Gotta wonder why that baby is wandering.

We used to say the same. Then became parents. If you are a parent you know they can be Houdinis. No matter how many fences or gates, little tykes only need one second of โ€œhoney I thought it was your turn. ..โ€

Mine figured out how to slip out of his high chair, over an armchair that SHOULD have blocked his escape, but didn't, and crawled into the kitchen for a visit while I was prepping his num nums.

I was intrigued, so I set up a tripod to film catch his Houdini act.

Genius, this kid. ๐Ÿ˜ Still have the tape. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Am a parent and fortunately never had that problem.

Me neither but it does seem to depend a lot on the childโ€™s personality. Some are just prone to running off and exploring or hiding or whatever.

You can claim that for bonus points in the right crowd, but not here... lol. I'm here to tell you, we had a Houdini! Was out gardening one cold day with my 18 month old by my side. She was tasked with handing me the small seedlings to plant. So, we worked in tandem, until we didn't... then poof, she was gone. I immediately began praying that God would keep her safe and bring her back. (That's how I work). We were blessed with a much older neighbor who immediately ran over to help me find her... She checked all the houses with pools while I ran around searching everywhere I thought she could hide. I was about to call 911 when I saw a small child walking up our street with two adults following along behind. I broke into a run towards her, calling out her name. She was wet and muddy from head to toe, had a scratch over her eye and was thrilled to see me. The couple started to explain that they'd "found her wandering in the creek, found a tick on her," and "she started walking this way"... our daughter knew her way home. Go figure! She told me a cat had scratched her, she walked into the creek, and was wet and cold. (A very verbal 18 month old). She had gotten a mile away from home! Gone 45 long, frightening minutes.

Thankfully, she never did that again. But there were other adventures that boggle the mind...lol

Babies do that. It only takes a moment of distraction.

Iโ€™m very glad I live way out in the Bojacks for that very reason. But my two year old grandson still made my daughter run like a track star last week.

Same way someone can fall asleep driving or lose conciseness from a disease or be taking care of one immediate emergency only to have another accident or get stressed, distracted, overwhelmed and exhausted. Don't knock it until you've heard all the evidence. Great parents aren't ALWAYS in control of all their circumstances!! Yup I'm pss'd when ppl judge innocence before proven guilt!

To me it looks like a camp sight where there would be little and slow moving traffic. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
