I think this is why DJT was raised up to be President - to bring justice. He has said "I am your retribution". Blanche is bringing it.

Raul Castro is the Uncle of former Canadian PM Justin Trudeau. Maybe JT can visit him in prison.

Dan L's avatar

I agree Dave, What a fabulous post today from Childers to again help demonstrate how damned hard thus President is working for the American people, our country, our Constitution.

OnTheJump's avatar

You are so right - sure, the guy is NOT perfect ( when anyone here FINDS the perfect individual who has chosen to become involved in the political process, AND run for/ win office - please LET US KNOW ! ), but the effort and organized planning that has taken place..... from a guy who could have understandably simply retired, played golf and sipped Arnold Palmers at the country club pool bar......how many would choose the life he leads at this very moment, OVER a very, VERY, comfortable retirement ?!

I'll say it - Thank you, Donald !

RunningLogic's avatar

I agree! But it always seems funny to me how everyone seems to feel the need to say Trump is not perfect (not calling you out in particular, just noticing how often this phrase comes up, and I admit I’ve done it too). You’re right, he’s not perfect, we’ve never had any President or leader or politician or CEO or anyone like that who is perfect. Heck even all of us “regular people” aren’t perfect 😉 It is kind of a given that no human being is perfect, and yet it always seems to be a necessary caveat spoken by all Trump supporters. Why is that, I wonder? People who supported Obama or Clinton never seemed to feel the need to qualify their praise or support for those presidents with the same words.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

A lot of people lack the courage to get informed, understand the situation, and take a firm position. Its easier to leave an out. Its way past time to take a firm position and stick to it. Trump is simply the best President in my lifetime, perhaps the country's lifetime given the circumstances. Im not going to waiver, Im backing him 100% and everyone should get on board, rid themselves of these evil malcontents we see on here, and the clowns like them elsewhere. They are loud, but they are a minority of Americans. Support him and let him work. The left is going to generate enough hate and delusion.

LMWC's avatar

Just came on to say exactly this: why people must always quantify DJT is not perfect. Did any Dem ever say Obama’s not perfect, but he’s done all this “hope and change”, not naming anything in particular, or Biden’s not perfect, but……

PDJT is doing fantastic things, putting together a coalition that does things without leaking.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

You are spot on correct, LMWC.

Kalinda's avatar

IMO, people say Trump is not perfect because if one happens to be around anyone with TDS or a standard black piller, saying anything positive about Trump results in the maximum twisted words "You just think he is perfect and worship everything he does!" I think people are just trying to head off the "You think he is perfect" when we know he isn't. But that doesn't mean he doesn't do some great things.

No one ever had to say Obama or Clinton weren't perfect because even though they did some really stupid things, if someone said something nice about them the opposing side wasn't crazy so they didn't twist whatever nice thing that was said into "You just think Obama/Clinton is perfect!"

Why on Earth TDS is even a thing is beyond me.

RunningLogic's avatar

Yeah I think you have a point there. The thing is, we can try to head it off all we want, but it won’t change their reaction or how they perceive us. We should be more bold and unapologetic about our support. And maybe we *should* start doing it back at them to see how they react 😆 “Oh you just think Kamala/Walz/Newsom/Bernie/Hakeem (or whoever) is perfect and can do no wrong 🙄 Why do you worship him/her?” 😁

GSDCrino's avatar

I am trying to work on how to respond to these things. We are going to Ireland to see family and they are WAY left and seemingly more about our politics here in the US. We always are grilled about what is happening here and would love to turn it around on them "nicely" since i love them. LOL

Silent scorn's avatar

I think it's because we SEE his shortcomings, RL - and feel a need to CYA before the 'hecklers' target us as foolish, stupid.....or lackeys.

Trump's shortcomings are real, no doubt - not just the gospel of the haters.....but many of us recognize and appreciate the effort he makes and the successes as well....

Probably why his detractors are so hateful, and his supporters so vehement.

He decided to stay in to increase his grift on the US people with folks cheering on the malfeasance of enriching his family's bank accounts. I LOL at the sycophantic responses while this fraud tells you to your face hes a fraud, stealing tax payers dollars for his grift. This "deal" totally obsolves his malfeasance. Does the exact same thing as President cabbage before him by obsolving him of all his current crimes and what he has yet to do...While the trained seals literally clap along to the tax payer grift! Where do you think this money for his family is coming from? Us the taxpayers! But go on believing this guy cares...He is no different than the rest of the grifters that steal from us. Absolutely pathetic you bunch of bootlickers that cannot get out of your own way to see whats truly happening with this fraud. How's that war we are winning? How is all that money and subsequent inflation going to effect us soon enough...Probably dont care because TAW right? That makes you feel good right? While millions suffer the consequences of his grift. He told us all last week he doesnt care...Believe what he says...

Pretty sure SOMEONE was going to be called POTUS, after the November 2024 election. I’ll take the results I see today, over the “WHAT-IF” of a Kamala Harris, ANY day.

That said ? I hear you, and am not entirely thrilled with the man, either - but if you are going to sit there and suggest he has accoplished nothing ( comparing him to “President Cabbage”, did you say?? ) - sorry, but once again - the “perfect politician” lives only in your musings.

Aaron's avatar

My response to the what-if? Is we will never know. But I can almost verify with 💯 certainty that no way in the world would millions be cheering on us dropping bombs on browns again with cackles in there. They needed this cult of personality in there to get the millions of sheep to go along with the master plan. No way would the "middle" have went with cackles on bringing America to it's knees.

I agree there is no perfect politician. Ron Paul was pretty good as was Massie. Folks who actually stand on principle for something. However, as I see here; folks cheering on the complete takeover of our political system by billionaires. Almost all the money used against Massie was from billionaires who didn't even live in his state! Voting was just proved entirely irrelevant with seals clapping along to the complete takeover of our elections. But at least it's not one of those evil Ds right? Both parties are beholden to the Epstein class. Until people wake up to that fact, the further we fall into dystopia. We will all see it soon with this great, fantastic, phenomenal adventure this Pedo just got us into.....

RunningLogic's avatar

Also if you take an average of the super low prices we had for a few months before the higher prices, it is pretty much a wash. Not any higher than they were before and maybe a bit lower than during the Biden administration on average.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

Yep that is precisely correct Running Logic. It's astonishing to me how these clueless liberals can't see that. $10 a gallon gas? Well that is simply gas lighting b******* meant to be divisive not at all constructive but that's the way Liberals are. But for the record I'll take the $10 a gallon gas if it helps Trump re-establish America, make our country great again and stop all of the grifting which has been going on all around the world at the expense of the American people!

RunningLogic's avatar

Also as far as the liberals go, they are being totally disingenuous complaining about high gas prices when 1) they have explicitly said they in the past they WANT high gas prices to discourage the use of gasoline powered vehicles and 2) the governments of Democrat controlled states have done everything possible to increase gas prices 🙄

MMP's avatar

Runninglogic-you have to remember the American mind can only hold things in their feeble minds for so long. People forget that gas prices in 2022 were through the roof-I remember paying $7 per gallon when on vacation in Palm Desert!! And I don't recall being at war with Iran at that time. But they only see what is happening now.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

You must realize they are incapable of objective, rational discourse. They are only capable of subjective "feelings" about everything. Their trainers tell them it feels bad, so in order to hold onto their grift, they are indoctrinated to hate.

RunningLogic's avatar

Which will hopefully actually help if (which is what I hope and expect to happen) gas prices go back down by fall.

David Clark's avatar

Am I the only one who sees the current gas prices as a necessary sacrifice akin to the sacrifices Americans had to make during WW (eleven) II? During that struggle not only gas was rationed but also sugar, butter, cooking oil, meat, nylon, rubber, items made of steel, cars, heating oil, appliances, etc. I think cutting back on non-essential travel, car pooling, walking, or riding a bike, is not too much to ask of Americans so we can destroy the evil Iranian regime. Americans have clearly grown soft and they need some skin the game.

SD Scott's avatar

We also need to refine our own oil.

MnmMom's avatar

Thank you David Clark! Exactly right. Raised by parents who lived through depression, WWII, grandparents who lived through WWI, we have become a very self-centered, drive-through-needing-immediate-pleasure, with immediate-entertainment with not real cost or sacrifice for our lives and children’s lives. That generation struggled and fought against evil, protected our country for the future generations and we have not done enough. Only in comfort and safety does such selfishness develop. God help us to see past the uncomfortableness of hard decisions that have huge impact to help protect our children’s future, our posterity.

RunningLogic's avatar

I agree, that is how I am looking at it too. I also think it’ll be much more temporary than the WWII sacrifices were.

LamedVav disavows all vaxes.'s avatar

Poor Nancy! Bless her heart. She forgot that Biden raised gas up to seven dollars a gallon without any reason.

Dan (100% All in MAGA)'s avatar

CeeMcG's avatar

If you live in one of the Democrats dream 15-minute cities, you don’t need to drive, Nancy. My gas in San Diego is still cheaper than under Biden, and most of the cost is from our oleaginous Dem Governor Newsom, reaming is for every penny.

MnmMom's avatar

Yes!! From a fellow commie-fornian suffer under Newscum, please see videos from Carl Demaio, a real conservative state rep for Cal. He explains how the current cost of fuel in Cali has NOTHING to do w Iran/gulf but everything to do w a grift put in place by democrats, strangle hold on oil from our own state and fees, taxes, and more.

Seeing posts on X yesterday of Chevron posting signs at the pumps that it is Cali legislator that are to blame for driving up the current prices in Cali- that is why it is always more in Cali!

FREEDOM isn't FREE! Sacrificing a bit now, to break-up the corrupt oil cartel and stabilize prices and availability later is not much to ask for!

Marty Kiner's avatar

I believe Walmart allows money to be sent to Mexico at their service desk for a fee. Wonder how much they take in for that service?

S Doherty's avatar

You can wire money overseas through a number of services. I go to Kroger and wire money monthly to a Catholic priest in Kenya who is a personal friend of ours. It's not a lot of money, but it means a lot to him and to his parish. It pays for gas so that he can transport injured or ill villagers to the hospital on his motorcycle - the village's only mode of transportation. It pays for treats for the orphans at Christmas. It helps pay tuition for children who otherwise would not be able to go to school. It helps him to supply families with extra food. We give far more locally to food banks and pro-life organizations, but I don't think it's wrong to extend a hand to people outside our country. You just have to know who you can trust to make good use of the money you send. The people at the front desk at Kroger quiz us every month to make sure we are not being scammed, and I appreciate that!

MnmMom's avatar

This is a wonderful thing you are doing and it is what it was designed for. I would hate to see this kind of giving, like you said not a lot of money, be ended due to criminals who use this to send large amount of $$. But sadly, if we must alter the way support is sent to missionaries doing good work, it would be worth it if we can stop $$ being sent to cartels. We have to stop criminals & terrorists from exploiting this.

Frontera Lupita's avatar

The $$$ you send to your Catholic priest friend in Kenya is a donation, not a ‘remittance’. Like the millions of Latinos are doing sending money to Mexico or their ‘home countries’.

I doubt that it is supporting the Kenyan economy or government.

Matt L.'s avatar

Are you sure that money isn’t being laundered and funneled to ISIS? Asking on behalf of Jeff, who tells us the Western Union $ to Mexico is the lifeblood of the cartels and helps Chinese communists.

Blocked for being a fool, and sticking to it.

S Doherty's avatar

I understand your concerns. There have been times I question what we are doing myself. But ultimately, we do trust him. We know him personally. He keeps is up to date on the political situaion in Kenya. He often sends us photos of himself distributing food to his people, or serving the orphans simple meals at Christmas celebrations. I am always struck by how happy his people seen to be. Their smiles are joyous, despite the drought, the inflation, the poverty. Occasionally we get videos of them thanking us in broken English. I have considered that it would be adding to the evil of ISIS if we turned our backs on the innocent out of fear that the small amount of money we send is being misused.

Mrs. M.'s avatar

If those four young men, that Castro blew out of the sky, were your kids, you may feel differently.

Johnny-O's avatar

The death and misery the US has placed on Cubans doesn't even light a candle this. People are so clueless on the history it is painful - like the US blowing up a civilian airliner for one, killing many more people than 4. Here is some additional context in this interview:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJf5IWVpn_M

kittynana's avatar

@Johnny (again, again, ad nauseum)- I am NOT clueless on the history. My brother in law escaped Cuba along with his family. Believe me when I say they keep a very close eye on how things have progressed over the decades and it's NOT America's doing.

Johnny-O's avatar

Decades of embargoes have nothing to do with any of it? The US is literally starving them of energy. Regular, ordinary people, who the gov will turn around and say we care so much about and need to rescue them. But lets starve the hell out of them first. Monsters.

kittynana's avatar

@Johnny- if Communism is so good, why wasn't the government itself taking care of their people. Put the blame where it belongs and it's not on America.

Asa Plinch's avatar

Thank you for this excellent addition of context. Judge Nap's comments, however, are sometimes off base (" . . . . this guy is 95 and this happened over 30 years ago?!") Yes, "Judge." Same as with WWII war criminals. Of course, I am not suggesting that Castro was a war criminal for shooting down a plane that invaded Cuba's air space with intent to encourage the overthrowing of Cuba's government; I am not going to judge this one way or the other. But background and context should not be ignored.

Mykool's avatar

The US planned Operation Northwoods. Luckily JFK rejected it. The intent was to blow up a US civilian airliner, blame it on Cuba, then invade.

Somehow, people believe in more modern times that the government has suddenly found a conscience. The government was and is corrupt, because that is the true nature of politics. and POLITICIANS.

Arrest a 94 year old for crimes while Netanhellno, arguably the most egregiously corrupt of them all, gets rewarded with billions of US dollars.

Johnny-O's avatar

Yes, it is maddening.

And right now you have people who adored Massie just a year ago, and now he is evil, muslim lover, sexual deviant, oh, of course anti-semitic, nearly forgot that one......

And it looks like he just got 2020'd, and the maga (MIGA) folks are literally cheering about it. It's like covid all over again. Upside down world.

Mykool's avatar

You are spot on. I have trouble forgetting "anti-semitic". It is the most over-used slander, ever. The term has completely lost its currency.

I'm trying to provide context. Do you think the US gov would let the Cubans fly planes over our country and drop pamplets to incite riots and destablize the government? And put that in the context of decades of sanctions and attempted coups...... That isn't defending anyone, it's simply looking at it both ways, which apparently you are unable to do.

People who don't know who really runs the world don't realize that Trump exists because of Rottchild. And everything Trump does, serves Rottchild.

Donald Trump has bombed Iran, Nigeria, Yemen, Venezuela, Iraq, Somalia, and Syria (killing innocent women, children and civilians).

Do you know what those countries all have in common?

They are remaining countries NOT on the Rottchild banking system.

You know who else is NOT on the Rottchild banking system?

Cuba.

Have you seen the videos of the Cuban people desperately begging the World for help? They have NO OIL.

No power, no hospitals, no gas, no food. Cubans are in horrible conditions and crisis and begging the World for help.

Why? Because Donald Trump ordered a blockade to prevent ships from getting oil to Cuba. He is committing the economic genocide of Cuba.

In March '26 Trump stated that Cuba is "going to fall pretty soon".

Yes because Trump is committing the economic genocide of Cuba.

Why????

WTF did Cubans do to deserve Trump KILLING Cuba???

And who benefits?

Politico Phil's avatar

Well, I agree with you JohnnyO but I think we know that these kind of things happen only when it serves the broader agenda. Anyone who thinks this means our two-tier justice system - rules for thee but none for me - is going away is dreaming. In this case, as in Venezuela, Castro's impending arrest further facilitates the implementation of Trump's National Security Strategy which involves kicking China's influence out of our hemisphere.

As for our two-tier justice system, we should remember we STILL have murderous sociopaths walking the streets in America simply because they control so much money. When Bill Gates is charged and arrested for mass murder, then I will have hope that maybe our justice system is changing.

But I do not believe Trump is here to right the justice system for America. Trump is a billionaire oligarch and his allegiance lies with the American oligarch class.

Phil, any assassination attempt can be spun into a conspiracy. Not so much for the poor spectator killed in Butler. You call Trump an oligarch. An oligarch is someone whose wealth, usually gained by suspect means, wields the power to control nation states for great personal gain. Who are generally not known for their philanthropy or goodwill but are oppressive in nature. Trump is a self made man done the legal way. He is owned by no one. He is known to have been a generous benefactor to many employees and random people. Money wise, compared to Musk, Bezos, Gates and the likes, Trump is a pauper. I agree that we have a uniparty. You say Trump leads one faction within it. Wrong! Trump is the antithesis of the Uniparty and it’s exactly this that won him 3 elections. With a handful of exceptions, all of Congress is opposed to him. He is not DC. That’s why they Russia Collusioned him. They impeached him twice, including Republicans. They stole an election from him/us. They indicted him 4 times. And attempted to kill him numerous times. McKinley and JFK attempted the same he is doing and we know what happened to them. Trump is no friend to our government. He’s taking out the trash and they are reacting like cornered animals. God is protecting Trump. Yes, Trump is shaking up the world order. He refuses to bow to the EU, WEF, WHO and is trying to, and successfully I must say, break us free from the British Empire once and for all. I have been keeping a running tally of his accomplishments since he has been back. The list is off the charts. We have never seen a President put America and her people 1st like Trump has. I’m confident people that slander this president are either ignorant, self dealers or are in opposition to what he has and will accomplish. You say he kowtows to the “oligarchs”. I say he is working with them to restore America 1st. One of Trump’s strong points is he is VERY pragmatic. He brings everyone on board BUT is smart enough to watch his back, this time around. And if shit falls through the tracks at times, I think he thinks the good far outweighs the bad. I’m reading a lot into him. But the proof is in the pudding and so far……..it looks pretty good. You can bad mouth him when the walls start to fall. Right now, they’re going up.

Tom Wiedemeier's avatar

Phil, you say Trump is a billionaire oligarch. All the assassination attempts were all staged as well? And he’s an Israeli puppet too?

Politico Phil's avatar

Really, I don't know. Also, I cannot read Trump's mind. So...

One or more of the attempts MAY have been staged. IMO, the last attempt at the WH dinner looks staged to me. Nothing else makes sense. There is no way the shooter would expect to be able to even get to the doors of the dinner room starting from his blind position at a dead run - impossible. And with a shotgun as a weapon, yet walks right past SS security without being spotted? Come on! I'm not that naive. Smells staged for publicity sake.

Butler smells like a botched Democrat/Leftist attempt. The Clintons are top suspects. Too amateurish to be CIA. Some claim that this was staged. There is an argument for it but I don't know.

The attempt at the golf course was so poorly planned, it has nut-case written all over it.

Clearly, Trump is a lightening rod. But what do I know? All of that is only speculation on my part. Now Charlie Kirk was clearly a professional hit, complete with patsy who was quickly dispatched just like the JFK assassination.

Just because Trump is a billionaire oligarch does not mean he's not a target. The mistake people make in trying to make sense out of everything is the tendency to interpret events in terms of "Trump vs the Radical Dems/Globalists". The actual conflict is the American people/liberty vs the Uniparty. It has been this way since at least 1913.

What we are now witnessing is a civil war within the Uniparty which is primarily a civil war between two different factions of the banking cartel (and I use the term 'cartel' advisedly). Trump is representing the American oligarchical portion of the banking cartel that wants to divert the US from the cliff the Biden regime was driving us to. Do we benefit? Certainly... but only by way of circumstance. Trump and his fellow American oligarchs are still driving the American people to a total digital surveillance state empowered by AI. This is Musk and the oligarchs of Silicon Valley. They believe they need this to preserve the USG Empire and their wealth.

Their excuse is that the US is in a desperate race with China to build AI data centers. It's a lie. The US *already* has 4,000 AI data centers built out sucking up all the electricity and water tables in their area and more are on the way. China has less than 400 data centers. Do the math. What use could there be for over 4,000 data centers? Certainly not commercial. (Oops, I just saw an update. US data centers now number 5,000.)

I'll quote a buddy of mine who succinctly described what is really happening: "What we are witnessing domestically and in the Western World is a Civil War within the UniParty which is also a Civil War between predominantly two main factions within the banking cartel. The habit of mind of nearly all people is to skew the reportage by employing a Trump vs the Rad Dems/Globalists storyboard. The prevailing power structure mechanics is never framed in the context of the American people and what should be going in the pursuit of our maximum self interest (which is unalienable Rights Liberty). And this is why the state under either branch of the warring UniPart continues to build the techno-tyranny terror state unobstructed."

Oh... I forgot the question, "Israeli puppet?" It's too tempting to simply answer Yes. In reality, I think Trump's and Netanyahu's interests align. Clearly Trump wants Gaza and the Israeli genocide of the inhabitants works very conveniently for him. Gaza is projected to be a major chokepoint controlling not only the Suez Canal but also new pipelines and a shipping canal/port connecting the Persian Gulf with the Mediterranean Sea. This necessarily requires the complete removal of the Gaza inhabitants. Trump is selling this as Gaza becoming a world class resort. In regards to Persia (Iran), I tend to think they have miscalculated. This war will not end anytime soon and the US is incapable of defeating Iran just as we could not defeat Vietnam or Afghanistan. Persia is Afghanistan on steroids.

Gee, what about the concept of justice? Of course, it's ok Pelosi, Schiff, Clintons, Bush's, Obamas & Trump, to name just a few, are still walking free. But by golly, that Raul Castro has got to be charged with crimes. I guess charging him with crimes will take the attention off of Trump losing to Iran.

It's stunning this is even a topic of discussion.

MariaABC's avatar

You're correct, Beckadee, my mistake. "His office stated that his schedule did not permit him to make the trip. And here’s a picture of 5’9” Pierre Trudeau, Justin’s alleged biological father:

https://x.com/jouler8/status/1849294510326796333

When Pierre and Maggie were on their honeymoon in the Caribbean, there were several days where their location and itinerary were blocked out of the official government records. Where were they? Then a year+ later, they made an official trip to Cuba, where Fidel was photographed holding infant Justin, with a glowing Maggie holding on tightly to Fidel’s arm. And Maggie later reportedly admitted to having affairs during her marriage. So.

Sorry, but there is just too much circumstantial evidence of there being a Cuban in the woodpile to dismiss... The handsome likeness to Fidel is glaringly obvious, whereas Pierre is as ugly as a bowl of warmed-up sorrow... the biological propensity for male children to favor the appearance of their paternal parentage is well acknowledge for obvious reasons ... taken together with the touchy-feely relationship that Pierre and Margret had with Fidel... A quick "fact check" given all the comments:

The conspiracy theory is impossible for the following reasons: Birth Dates: Justin Trudeau was born in December 1971. His parents, Pierre and Margaret Trudeau, did not visit Cuba and meet Fidel Castro until January 1976—more than four years later. The Brother in the Photo: The infant Castro is holding in the widely circulated 1976 photos is Justin’s youngest brother, Michel, not Justin. Family Resemblance: Justin Trudeau and his brothers bear a striking physical resemblance to their biological father, the late Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.

St. Alia the Knife's avatar

😂😂😂 I had to laugh - your comment brought to mind a memory from early in our marriage. We had moved to Denver due to the Mr.'s job. While talking to my mama one day in April, she mentioned that she had not seen the sun in 5 months. My sister and I hatched a plan to surprise her with a plane ticket to Denver, where they advertise over 320 days of sunshine per year. I invited my aunt (Mama's sister) in Albuquerque to bring her family for a visit to add to the surprise. Imagine my surprise when it rained, nay, POURED, PNW-style, the entire Memorial Day weekend! We joked that she had brought the weather with her! The sun finally reappeared as I was taking her back to the airport.

We did move back to the PNW, obviously. 😂

Mrs. "the Knife"

Donna in MO's avatar

Memorial day weekend was a red letter day (weekend) for us as kids and for our kids as that is the weekend the swimming pools open. And it nearly almost always rains that weekend here in MO! SO FAR, forecast is for sunny and warm on Sun and Mon this year so maybe our neighborhood kids get a chance to dive in!

Jan's avatar

Raining and cold up here in northern Illinois for the weekend. Normal operating system. Then we will go right to 85 and humid.

Donna in MO's avatar

Yep, same, digging this cool weather for as long as it lasts!

RJ Rambler's avatar

We always blame the out of state visitors for our extreme weather. FL is a miserable weather state. 😆

Mary Pat FitzGibbons's avatar

Hmmm. Why would you say that FL is a miserable weather state? Interesting perspective. I Syracuse NY. CNY often ties Seattle WA for the most number of cloudy days. We would go weeks with gray skies. If there was any percentage chance of rain, it seemed that it rained!

In 1975, my brothers and sisters and I took a 6 week camping trip across the country. I was 22 at the time and my youngest brother was 13. We ere seasoned scouts and campers. We took the family van and pop trailer. We planned and raised money for a year. I that 6 weeks we had one day of rain. I had never seen so much sun in my entire life.

The other thing about me, when I lived up north was my cold weather habit of wearing long underwear from October to May, turtlenecks tops, scarfs and would seek out a heat source to sit next to. And then I would have to shovel to get to my car so I could go out to work.

In my perspective, I am so so grateful to live in SWFL. The sun is out every day. Rarely do we get the all day rain. We get hurricanes, true enough. Up north we had blizzards that you lock you in for days. And if your pipes froze that is a problem in 0-20 degree F temps. On hot sunny days, go out for my walk/ride in morning, move between air-condition car and building and I don't have to shovel it. (I was responsible for shoveling all those years up north).

Personally I'm so glad to be in Florida for weather and other reasons.

Donna in MO's avatar

Same in MO, and loving it - perfect weather for getting yard work done, and the last of the flowers planted - 'no sweat'!

Juju's avatar

I miss planting flowers this year. I took the year off. My wrists and elbows have become injured with the past few years to the point I’ve been incapacitated and in casts for a few months at a time - interrupting my gym time for lifting weights, all from just working a hand spade. 🥺😢 Flowers in my yard are my favorite thing to do each spring/summer. I’m trying to find perennials that flower profusely in the shade, (heavily landscaped yard,) and so far all that has survived is vinca. Everything else barely takes and doesn’t come back, doesn’t flower, or is eaten to the ground in minutes by squirrels, rabbits, and chipmunks. Annuals are so much easier if you enjoy the labor, which I did!

RunningLogic's avatar

I’m so sorry! 😞 I hope you can get back to it next year 🙏

St. Alia the Knife's avatar

Juju, I am so sorry! Flowers in one's yard are such a pick-me-up for the soul and mind. I hope you find something that works in your yard that is not so taxing on your body to tend.

Mrs. "the Knife"

Maggie Think of Me's avatar

Have you tried Impatiens? Those love the shade here in Florida.

Juju's avatar

Yes! Those are my favorite!! I usually have breathtaking carpets of them all over my yard. That’s how I ended up with tennis and golfers elbows requiring casts two years ago and caused damage to my wrists last year that are still making it difficult to pick up a glass of water this year. Spade work. And annuals require a LOT of it. I planted about 14-15 flats of them. 🤣 Now it literally hurts to dig more than six holes for six saplings. Last year I got my husband to do ALL the digging for me, but no way would he do near 500 - 600 plants like I would have. I think I got him to do about 60 tops. LOL

This year he’s overworked with 12 hour days including Saturdays too. He’s just too exhausted to work in the yard much this year, and only has Sundays free. I won’t push it. That’s why I took the year off. Learning to love the look of grass. It’s just so much prettier with a splash of hot pink rolling near it and fresh brown mulch. Ho hum … next year maybe.

Donna in MO's avatar

So sorry Juju, planting flowers/digging in the dirt is my stress relief - my nod to aging is my knees with all that bending which has cut back some of my activity. I can't spend more than a couple of hours at a time or I can barely walk the next day. I love impatiens but our summers are dry and they need a lot of watering so I have cut back on them. And agree, finding shade perennials that bloom continuously is a big challenge. Begonias are generally more drought tolerant and I have expanded them this year, and do flower in the shade, but are still annuals. Have about a dozen Heuchera (coral bells) that come back every year and at least have a variety of colors in their foliage.

Yes it started back last June when he abruptly called the Epstein files a hoax. He started off so well… now here we are. I wouldn’t have ever believed it after he was elected that we would be in the 💩

Mike Gustine's avatar

Let's hope they are not. I'm no fan of either party, but we already know exactly what the Dems will do if they regain power. Waste all of it by impeaching Trump and stopping anything that might actually help the country. I'm not naive enough to think Trump is some kind of savior or that he and his family aren't profiting handsomely off of his time in office, though I'm not sure how that makes him any different from every President in my lifetime. At least he doesn't pretend he's not doing it. But no, I think the worst thing that could possibly happen right now is for the Dems to retake congress. I will never vote Dem again, and I voted mostly Dem for most of my life (until 2012).

Janine Melnitz's avatar

Agree but the coalition that elected Trump is fractured. The dems are definitely worse but Trump needs to do a 180.

Welp, as far as remittances go, the mexican government, whilst claiming to help the Biden team crack down on illegal immigration, was actually sending people here knowing they would be sending money back. It’s the method of operations. Has been for decades.

Lori's avatar

Get these stinking illegals out of our country.

LamedVav disavows all vaxes.'s avatar

Go to any border Town from Brownsville to Tijuana and you will see tons US government welfare commodities offered for sale in their Mexican markets.

These US towns also have lines going for blocks around their post offices when the Mexicans come here to pick up their US government checks on the first of every month.

KBB's avatar

You will also see state of the art elementary schools where instruction is in Spanish because the students are all anchor babies who live on the other side of the border but are US citizens by dint of birth on US soil.

Having a bank account or not has no bearing on Mexicans sending money back home. They have stores all over that allow you to pay a certain price to wire any amount of money to any account in Mexico. I know this because I have seen the stores that do it and I have known people that do it. Restricting banking access will not end the problem

Skeptical Actuary's avatar

Doesn't "remittances" cover wire transfers?

James Goodrich's avatar

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Time doesn’t change the common problems of man or the solutions to those problems. History shows, understanding what has worked and what hasn’t is the beginning of positive constructive solutions.

The Roman statesman Cato the Elder famously observed that "the average Roman doesn’t care about what the legions are doing in foreign lands. He cares about the pebble in his shoe." He used this metaphor, originally from Cicero, to explain that citizens are motivated by immediate, daily, personal problems right in front of them, rather than grand geopolitical events happening far away. The price of bread, grain, meat was first on the list.

The pebble was Cicero's metaphor for a nagging conscience, Cato's metaphor was meant for localized, personal problems. The crisis of rising prices on common items was the constant topic for government. Rising prices, inflation, later on was handled by Diocletian's with price controls. This turned into an economic disaster, all sound familiar? It opened up black markets on commonly needed things. Both metaphors using the pebble in the shoe were separate historical concepts but both have significant connecting meaning today.

I feel that pebble in my shoe today knowing I have to go (overpriced) food shopping after a long hard days work and struggle having to pay for it with a credit card. It’s difficult for me to not to ask the obvious question, what happened to no foreign wars and America first?

Free in Florida's avatar

Hi James, I look at it a bit differently. I do think Trump is doing exactly what he said about putting America first. This is short term pain for long term happiness and well being. If Iran is the bad actor they have been for almost 50 years and has spread terror throughout the world Without a nuclear weapon, we need to imagine what they would be With one. We have to deal with this now or pay enormous and awful consequences on down the road. It’s worth it to me. Keep the faith!

Also, I agree with RunningLogic that a few prices seem to be coming down here also (in northwest Florida.) I have always shopped specials on food and was delighted to see some amazing specials on beef this week!

VelvetStitching's avatar

AND what would have happened if Pres O'Bummer hadn't sent pallets with billions in CASH to Iran to fund their terrorism.

And if O'Biden (O'Bummer) hadn't left 83 billion $ of American military equipment in Afghanistan.....

Yeah - I am thankful for the short-term pain - it think if it like the exercise idiom: "No pain, no gain!" President Trump is cleaning up! Go ahead and take out the trash! (and even: "Here - I'll help!")

God clean up America and then God bless America!

And it’s not just cleaning up the foreign threats, he’s also cleaning up the corruption in our own country. If I had a choice of hard times but the cancer removed vs easier times but the same corruption continues to rob us all of what we have worked hard for, I’d take the former every time. A 4-year term isn’t nearly enough time to cleanse this country of its threats both foreign and domestic, yet what Trump is doing in under 18 months is astonishing. Enough for me to yell “hoooold, hoooold!” Our present difficulties are NOT because of anything Trump is doing, they are directly caused by Obama and Biden, and some of Clinton. By socialist ideas and greedy, power hungry elites. The clean up crew is not to blame.

FH's avatar

My absolute favorite thing about your reply is how thoughtful it is. Not the mindless emotional claptrap and/or ad hominem attack tactics some newer commenters spew when they disagree or as you put it, see things differently.

Mr Goodrich’s comments certainly appreciated. Especially the point about history rhyming or repeating.

We have been fortunate to have been able to make our purchases with some ouches and a little belt tightening, but if it hadn’t been for a few high income years, prices would hurt our fixed income budget a whole lot more. That said, I was floored to see our local Winco brand butter under $3/lb, when just a 2-3 years ago it rose to nearly $5/lb.

Juju's avatar

I notice that too! Butter dropped from $6-$7/lb down to the $3 range once again.

Free in Florida's avatar

Juju, this is brilliant. Exactly so!!!

Clara's avatar

I wish I was free in Florida. I have never seen prices come down in my lifetime except for a short time a year ago. I live in the communist state of WA and can’t afford to move. I’m retired and on a fixed income.

Wendy H's avatar

I think some people may be confused. I live alone and usually buy the same things each week at the same stores so I can easily tell if things have gone up or down. I live in Illinois and Florida and I've noticed, once again, the product size has been reduced. So rather than raise prices, they lower the quantity, which often goes unnoticed.

Mike Gustine's avatar

Yes, that's been happening forever. I remember noticing that back in 2000 or so.

Free in Florida's avatar

Hey Wendy, I’m not confused on this as I’m like you, buying the same brands and types of food. There are a few things that have come down. Others, like the beef I was talking about, are sale prices but even the sales price on the beef is $2 lower than normal.

And fire up the money printing machines that Biden/Obama practically wore out running them 24/7 for 16 years. Damn, I still wonder where this inflation came from? Not! Plus, you best quit speaking badly about Trump or he'll censor you & your internet access. Hell, he might even have you arrested. Oh, wait! That WAS the Biden Administration. Remember? This was the same guy who forced you (or at least tried to force you) into injecting poison into your body. Yeah, that guy. He was so wonderful and caring that he left $50+ BILLION dollars worth of weapons in the hands of our sworn enemies in Afghanistan. What a guy. What a leader. And don't forget the child mutilation and all that insane stuff. Yet you want to nit pick the current President of the U.S.? I don't care if gas prices go to $10.00 a gallon (yes, it would be painful) nor if he unleashes more fury on the Iranian REGIME - I just don't want to go back to the Marxist/Communist (disguised as Socialist) way of "governing" that the Libtards continue to push today. God Bless America! And Bravo Team Trump!!! Unless, of course, you would rather live with less freedom & liberties.

SHug's avatar

kittynana's avatar

@Shug- it's not the people that are our enemies- it's the regime. Just like after 9/11- we didn't go after the people. We went after the regime who made it possible. We weren't at war with Afghanistan just like we aren't at war with Iran.

Free in Florida's avatar

Yes, avocados were 60 cents here yesterday.

We live in Mexico. Several times a week, we see long lines at the Western Union office waiting to collect their remittances. These are mostly women. What none of the bleeding heart illegal immigrant supporters never mention is that the most of the men who are sending money back here have left their children fatherless. Absent a male figure, their sons are vulnerable to being recruited by the narcos. And they are. It is a disgrace that Mexico does not provide an economy that can support their citizens.

David Nelson's avatar

After the take earmarked for corruption, there's just not that much left in the kitty for the economy. "It's nobody's fault, really."

Cindy Cunningham's avatar

You're right! As in any socialist/marxist country, the elites do well and the ones at the other end suffer. On the bright side, though, there is an emerging middle class in Mexico. A good sign is the every-day crowded Costco.

Lori's avatar

Cindy, why would you live in such a country that supports and endorses drug cartels and is so dangerous?

Cindy Cunningham's avatar

That's a fair question. Originally, it was a challenge---learning a language, meeting new people---now we have come to love the Mexican people and their way of life. Most Mexicans, unfortunately, seem to ignore their government, I suppose because it has been corrupt for so long. The corruption in the US that is now coming to the surface may be just the tip of the iceberg. It is not as obvious as it is in Mexico, but it's there and even sadder because the US should be different than the rest of the world. People are the same all over the world.

CHop's avatar

Good things are happening though...Bush, Cheney, McCain all 😵. The US cartel was built over several years. It'll take a while to dismantle it without causing chaos

LamedVav disavows all vaxes.'s avatar

So much more corruption in Mexico.

There’s a large community of retired Americans living in San Miguel de Allende near Queretaro.

Cindy Cunningham's avatar

We are in San Miguel. Yes, DEEP corruption in Mexico and everyone knows it, but as we are finding out everyday now, there is DEEP corruption in the US too. One difference is that we did not know it.

FH's avatar

Especially under the last administration we often told ourselves, if we have to live under a corrupt government we might as well move to Mexico…or whatever other country we happened to be interested in.

As for the danger of living in MX, I tell my friends to name one single metro area in the US that isn’t equally dangerous. When I think about it, same is true all over the rural west. One has to know the places to avoid and the times to be out and about, everywhere.

I completely agree with you Cindy about the people, the customs, and relaxed way of life. We honeymooned all over the central highlands towards the end of the last cartel war, and we weren’t phased one iota. I quickly grew to love being treated so respectfully everywhere we went.

Lori's avatar

How does one ignore their government? Do they not pay taxes or follow laws? What is their way of life that you like? I have been there several times and found it disconcerting on so many levels.

At least with this admin we are doing something about it now, (long overdue) where it does not appear that sheinbaum or her ilk do much about it.

Cindy Cunningham's avatar

I don't know about the tax structure, but my guess is that many people do not pay taxes. There's lots of under the table business. You are right about Sheinbaum. I think Trump is forcing her to cooperate; I doubt she is cooperating willingly.

Lori's avatar

What is it about their way of life you like?

Cindy Cunningham's avatar

The pace of life is slower here and that's a plus, but primarily I love the values of the Mexican people -- family is paramount. I only hope those values can be sustained in the next generations.

Lisa Price's avatar

Most immigrants are using Western Union, despite very high fees, to send money home. They are not ACHing from their BofA accounts. Was Western Union included in the order?

MarkGW's avatar

That’s what I thought also.

DaveL's avatar

Some of these measures are directed against the American people, while pretending to be something else. The Wall, for example. It’s interesting that East Germans (and Russians, too) were originally told their Wall (and Iron Curtain) was supposed to protect their societies from the West.

The Banking control Trump just signed will inevitably evolve as a way to coerce people here, like the Social Credit system in China.

Alison Smith's avatar

Sending any money overseas is covered I believe.

Ruth H's avatar

Money Transmitters must be federally licensed and follow federal rules and regulations. States and federal agencies examine money transmitters routinely for possible violations and fraud. If fraud is detected, fines are imposed. In most cases, it depends on how well the examiners do their job to detect phony remittances from locations with multiple addresses and/or names.

Lisa Price's avatar

I could be a tourist visiting the US or an illegal migrant and could walk into a grocery store and send a western union anywhere in the world. I can pay cash at the counter. I don’t see how what Trump signed changes that scenario.

Ruth H's avatar

If they ask for identification, as required, it can make it more difficult.

Ruth H's avatar

As a tourist with a visa, you would have proper access to do so. If an illegal alien (not using migrant cause they aren’t), you would now need proper identification or no access. Using cash isn’t the issue, it’s having the correct identification to send money out of country and the right purpose for doing so.

shayne's avatar

It's so very satisfying to see the ship turning, even if it's a slow turn. I'm so thankful for President Trump. Maybe now the Dems are beginning to understand what they created when they stole the 2020 election.🤣😂

"Which Americans has Israel killed?"

That's a legitimate question, Alison. Unless you follow non-mainstream news sources, you would not know. I asked AI to give me a list, here it is (with links for validation):

Here’s a concise list of American citizens killed by Israeli soldiers or settlers in the last five years, using the cases documented by DAWN and reported by Al Jazeera. The list includes deaths from 2022 through 2026 and totals 13 named American citizens in that period. [dawnmena](https://dawnmena.org/u-s-citizens-killed-by-israel-soldiers-and-settlers-in-palestine/)

## Named cases, 2022–2026

- Omar Assad, killed in January 2022. [dawnmena](https://dawnmena.org/u-s-congress-demand-state-department-investigation-into-killing-of-13-american-citizens-by-israeli-forces/)

- Shireen Abu Akleh, killed in May 2022. [dawnmena](https://dawnmena.org/u-s-congress-demand-state-department-investigation-into-killing-of-13-american-citizens-by-israeli-forces/)

- Mohammad Khdour, killed in February 2024. [dawnmena](https://dawnmena.org/u-s-congress-demand-state-department-investigation-into-killing-of-13-american-citizens-by-israeli-forces/)

- Tawfiq Ajaq, killed in January 2024. [dawnmena](https://dawnmena.org/u-s-congress-demand-state-department-investigation-into-killing-of-13-american-citizens-by-israeli-forces/)

- Jacob Flickinger, killed in April 2024. [dawnmena](https://dawnmena.org/u-s-congress-demand-state-department-investigation-into-killing-of-13-american-citizens-by-israeli-forces/)

- Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, killed in September 2024. [dawnmena](https://dawnmena.org/u-s-congress-demand-state-department-investigation-into-killing-of-13-american-citizens-by-israeli-forces/)

- Amer Rabee, killed in April 2025. [dawnmena](https://dawnmena.org/u-s-congress-demand-state-department-investigation-into-killing-of-13-american-citizens-by-israeli-forces/)

- Sayfollah Musallet, killed in July 2025. [dawnmena](https://dawnmena.org/u-s-congress-demand-state-department-investigation-into-killing-of-13-american-citizens-by-israeli-forces/)

- Khamis Ayyad, killed in July 2025. [dawnmena](https://dawnmena.org/u-s-citizens-killed-by-israel-soldiers-and-settlers-in-palestine/)

- Nasrallah Abu Siyam, killed in February 2026. [dawnmena](https://dawnmena.org/u-s-citizens-killed-by-israel-soldiers-and-settlers-in-palestine/)

## Notes on scope

These sources say the killings were carried out by Israeli soldiers, settlers, or other Israeli forces, and they distinguish some cases by location or circumstances such as the West Bank, Gaza, or Lebanon. The count is based on tracked cases named by these organizations, not necessarily an official U.S. government list.

They need to make sure & go after that slug Eric Holder as well! The gun runner, among other things.

Richard Whitney's avatar

One of the other things was his set-up of the MERS corporation, which made it possible for Wall Street to gamble on home mortgages.

A district attorney, I think it was in Texas, sued to stop the practice, because it cut into the power and fees that our long-time laws requiring every home transfer to be registered at the county office, in order to keep track of the properties in the county, collected. She was slammed down.

Those CDOs were being sold to the wealthy all over the world, so your mortgage might be owned by Saudi sheiks, Colombian drug lords, and/or British bankers.

Then when the whole thing collapsed in 2008, Obama and Holder came in, and made sure that the tiny little question of who actually held the mortgages was not asked, and the people in the houses were kicked out, while the bankers were bailed out with public money.

Which is why the public debt skyrocketed after 2009, although we are told it was spent on the actual public. It wasn't.

So yeah, let's see Eric Holder prosecuted. Maybe after Raul Castro and the guy in Spain and some Chinese industrialists.

Don't hold your breath.

I follow someone who asserts the Patriot Act protects a bunch of the criminals. I haven’t dug into it to know exactly what is in that act. I do know it gives very broad permission for surveillance of all of us. Remember that the initial crime began with Obama’s IC and DOJ spying on all of the 2016 GOP candidates.

Fear and expense may be the extent of the punishment experienced by those criminals. Hopefully bankrupting expense is in the cards.
