🗞*WORLD NEWS AND COMMENTARY* 🗞
🔥 In stark contrast to its raid on Mar-a-Lago, the FBI gingerly searched Biden’s Rehobeth homes yesterday for only three hours, and after giving Biden a week to get ready.
Bob Bauer, Biden’s personal attorney issued a statement yesterday:
The DOJ's planned search of the President's Rehoboth residences, conducted in coordination and cooperation with the President's attorneys, has concluded. The search was conducted from 8:30 AM to noon. No documents with classified markings were found. Consistent with the process in Wilmington, the DOJ took for further review some materials and handwritten notes that appear to relate to his time as Vice President.
Folks are very interested in the “materials and handwritten notes” that the FBI agents collected. One wonders what that could be about, especially since Biden had all that time to prepare for his guests.
🔥 Yesterday, one of my contacts inside the University of Florida sent me an official screen background that the business school — not the political science department, the business school — asked employees to install on their computer desktops and into their zoom meetings, so that “Black Resistance” and marxist BLM propaganda could be seared into employees’ eyeballs all month:
I confirmed the story. It’s real. UF’s “Marketing Communications” department created the racist background screens:
Meet Mr. Jeffrey Danso, the College of Business’ “inaugural” DIE manager, hired in May of last year:
The University of Florida is one of the largest public universities in the state. Until recently, it thought it was an unassailable fortress of woke nonsense, not so much an ivory tower perhaps, but definitely a cheap, plastic, Neo-marxist tower.
They built those ugly plastic towers using our tax money. They had to, because nobody would ever pay for this stuff if it were voluntary, and that’s their weakness.
As the next few stories will show, it’s getting to be a tough time to be a woke university in Florida.
🔥 Earlier this week, Governor DeSantis gave a press conference about reforming colleges in Florida. He said Florida will conform its core college curriculum to the “Western Canon” and cut off DEI/CRT funding:
The first thing that we’re going to propose is: we want to make sure everybody who goes to a Florida university has to take certain core course requirements focused on giving them the foundation so that they can think for themselves.
And the core curriculum must be grounded in actual history, the actual philosophy, that has shaped Western Civilization. Our institutions will be graduating students with degrees that will be meaningful.
We don’t want students to go through — at taxpayer expense — and graduate with a degree in Zombie Studies. This is going to make a difference.
We are also going to eliminate all DEI and CRT bureaucracies in the state of Florida, no funding, and that will wither on the vine.
It’s great news. None of this would have happened without the pandemic. Remember that.
🔥 In another win for the Governor, the New York Times ran a story yesterday headlined, “The College Board Strips Down Its A.P. Curriculum for African American Studies.”
The sub-headline explained it better: “After criticism from Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, the official course looks different: No more critical race theory, and the study of contemporary topics — like Black Lives Matter — is optional.”
Governor DeSantis rejected the racist material in the proposed new curriculum last month, saying it was not historically accurate, was biased and one-sided, and violated the state’s anti-CRT law. After giving it some thought, the College Board made some changes to its AP Black History coursework:
The College Board purged the names of many black writers and scholars associated with critical race theory, the queer experience and black feminism. It ushered out some politically fraught topics, like Black Lives Matter, from the formal curriculum.
And it added something new: “black conservatism” is now offered as an idea for a research project.
Since Florida took the lead, the Times says more than two dozen states have adopted some sort of measure against critical race theory.
That’s one reason why what happens in Florida is so important.
Now, before you go criticizing the Governor for being a “dictator” or whatever, the Times said that the College Board insisted the changes were made on its OWN initiative:
David Coleman, the head of the College Board, said in an interview that the changes were all made for pedagogical reasons, not to bow to political pressure. “At the College Board, we can’t look to statements of political leaders,” he said. The changes, he said, came from “the input of professors” and “longstanding A.P. principles.”
He said that during the initial test of the course this school year, the board received feedback that the secondary, more theoretical sources were “quite dense” and that students connected more with primary sources, which he said have always been the foundation of A.P. courses.
They ‘received feedback’ all right. One of the removed authors, Bell Hooks, 69, a “Buddhist Christian” who only used lower-case letters to spell her name, wrote over 30 books critiquing what she called the “imperialist white supremacist capitalist patriarchy.”
Whatever THAT is. White liberals love that kind of talk though, it gets them all lathered up; they’ll fork over any amount for books including the loquacious phrase “imperialist white supremacist capitalist patriarchy.”
Sadly, Hooks died suddenly and unexpectedly in December 2021. The original reporting — PBS was especially overwrought — said there was no ‘immediate’ information on her cause of death. Implying that, as was normal before the pandemic, they’d let us know what happened later, at some point. But bafflingly, nobody’s ever provided any further information about her cause of death since December 2021, not that I can find. Weird.
Anyway, good job, Governor! It’s that easy. Just cut off the cash flow. Florida is changing the country for the better.
🔥 Yesterday, President Trump posted another comment critical of Governor DeSantis, which predictably got a whole bunch of folks hopping mad and arguing on social media. I’m reporting Trumps’ comment NOT because of the conflict between the two conservative leaders, but because it supports my theory that Trump is setting up corporate media:
I’m sure you were jarred by the media-baiting line: “Loved the Vaccines and wasted big money on ‘Testing.’” Everyone, Trump included, knows he started Operation Warp Speed which is where the wasteful tests and defective vaccines came from. It’s almost laughable.
Unless Trump has lost all his political instincts, he’s playing chess.
Commenters often mis-guess which leader I support for 2024. The answer is: neither, or both. I respect people who already know for sure, but I haven’t made up my mind yet. Let’s see the primary campaigns. Let’s see how Trump handles the jab issue. Let’s see how DeSantis handles Trump’s running commentary, because DeSantis is going to get a lot worse treatment from democrats and media if he becomes the nominee. I want to see how they handle their primaries.
We don’t have to pick one until next year. And there will be a lot of other folks running. Stand by.
🔥 Yesterday, Gavin Newsom terminated 26 states of emergency in California, going all the way back to 2017. If you want to understand why they would let a state of emergency for a local fire run on for six years, just consider that SOEs usually allow for sole-source contracting, and you’ll be all set.
Did Newsom suddenly develop a conscience? Is he cleaning up the government? Why’d Newsom quickly sweep 26 ancient SOEs into the closed file all at the same time?
Who knows for sure, but I have a theory. See if you can spot it too (I gave you a hint):
Monkeypox! And look, the poor “Route Fire” only got a few months to live, sacrificed so festival-virus Monkeypox wouldn’t have to stand out at the top of the list. Newsom wanted to jettison the not-so-popular Monkeypox state of emergency but was too scared of angry gay activists to just do it directly, so the coiffed poltroon scraped up 25 other states of emergency to make it seem like he was just doing spring cleaning or something.
The one emergency he DIDN’T end was the covid state of emergency. That one is WAY too profitable, I mean important.
Adios, Monkeypox, we hardly knew ye.
🔥 On Tuesday, on top of passing a bill that would immediately end the federal state of emergency, the House Republicans also passed a bill that would stop all healthcare vaccine mandates. The latter bill passed 227-203, with 7 democrats joining Republicans.
They also passed a bill ending tele-work options and requiring government employees to actually come to work. The horror.
All three bills now head to the Senate, where they cannot pass without democrat support. Even if they do, Biden would have to sign them.
🔥 You really can’t make this stuff up. The Washington Free Beacon ran a story late last week headlined, “Plot Twist: Ex-FBI Agent Involved in Trump-Russia Probe Indicted For Violating Russia Sanctions.”
That’s right! An FBI agent who investigated President Trump for “Russia collusion” has been arrested for … colluding with Russia. I know, you’re shocked. How could this happen, and so forth.
Charles McGonigal, who led the FBI’s counterintelligence division in New York, is accused of helping Oleg Deripaska, a Russian aluminum magnate with close ties to Vladimir Putin, violate U.S. sanctions restrictions. McGonigal, who was arrested the previous Monday, is alleged to have been paid $225,000 by a former Russian intelligence officer — while he was still working at the FBI.
McGonigal, who left the FBI in 2018, helped probe Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, was one of the first individuals at the FBI to ‘learn’ that Trump’s campaign manager, Paul Manafort, had discussed Hillary Clinton’s emails with a foreign diplomat, and has ties to former British spy Christopher Steele, who produced the completely-discredited “Trump Dossier.”
The FBI is really making a name for itself these days. Still, it’s progress. Slow but steady wins the race.
🔥 Chris Rufo, multiplied by C&C last year, has been hired by Governor DeSantis to save Florida’s New College and transform it into a successful institution of higher learning. He gave a presser this week announcing his plan to release one report per week “exposing what is going on in Florida schools.”
Rufo said some other very encouraging things:
> “The bureaucrats feel like they’re in charge… these are public institutions funded by taxpayers and governed by public officials… [We need to] re-establish control over public institutions… This is gonna be a place where equality, merit, and colorblindness are the law of the land.”
It’s a nice little presentation that will start your day off right:
Have a terrific Thursday! I’ll be right back here tomorrow morning to wrap up the work week.
