Even before covid my doctor's office had a box of masks at the reception desk with a sign that said, if you are coughing, please wear a mask in the waiting area. Guess that makes sense. Odds were about 50/50 my (now grown) kids would come down with something within a week after their physicals due to sitting in the waiting room with kids who were sick. (they later divided the area in 2 -one side for sick, the other side for well visits) But that is the sick person covering up their germ spreading ability for a short time (OK you hope it's short...your waiting room experience may vary.) Not sure how much protection those things are for people who are worried about catching something. though.

I don’t either, but I feel so bad for those with leukemia and other serious illnesses because I’ve seen them abused by the anti-maskers. Mostly verbal, and hand gestures, but once even physically removed from a mid-teen (bald, no less) who ended up in tears. Tyranny works both ways.
