How many of them believe they're doing a good thing? They're not targeting "good speech", they're protecting Americans and saving lives by censoring hate and misinformation... only they're the ones defining what "hate" and "misinformation" mean. Even before 2020 they got this attitude that some legal speech is "dangerous", people should be punished for saying anything interpreted as "racismsexism" and Twitter already censored accounts for saying that man can't be a woman. Government censorship in co-operation with Twitter in the past 2 years is only a natural extension of this extremely patronizing attitude. But the question is also how many of their constituents want government "parental controls" in place.

The only people supporting this are the ones not mature enough to read a history book and understand that just because you don't like someone saying something that "offends" you, it's critically important that the right to do so be maintained, else it leads to tyranny and then all of our lives are in danger. It always surprises me though when they want people shut down because it's like "really? You don't have enough humility to foresee a situation where you might ever disagree with your government overlords and like to retain the right to speak out against it?"
