I’m always astounded by the pitifully low sums for which American politicians sell out their government to special interests. Perhaps that’s just the compensation that is on the books.

Attorneys generally make well above average living, then some of them take political office for a greatly reduced salary, yet somehow most of those double and triple their income??

(No offense about critiquing attorneys Jeff, you and a few others are the exception that proves the rule)

Great post. I only respectfully disagree with your last line. As a legal recruiter who has/had 1 of the largest networks in the world, no exceptions have been found including birthday boys.

You think politicians sell out cheap? Try doctors. Pfizer was fined $2.5 billion in 2010 a big part of it was for bribing doctors. Not just "legal bribes" but outright illegal stuff. Aaron Siri went over the numbers and showed the average bribe was $3000.

The "average" bribe was $3k. Half sold out cheaper than that. The medical Ho's should ask the political and media Ho's how much to sell out for because they are just giving it away LOL.

The women of congress issued a statement after Aaron Siri announced the ave bribe amt of 3K. "The days that we Congresswomen get 82% of the average bribe money that congressmen get are OVER! We knew we were being hozed - which, btw men, won't be looking the other way when you are doing THAT with interns! No. In fact we want reparations for back bribe payment! Until then our hands remain out and our votes remain up for grabs!" ; )

When I worked in a certain hot sandy country under Congressional and State aid programs...our foreign liaisons all made about 40k a year but somehow had homes on the red sea for weekending...

It's called an "offset" in sanctioned U.S. Government terms.
