CLARIFICATION/ERRATA:

β€” A number of British C&Cers have chimed in over their dismay at the Labour election, for which I do not blame them. Many have pushed back on today's post arguing that Labour opposed mandates. A couple clarifications are in order:

1) Labour's electoral landslide is almost certainly bad news for Britain, from a conservative perspective. It'd be like a Democrat party takeover here.

2) Labor party members β€”identified as suchβ€” did oppose NHS mandates in Britain, although it is a generalization to say the party opposed mandates. That was not its official platform. E.G.: https://www.politicshome.com/news/article/vaccine-passports-nhs-vote-labour-rebels

3) The best comparison to U.S. politics would be to say the Republicans opposed vaccine mandates. That is true, but the GOP was on board to start, and most of the opposition was never a formal part of the party platform but came most strongly from Freedom Caucus "rebels."

I suspect a lot of folks would be irritated if I ever wrote "the Republican party opposed mandates." So I don't blame our British cousins. I should have been more nuanced.

4) My point, however, stands. Though it might be more accurate to say the election was less about rewarding Labour than punishing the Conservatives, who were indisputably responsible for Britain's over-reaction. In fact, it makes me (partly) happy the Republicans were in the wilderness during Biden's first two years.

Post updated to include this errata.

The Labour party stood for locking down earlier, harder and longer. They are not a party who opposed vaccine mandates - with this majority they will be an authoritarian nightmare. If you think Biden has done a bad job in relation to individual freedom, immigration, energy policy and the economy, the labour party have just said β€œhold my beer”.

My first response when one of my friends posted about Labor winning was β€œsh**.” Then I read Jeff’s newsletter and thought perhaps I was wrong. Now, you’ve confirmed my earlier response as being correct. This makes me very sad.

unfortunately in that sense an absolute majority of Labour or Democrats is an "oh sh**. " At least here we can count on the Republicans to somewhat hold it together, though we will need to kick out some of the RINOs.

In my opinion the election results in France and the UK are more of a protest vote against the ruling party than support for the opposition party's platform. Sort of like voting against your current representative than in favor of the other side

I saw an interesting post on X where Reform + Con= 38% of the votes, Labor =34%. So still mostly right leaning and this was a spanking of the Davos influence on the Con Party (we know that group, the Champagne swilling, mandate making, sneering and patronizing, war hungry, corporation lovers).

As an American that closely follows British politics (I've spent alot of time over there), the large Labour victory is not good but it's not a large approval of the Labour Party itself. Labour's victory of ~9m votes is less than they lost with during the last election. Their victory is a product of the First Past The Post system and a rejection of the Globalist Tories who have done nothing for 14 years, though the manner in which they rejected them is a bit non-conventional.

The UK doesnt have the money to implement the type of policies Labour would want to enact. Labour is also fractured, not unlike liberals in the US, between hard left and more moderate liberals. Starmer also has no real plans or policy that he's campaigned on so with no policies, no money and divisions among the party, it's not quite the slam dunk some are fearing. Some are even saying it's unlikely he lasts the 5 years.

Their subscribers: a small minority (including me) are appalled at the JAMA’s (NEJM is even worse, if possible) descent into woke leftist pseudo scientific blathering about topics that physicians and medical scientists have no particular expertise in but not surprised, as we have seen it coming & gathering steam since the R v W now extinct decision; the large majority of docs are OK with it, as they have been indoctrinated into wokeness from undergrad school at least & the push to feminize the profession has had the med school faculty and admissions committees and administrators all singing leftist feminazi chorus (at least until transgender medicine became a thing and was found to be profitable.). Oh Lord, how I grieve for my once honorable (though always imperfect and conflicted) profession.

The contributors don’t think, most write whatever the drug company reps tell them to & tweak their study designs to make the results look better than reality.

The profession needs to be taken down to the studs, if not the foundation and rebuilt (The FLCCC Alliance & others are attempting that even now in the wake of the Fauci treason against the profession, the country, and humanity.)

Dr Kimber, one of my daughters is a first year OBGYN resident (actually now 2nd year, technically). She was the only one of my kids who seemed to listen to me and/or decide on her own no clot-shot. As a medical student they were recruited to administer that poison at mass-shot set ups. Last I spoke with her regarding the matter she said she’d had intense pressure put on her to acquiesce. I’ve been afraid ever since to ask if she relented (my other 2 kids did, sadly). She’s a very bright, good hearted soul. Any sage β€˜been-there’ advice I can convey to her? Her original intent was to do a reproductive endocrinology fellowship in order to β€œhelp people have babies who can’t otherwise”.

I can give you all kinds of substacks where mother and babies are dying from the jabs! When I was pregnant in 90 and 93, we were advised not take anything since it could hurt the baby. I developed a rare liver issue where my liver quit processing correctly because of the pregnancy. It lasted until the moment I delivered and started in the beginning of my second trimester. It got worse the closer I got to my delivery date.I could not take the medication as advised by the doctors, my OBGYN! Now with all the incentives from insurers they only care about the money. She needs an honest discussion about this, otherwise she will be forced to push these deadly jabs! So why join the other murderers! Sorry to be blunt, but this is where we are now.
