Your comment made me realize that all this trans craziness seems to go ONE way: Men dressing like transvestites in the most trashy way possible and parading around pretending to be women. BUT.....I haven't seen any women doing something similar and pretending to be men.
I think female -> male (persona) is much rarer, but I casually knew at least one such. I only knew her ? him ? at a distance. Partially because I was an elder volunteer and "the entity" was an employee. "He" was serious enough in his delusion, gossip has it, he'd gotten surgury done. I couldn't tell a difference, but frankly, I didn't want to look too closely either. I have no animus against such people (unless they're politically active trying to trample the rights of others) but in my opinion at least, they are mentally ill to some degree.
I'll add that I do know of one transgender man. Long-time friends of ours who are devout Mormons had one daughter who struggled with all this beginning maybe 10 years ago. At first she thought she was gay, but tried that for awhile. Then at some point she decided she should have been a man, and she started living that way. I don't know if she did anything physically or took testosterone, but it did cause enormous upheaval in her family, especially since her father was very active in the church. I remember reading something he wrote about reconciling all this with his religion and whether or not he had to no longer accept his daughter. I get the impression the family has contact, but my distant observation is that there is considerable strain and nothing will be the same again with them all. This girl-to-man found a woman who accepted her this way, and they got married (although not in the LDS church, I'm sure). They appear to live a quiet life that doesn't attract attention to all this.
