RFK Jr. Talked about the “drugification” (my word :) of America and related some of it to all the ads run by the pharmaceutical industry on TV, and, I presume, social media. New Zealand and the US have the highest amount of pharmaceutical advertising in the world. But we can see in our own country that doesn’t lead to healthier people. In fact, outcomes are worse. A pill for everything that ails us is not the way.

I'm old enough to remember when drug adverteasing started and thinking OH my!! They have money to make telling the patient to "ask your Dr" for this that and EVERY MEDICATION!!

In 1985, our ever-helpful FDA ended the ban on mass media advertising for prescription drugs. Several offices were nicely redecorated on K Street that year.

Didn't know that. Just by coincidence, I believe it was in '86 when Congress passed the law(s) that shield Pharmakeia from any and all legal action for their products and behaviour

Yep. I like free speech, but the promotion of pharmaceuticals needs to be reined in. Constantly pounded with infomercials about disease (asymptomatic even!), the odds are we’ll psych ourselves into hypochondriacs, if we haven’t already. “Ask your doctor” is code for “get drug dependent” and “let us inject you with our unsafe and ineffective vax.”

Reasonable….and do you notice how the drug commercials feature the most attractive, happy people…carefree and enjoying life to the fullest? See? Take this wonderful drug and you can be just like them!

That’s a fact. Ad agencies are getting ever more slick, sick, and twisted.

There was a day advertising prescription drugs was against the law. I can't remember which of our darling leaders fucked that up for us.
