Hubby and I have pretty much given up on “contemporary” Christian music. We just can’t participate in 99% of it. Even how it’s presented nowadays with the fog machines and staging like you’re at some concert rubs me the wrong way. I know that makes me sound curmudgeonly, but it is just so off.

Especially since we were raised in our journey of faith on the old classics found in hymnals. Songs like “And Can it Be”, “Wonderful Grace of Jesus”, “O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing”, or “Be Thou My Vision”. Even the praise songs from our Calvary Chapel days in the 70’s (the ministry that led us to Christ) had much better stuff. Most of their worship songs were entirely lifted from scripture passages. And what from today’s church could compare to Handel’s Messiah?
There is one guy we found years ago who put out one of the most glorious Christian albums we’ve ever heard. Kemper Crabbe is his name. The album was called The Vigil. It has a medieval flavor to it, a mix of old songs and ones he wrote. You can find it on YouTube. So worshipful and beautiful it can move you to tears.

Great version of “Wonderful Grace of Jesus” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhSOnw8a_AI.
I’ve seen him before. Great harmonies and I love Acapella stuff. Thanks for the rewind. 👍🏻
