Oh contrair sir! Christ established His kingdom when He ascended to His throne at the right hand of God to rule and of His reign there will be no end. Within the SAME generation of those who heard His words, He "came" in judgement upon Jerusalem in 70 AD and destroyed the Temple as He prophesied earlier and as prophesied in the OT. Promises kept.
I find it amusing that commenters here try to convince others to believe what they believe, religion-wise. People will believe what they believe, and there's pretty much no chance of reasoning them out of it. They gotta go one way or another as their life sees fit and accept the consequences
You raise a great point, and you are absolutely correct that we cannot convert others; that is certainly not our job as Disciples of Christ. Our duty is to be compassionate toward others and spread the Gospel.
We can't change anyone's beliefs ourselves - only God can soften someone's heart. But we certainly can pray for another person and ask for God's blessing upon him or her. He wants us to plant seeds through conversation, actions, and sharing Scripture.
Often, God puts someone in our path for this very reason. Whether or not our seeds will bear fruit is out of our control.
Phil, based on Dennis' use of old fashioned terminology like "codswallop," it is apparent that Dennis is either (1) an elderly gentleman, which means he is not far from meeting his Maker, or (2) a bot. If the former, he needs prayer before it's too late for him.
In Matthew 5:10-12, Jesus says, "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven."
In Matthew 10:22, Jesus assured His followers, "You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved."
This confirms the Truth that His followers endure persecution.
Hey Dennis. I will be praying for you the rest of Lent.
“In each of the synoptic Gospels, the next event immediately after this promise from Jesus is the transfiguration. Rather than interpreting Jesus’ promise as referring to His coming to establish His kingdom on earth, the context indicates that Jesus was referring to the transfiguration. The Greek word translated “kingdom” can also be translated “royal splendor,” meaning that the three disciples standing there would see Christ as He really is—the King of heaven—which occurred in the transfiguration.”
In addition, “Many of his hearers would see the kingdom of God coming in his power over sickness, demons, and death. Most of them would see him in his glorified form after his resurrection. The kingdom of God is one of power. When we see the miraculous power of God we are seeing the in-breaking of the future heavenly kingdom.”
The Transfiguration occurred one week later. The three Apostles saw the kingdom of God.
Matthew 16:28: "Verily I say unto you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom."
2,024 years later………. still waiting.
Jesus……JUST ANOTHER FALSE PROPHET.

Have a wonderful week!
Yeah, it's a good story!
Too bad it's a bunch of bullshit.
God does not exist.
Prove that does. Betcha can't.
Don't have to. Try and prove He doesn't exist. BS is as BS does.

What makes Him a false prophet? Even your math is bad. Using your argument it would be, +/- 1,992 years later.
Why didn't you add the prior verses? If you think about what He said it's an encompassing perspective, not an immediate perspective.
I think I'm starting to see why you seem to get angry, you take things out of context. It happens quite frequently.

Don’t worry…one day you will meet him face to face. I hope you humble yourself and ask for his mercy.
See my response to Phil above.
One day you will meet him face to face is a bunch of codswallop!
Prove to us that it isn't.
