For if God did not spare angels who sinned, but cast them into the pit and delivered them to chains of darkness, being kept for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter; and if He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds), then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who go after the flesh in its corrupt lust and despise authority.

Love the Legacy Standard Bible!

Expand full comment
Margot Wooster's avatar

I had never heard of this version. I looked it up, and the website says: "The Legacy Standard Bible is a direct update of the NASB 1995 edition and fundamentally endeavors to uphold it. The translators went back to the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek of every verse in order to double check its accuracy. Any changes made strictly revolved around providing greater consistency in word usage, accuracy in grammatical structure, and tightening phrasing. Sometimes these changes will incorporate what was found in the earlier NASB ’77 edition. However, if no update was needed, then the text was left as originally translated by the NASB ’95. Thus, as opposed to a brand new translation, the LSB is truly designed to be a legacy edition. It is a version that honors and upholds the NASB tradition, and endeavors to more fully implement its translation philosophy."

I remember Precepts Bible Studies used the NASB, and that was the first Bible study I ever did (the book of Romans) - and God saved me at the age of 43!

Expand full comment
Words Beyond Me Janice Powell's avatar

I had not heard of it either until about a year ago and have since been bouncing back and forth between it and the NAS. Thankfully my Bible app (Literal Word) includes the LSB, along with NAS, KJV, and ESV. Makes for easy and interesting comparisons on the translations of various words.

Tillamook uses high fructose corn syrup. Otherwise, it's not bad.

I got started on Blue Bell Ice Cream when I moved to Texas a couple of years ago. Then I read the ingredients and discovered it also has HFCS.

Remarkably, the HEB house brand is just as good, maybe better, and uses cane sugar. Win win!

I am sorry for those who don't have access to an HEB. What a great store and back story.

That being said, if you don't live in Texas (sorry), you can make your own ice cream without all the chemicals, or seek out a local source. It's so much fun to go "out" for ice cream, especially with children. Summer's coming!

None of these countries cares what things cost. I taught at a university in Saudi Arabia for 8 years, 1979 to 1988. The waste even back then was mind boggling. I had bought myself an IBM Selectric typewriter for $1,000, quite a luxury at that time. One day a co-worker showed me a warehouse room that was absolutely full of non-working IBM Selectrics, at least 100+ of them. I'm not sure why they were there because NOTHING got repaired, ever, it was just a typewriter mortuary. They just threw expensive things away when they broke, no such thing as repair shops for anything. We would also see abandoned BMW's, Mercedes etc. on the roadside, left there because they broke down. The prior owners went and bought a new car. And that's where they remained until they got rusty and we once saw an abandoned Rolls Royce half buried in the drifting sands. It was amazing to witness the utter waste. We had a copy machine in my department that was really needed, and I did simple repairs on it myself to keep it running. Replacing it would have taken forever, so I was motivated to fix it! My Saudi and other Middle Eastern co-workers thought I was extremely weird to be repairing it.

The robins have a nest in front and they are chasing the squirrels away from their tree.

Also, early this morning I watched a mother rabbit make her new nest in my front flower bed. It's a good protected location. New life. Ten years ago this morning my Mother passed here at home at age 97. I'll be planting some flowers in her honor today.

I love watching the big squirrels and birds in our yard. But the ground squirrels/chipmunks are the bane of my existence. They burrow holes all over my beds and chew to the ground anything beautiful that I plant, even entire large hostas! They destroyed a family of foxgloves I planted two years ago as well as an army of liriopes and every lupine I planted two years ago as well (about 20 of them). Not one returned after being chewed down so ravenously. And annual flowers rarely have a chance unless I plant 10x the amount needed for the effect. I started germinating my own seeds of impatience and petunias to be able to afford the amount I needed over the past few years because I had to plant about 400 to get the coverage I wanted AFTER the snacking damage. But this year I am using only pots and hanging baskets. It won’t be as pretty as my yard usually is with large swaths of color, but hopefully I’ll be able to enjoy the splashes here and there if they don’t get eaten.

I live in the mountains so we of course have squirrels. A very little one showed up a couple of months ago, and he gets onto my bird feeder to have a snack. We call him "Peanut" after the squirrel Biden's people assassinated. He's very good at flying from our deck rail up to the feeder. We don't care because we like to watch him. Adorable little guy.

Juju - I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure your yard was very pretty with all those flowers. The squirrels I have here are only a nuisance when they eat all the bird seed I put out, so I throw ear corn out for them. Some tend to bury the kernels all over, and in my pots. I have corn sprouting all over.

I've not heard of ground squirrels burrowing. Maybe the chipmunks do. I have had a mole problem in the past, and they do burrow and destroy some kinds of flower bulbs. In my front I have a stand of purple coneflowers, but now they don't get enough sun, and there is a vine invading them which I need to get rid of. That's where the rabbit put her nest this morning.

Thank you for sharing and good luck with your flowers.

Our neighborhood is full of Oak trees (which is lovely for shade) which means it's squirrel manor. Hubby planted 100 crocus bulbs in our front yard one Fall as a surprise for me in the spring. Evidently the squirrels sat up in the trees and watched. Spring rolls around and there were random clumps of crocuses coming up - in the middle of our back yard! Evidently they dug up the bulbs, and then squirreled them away for later in the back!? We also can't grow tomatoes or peppers as they steal them all and of course raid our bird feeders non stop. Yeah they can be cute and fun to watch but they are also a big pain.

Juju, Our family didn't always have food to put on the table, so my mother would let my brothers know they needed to help... They'd kill 6-8 squirrel and we would have fried squirrel with rice and gravy and veggies of some sort for dinner. I had great beef, pork and chicken to compare it to... it was delicious! I could skin a squirrel in my sleep, I watched it so often. Haven't had it since I was 12 or 14, but I remember. My mother always said, a squirrel is a rat with a furry tail. She was no fan unless it was our dinner.

2. And, the "gifted" (to the Defense Dept) plane is also a Boeing I think, a newer model, and anything custom will be gone over with a fine tooth comb, at least I hope so.

3. It's possible this is a another pushback on China, who is the most obvious case of a government that would benefit from Boeing having issues, at least if you believe The Epoch Times' op eds, who reported on that a while back, and again during the this current tariff battle.

Disagreements but no screaming. Well that didn't last long. A screeching senator essentially accused him of killing black women with health cuts while others wanted narcon cans in every purse. Somehow no Dem seemed curious why we have such poor health outcomes. It is like needing to fill the pool everyday with no curiosity of why this is so. And it is clear that the Dems want the social welfare basket to be as big as the Grand Canyon because they have no plan to create self earned prosperity.
