It has been insidious. My dad mentioned it when I was in high school, but I didn’t see it until my senior year when I researched a paper on apartheid. (Not that I agree with apartheid.) My government teacher made me write a pro-apartheid term paper. While my paper’s stance didn’t change my mind, it certainly opened up my eyes to how biased media was and how they fed the public the beliefs they wanted people accept. A research paper in college confirmed the media bias. I was never able to turn back after that. Now I don’t believe pretty much anything the media claims.
EXACTLY - Thankfully we have 'alternative news sources" now...as a result of the Internet......another + for Internet usage (most of my friends my age (70+) do not engage on the Internet much at all. I find that rather "narrow minded"--but "to each his/her own"!
I wish we had other emoticons on this platform than "like"....as I definitely do NOT like the path our nation has taken in the past 5 decades.
