Lol…yes, the DNA was a surprise because my grandma always denied having Indian blood. Found her dad’s actual handwritten application for the Dawes Roll and I have copies of it. She listed my grandpa (her husband) as white on his death certificate. I have a copy. Seriously, the man looks like he would be comfy with a headdress of feathers astride a horse. But..there was stigma attached to being Native back in those days.
