Funny a friend sent me a post from X this morning, and while there, saw that President Carter was trending. I thought, oh no...but instead, it's because he will be 100 on October 1st and said he wants to live long enough to vote for Kamala.
I was in older elementary/jr high during the Carter years and it was a rough time economically for our family. There was a sense that we were on the downhill trajectory in the US and the hostage situation was humiliating. So we've been down before and came back fighting. Only hope history can repeat itself.
On a serious note, are the Republicans doing anything about forcing individual states to clean up their voter registration lists--removing dead people ? I think Ohio is, but is anyone else?
No because they are just the other wing of the same bird. They sound good but actions speak louder and there really isn’t any action! I want Dems and Reps gone!
There hs been some serious workalong these lines. Trouble is, in the dirty states, even when the evidence is presented (two hundred fifty voters registered at the same address in North Portland, a site visit reveals the "residence" is the remains of a fifties vintage double wide mobile home with one end and about half of the adjacent side GONE, part of the roof collapsed, no electricity or water service. Not what quaoifies as a "residence", and certainly not for 250 "voters".) those who have the "authority" to deal with such things are too busy making things "equitable", and "including" as many as they can(concentrating on voter rolls....) and being very "diverse" in what counts for what where and why.
So yes and no, accurately answer your question.
I also know that Project Veritas documented some REALLY skanky goings on in Minnesota amongst the M people.... folks should have gone to jail but won't.
Supposedly MO is. Jay Ashcoft, our SOS, is running for governor so he is going full on election integrity moves NOW, although he was lame in 2020. Suppose he thinks we've forgotten. I haven't.
That's the thing. Many republicans too are involved in the plot to destroy the US from within. People still proclaim "the democrats did this and that!" Folks, we don't have two political parties. It is all theater.
😂😂😂made me laugh y’all! Jimmy Carter? That was a bad time! And I was through high school and college. Working as Real Nurse!! 🤭that was funny and if I had coffee I would have made it rock a little!!
I, too, was in grade school during those years. I remember my mama picking us up from school and saying that we needed to stop for gas. Big groans! The silver lining was, it was the only time I could read in the car and not get carsick! 😁 I read a lot of books sitting in those gas lines.
Mrs. "the Knife"
P.S. Now that I am thinking about it, I wonder why she didn't go sit in the gas lines after dropping us off in the morning? She probably had big, important grown-up stuff to do. Or maybe, she thought it would teach us patience? 😂🤣
You read books in your childhood?! The shock and horror of that. Just joking. I'm still a reader. When we had testing at the end of 7th grade to see where you placed in subjects like English class, I graded at 12th grade, 7 months. We were taught to spell by phonetics. My sister who is 6 years younger was taught memorizing spelling words. Girl can't spell for nothing. Not much of a reader either.
Yes! My folks got rid of the t.v. when I was 2 years old, so my siblings and I grew up without a t.v. We were taught to read using the phonics system and all read voraciously, so much so that we were testing at the college level by the time 5th grade rolled around. On one of my report cards in 5th grade, my teacher wrote, "She is a pleasure to have in class, but she races through her school work so that she can pull out her books and read!"
I was working as a petroleum dispensing engineer at that time, came to work at 5am every morning only to see the same idiot first in line to top off his tank.....his car never took any more than gallon of gas. We finally put in place a minimum purchase of three gallons. Problem solved!
So, how does one make sure a car will take more than three gallons before they start filling? Or, were they charged for three gallons even if they only got one gallon?
We told them before we pumped the gas that they would be charged for 3 gal . We had to eliminate the morons that were just topping off their tanks and creating lines around the block. It was a crazy time and dangerous too! We had to walk down the line of cars and stop people from getting in line because we sold our allocation for the day. One guy pulled a pistol on me because I wouldn't let him in line. Needless to say....I let him in line.....crazy shit....for a few gallons of gas...ya think!!!
Carter has learned nothing. He used Christianity and now he supports depravity, decadence, debasement and degradation. Kind of like the D.O.E. which carter started. Just another nail in the destruction of America.
Wow, I'd forgotten. DOEducation is certainly a betrayal of our future. Without American History , Civics, Western Civilization...our children have no sound understanding of the genius and values of the Founders of our Constitutional Republic and have no rebuttals to the deviant ideologies they encounter in college and/or the workplace. Insidious tactics against our children.
to paraphrase, "give me your children and I don't care about you" lenin or stalin or some other communist garbage. They captured the schools. Just like they've captured virtually everything else.
I remember being in gas lines and also being able to buy gas on certain days off the week... Even or odd, based on the license plate number. It was awful!!!!!
I think you're right. This story says that Nixon imposed price controls because of the spike in prices from the decreased production coordinated by OPEC. But then:
"By the Iranian oil crisis in 1979, the controls had grown unsustainable as oil prices escalated in global markets. With lines forming once again and fistfights breaking out at the pump, President Carter quickly waived most of the controls on oil and gas prices to make more fuel available. The resulting sharp price increases ushered in a new nightmare: double-digit inflation, as businesses quickly passed on their higher fuel costs and workers’ unions demanded cost- of-living increases to keep pace with higher prices. The surge in inflation put the Federal Reserve in crisis mode. It ordered its largest-ever increase in interest rates in October 1979, plunging the economy into a deep recession."
I've bought gas for 9 cents a gallon. There were price wars among gas stations. I remember riding around in my best friend's dad's T-Bird, and scraping for coins on the floor so we could buy gas because it got around 9 mpg. It wasn't unusual to buy a dollar's worth.
Yep. We drank powdered milk and also ate this meat-ish product called "soybean burger mix." Did anyone else eat this? I don't think I minded it so much, but it was a luxury to have 100% beef hamburger when I was a kid.
We mixed powdered milk and whole milk to make it stretch when I was a kid. I recently did the math with current prices and powdered milk works out to a similar price per gallon as fresh. Same with SPAM which comes out around $5/lb. which is more than many pork cuts. Sometimes we only THINK we are being frugal!
Economically horrible. But at least we felt confident we could wait it out and the next election would fix it. It did. And everyone still knew what a woman was.
As pointed out in one of Tucker's interviews, Democrats don't know who a woman is and say gender is fluid, but we're supposed to vote for Commiela for her huge accomplishment of being a woman.
I bought my first property in northern California in 1972. Interest for the new loan was 2.2%, and I was able to assume an earlier loan (about half the total) at 1.7%. The rental incom from the tiny shack outback covered the entire mortgage on the big house and store building. Those were the days... wish I'd never sold that place. I'm told by some who now know the area it would probably fetch close to seven figures. My price to buy was about $12K. Would have been the est retirement plan ever.
Of course, to have kept it I would almost certainly have continued to live in that forsaken corrupt insane state. No price or profit could induce me to go back. The Gabbling Nuisance is only a small part of why.
Bought a car with a loan. Actually made money on it. But trying to find a job was really hard. Miserable but amazing time. It led to President Reagan the 1980’s, victory in the Cold War. Let’s hope we can do it again.
I wonder if your great aunt realized that in 1983, Joe Biden voted to tax Social Security. Then, in 1993, he voted to raise the tax on Social Security from 50% to 85%. This is according to a tweet by. Rep. Thomas Massie.
I lived in Philadelphia and we well remember his phony oil shortage. In those days Philly was a major oil port on the Delaware River. At the time he was crying there was no oil we would drive across the bridge from Philly to NJ and see the oil tankers lined up all the way down the river to the Chesapeake bay as far you could see. Unable to dock and unload because of Carter’s phony war on oil.
sort of like the ake-believe debacle in California's conainer ports a couple years back. all of them directly falling from new laws the eedjits in that forsaken state had voted for as ballot initiatives.... that hardly anyone bothered to READ, let aline ponder the consequences thereof.
Carter was delusional as he sat in his sweater in the oval office trying to guilt trip us into turning down our thermostats while regular folk couldn't buy or sell without SELLER-FINANCED loans.
The Left has always been out of touch with reality. And always will because their entire world view is based on "feelings", not facts.
But never forget how proud our country became once again in the 80's under Reagans leadership.
Thats exactly when proto-TDS began. They claimed Reagan, just as Trump, was the antichrist and was going to blow up the world. All fiction and feelings removed from facts and reality.
as if "the antichrist" was ever an individual that could DO anything. Silly people. go and read Jphn's three references to that term.
It simply describes anyone who is agains Christ as opposed to for, and thus serving, Him. That whole business is more of the rotten fruit of Cyrus Scofield.
Do they really think that because Carter wants to vote for Harris that’s going to impress us? There’s a lot of us out there who remember what a rotten president he was. So not surprising he would vote for the evil cackle queen.
I was in junior high school during the Carter years and our school had to close because of the energy crisis and we were busses to a 100 year old building that still had a coal fueled boiler. This was also during the big blizzards in the Midwest. It WAS a very bleak time. He needs to pass away already.
Our society is much more depraved now than it was in the 70’s when Carter was president. Yes, some things improved and others devolved. We are still in a downward trajectory. I think we can fix some of the problems currently facing us. However, that depends much upon how our current elections play out. Trump was the first to support trans men competing against women in the Miss Universe pageant. Hopefully, he will keep his campaign promises to women now. Kamala will do her best to destroy whatever is left of traditional American values if she wins through a fraudulent election.
Sadly, we will never see a country again with traditional American values being the mainstay. I think we’ve lost something (traditional family and societal values ) and we will never get it completely back. Do you think shows like Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, My Three Sons etc would ever be top tier shows if they came out today? How many women will happily be stay at home moms?
Can we get schools back to where teaching children subjects like math, science and reading are more important than promoting an agenda? Children aren’t even taught or required to say the Pledge of Allegiance or sing the Star Spangled Banner anymore. They’re not taught to value America and her accomplishments.
Sarahanne, your last point, about education, simply makes the argument for school choice instead of government-run education. Government schools are the experiment, historically speaking, and they have failed miserably.
Can we get schools back to where teaching children subjects like math, science and reading are more important than promoting an agenda?
yes we can. Don't send them to the gummit propaganda and mind-bending machines. Teach them yourself. Since YOU are aware and inteligent enough tto know there is a problem, you are alraedy light years ahead of da gummit sisstum. Reject it, and teach them yourself. You have already proven your results will be far superior to the present gummit methods.
Carter voting for Kamala is strange; Carter never got along with the Clinton family. Carter sees that the Clinton Foundation grew to one of the world’s biggest Foundations in a matter of a couple of handful years by providing access to the American political graft process. Carter won’t vote for Kamala... RFK, jr is more up his alley.
well he is an apparatchik, of course he will vote for Kakala. RFK jr is persona-non-grata for the demoncraps, despite him being more aligned with Carter. But once a dumbocrap, always a dumbocrap
From what I saw of Carter at his wife, Rosalyn’s funeral, he’s not cognitive enough o know who’s running, let alone claim he wants to vote for Kamala.
I was a newly minted married lady during his tenure. I truly liked him for his farming background, and his unabashed Christianity, at a time when we were considered a Christian Nation, but didn’t talk about it. He had a very southern family, slightly off beat, in a time when DC was a club of east coast elites and west coast mafia. He appealed to the common people and his seeming sweetness and charming wife and family took a man no one heard of over the top. Much like DJT with a different set of backers, he got the common guy. I voted for him and that was the first and last Dem I ever voted for.
Was it all a front to take America down a now familiar road, or was Carter allowed to win, only to be pushed aside once in office. He was an outsider, who knew governorship and business, but nothing of the snakepit of DC. Perhaps, I am wrong, but he was caught off guard by what happened to him behind the walls of the White House, and the betrayal in the halls of Congress. He stayed a good soldier, but hated the Clintons and Obama’s.
Was he the worst president? Not by a long shot, but he did not have the hutzpah to battle down those in Washington.
I will say one good thing about Carter, after his presidency, he was part of the Carter-Baker commission which very clearly laid out how vote fraud occurs... and is occurring today. Its "funny" the democrats and RINOs have "memory holed" it.
Didn't we have 'the misery index' during the Carter years? And I remember his 'malaise' speech. Nothing hopeful or optimistic about his entire presidency. No wonder Reagan could win on "It's morning in America" and "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?"
Carter is only hoping that with the installation of Kamala as President, he will drop to the status of third-worse-president. He'd live to see his reputation rise like a shining star.
I remember the gas lines, and I remember my dad getting furloughed from his job. Not laid off, but furloughed, which meant he could be recalled at any minute, which meant no one else would hire him. I remember the entire household being on edge due to my father’s moods, which very nearly turned into divorce. I was a kid and it was a very trying time.
Funny a friend sent me a post from X this morning, and while there, saw that President Carter was trending. I thought, oh no...but instead, it's because he will be 100 on October 1st and said he wants to live long enough to vote for Kamala.

Someone needs to explain to Carter that he will still be voting for Kamala even when he is dead, so go in peace.
This wins today
yep
🤣 Nice one.
at least for this year's election he may have already voted by mail. Besides, in the new US dead people can vote, so long as they vote democrat
well, that worked great for JFK. Seems about six thousand dead Chicagoans voted for him......
Of course, LBJ got in the last and final shot some time later.
Ouch
I was alive, watched all his and more, and old enough to be aware of the history being written.
Looking back I have to count those as "the good ol' days". Sigh....
Yes. I was old enough to be in shock that November day in Dallas Our internal fall has accelerated since.
Yep. The Deep State went in overdrive then and since 11/22/1963.
Sadly it isn't going to happen
Exactly
No, if Oregon removed its dead voters, it would become a red state.

GOOD thing I had already put my coffee cup down before I read this!!!

Bingo
Hahahaha 😂
Well met!
Hahahahaha!
Lol. Good one.

I was in elementary school when Carter was President, but I distinctly remember the gas lines. We waited a couple of hours each time to fill up.
And, we had specific days that we could get gas.
Odd/even gas days. Lines for miles.
All created intentionally
Perhaps the first pandemic Alan? To see how far the American people could be pushed?

Peace, I just looked up price for gas in 1974.....it was average. 53 cents....lol!
I remember the price of .46 as a child. Would have been about the same time.
Isn't that nuts?
The good old days! I could go cruising all night for 5 bucks!🤣🤣
You could have bought dinner for 5 bucks then.
85 cents for a Big Mac in 1974! So 5 Big Macs and small coke 🤔 🤣🤣
Gosh Peace, I honestly don't remember, but I'm pretty sure it was under a dollar.
I distinctly remember him claiming to be Christian. Has there ever been a more anti- Christian group holding the highest offices in the land?
Carter has learned nothing. He used Christianity and now he supports depravity, decadence, debasement and degradation. Kind of like the D.O.E. which carter started. Just another nail in the destruction of America.

gas was 25c a gall when I graduated here in Fl in 73. I was stationed in Germany when Carter won the election.
I've bought gas for 9 cents a gallon. There were price wars among gas stations. I remember riding around in my best friend's dad's T-Bird, and scraping for coins on the floor so we could buy gas because it got around 9 mpg. It wasn't unusual to buy a dollar's worth.

Ridiculous. Nice guy but TERRIBLE President. I assume he still has Secret Service protection, too.
Good question! I never understood why people didn’t “filler up”! 🙄
I remember the Carter misery years.
Purchased a home using my VA benefits and the interest rate was 12%.
New car loans were 16%.
We didn’t have VA benefits. Purchased a home in South Florida in ‘81. The interest rate was 21%. He was the worst president ever until Obama/biden.
I suffered through that same 21% rate. Refinancing could not have come soon enough.
You'd think people wouldn't vote dem just for that reason.
You still in SO FLO? I am working on cashing out of here. As much as I love the place I was raised, it isn't that place anymore.
Economically horrible. But at least we felt confident we could wait it out and the next election would fix it. It did. And everyone still knew what a woman was.

Yes our interest rate when we bought out house in 1990 was 11 3/4%, interest rates were high for a LONG time.
Ours was close to 14% in 1986 and only that, lower than fixed rate, because we picked a 5 year ARM.
SELLER-FINANCED loans back in 80' or pay high teens for for interests.
Miserable times, but we found our way around it by bypassing the system.
I had a 13% mortgage interest rate.
…BUT I purchased a CD that paid 15% interest. Best I can get me is 5%
Bought a car with a loan. Actually made money on it. But trying to find a job was really hard. Miserable but amazing time. It led to President Reagan the 1980’s, victory in the Cold War. Let’s hope we can do it again.
Not going to happen
I was a teenager during the Carter years and I put all my money in a six month CD at 16%. I was able to buy my first car once I cashed it in.
My great aunt loved it, because she said they made “a killing” on their CDs. I think CDs were paying around 15-17%. Oh, she loved Joe Biden, too.
I remember the folks making bank on their CDs.
Yep!! My husband’s grandparents made a killing with those rates!
Some S&Ls, which eventually folded, were paying 21-22 percent. The more risk, the higher the interest rate.
Yes, if you were old enough to already be established, then the high interest rates were a bonanza.
I wonder if your great aunt realized that in 1983, Joe Biden voted to tax Social Security. Then, in 1993, he voted to raise the tax on Social Security from 50% to 85%. This is according to a tweet by. Rep. Thomas Massie.

Same one who gave us pharmaceuticals. Had to use that petro for something besides gasoline for vehicles.

True
I wonder who is writing his X posts? 🤔
The big money for the Clintons has been in selling minors.
Carter just wants a deeper field of worse presidents, so he is not so close to the bottom
Lolol. True!
Gas rationing, odd-even days. I lived in Missouri then.
Didn't we have 'the misery index' during the Carter years? And I remember his 'malaise' speech. Nothing hopeful or optimistic about his entire presidency. No wonder Reagan could win on "It's morning in America" and "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?"
Ahh, the Misery Index was a thing during the Carter Admin. Nice man, incompetent president.
