She was amazing - most people at our church considered her their "grandma"! The sanctuary would have been packed to the rafters, but of course the church was closed due to "King" Inslee's mandates. I am still having trouble forgiving church leaders for not standing up for the congregation's right to assemble, like Pastor Artur Pawlowski (sp?) in Canada. Pretty sure there aren't any Bonhoeffers in WA state.
I fell upon the Trucker protest, then remained glued, for weeks, to laptop screen while I washed draperies, windows et alia, having fallen into awareness of this movement, following from watching Jordan Peterson, and thus having witnessed Jordan Peterson tearfully announce that while previously, he had said he didn’t believe in God, but thought it necessary to behave as if he did so believe (….???), he now believed. From there I discovered Pastor Artur. And his experience with lawfare. [Side note: daughter and her husband became Canadian citizens this fall…..she laughed at having had to swear allegiance to King Charles, given that her forebears arrived here 404 years ago to escape the monarchy, with its insistance on supporting the Church.] Perhaps there were not any Bonhoeffers in 2020-21 in WA State, but do you suppose that from this dearth, a new descent may arise? Certainly it appeared to me, as I became a regular reader of C&C, and other Substacks, that I might be witnessing yet another Great Revival in America. I note increasing presence of the Christian viewpoint in blogs and comments on Substack—I have only been here since, perhaps, spring of 2021
Via, I would hope that there is a revival going on, that the last four years were enough of a wake up call to the comfortable Christian class that citizenship requires diligence, not out-sourcing. That we have to remain strong in our stance for what is Biblically right, not culturally right. I have attended the same church for 50 years (this fall) and I cannot even properly articulate how disappointed I am in the way the leaders just closed up the church and waited for Gov. Inslee to tell them they could open up again. Our nephew's church in PHX was one of only two churches in PHX that stayed open during the scamdemic. Their church attendance exploded - they had to go to three services and then they had to find a larger church property, for which they paid cash! Our church has gone from five services on Sat/Sun on two campuses, to two services on Sunday.
I am very grateful to have found Substack (through my doctor and Alex Berenson) and all the wonderful folks gathering here to encourage and lift up one another! It truly has been a balm to my soul! God has been gracious to provide a community where I can recharge my batteries, so that I can continue to interact with those around me who are so lost in the darkness.
A grandma reaching 100—but for 3 weeks, and then no real gathering of those who loved her.

Ask your church what they are doing to celebrate the 250th of 1776. It's a great opportunity for public education.
That is a great idea!
