That’s terrible, Anne. How does your mother feel about that? I must say, your brother sounds both arrogant and ignorant. However, I apologize for insulting someone in your family.

My brother is an angry atheist. He and my mother had an "interesting" relationship. He was her favorite and he got probably $75,000 from her before her death (in July 2020). He was in charge of funeral arrangements (long story) and he basically had her body delivered to the cemetery and put in the ground. I was not there, but I bought a beautiful fresh flower arrangement and put it on her grave the next day. There were no other flowers. I also wrote a very nice obituary which honored her. She was a difficult person, but I did my best to take care of her. Regarding my brother, I hold onto Romans 12:18, "If possible, as far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all men."
“As far as it depends on you” is the key phrase in this verse. I used to think it meant that as a Christian I had to take responsibility for every difficult relationship. You can only do so much & leave the rest to God. Your gestures at your mother’s death were lovely.
