunt Sally. Which she isn’t. So.
💉 Last week I reported the case of Smugnurse (Kaleigh Zimmerman), 34, a popular TikTok anti-disinformation warrior, and made an unfortunate mistake; I reported she’d died. But in fact, she was and is still breathing and struggling to recover. Fortunately I corrected the error before the end of the day, but then I discovered that Smugnurse already heard about the mixup, which made me feel awful. (Fortunately, I believe she was notified about the correction too.)
Anyway, my slipup got me thinking about her case a bit more. Her story tracks with the censorship stories, believe it or not.
But first of all, to clear up any confusion, in the words of Mark Twain, rumors of Smugnurse’s death were greatly exaggerated. By the most recent information, she’s still struggling with serious health issues related to a stroke and post-craniectomy infection leading to a cranial staph infection.
Here is the admittedly very attractive Smugnurse from April 2022, and it’s easy to see why the petite and persuasive healthcare worker gathered such a large following. In this clip, Smugnurse — “Smug” to her followers — expressed vexation; she was quite beside herself that the government wasn’t doing MORE to stop “those people” from spreading misinformation about vaccine injuries. She said she was “over it.” She wanted to see some “consequences.”
Smug was no keyboard complainer. She wasn’t just sitting around waiting for the government to act. She would often contact anti-vaccine folks’ employers, reporting them for spreading misinformation on social media, and demanding consequences. She was often effective. Here’s a Becker News article from 2021 that gives Smug credit for getting a Grand Rapids pediatric ophthalmic technician cancelled for making an anti-vaccine TikTok:
McCarthy wasn’t the only person Smug reported, not by a long shot.
A couple months ago in May, Smugnurse posted a video TikTok update about her deteriorating health. At that point she’d only had her stroke, but not yet the painful hallucinations. You can see from the radical change in her features and body composition that the stroke was not the only health issue she was struggling with. Smug looks like a completely different nurse:
Smug had a cerebellar / brainstem stoke, like this one:
Here is her June 30th update, the one I reported on last week. Despite Kaleigh’s awful behavior during the pandemic, and the manifest suffering she caused to people trying to warn others not to take the shots, it’s impossible not to feel sympathy for what she’s going through now:
Surgical debridement after a craniectomy does not sound like anything anybody would wish even on their worst enemy.
To be clear: I am praying that Kaleigh has a full, quick, and miraculous recovery that confounds her doctors and testifies to the great glory of God. I also pray this experience opens her hardened heart, and helps her find a more secure spiritual home and something greater to put her trust in besides man’s efforts.
Kaleigh is a single mom. I pitched in on her GoFundMe this morning:
🔥 Yesterday, NATO leaders attended their annual meeting in Vilnius, right on Ukraine’s border, to discuss, among other things, Ukraine’s potential membership in the Western defense alliance. Had Ukraine been admitted, it would have meant instant World War. Ukraine’s president and former comedian Zelenskyy was invited — but refused to come unless he was provided assurances that Ukraine’s membership would be strongly considered.
He attended. But NATO did not admit Ukraine, and Zelenskyy was mad. From Epoch Times:
From the New York Post:
This official picture from the event, displaying Zelenskyy dressed in Fidel Castro-chic, the only man not wearing a suit, is worth a thousand words, as they say:
I used to think maybe Zelenskyy, now a billionaire, just didn’t have any suits. But with a little searching I discovered he has plenty of them. It turns out he’s just a lazy slob. Here’s one example of a suited Zelenskyy from 2020:
In other NATO-meeting news, Joe Biden skipped the official NATO dinner last night. He was there, but the White House said his “tough schedule” prevented him from attending the official state function along with the other NATO leaders. Think about that for a second. Biden is the nominal leader of NATO. He’s the leader of the leaders.
But Biden was a no-show not, mind you, because of any specific conflict, but just generally because of his “tough schedule.”
“Tough” is relative. Maybe this article from the Mayo Clinic’s website sheds some light on Biden’s mysterious disappearance from dinner:
I’m not saying anything. I’m just saying. So are others:
🇺🇸 Finally, an uplifting local story to put some gas in your Wednesday tank. It all started when veteran Pastor Rick’s middle grandson was upset by his school’s complete failure to mention Memorial Day because the school was so wound up in its “pride” celebration. So the young man wore flag pants and a flag as a cape to school. He went viral because unpatriotic school officials forced him to take off the flag and hide it in his locker.
There were also reports (unconfirmed) that other students tried to put “pride” stickers on him and his friends.
So, after spending a day cape-less, the oppressed young patriot went home and came up with a new plan. Here’s what he wore to school the next day (video at the link):
That child has bright prospects. We look forward to observing his future progress with great interest.
Have a wonderful Wednesday! And come on back, ya’ll, for another action-packed roundup tomorrow morning.
