It appears that America is about to "reap the whirlwind" for all we have "sown to the wind" in all of our foreign wars since 1860 (and, yes, that was a "foreign" war also against the CSA). Consult Hosea 8. A reckoning is coming.
Amen. I’ve said for years that what our government has done to other country will be done to us. And why not? They don’t consider themselves as part of our nation—but above it.
When the ego is not in alignment with the Christ-the intuition, it can run amuck. We are programmed to be a part of something but we get to choose.
I don’t for a second believe someone can be an atheist. It’s impossible not to side with something and the dark side is always taking new members who don’t want to look inside themselves for their problems—but outside.
I hear your point, but I have a highly intelligent, older brother, who to my knowledge has never lied or done one thing to bend the rules or break the laws in his life. I know that is hard to believe. But he has a very strong sense of morals. He’s not perfect, and is not always able to understand other peoples emotional reactions, even though he actually has a very big heart. He really came through when my father was dying .He’s been working for the same drug company for decades. He really truly believes that Pharma are the good guys trying to save humanity, since he is a good guy with no malice in his heart. He is an atheist by my definition, believing only in science. He also thinks all scientists are well intentioned because he is. He is a loving husband and wonderful father and grandfather. Who knows, perhaps he will reach out for God when his own time is near. Needless to stay he’s probably had six or so Covid, genetic injections, and has had Covid four or five times.
Hopelessly naive comes to mind. That is not to impugn his character. He just hasn't had his eyes opened. This is often a result of the belief that deep down "everyone is basically good". The Biblical view is that all are "depraved" due to the Fall and in need of God's sovereign grace. That's called the doctrine of the total depravity of man.
I'm pretty sure that none of the people I knew in my circles of medicine would have perpetrated the evil we've seen over the last four years (and much more, we now realize). I think I felt the way your brother still does (but I haven't for four years now).
A short story from my Christian radio station: Steven/Stephen Hawking believed in God until science convinced him God did not exist. A young man, age 11, who graduated from high school at age 9, responded: Something does not come from nothing. Boom!
Yes, but God is able to reward the righteous at the same time he punishes the wicked...
and even though we suffer the consequences of others' bad choices, we will reap the reward eventually of suffering for righteousness sake, if we must, and our reward will be greater. Thank God this world is not eternal...
We are not "rewarded" for our good works. IE, we do not earn salvation. Our good works do not punch our ticket to heaven. Salvation is only by the grace of God. This is called Sovereign Grace. A little book by Charles H. Spurgeon called "All Of Grace" is well worth the read.
Earning salvation is not the same as being rewarded for our good works (even though those works could never merit salvation). Consider the parables where servants are rewarded for being faithful with what they were given; and consider that even without "concrete" rewards, those who have done what is right in difficult times will have the reward of being honored in the Kingdom.
Totally agree. As servants or "slaves of Christ", we do receive honor as we are all, in Christ, sons of God. And as you pointed out, salvation itself is a whole different question.
Indeed, as the adopted Sons of God through the Second Adam, Jesus Christ. What "assignment" we are given after that we are not told but the universe is a big place.
✝️✝️✝️
Once God has spoken;
Twice I have heard this:
That strength belongs to God;
And that to You, O Lord, belongs lovingkindness,
For You repay a man according to his work.
— Psalm 62:11-12 LSB

Kathy, that's so sad that someone so intelligent would do such a harmful thing to himself all while believing he is doing the right thing.
I pray God will get to him. (in a good way)
Blessings, Anita

He sounds like an otherwise amazing human being! Whether naivete' or denial, I pray he becomes willing to hear Jesus calling

Agreed, but we do receive crowns in heaven?
