Yes, I was a kid and it was scandalous. But that was not the worst one. He had another one more recently where young people were being questioned on video by an unseen man in what appeared to be a cheaply paneled basement. Truly bizarre and disturbing. Something is wrong with a “designer” that thinks that’s ok. It’s one thing to be provocative, and another to suggest p*dophilia and/or child abuse.

Tillamook uses high fructose corn syrup. Otherwise, it's not bad.

I got started on Blue Bell Ice Cream when I moved to Texas a couple of years ago. Then I read the ingredients and discovered it also has HFCS.

Remarkably, the HEB house brand is just as good, maybe better, and uses cane sugar. Win win!

I am sorry for those who don't have access to an HEB. What a great store and back story.

That being said, if you don't live in Texas (sorry), you can make your own ice cream without all the chemicals, or seek out a local source. It's so much fun to go "out" for ice cream, especially with children. Summer's coming!

Right! It satisfies your sweet-tooth w a smaller serving because of all the additives and processing that is in most “ice creams” now. Almost all purchased ice cream has emulsifiers and or gums. Those are very bad for your gut. However, when I research trying to make my own ice cream, I discovered that every heavy whipping cream in the store also has some kind of emulsifier or gum in it. Over time I’ve checked every store in my town, I can’t find a single, emulsifier free, heavy cream.

None of these countries cares what things cost. I taught at a university in Saudi Arabia for 8 years, 1979 to 1988. The waste even back then was mind boggling. I had bought myself an IBM Selectric typewriter for $1,000, quite a luxury at that time. One day a co-worker showed me a warehouse room that was absolutely full of non-working IBM Selectrics, at least 100+ of them. I'm not sure why they were there because NOTHING got repaired, ever, it was just a typewriter mortuary. They just threw expensive things away when they broke, no such thing as repair shops for anything. We would also see abandoned BMW's, Mercedes etc. on the roadside, left there because they broke down. The prior owners went and bought a new car. And that's where they remained until they got rusty and we once saw an abandoned Rolls Royce half buried in the drifting sands. It was amazing to witness the utter waste. We had a copy machine in my department that was really needed, and I did simple repairs on it myself to keep it running. Replacing it would have taken forever, so I was motivated to fix it! My Saudi and other Middle Eastern co-workers thought I was extremely weird to be repairing it.
